2741  Other / Politics & Society / Re: To Stop the Cartels, Mexico Strongly Considering the Legalization of ALL Drugs on: July 26, 2018, 03:30:40 AM
Even though I do understand that this would probably work, I would doubt that it would ever come out of such a corrupt country like Mexico. I think if the government / politicians ever DID REALLY try to do something like this, the cartels would fund the opposition to it to ensure that their stream of income isn't stopped.

Plus then you have the lobby of pharma, private prisons, etc that are going to just be against this by default. It's not easy to pass, and it's most likely never going to.

I guess it's a pipe dream though.
2742  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Wikipedia suppression of cryptocurrencies on: July 26, 2018, 03:02:55 AM
AFAIK Wikipedia has guidelines for what can get it's own article. One of which would be popularity - be it through renown or notoriety. Considering that the coin in question is not in the top 100 in terms of marketcap (at least according to Coinmarketcap) nor is it even close (at the time of writing it's on the 450th spot), that's probably the reason your article got removed.

That or the fact that at least the first few sections of the article read like an ad for the coin (albeit trying to look like objective article). The rest of the article is "meh" and IMO would have to go through quite a bit of editing to make it worthy of getting it on the site.

This right here, they're not going to let people plague Wikipedia with shitcoins to be able to peddle their own shitcoin to people. I don't really care what anyone in edu says about Wikipedia, but if there is an article about something on there I do give the topic some credibility as I do think that people peer-reviewing things give the topic some substance.

So, they're not suppressing crypto -- they're suppressing some random shitcoins that really don't even deserve to have a Wikipedia article. It's like posting a high school actors credentials for a biography on the site not needed and wasting peoples resources.
2743  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Actual bull run or price crash will happen after mid- August decision. on: July 26, 2018, 02:43:11 AM
Yet again, people never learn that there is no way to actually predict the price of bitcoin nor to even say what a certain event is going to do to bitcoin. But you are ALMOST right in listing out the possible situations for Bitcoin.

Only thing is you missed ONE of the THREE things which could happen. The price could either go UP, DOWN, OR STAY THE SAME after the decision. There is no inbetween about that, and there is no way
2744  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to do when being scammed on: July 26, 2018, 02:19:06 AM
Take it as a loss and accept it? I mean there's really nothing you can do with Bitcoin except attempt to expose the scammer for what they are an attempt to stop them from being able to scam in the future. You can't reverse a transaction with Bitcoin, once it's sent it's sent.

You're going to have to take this as a lesson and move on, it does suck to lose money but it's like losing cash -- be more careful next time in who you trust with your hard earned money.
2745  Other / Politics & Society / Re: #breaking Stormy Daniels arrested on: July 21, 2018, 06:34:31 AM
But anyway, on this whole Stormy Daniels thing -- I don't get why she is relevant anyway. She may or may not have had sex with the President 15 years or so ago? When he wasen't even the President.

I don't get the media and how they determine what is relevant to cover.

The claim is that if Cohen paid her on "Trumps behalf" then it may be considered an in-kind illegal campaign contribution with intent to influence the election.

That is why the timeline went like this:

Trump/Cohen denies everything.
Cohen admits to the payments and claims they were legal payments and that Trump and the campaign knew nothing about the payments.
Trump/Giuliani admit they knew about the payments and that Trump payed Cohen back.

The timing of the raid on Cohen and the back peddling is obvious.

Stormy's Lawyer claims that Trump will not make it to 2020 as a result of what he knows.

So the left media picked up on it and is running balls to the walls with it and the right is ignoring it.

So now we’re going after people for what??— breaking the campaign individual max contributions? You and me both know that’s a bullshit charge by an out of control special counsel.

This reminds me of the Clinton special counsel days.....

If Cohen wanted to influence the election he couldve spent millions on ProTrump super pacs and this wouldn’t have been an issue
2746  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Fuck politics it's a scam on: July 19, 2018, 11:45:36 PM
By voting, you acknowledge the system.    Cool

That's not true, by voting you ATTEMPT to change the system which is screwed. Maybe one day your vote will go to a candidate that will actually change things.

People may be bothered by the lacking of meaningful actions on their lives by goverment, but I would much rather have a government which minded to themselves (at least regarding my life) then one which is in my business and constantly harassing me with penalties, fines, regulatory changes, etc.

If you don't vote, YOUR VOTING FOR THE CORRUPTION RIDDEN SYSTEM.
2747  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What factors make price bitcoin go to the moon on: July 18, 2018, 03:47:12 AM
More people buying than selling. Simple economics dude.

Yes, there may be reasons for these people buying, such as news that Bitcoin is unbanned in some country or regulations aren't going to be coming for some time. These are REASONS for people to buy, not something which is forcing people to buy.

