1981  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [Opinion] Would a Community Managed Social Network be any good? on: August 21, 2019, 08:57:35 PM
Reddit is a community managed social network.

To some degree, so it bitcointalk.

Reddit is more community managed then Bitcointalk. Thought there is still an overarching policy from the company in charge of the Reddit platform, where they set what subreddits are okay and what is okay to be on a subreddit. Meaning that -- they can ban certain subreddits due to them not being within what they, or their advertises like.

So yes, while there is some moderation from the 'community' there is still overarching admins that handle what is OKAY to be on reddit.
1982  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump wants to buy Greenland on: August 21, 2019, 07:01:55 PM
Next in his mind:
Buying Hong Kong... they need help!
Buying Taiwan...  they need help!
Buying Venezuela ... they need help!
Buying Cuba... they need help!

and Buying the WORLD.

That's the Trumpzilla syndrome!

To buy and sell some thing is by its nature a voluntary transaction. The USA would only buy Greenland if at least Denmark agreed to the terms. Obviously none of those other nations would agree to be bought at any price, even if they had enough value to be purchased to begin with. Impressive visual with the Trumpzilla and all though, too bad your argument is hollow.

Obviously this is the thing that people miss. Greenland is never going to be sold to the US -- even more so now, due to the fact that Denmark has just cancelled a meeting with President Trump -- which I assume was going to be regarding the topic in question.

Buying and selling land is a bit of an issue if there are people living there.
1983  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Italy’s Prime Minister resigns snap elections to follow. on: August 21, 2019, 04:42:03 PM
I'd like to note that he resigned due to the fact that the people within his party were soon going to attempt to Vote of no confidence (VONC) him out of the role. So this is more along the lines of "You can't fire me because I quit"

But yeah -- after 14 months of populist rule the Italian government will see new elections and such.

No one knows where this is going to go -- as it could lead to a coalition of of more moderates OR a new government of further right people. Time will only tell though.
I thnk his coalition partner Mr Salvini made the move purely on the basis of his party's performance in the European Elections where they scored high points and he believes that should an election be held, they are going to gain the majority. For me, it's a really a smart play on his path but the outcome of the elections will entirely determine whether it was the right or not.

Could be a smart play, yes. But it could also end like Thersay Mays play when she tried to do the same sort of thing -- straight into the garbager because they overestimated their potential winnings, trusted the polls, and ended up losing in the snap election.

So -- this could without a doubt go either way.

I think what we're all interested in is what you're doing in your semi retirement in the space now.

Beyond curious what someone like you does with their time. I'm assuming you have enough to never have to work again, but just curious is all!
1986  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BEST APP OR PLATFORM TO TRADE SCALPING on: August 21, 2019, 12:53:26 AM
Take a look at Gunbot. It should have what you're looking for and more but I would only recommend buying it If you're familiar with trading. The bot has also a large community so it shouldn't be hard to find settings and strategies online.

Not trying to be rude or anything, but has gunbot actually shown an ability to generate profits? I would like to see this sort of data if so.

But back onto the topic: I don't think there is any application that's going to be able to consistently generate profits and it's pretty simple as to why this isn't the case: If someone was to find something / create something like this, they wouldn't share it with anyone, they would just use it themselves and make tons and tons of money.

1987  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [Opinion] Would a Community Managed Social Network be any good? on: August 20, 2019, 10:25:29 PM
First the stuff that everyone thinks is horrible is removed and there's no problem there, but when advertisers come in and want other things removed or the site is going to have to shut down people usually change their minds pretty quickly.

Well that really is an issue, I think even with some sort of community guideline etched in stone. Maybe they can just design the site so that the ads can differ depending on the post, like how in Youtube you can choose which videos you like your ad to show up? Maybe like the ad is some sort of signature that you only see when you expand that person's posts, like when clicking "Read more".

IMHO I think one way to make it really community-based is if it's funded by the community instead but I don't know how that would work since people these days expect everything to be free.

Yes but with this sort of site, with no real moderation allowing for some pretty horrible stuff to be posted -- they're going to not be able to fit the advertisers needs too well. Companies that are advertising on a site like this aren't going to pay too well, as it's going to be riddled with the bottom of the barrel ads -- such as investing tips, groups, scams, porn, etc.

This isn't going to be enough to support the network at all, and it's unfair to think that it will.

Sadly this isn't truly possible if you want the network to scale into the levels of Instagram, Reddit, etc.

Hmmm. Well, look at this forum. What are the companies advertising here? Yes, crypto related companies since all we talk here is mostly crypto. The advertising can be made so that it's related to the content. Like I make a post and then I chose 3 from a category of what can be allowed to advertise. Imagine FB's timeline but the ads only show up when a post is opened rather than them being posts themselves.

