1781  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Gambling 13 years later.......... on: April 16, 2023, 04:21:08 AM
$ backed by Bitcoin will be as big as finding bitcoin in 2010

That is not going to happen in the near future. Central banks have an easier time backing it by gold and are not doing so although China is rumored to be planning to do so. Bitcoin is too volatile as of today for it to serve as a backing.

What would not surprise me at all is if some countries decide to start mining Bitcoin. I think that will happen before they dedicate to back the currency in it, if that ever happens.
These are ideas that might seem far-fetched to many people today, but how gambling with Bitcoin might have seemed 13 years ago, and we see how important it has been in the history of Bitcoin.
1782  Economy / Reputation / Re: 5 Years, 5000 Merit and 7000 Posts. on: April 16, 2023, 04:09:56 AM
There is no obligation to post in any dedicated thread to announce anything.

No need to delete your topic in my opinion.

Just to remind you that I never spoke of an obligation, I think it is not necessary to quote myself, you can see my post above. In this case, as in the other of joker_josue I think that the community sees better that a separate thread is made for people who have made an exceptional contribution to the forum, and not just someone who has reached with a lot of effort Member rank but having twice the activity.
1783  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Duelbits won't send me withdraw amount on: April 15, 2023, 01:32:15 PM
I agree with the two previous comments. On the one hand it may be due to a normal delay between the withdrawal request and approval, and, on the other hand, if it is not so you should give more data and provide everything you can as screenshots because in this section there are many accusations of which a large percentage is then shown that it was the player who actually broke the rules.

1784  Economy / Speculation / Re: Where next for Bitcoin: $20K or $50K? on: April 15, 2023, 01:16:52 PM
Although we are closer to $20K than $50K, I believe like most of those who voted that it is more likely that the price will continue upwards, gradually, until it reaches $50k, without going back to $20 which seems to me too low for a dip, as it was the top of the previous cycle, and although as cycles progress it is normal for returns to be lower, it is still normal for lows as cycles progress to be higher.

I agree I don't really see a logical reason for price to drop back down to the lows, or even $20K for that matter, maybe $23K at most. But Bitcoin's price movement doesn't always have to be logical, or directly in line with it's fundamentals all the time.

This is key, although after a rise I would expect a dip, I think it will be higher than $20K, but we cannot predict with certainty with behavior as volatile as Bitcoin and less knowing that although there is some regularity in the cycles, the patterns we project won't necessarily repeat.
1785  Economy / Economics / Re: using credit card on: April 15, 2023, 09:51:50 AM
To your point -- all credit card companies make their money off of late fees and interest. If people aren't responsible to limit their purchases to within their means, a credit card isn't worth it.

People who spend more than they should, paying high interest on credit cards I'm sure are tremendously profitable for companies. I can't find data on how many people defer payment with credit cards and it seems to me that it is not by chance, it seems to me that the companies for some very good reason for them don't want to make it public.

We live in a credit-addicted economy, just look at how states spend. So it is not so strange that many citizens do the same, what happens is that these citizens do not have the power of the printer that many states have and they put a noose around their necks.
1786  Economy / Economics / Re: Does anyone notice the "investment cost" ? on: April 15, 2023, 09:36:29 AM
One question bothers me a long time and I am not sure if there is anyone that thinks about this before. Let's say you invested $10K in Bitcoin when the price was $20K,  and some time later the price pumped to $40K, which means the initial capital is now worth $20K. For some reason, you need cash urgently so you decide to sell the Bitcoin you own for cash. You do it and now you have that $20K on hand.

If you have to sell because of an emergency, you're doing it wrong. An essential principle of personal finance is to have an emergency fund of between 3 and 6 months' worth of cash. That if you live in the USA or a similar industrialized country could very well be the $20k you are talking about. In addition you may have other types of assets that you could borrow on at low interest rates if you don't want to sell the Bitcoin.

For example, at your bank you have $20k in an emergency savings account, $150k in pension plans, and another $50k in stocks or mutual funds, your bank will be happy to give you a loan if a supposed emergency exceeds $20k, but I for example in the last 15 years haven't had an emergency that exceeded 10% of that

So, if you manage your personal finances well you will not be forced to sell, and you can hold the Bitcoin for a couple of cycles at least, to then consider whether to make partial sales.

1787  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anti-vaxxers not drinking their own urine on: April 15, 2023, 07:21:50 AM
When I have talked to people in healthcare and they told me about young people being in the ICU or dying from COVID, the question I asked them was, but were they healthy? Most often they would tell me that they were quite overweight, or that they had a lot of risk factors (smoking, high blood pressure, etc.).
Not to be blunt, but so what?

