2121  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Government shouldn't outlaw Private Insurance and Democrats know that on: July 16, 2019, 09:07:23 PM
I had not intended for this topic to have gotten out of hand in going off-topic and such, though I'm going to be locking this topic to ensure that the two of you (and others involved) find a dedicated thread for this discussion.

Maybe make a dedicated healthcare thread? Could make things interesting.

Nothing against either one of you guys though.

Edit: Has been unlocked after further discussion
2122  Other / Meta / Suggestion: Remove Posts from people on your ignore list from your view on: July 16, 2019, 09:01:20 PM
I know in the current system it states the title of a thread the person has posted, or the forum will say that the post is by someone you've ignored. But for some of the people on my ignore list, they post so much garbage all the time that even seeing that little portion of the information is annoying as my page is filled with that.

Would it be possible to implement a change like this? So the people that I've ignored are not even on my screen anymore. Don't know if I'm asking for a lot here, but that'd be cool to see.
2123  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Insurance Companies are driving change in Law Enforcement on: July 16, 2019, 05:41:17 PM
The era of video phones has really helped change law enforcement as they are scared of committing wrongdoing and having evidence of it.

It is really tricky to put a dollar amount on a wrongful death.  No amount of money can ever bring that person back to life.

Insurance is really just gambling but the odds are against you or they wouldn't do business with you in the first place.

I'm not sure how men searching only men and women searching only women has any affect with the large amount of gay and trans people around, shouldn't really matter.

The phones have helped to show the good and the bad in law enforcement and are a great tool to combat against both sides having issues. I think LEOs should wear body cameras to ensure that both sides of the story are told in every situation. Instead of a, he said she said situation.

Tricky to put a price on human life, yes, no amount of money will bring them back, but Insurance companies can do this. They calculate the amount of money that person (with their age, education, work experience, etc.) would be able to generate over the number of years that would be left in their life. Insurance companies have perfected this.
2124  Other / Politics & Society / Insurance Companies are driving change in Law Enforcement on: July 16, 2019, 03:53:22 PM
This may not be common knowledge to most people, though police department (and other municipal departments) require insurance policies to settle claims with people who allege wrongdoing. The most common wrongdoing though, is committed by police departments, and it is typically much cheaper for the department to settle with the insurance company and have them payout.

For most large departments, this isn't an issue though, as they don't have too many claims to deal with and their insurance company has no problem paying out their claims after they pay their monthly premiums. They also can self insure themselves, as they have large amounts of funding from their municipalities

For smaller departments though, they need to band together with other municipal departments (such as the surrounding town departments) to get insurance coverage. As the insurance company will only cover them if they're banded together and they spread out the risk.

Though this opens up an issue with these smaller departments though, as when these smaller departments are riddled with claims and have to settle multi-million dollar lawsuits -- they're stuck between a rock and a hard place as they're kicked out of their plan and are forced to shut down their police departments -- as the risk of operating is too much for them.

This is where Insurance companies come in to recommend / force change on a department to ensure that the department is running properly, and can operate under their insurance plan. This isn't common knowledge, but insurance companies are the reason for a large number of changes in law enforcement.

1. Men searching men, and women searching women (pat-down, limits liability and the chance of a lawsuit)
2. Strip searches only in individual events.
3. Rules of engagement
4. Increased community outreach.
5. Insurance companies can even help with when to fire an employee (if they're too much of a liability to the department)

2125  Other / Archival / Re: should trump abolish propriety tax? on: July 16, 2019, 02:41:43 PM
This question should be rephrased to: Should the Federal Government overreach on its powers and force the local governments to collect fewer taxes to be able to run properly.

The local governments should have the control to operate with property taxes, like schools and police forces and so on and so forth rely on property taxes in order to operate. You can't just remove a program like this because you hate taxes.

2126  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Economically as a Country, Number One -Donald Trump on: July 16, 2019, 04:32:25 AM
Number one in being an economic powerhouse that the world relies on order to continue growing! If the US weren't present, the rest of the world would lose a massive consumer of goods and tech, plus an enormous provider of services (creation of tech - google, facebook, Microsoft, Twitter, etc. Accounting, Banking, investments, etc.) that makes the world function.

I hate these stupid little jokes about debt and such.

YES THE US HAS DEBT, AND THE REST OF THE WORLD DOES TOO. IF THE US CAN KEEP IT ALONGSIDE GDP GROWTH THEN IT IS MOST LIKELY OKAY. Public debt to GDP is what is going to be worried about anyway.

I'd rather see an AVERAGED balanced budget though. Not every year can be balanced, but on average if the budget is balanced some years, surplus others, and deficit other years, then it is fine as it is a net zero.
2127  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: RATING of TOP 20 BITCOIN SPORTSBOOKS on: July 15, 2019, 10:37:04 PM

Good to see that you're making a few bucks out of this whole thing. I'd include a message here that there are referral links on here and that the owner is making money out of this whole thing.

