2781  Economy / Economics / Re: Irish Government Pays Artists & Musicians $330 ‘Basic Income’ Allowance on: September 15, 2022, 04:59:17 AM
The problem with artists is that only a few of them manage to make a living from it, being the normal thing that they combine their passion with jobs that give them a living.

What this kind of help does is to stop them from looking for a main job, even if they are mediocre musicians or writers.

In a market without intervention, the best ones live off their passion, others who are good but not so good have their passion as a part-time job and the worst ones disappear.

What this does is to support mediocrity, instead of excellence.

Having said that, I want to clarify that I am not against public aid to people with low income per se, but not as a universal solution offered by politicians to the problems created by themselves.
2782  Economy / Economics / Re: MAP of cbdc adoption over the world. on: September 15, 2022, 04:24:23 AM
What do you think when you see this map?

What I see is the same old fiat currency garbage trying to adapt to the digital medium as a result of the threat posed by Bitcoin. That some are more advanced than others doesn't tell me much. Surely if one of the big players, say China or the Eurozone, launches it first, rivals will speed up the process so as not to be left behind.
2783  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Scam Mixer] Cryptoswapper.net on: September 15, 2022, 03:51:36 AM
Aside from the fact that it's a shame about the OP's case, like many cases we see people being scammed and opening a thread here, when they could have avoided falling into the trap by doing a little research, I wanted to comment on this:

Dude... That's terrible - Why did you even bother with a mixer anyways, are you out of your financial mind? Huh

Did you get a certificate from them or anything ?

Fuck mixing sites, there is really no need anymore, I mean,... just... why? Huh

I don't know if it's sarcasm or what, since there are a lot of mixer advocates here, especially those who wear CM's signature. I have also seen others like franky1 defend the opposite, that is, that they put you in the crosshairs of the authorities.

Can you specify why you say this?
2784  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The description of the Topic Starter (OP) Hidden on: September 15, 2022, 03:42:37 AM
I didn't know what the OP abbreviation meant until I came to this forum. The first time I encountered the term I had to google it.  Cheesy
I assume that the term is known to members who have more experience with internet forums and message boards.

I don't know what the problem is with this. Anyone who doesn't know what OP means, which is widely known on the internet, should look it up like you did.

As it was said by Welsh, most users might not know the meaning or the reason adding the feature to their name.
I'd much rather thread starter, original topic starter or thread creator underneath their name or something, because I can guarantee it, not everyone will know what "OP" stands for. Anyone that has been using forum software for a long time, probably will, and sure they could ask if in doubt, but that increases the chances of them asking in that thread, and therefore going off topic or opening a new thread which will likely happen a few dozen times every year.

If you ask in the thread, it still gets a pass. But if someone opens a thread to ask that question, which means they haven't spent 5 seconds to google it, I'm going to put them on my ignore list.
2785  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Rise of Mobile Gambling Is Leaving People Ruined and Unable to Quit on: September 15, 2022, 03:34:12 AM
Considering all the aspects mobile gambling offers more advantages to gamblers. People can now gamble freely in their comfort zone. Non-stop gambling is also available here.

Yes, that's the problem, today's problem gamblers can gamble from home or anywhere else at any time of the day. Digital availability, that makes it convenient for someone who bets in a responsible way from home, is a potential danger for problem gamblers, because it gives an ease to go in gamble binges that was not there before the digital era. And it's much harder to stop when they do think about it, too.
2786  Economy / Gambling / Re: Poker tournaments why tournaments in other games on: September 14, 2022, 03:55:31 AM
However, the most famous poker players are people who usually have a lot of money to withstand any loss, perhaps that is one of the things why professionals recover quickly.

Not really.

10 Poker Players Who Went Broke

These are just 10 but there are many more. Even Negreanu went broke several times in the past:

Being Broke but Never Quitting: The Years That Built Daniel Negreanu’s Career

In the case of very high buy-in tournaments or even high stakes games, it is relatively common for professional players to play with the financial support of others (who provide part of the necessary funds in exchange for a share of the profits).

Poker as a career is not only about playing well, but also about having great emotional control and knowing how to manage your finances. Another very common thing is the players who become established and start earning serious money, many start spending as if there were no tomorrow, exponentially increasing their consumption and lifestyle, instead of taking advantage to ensure an economic cushion and a huge bankroll. Then come the rough patches and they have to go looking for financial support and stuff.
2787  Economy / Gambling / Re: Some Crazy Fun Facts About Casinos And Gambling You Might Not Know. on: September 14, 2022, 03:46:47 AM
It's depending on the situation. Yes a lot more elite people could go to Macau and that is why they have that much money going in the, and yes if we are talking about the numbers they have a bit more population surrounding them as well so more people could go there. But, ask someone from South Africa, France, England, Germany, Turkey, Estonia, or of course obviously USA which one they would prefer to go to and they will tell you that they will go to Las Vegas over Macau, makes a lot more sense.