So basically users sort of pay to use the platform and if anyone does advertise on their posts then they earn. The point we just want with this is that since the users also pay for the service they have more of a say on how the platform is run. The community comes first and if it thrives then that's when some advertisers come but they'd know that what they can advertise is also up to the community.

Well the thing is this isn't a community run forum. This is a forum run by Theymos. This isn't decentralized in the least, and there's no ability for the members to have any sort of say -- they can advocate for certain things, but at the end of the day Theymos makes the rules around here.

Plus I do think that this is a very special circumstance due to the fact that advertisers have to deal with what we have here as this is the only real forum for Crypto companies to advertise on and generate a return on that advertisement.
1988  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How to stop paying taxes, and get out from under government control. on: August 20, 2019, 04:55:03 PM
This is an amazing guide if you want to get arrested, put in front of a judge and told that you have to do whatever they tell you because being a state citizen isn't going to work in the least. I've seen more and more videos of people doing this, but it still doesn't work.

This is some old BS that people try to cite from one of the original documents relating to the formation of the US. So just don't try this or you're going to get arrested.
1989  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Suggest me a good coin to invest in. on: August 19, 2019, 11:29:14 PM
Token which got burned, huh? Check Crypterium and Eidoo token.
Both of these tokens still doing the burning until now. IMO Crpt token even do burning 100k of their token in every week.

Most of these coins are just flashy marketing projects, with no real product in the background.
True, but if you have invested in promising altcoin, you can turn your investment multiple times.

Do you wanna know what the other side of the coin is when you invest in something like this?

The fact that your investment could turn into nothing, relating to bitcoin. Take a look at most / if not all of the shitcoins that are around today and see what their price is relative to bitcoin. I'd say most of them have went down in value, relating to BTC.
1990  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Suggest me a good coin to invest in. on: August 19, 2019, 11:19:35 PM
Bitcoin.

That's the only coin that has done well, altcoins have been in the shitter for a long time now and I don't think they're going to be able to recover. Plus the fact that most of the coins that people are going to tell you to invest in are LITERALLY just shitcoins that have no use in the real world at all. Most of these coins are just flashy marketing projects, with no real product in the background.

So yet again - BITCOIN.
1991  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Democrats are moving the goal posts, shifting from Russia to Racism on: August 19, 2019, 11:08:05 PM
Isn't it time that people stopped trying to attach stupid labels to politicians - names like racist, xenophobe, paedophile, climate denier, communist, Russian agent and the like. They should focus on actions like spending insane amounts on offence/defence to try to force regime change in asset rich countries with democratically elected governments. In the meantime, Washington is trying to turn America into a public toilet, and trying to force the poisonous food created in the US on the rest of the world. Americans deserve better than chlorinated diseased chickens, and chemically laden fruit and vegetables. How much healthier Americans would be if 80% of the drugs and poisons pushed by Big Pharma were not purchased or used.

Without a doubt going to have to agree with the first portion of this, once you put a label on someone you're unable to even think of their ideas clearly without thinking 'RACIST RACIST RACIST' So, that's not going to work out in the least.

Big Pharma though, I can't agree with. Yes, I can agree that they do sell some pretty horrible products -- but the key word in that sentence is SOME pretty horrible products. But they do sell some amazing products, products that wouldn't ever had been found without their research. Will they profit off of this research? Yes. But that's what you get when you discover something that the public deems valuable enough to purchase.
1992  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Should A Bar Be Forced By The Government To Give A Pregnant Woman Alcohol? on: August 19, 2019, 09:47:59 PM
I didn't watch all of the video , but it seemed that there were multiple issues involved.

The first one is fraud. If a person purchases a drink believing it to be alcoholic, and it isn't, then that is fraud in my opinion. If you don't want to do it, then state that you can only serve that person with an alcohol free drink.

The alcohol may not be the worst element in the drink. Some of the other ingredients may contain more damaging chemicals

Cheap alcohol is poison, and I don't think anybody should drink it.

I'm not a doctor, but I would have thought that a single glass of red wine could relax a pregnant woman, and provide her with an iron supplement that could be beneficial to both her and the baby. As with most things, moderation is the key - pregnant women shouldn't get drunk.

Lack of knowledge and education is another factor here. The mother should have sufficient knowledge, and care for the baby enough to avoid excessive alcohol, McDonalds food, sugary drinks, drugs or other harmful products.

Also I believe that more damage is done by the administration of pharmaceutical drugs to both the parent and the baby. I understand that the US now has a population where over 50% is sick or diseased, and is dependent on so called health aids.

Moderation is not key, what the fuck are you even talking about, have you ever seen a bottle of wine in your life? Almost all of them have a sticker with a pregnant women saying you shouldn't drink wine if you are pregnant. If a woman drinks during pregnancy the baby has the risk of suffering from fetal alcohol syndrome. Yes it's true that the more you drink the more chances the fetus has of suffering from the syndrome, however, even small quantities of alcohol can produce this syndrome even if it's unlikely.