The only thing that is going to change the price is more people buying, it's plain and simple. We can have some of the worst news, such as bitcoin being banned in the United States and the price could still be increasing. The market (and the traders within it) follow their own thing.
2748  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Sell in bottom, buy on the top ^^ on: July 18, 2018, 01:56:52 AM
We don't know if the $5800 or so was the actual bottom until we wait a few more weeks/months.

However in general when the sentlement got bearish with everybody, it usually means the reversal might take place.

I've been frequenting Bitcointalk forums, Reddit , Twitter, Bitmex Trollbox and in the last 2 months, there are crazy amount of people that became huge perma bears. These people all wanted to see bitcoin go to $1000 and they were all short.

In the last few hours there was basically $100's of millions of dollars of liqudiations to prove it.

Also a few people I know locally, they all called me to tell me they got out of bitcoin because its a scam and they sold at $6000 earlier. A few other people asked me how to open a Bitmex or Bitfinex account to short bitcoin because they want to win back their losses.

Hence as you can tell the sentlement was pretty bearish for everybody.

Truth.

People right now are calling this small run up the BULL MARKET COMING BACK. But these same people didn't comment at all when we crashed from 20k down to 6, or from 10k back to 6 or anything down from what I just said. People are going to confirm their own bias by saying that they've called the top or the bottom.

The truth of the matter is is that NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THE MARKET IS FUCKING DOING. And you're just going to have to watch and see what the market does to you.

But I will admit, I've bought on the top and sold at the bottom too many times.

My strategy is buy on the bottom and sell when you get expected profit otherwise you can't predict the top, though the bottom but profit is profit.

So what you're saying is that you can call bottoms and tops? Wow. I wish I was you /s
2749  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are you now going to hold when the market is red? on: July 18, 2018, 12:31:12 AM
This conversation comes up time and time again, and I think that at some point people will learn that they're not going to be the ones who are going to be able to time the market. People need to watch the market, they need to sit on the sidelines and let the market do its thing. We've seen Bitcoin go from crazy highs to crazy lows, and over and over again.

I do think that Bitcoin is in a cycle, and there is no reason for you to attempt to time the cycle in any way, shape, or form. Let it do its thing, and watch from the sidelines.

I've been holding for a long time, and I will continue too.
2750  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Cryptocurrencies and politics on: July 18, 2018, 12:04:46 AM
I know that people here really want to continue saying that Crypto is going to be the thing that is able to take governments, politics, big banks, and so on and so forth down. But you really have to think about what you're saying, you're saying that our VERY SMALL tech is going to be able to overthrow trillions upon trillions of dollars of industry which has been created over hundreds and hundreds of years.

If we are ever something which is going to pose a danger to a politician, bank, lobbyist, etc etc. Then we're going to be crushed with regulation, bans, and so on and so forth.

The banks won't allow their grip to be lost, you have to understand that.
2751  Other / Politics & Society / Re: #breaking Stormy Daniels arrested on: July 17, 2018, 10:47:01 PM
I think she should be sentenced to death for this heinous crime. Letting another human being touch you is disgusting and there's no excuses for it. Off with her head.
No crime in this world is worth (death sentence) even though the person in question killed another.

I bet yea maybe this was a setup. NEVER trust what the Media reports especially CNN

Little off topic, but I wouldn't trust any news source at face value. Every source as a bias and you're going to have to research things by yourself to ensure that you're getting the genuine news from all sides of the story. The sad thing is that most people don't have this sort of time, and are not going to be able to get the TRUE story -- they're just going to get the biased story.

But anyway, on this whole Stormy Daniels thing -- I don't get why she is relevant anyway. She may or may not have had sex with the President 15 years or so ago? When he wasen't even the President.

I don't get the media and how they determine what is relevant to cover.

2752  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Who to blame: the people or the government? on: July 17, 2018, 09:41:02 PM
People are to be blamed especially when government of the day has created enabling environment for every form of legal business to take place. People are to be blamed if government provided conducive atmosphere for development as well as making Long lasting policies that will attract gigantic project and development in the nation.
Government has an entity should be blamed when it fails to make the necessary policies that will attract investors both local and foreign. Government should be blamed when it fails to actualize the purpose upon which it is voted for.

This is what should be done, we should BLAME GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS when they aren't doing (or at least, not trying to do) what they've been voted in to do. It's one thing to try and then fail, due to the nature of politics, but it's another thing to campaign with certain views -- and then change these views when you're in power.

I've spoken on this topic before, but we must continue to hold both sides accountable.

As the people do VOTE IN the government -- that's how DEMOCRATIC government works.
2753  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Obama borrowed 1.2 trillion every year he was in power. on: July 17, 2018, 09:25:59 PM
You do understand that practically every government has been borrowing money, including the more socialist leaning countries and even the countries that are far right. Borrowing money is something which has happened and will continue to happen until the end of time for countries. I also don't understand the fact that people will always blame the President in power during debt periods, as the President has little to no power when it comes to the budget negoiations -- as this is something that the Congress has a LARGE amount of power on.