The danger of being a foreigner in China is real for many people, call it propaganda or not, it's real, I wouldn't step a foot in China if I can, so far never needed to prevent it, but I won't do it too.

I am not very fond of the Chinese Regime and a priori I would rather go to Las Vegas than to Macau, but I would say that it is pretty safe if you go just to see the city and play in the casino. It has been a place where many poker players have gone in recent years to play high stakes games with Chinese millionaires mainly and I have not heard that they have had any problems. China's regime today is not like Mao's, it is open to business.
2788  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC dumps on high inflation report.. on: September 14, 2022, 03:37:36 AM
Peeps around the world has to overcome the previous loans and increased interest rate is not only applicable to new applications but also to the existing loans.

That only happens in variable interest mortgages as far as I know. Or the mixed ones, which have a variable part. I don't know how it will be in India but in the rest of the loans, such as personal loans, they are usually at a fixed interest rate and it doesn't matter how much the rates go up or down once the loan is signed. You are charged the interest rate of the contract you have signed without variation.
2789  Economy / Speculation / Re: BCT's drop and CPI Report 😧 on: September 14, 2022, 03:29:36 AM
Hey fam, today we saw one of the major 2022 red candles, not only for BTC, but, also on the crypto market. I have seen a lot of activity over social media regarding the 10% price drop and would like to ask if this is something you had already under your radar.

With all of the recent hype because of the ETH Merge, while still on a bear market, most of the narrative these days didn't even bring up the CPI variable before.

Anyway, in a bear market as we find ourselves, there is usually volatility, which means that any little thing can affect the price. The CPI report affected the markets in general.

Which are the next events that you think will negatively impact BTC prices? I was thinking about the next halving, but I would also like to hear all of you guys’ opinions.

The next halving affecting negatively? Explain that. So far halvings have positively affected the price and have the logic that as supply is reduced, the price tends to rise by the law of supply and demand.
2790  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC dumps on high inflation report.. on: September 14, 2022, 03:19:15 AM
Important report comes out that inflation is pretty bad (USD)..

Bitcoin dumps off a cliff..

It wasn't just that. In addition, the US stock market, which was in positive territory, fell and the S&P 500 closed at -4%, and the €/$ pair, in which the € was recovering, turned completely upside down as well, because investors expect that the US monetary policy is going to tighten even more in the face of this.

This is the exact opposite of what Bitcoin is supposed to do..

Bitcoin is not supposed to protect or fail to protect from inflation in the short term, in a few hours like yesterday. In short periods of time it gets carried away like the rest of the market, what we will have to see when this period of inflation passes is whether it has protected itself well from inflation.

Markets are completely dependent on BRRR nowadays. It can only normalize when the economy makes sense again. You know, old fashioned things like positive interest and higher savings interest than inflation.

I may be wrong but I believe that higher interests than inflation will not be seen. They will raise whatever they are forced to raise but they will remain below inflation and with the desire to lower rates at the minimum that they can lower them again. Economies are too dependent on liquidity and they are already starting to have a cold turkey.

Even if Bitcoin is supposed to protect against inflation, what is clear is that in this period there is less money available and less money circulating, therefore, it is logical that there is not as much money entering the Bitcoin market.
2791  Economy / Services / Re: POKER COURSES FOR SALE on: September 13, 2022, 02:13:36 PM
~And I think poker courses are not really that relevant as people get to know more and develop more skills in poker games if they often play it in casinos. I’m not saying that these courses are useless, but people actually learn more from their own experience.

It can be true of some things, but not about poker. Yes, you could learn a lot from your own experience if you were someone playing 20 tables at ones, 10 hours per day for 20 years, but it would be much easier, and faster, to learn how to play from a pro.

Well, actually that is an old discussion and after having played for a long time and having read a lot in poker forums, I could assure that there is an equivalence according to which studying poker is equivalent to many hours of practice. So if you want to learn and advance the best thing you can do is to study and play.

In low levels, when you start it is not so important but when you go up levels, and more with how hard the tables are nowadays, there are players who spend more time studying than playing.

2792  Economy / Gambling / Re: Newest Crypto Casinos and Bonuses - Updated Daily! on: September 13, 2022, 02:06:19 PM
Lol, another one?