Yep. Jet Cash has fully went off the deep end and now thinks that fetal alcohol syndrome is okay and is using the line 'everything in moderation'

Everything in moderation is a fine one to use if and ONLY IF the only person you're effecting is yourself. But when others are involved, that's completely unfair and horrible.

The bartender, if noticing a person is most likely pregnant (which is a tough one) shouldn't serve this person. Unsure of how well fines and penalties would work here, as it could be hard to tell if someone is pregnant.
1993  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Crypto Becoming More Accepted? on: August 19, 2019, 09:26:40 PM
To be honest, I don't think so. When I see people around me, barely anyone mentions crypto or thinking about accepting. That might be just my experience, I would like to be wrong in this case.

Adoption is slower now but we are heading in the right direction. Even though the price may have fallen, more and more people are getting into cryptocurrency.

But at the end of the day adoption isn't about price, or at least it shouldn't be. It should be about getting more and more people into accepting Cryptocurrencies, lowering merchant fees, and lowering fees incurred from sending Crypto -- as there's no way that someone could use BTC for a cup of coffee (or some item of this low value) if fees are congested. But people don't want to use altcoins as well, as theirs no easy on ramps to these coins -- as you're just going to have to buy BTC, then buy your alt coin of choice.

For most consumers, using Venmo to them is the same as Bitcoin -- but for Bitcoin they're having to manage a lot more, and pay a large amount more in fees (if using a debit card, of course) Obviously we know this isn't the same, due to the amount of control they have on Venmo over their funds (practically none)
1994  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fairlay withholding my BTC for currently no real explanation on: August 19, 2019, 09:21:56 PM
Reading Fairly Thread, I see there so many problems for their service with :
  • Match
  • Wager
  • etc.
Also, some people say their service support was really hard to contact. But the weird thing you need to pay some mBTC only to contact their support VIP, Don't know what the difference with the support service VIP or Non-VIP. Because of that, I suggest to everyone better avoid this service.
Back then contacting them or their support was an issue because there would be times when their chatbox isn't active. Other than their official email, the chatbox is the only way to get in contact with their support if you have a problem. But those problem you'll see in the thread are old problems and no one's complaining about their service recently until now.

I did tweet, I don't know about a Reddit - they claim a 3rd party has allegations against me but I can't think of what it could be. I know it's not source of where I sent my deposit, as I am still fine.

Do you have other forums/places I should be posting on?
You could try sharing your issue here in this subreddit. A user who had a similar issue (confiscated funds) posted his problem there and it gained a lot of attention.

While this site may be good for certain things, this should raise red flags for you right there.

If people aren't operating as a legitimate reputable business, one which has easy lines of communication between people -- then there's something shady going on. That's not normal at all to only have support through a chatbox, espically when you're dealing with online gambling where hundreds of thousands of dollars are crossing hands.

I'd continue to try to flag someone down -- as well as taking this as a lesson to only trust reputable sites.
1995  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Profitable Bustabit/dice Scripts that never fail. on: August 19, 2019, 08:56:52 PM
SCAM SCAM SCAM

So what you're saying is that you literally have a script, a piece of code, that has the ability to just straight up print money. But instead of using it yourself, for some odd reason, you've decided to sell it to people to make money. That would cause me, and many others, to think that this script can't be profitable -- because this game is random, and it's impossible to have a money printer like this.

If this worked, you would be the only one using it instead of 'selling this profitable script' to others.
1996  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump effect led to Israel barring the entry of two Congresswomen. on: August 19, 2019, 08:19:46 PM
Imagining visiting Israel but entered into the travel itinerary that you are vising Palestine? Meaning they don't believe Israel has a right to the country as a state. They didn't even request to meet any Israeli officials or to be meet by them. Thy just wanted to go look for something to spite Israel with as the visit is not with good intention in my own opinion.

The ban is a good move by all standard.

The idea of trying to hate people because of religious reason is all wrong. And there is absolutely no other real reason Omar is doing this except for being a Muslim.

+1 to this.

But you didn't give us the +1  Cool Cool Grin

This actually made me laugh, you get bonus points for this one! Hehe.

Time to make Israel a state of the United States.     Cool
Maybe that is where the whole thing is moving toward! In the spirit, Israel has been a state to America and that is why they keep defending each other interest daily.

That's not true in the least, Israel is not a state to America -- Israel is a close ally of America, yes. But it is not ONE with America.