Check out the world debt clock -- http://www.usdebtclock.org/world-debt-clock.html -- you'd see that even though America has the largest amount of debt, we're not the largest amount in debt when comparing our debt to our GDP. So our debt doesn't worry me as much as let's just say, Japan.
2754  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Supreme Court pick Brett Kavanaugh on: July 17, 2018, 05:20:05 PM
Just read this article relating to Kavanaugh. I think he knew that he was going to be picked to be on the court at some time, and knew that if he made a REPUBLICAN decision on the constitutionality of ACA he would never be able to make it past a deadlocked Senate.

Check this article out folks, it's a good read on how he dodged making a ruling on the ACA thing. - https://www.forbes.com/sites/kellyphillipserb/2018/07/10/supreme-court-nominee-brett-kavanaugh-penned-healthcare-dissent-focused-on-tax/#69066c604d6c
2755  Other / Off-topic / Re: Truth hurts,say it anyway. on: July 17, 2018, 05:05:40 PM
This is something which I hope is spread in the day where political correctness rules and people are ostrisized for speaking the truth EVEN WHEN it offends people. If we hide people from the truth all the time, all it's going to do is hurt them in the long run when they're exposed to it.

These same people that have hidden the truth for so long and have made our world so politically correct, are also causing the largest backlash I have seen in a LONG TIME. This is outrage at unprecedented levels. This is the reason for the rise of populist candidates around the world, and the rise of Trump in America.

The truth must never be shielded from a people, if this is done it will only hurt them in the long run.
2756  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 【ANN】Zixx.org【Now Listed on Cryptopia ! 】【Automated shared MN system on discord】 on: July 17, 2018, 04:21:53 PM

Nice, I will start mining..Great project!  Good luck all with this project.
It is very good already listing in Crtptopia, this project have good future also price is good .
0.00025161 BTC very nice.
That's right. Now the price has increased, the price is 0.00032. By the way, it is still growing and now the price in General seems to be still at the bottom, so the potential for growth is very large.

And now the coin is crashing, down about 50 percent.

I guess everyone in the bounty campaign will sit here and pray for it to run back up? Eh?

But-- this is my way of teaching the lesson that no one is going to be able to 'call the bottoms' and that the market does what the market wants.
2757  Other / Politics & Society / Re: shouldn't we plant billions of trees now? because on: July 17, 2018, 04:09:57 PM
shouldn't we plant billions of trees now?....
'
No.

You do that, you are disturbing existing ecosystems without caring about them.

This right here, if you're planting BILLIONS of trees you're going to cause a shit ton of problems for ecosystems which have already grown accustomed to not having these areas around. Plus the fact that I don't know where people plan on planting these billions of trees.

No one is going to be happy when you ask them to leave their homes (or force them to leave their homes) so you can plant some trees.

A noble goal, but one which won't come to fruition.
2758  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Request For Help From P&S Regulars on: July 15, 2018, 09:15:35 PM
I would like to ask the veterans of this sub to please start to snip some of the long quotes.  I have seen some unbelievably crazy long quote trails....

I admit to being guilty of posting as much as a week of the latest recorded Islamic extremist attacks world wide, out of the 31,000+ since 9/11. It makes a point, that of the unexpectedly long list even for a week.

I'll reduce it to the last couple days activity. Or just a link.

I'll admit to the same thing, just now am I learning how to quote individual things (as in, copy and pasting what someone wrote and then using the quote bbcode)

I'll make sure to fix it myself, sorry about that FH. I am happy to see this forum going in the right direction though, we've needed some moderation for a LONG LONG TIME. Thanks FH
2759  Economy / Economics / Re: The US Dollar has DEBT and Bitcoin has none on: July 15, 2018, 08:27:35 PM
You are simply wrong here, the US dollar holds NO DEBT. It is a currency that is being used and wouldn't be able to hold debt, as no one is going to lend money to a currency which has no way to pay it back (as a currency, of course, has no revenues or expenses) You're thinking of the US government and you're confusing the government that is backing the currency and the currency itself.

Bitcoin and the US dollar BOTH have no debt.

Bitcoin has no debt, while the US government does have debt (like PRETTY MUCH EVERY OTHER GOVERNMENT) That's just how it is.
2760  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Smart contracts and the legal profession on: July 15, 2018, 06:52:42 PM
I've seen people saying that this is possible to be implemented on a large scale to replace the legal industry, but this is going to be something used for VERY SMALL and VERY FEW deals. It's going to be used among the tech / crypto freaks which enjoy this sort of thing. Every day people are going to go to lawyers / do their own contracts with a witness, they're not going to want to get involved with some crazy code online that they don't understand when the traditional ways of doing things work fine for them.

I doubt it makes a dent personally unless we see some CRAZY innovation regarding Smart Contracts.