Not saying that is compromising the list or anything, but it nice to leave a note of that in this post to ensure that people know that information before they bet on a site that is 'reviewed' and also paid for (in a way)

Just sharing the PRESS RELEASE from Endorphina, a renowned casino game provider, about its Dinner in the Sky event in Amsterdam. Joining is easy. Click to photo to see the mechanics/PR and the trailer video.

They will serve dutch food?  Cheesy LOL
I'm kidding but the prize is only the dinner or they'll also pay the trip?
There is no clear information regarding the trip expenses. It is just a random pick from the registered users. This will get a win for the one with the biggest luck. The dinner is planned on the sky which is just 60 meters high. Being the leading developer of slot games quite often we can get to know about launch of new slot games from them.

'random pick from the registered users'

In everyday terms this means they're going to randomly pick an employee or manager or investor of the company to win this promotion. This is an easy way to get more people on the site, enticing them with some sort of BS reward.

Then they give the reward to an employee or something and they say it was given to a registered member. Isn't that great? BS. AVOID.

I do not think it is true and there might be no reward for anyone in the end. What I have learnt, a company may announce a dummy winner in the end and no one will be ever be able to know who got selected. This types of tricks are mostly used to increase the traffic or to increase the registered users.  Cheesy

I'd have to say that I'm plagued with a large amount of cynicism. Though I don't see the upside to give this to an actual member instead of just giving it to someone in house as a reward.

That's how the world works. But I suppose if they would be able to verify in some way that it isn't random that'd be great to prove some transparency.

2130  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever looked at how much you have wagered with a hanging mouth? :P on: July 15, 2019, 02:37:22 PM
Yep. I think most people do this later on.

The biggest thing that comes to mind is when you look at your old bets with the bitcoin price was low. At the time you may have been doing $100 rolls or bets on a team, but now this looks like you were gambling thousands upon thousands of dollars. Which is insane.

I have some dice rolls that are for 15k now. Which is not something I'd be comfortable with doing EVER.

I hate to rain on your parade here, as you seem to have put a lot of effort into all of this.

He'll never be arrested. He's apart of the political class that doesn't have to follow the laws. So, NEVER.
2132  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Best Twitter Responses To Trump’s Btc Tweets on: July 14, 2019, 08:05:40 PM
Great compilation. Big fan of this whole thing.

I think it's funny that there is a certain portion of the US that is learning about a new currency option through Trump, so they can do their own research and such. The people that already hate BTC are going to continue to hate BTC, there's no way to convince them since there are tons of people on CNBC, WSJ, CNN, Fox, etc that have already told them that BTC is for drug trades and that it is horrible for people.

The only people we can convince are the people that that are already skeptical about banks, and hate their banks and the BS fees they charge. The people that are fed up with the current system. There are tons of those sorts of people.
2133  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "Deportation vs. the Cost of Letting Illegal Immigrants Stay" on: July 14, 2019, 07:56:34 PM
It's ridiculous how it works, I had a friend when I used to work at McDonald's who was caught here illegally. They put him in jail and there was a date that ICE could come and deport him, otherwise they would let him go. He stayed in county jail for 3 months and then was taken on the last day. So not only were dollars funneled into holding him in a cell, but then they ultimately deported him anyway, its just ridiculous and stupid system.

Great system right? We're arresting people, telling them on a court date that ICE is going to come and deport them and then most people don't show up. We've wasted tons of resources with the judge, the ICE members involved in arresting him originally and then the ICE members going to get him at the end.

There's no reason for this sort of system if ICE knows that this person is being deported. What should be done is you should send them to the deportation facility INSTANTLY. No BS in between.

OR at least get a judge on the line ASAP to determine if the person is going to be deported. Either ICE loves job security and wants to waste tons of time, or US POLITICIANS (DEMOCRATS) are the ones at fault.

We also have another issue in the US, the fact that US businesses need to be heavily penalized for hiring illegal immigrants (if they do so knowingly)

2134  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do you think Trump changed his mind over the strike on Iran? on: July 14, 2019, 01:20:36 PM
I don't believe that he ever intended that there would be a strike. The consequences such as higher oil prices, and a rising death toll meant that it was a bad political play. I think he understood this from the beginning, and he used it to test his so-called advisers and aids, and to help discover who was leaking information. He has also used it to help maintain his image as a kind and compassionate man.

Well Jet Cash we have found one thing that we agree on.

I know the official reason from the WH was that Trump had looked at the death toll and said it would be too many for one unmanned drone, which I could see some truth for.

Though I do really do think that this was done as a political play as Trump said he wouldn't get involved in more foreign wars and WOULD pull us out of nations. We'll see I guess.
2135  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Society topic: I think it is about time us farmers jacked the prices of food. on: July 14, 2019, 12:54:49 PM

I mean we're not going to disregard the fact that the Dentist went to school for about 10 years to be able to work on your teeth. He is certified by his state and has to continue to pass ongoing tests to ensure that he's up to date on new information relating to dental care.

Did you spend 10 years getting paid nothing to learn all of this information? Going into large amounts of debt in order to go to a good dental school?

I don't think it's fair to rag on the Dentist here in the least.