It seems that as the market is growing and many millions are being moved, there are many people trying to carve out a niche for themselves.

What I would recommend is that if you want to be successful in this forum, think about something else than this thread, although if you start from a low investment, this does not cost you any money.

2793  Economy / Economics / Re: Rebuttal: Rich Mindset vs Poor Mindset on: September 13, 2022, 02:01:57 PM
Your point: The rich believe that money makes money.
My opinion: The poor also believe so, but they are not privileged.

When I started reading, I knew I was going to find this kind of garbage somewhere.

I don't know where you live but if you live in a developed country you live where there has been more social mobility and less privileges in the history of mankind. And if you live in a poor country not so much but almost, because if you think that the rich have privileges nowadays I would like you to take a walk in the Middle Ages to be working from sunrise to sunset for a feudal lord and you had just enough to eat not to die and continue working but suffering from malnutrition.

That's not to mention the droit du seigneur that certain feudal lords had over the peasants, which consisted in that when your daughters reached fertile age, about 13 or 14 years old, the feudal lord would deflower them.

What happens is that there is a lot of junk propaganda that wants to convince people that the world is worse than ever and that the solution is going to be brought by a politician through taxes and regulations. The bad thing is that the message gets through.

2794  Economy / Gambling / Re: Poker tournaments why tournaments in other games on: September 13, 2022, 01:51:42 PM
I think that they do get over the psicological aspects very early or else they simply have to abandon. Most professionals take the game level to a point that is pure mathematics. In the same interview, she explained that during the game she just thinks of the money on the table as "firing power" or "fuel left" to be burned and decissions are purely intelectual.

Well, that's fine in theory, but we're all human and even the most seasoned professionals sometimes let emotions get in the way of their gambling decisions.

First I want to repeat a distinction that I often mention in these threads but that most people don't seem to understand: between professional and regular players.

Both types of players are quite similar in that they are long term winners, take poker as a job and take care to make the most rational decisions possible (EV+). The difference between these two types of players is that the professionals are dedicated exclusively to poker and the regulars have a main job but with poker they earn extra income. That and the level of income. The average professional makes much more money than the average regulars, who can be found in micro-limits (although these regular are often people who are learning).

A regular or professional poker player when he bets, if he does it well, is not thinking about the value of the money the chips have, he is calculating an EV+ move in the most emotionally neutral way possible. A recreational player or fish, on the other hand, is usually an occasional player who is thinking about the cash value of the chips, going up if he wins or going into tilt if he loses. In both cases he usually ends up losing soon because even though he starts with a winning streak, due to the feeling of confidence and thinking that he is on a "winning streak" he makes even worse decisions than he would normally make.

2795  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin fees (subsidy) on: September 13, 2022, 01:40:31 PM
Speculating about what will happen 140 years from now is a fool's errand, since predictions in the much shorter term tend to fail, that is, the longer the prediction, the probability of failure tends to infinity.

The only thing we know that is foreseen is what Charles-Tim has said:

Conclusively, when all bitcoin are mined, miners would only depend on transaction fee, which should be sufficient by that time.

Next time you'd better do some research before:

Otherwise, the question you ask is a typical beginner's question and there are dozens of threads discussing it, the question is do we need another one?

2796  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Can a new address be generated without having received funds in Ledger Nano? on: September 12, 2022, 05:00:56 PM
I use ledger nano and when I want to receive funds it generates a new address as long as I have already received funds in the one generated the last time. Otherwise this address generated last time appears again.

In mobile wallets I would say that in Mycellium you can't, or at least I don't know the way, but in Electrum you can, because it assigns by default an expiration date that you can change to just 10 minutes.

I guess the solution would be to use Electrum with the ledger nano, which I was doing for a while, but I changed computer recently and I haven't installed Electrum yet.

Thoughts? Experiences?

2799  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Stake.com got recked by me on: September 11, 2022, 01:01:01 PM
Seeing the OP's behavior in the previous thread, bumping old threads about Stake and what he comments in this one gives me the impression that he is 15 years old. I'm guessing he's not because of the money he handles in betting, although it wouldn't be impossible.

Well, OP, now that you have "gotten even" with Stake are you going to stop talking about it in this section?
2800  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jay-Z and Jack Dorsey to gift Marcy House in New York 17.62 BTC on: September 11, 2022, 12:54:46 PM
I agree with the previous comments in thanking them for this initiative and in thinking that the publicity they do with this gesture will be good for Bitcoin. On the downside, it is not clear to me that it will have a very good practical result. If those who receive the $1k are people of humble classes, most likely they will end up spending it soon, after switching to fiat. But better that than nothing.