Time to make Israel a State of the United States.     Cool

Pffft.  The U.S. is already owned by the Talmudic Jews who run Israel at this time.  The U.S. becoming formally a territory of Israel may not be as far off as some may think.  That's where 100 year of a having private central bank lands a nation because the owners issue debt-backed fiat out of nothing then take their interest in the form of real wealth.  100 years ago Americans understood this which is why the Federal Reserve Act had to be sneaked in in secret by corrupt scumbags and treasonous politicians, and it wasn't ready stick until (((they))) had a certain level of control over the press.

This is just one more in a stream of examples of our bought-n-paid-for politicians siding with a foreign nation over the American people.  It's disgusting.  I do agree that it has to do with the 'Trump effect' though.

Holy shit what the hell is this?
1997  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Crypto Becoming More Accepted? on: August 19, 2019, 08:07:27 PM
To be honest, I don't think so. When I see people around me, barely anyone mentions crypto or thinking about accepting. That might be just my experience, I would like to be wrong in this case.
Still 95% of people in this world not aware of what is crypto that is why we are not getting any experience about cryptos from the next door but when we compare the growth in the last five years surely we are heading to something better.

I don't know if I would go this far.

I think that a good deal of people in the world do know about Crypto -- they don't know how it works, but they do know that it is present due to the massive gains that happened prior to them investing.

Though no, I don't truly think that Crypto is becoming more accepted. I think that the story every couple months about one new person accepting Crypto isn't anything to be proud of, due to the fact that for every one person that hits the shitty news site of CCN for accepting Crypto -- there are probably 10x the people leaving due to it just not being worth the time, as there is no additional revenue stream present when you accept Crypto --> Obviously this isn't the case for all sectors, as some in particular (think about gambling, and illegal activities) don't have anyone else to go to for this sort of business).

1998  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [Opinion] Would a Community Managed Social Network be any good? on: August 19, 2019, 06:54:33 PM
Funding by a micro charge per post eliminates the possibility that small fringe groups or persons can spam the system, making it appear that a fringe opinion is mainstream. Those micro charges add up pretty quick if one is posting thousands of messages.

With this it's a matter of finding the right price though it's likely that certain parties would still be able to take that hit since they got money set aside for that purpose. I can imagine that the pricing would get tricky if it's an international sm platform. A trivial price for an American would probably be somewhat expensive for say, a Somali.

Maybe just give each free member a post limit based on how long they've been on the site and maybe a ranking based on community feedback. If they want to exceed that then they pay per post.

Why should the forum care if posters from Somali are disadvantaged?

The point of requiring a price to post is to completely eliminate spam. The alternative is an add driven site? The somalis do not buy from those adds.

But the thing is this won't cause an issue of spam, this will cause an issue of having people with large amounts of money boosting their opinion to look as if it is really popular (when it isn't) Doing a 'pay per like' system is just going to allow for a social media cesspool of corporate driven stuff.

Plus you're going to have the regular restrictions of ads as well, as people are going to want more and more money to further grow the platform -- as running a platform like this isn't cheap, even if it is a 'community'
1999  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Massive Dramatic Hongkong Protest Against Extradition Law on: August 19, 2019, 06:39:42 PM
Hasn't the Chinese government backtracked on the changes to the law. If this is so, then the protests are no longer relevant.

Don't you find it surprising that all the banners and protest chants are in English, and not in any of the local dialects.

It was a British colony till 99, of course the people are still speaking in English. Also the bill was only postponed. Not only do they want it formally withdrawn, they want all those politicians out as well. Currently the government in Beijing appoint every official in HK, down to the police.

It's been going on for at least a month now, we just have to watch if China would risk another Tiananmen Square to maintain control.

This is the thing that people miss.

Putting something on hold / postponed isn't formally withdrawing it. The Chinese aren't good people in the least. And when you see 1/5th of a nation walking around the streets protesting SOMETHING IS MOST LIKELY WRONG INSIDE THAT COUNTRY.

There's probably nothing that could unite that many people when it comes to everyday politics -- but this is above that for them. This is their sovereignty.
2000  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump wants to buy Greenland on: August 16, 2019, 02:46:36 PM
It was recently that I found out Greenland does not actually belong to the USA. It will be a great achievement if that really happens and I can't doubt the possibility. If Trump and indeed USA is serious about the deal, there are many leverages to use against Denmark and force them to sell. And I really hope that happens.

I still feel some form of regret knowing we once had genuine change at making Canada part of the USA but failed. Canada would have been better off being part of the United States than standing alone. Same with Mexico.  Grin Grin Grin

I envisage a scenario and time when Maxico, Canada, and Greenland would become part of the United States of America. Russia and China would have nothing to brag about in terms of land mass.

Without a doubt one of the better funny comments I've seen on here. Major respect for this.

But yeah, we all know this sort of thing has a negative 0 percent chance of actually happening. But it's something to think about, as we haven't seen the legal boundaries presented by a state purchasing land from another state (that already has legal inhabitants, businesses, their own laws, etc) Interesting.