I spent 31 years (20 not paid) to get all the information on farming. Yes my farm has gone in to debt, we are at the mercy of weather and right now it is raining down oil from dumbass spill`s all over our lands, making it even worse.
https://www.itopf.org/knowledge-resources/data-statistics/statistics/

I don`t blame the dentist, for the 2nd time, although he should leave me a fat fucking tip when he buys a basket of my fruit. They never do, at least here in Toronto, when I have a sign up that says $18 for a basket of cherries, they try and get it for $16 or $15 at the food terminal because they know I gata sell it or smell it. Not going to lie, I rather watch the shit rot in the fields and watch the mice eat it, then feed those types.

But then again, there's not as much of a barrier to entry (meaning the amount of education needed and required by law) in order to start a farm. I'm not trying to discount your business in the least, but you have to remember there are major differences in a business that is filled with manual labor and one that is a professional career which required expensive education, continuing education, and licensing and so on and so forth.

300 if not more of my hours, for 2 of his.

My work is harder and takes more life span off my life.
His job is easy, and he gets benefits and a real pension.

My education took longer, learn how to do irrigation, spray, planting, tractor driving etc etc takes many years to be good at.

WTF IS THIS SYSTEM! It is sad I can`t even fucking smile with my $3600 teeth fix because of how depressing this shit is by the way I went to another one they wanted $6000 for the same job, always check your options people. Still a rip off either way.

Hehe. Thought I would just chime in with a bit of a joke like this.
2138  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump Tweets the Word Bitcoin on: July 12, 2019, 03:47:13 AM
This is obviously to be expected out of someone in power that wants to retain their control on the banking system within their country. It would make little to no sense for him to simply be like --> Yes, lets just replace the Fed with Bitcoin so I can have less control than I do now over printing, interest rates, etc.

It's to be expected, so this REALLY shouldn't shock anyone.
2139  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Government shouldn't outlaw Private Insurance and Democrats know that on: July 11, 2019, 11:24:21 PM
I'll assume that by "corrupt communists" you mean a system that provides everyone with top quality healthcare so I can answer the question.  The answer is the top 5%.  Those who profit off of everyone's health insurance premiums.
The hordes of deadbeat civil servants? The corrupt officials that scrape their share of the money before anyone else?

the super wealthy.  We're talking about people who earn more than 300,000 per year.
LOL, at current rates that's about 11,250 per month in NY or CA.

Is that enough to buy a house in those areas?

Enough to buy a house, yes, but you're still going to have it mortgages as you're most likely still going to live out of your means (It's a great American thing that we do here)

After taxes from the Fed and NY though, that amount is going to be much much lower. You're walking away with about $191k after taxes.

You are correct about corruption but wrong about what I would like.  My plan involves reducing the size of the pot and would significantly reduce the amount of money being extracted from the system.

You might be honest, while I have my doubts, you are most certainly ignorant. Who do you think is employing the other 95%? What if that guy who makes 300k a year spends $250k in payroll every year? Suddenly this works for the 0

This is an invalid point.  This fake person makes 50k not 300k.  Income taxes are not based on revenue and the fact that you don't know that means you are either intentionally dishonest or way too rich or too poor to be in touch with basic tax concepts.  Besides, most people in that sort of situation described could use small business deductions like property depreciation or smart accounting to report their adjusted gross income to near 0 to pay minimal taxes.  The business isn't doing great.

I'm confused on what you're trying to touch on here. Are you saying that these small business deductions are leading to people paying no taxes and that's a bad thing? There's a reason for these taxes, and its to incentivize investment and growth. It also allows you to deduct expenses of doing business (which makes sense, as it would never make any sense to pay taxes on your revenue instead of income)

Can you clarify this portion?
2140  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Casino On Steem Blockchain on: July 11, 2019, 07:39:02 PM
Without a doubt it's pretty and all, but I see no real reason for something like this existing in the presence of tons of either coins that do the same thing. Do you really think that there is substantial demand to be able to support this?

I think most people are going to answer no to that, as they can see that something like this is doomed to fail. People are going to use BTC, XMR, BCH, and so on and so forth to bet. They're not going to use Steem.

I wouldn't waste valuable resources creating this and maintaining this, you could focus on so much more.

What are you talking about? Have you just missed everything that was said in the last 10 replies or so?
Magic Dice doesn't exist anymore, they have scammed.

That said, your comment doesn't even make sense, dice does work on Steem. There are numerous other services that do work and which are pretty popular.

Was just posting on the original post and hadn't read the posts thereafter, which I must admit is my mistake. So I'm sorry for that.

I don't understand why a site would exit scam for around $150k USD. Doesn't seem worth it to have people wanting your blood, law enforcement chasing you, and for you to never be able to get another job in the crypto world again.

THOUGH my original point stands. This was a stupid idea. There's no need for a steem dice site. We have other sites, and all this was was an attempt to lure in people with steem bags to make some 'passive income' and then steal it from them. The site itself obviously wasn't making enough to support the 'dividends' (bs dividends) that they were giving out.