So now what you say sounds more reasonable, as what you say usually sounds.

Yes, the majority of the deaths were in the older population (although I really wouldn't class 50 as old), and yes, many (but certainly not all) of the younger people in ICU with COVID had pre-existing conditions. None of that made it any easier on their bereaved families or on the hospital staff.

I agree.
1788  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anti-vaxxers not drinking their own urine on: April 15, 2023, 06:02:22 AM
So all my colleagues and I just mass hallucinated spending months in COVID ICU surrounded by people younger than us dying on a daily basis?

For the reasonable person that you are, I find it quite shocking that you repeat this, which I suppose is what you have seen, but it does not agree with what I have been told by people who work in health care, nor with the statistics.

The first page I get on google:

https://www.statista.com/statistics/1191568/reported-deaths-from-covid-by-age-us/

As we can see, the bulk of the problem is concentrated from the age of 50 onwards, and if we were to break it down further I think we could see that the majority of deaths in the 50-64 range are concentrated in the 58-64 range.

When I have talked to people in healthcare and they told me about young people being in the ICU or dying from COVID, the question I asked them was, but were they healthy? Most often they would tell me that they were quite overweight, or that they had a lot of risk factors (smoking, high blood pressure, etc.).

I don't know if when you say "younger than us" it's because you and your colleagues are like 63 years old on average so I would understand better what you are saying.
1789  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN] [banned mixer] Bitcoin Mixer | Sig Campaign | Up to 0.0036 BTC/W on: April 15, 2023, 05:51:40 AM
[1]: When reviewing applications, the campaign manager pays attention to many details, including; how informative and organic your posts are, for what and how often you get merit, do you have a customized trust list and do you use a feedback system.
No doubt I should have asked this before applying, but how does a customized trust list come into play when considering applicants?

I'd say for people like you, it doesn't matter that you wiped off your trust list. I wiped mine as well. The rest of the considerations about your profile outweigh the potential negatives of not having a custom trust list.

I'm also not sure about the "do you use a feedback system" thing, i.e., what you mean by that.

If you leave feedbacks to others, which you have done a lot.

(this is what I believe, icopress correct me if I am wrong)
1790  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The Digital Currency Monetary Authority (DCMA) Launches an International CBDC on: April 15, 2023, 05:25:03 AM
I do not think that the US has problems with energy dependence and there is a lot of oil produced in the US. US nuclear power depends on Russian supplies of fuel for nuclear reactors, but Russia also depends on the US, so they will always agree. A single government is a dream when there are 8 billion people on the planet, but they are struggling with it.

The USA produces a lot of oil, but three years ago it produced enough to not have to depend on imports. With the change in government and fossil fuels policy, production has been reduced and the USA now produces less than it consumes, so it has to import. There are no shortage problems but part of the price increase has to do with the reduction in production, apart from the war in Ukraine.

Returning to the subject, I see the CBDC of the IMF as unnecessary if the others are to be launched, and vice versa. If a digital dollar, a digital euro, etc. is going to be launched, why the CBDC of the IMF? If we were to move towards a world government, which I doubt very much, the IMF CBDC would be enough, and there would be no need to waste money and effort creating and maintaining the others.
1791  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How true is this statement? on: April 14, 2023, 08:38:08 AM
As odolvlobo says, the performance of past investments won't necessarily repeat indefinitely in the future.

If we knew with certainty that Bitcoin would outperform any other financial asset it would make sense to invest 100% of our net worth in Bitcoin, and there are people on the forum who do, if not 100% then an approximate percentage.

Being a little more cautious we can apply a principle of diversification and apart from investing in Bitcoin, have a house paid for or on the way to paying for it, having equity on it, and then you can invest a little in other sectors to taste, such as commodities, individual stocks or index funds such as the S&P 500.
1792  Economy / Reputation / Re: 5 Years, 5000 Merit and 7000 Posts. on: April 14, 2023, 08:30:48 AM
There is a thread dedicated to concentrate this kind of self-congratulary threads, to avoid having a lot of threads in the section of people congratulating themselves.

Announce your rank up, merit or any achievements that makes you feel great!

I think I had enough of these common topics like "Finally a member/full member/hero/legendary", "xday/xmonth/xyear legendary", "x is finally a member/full member/hero/legendary now", "1k/2k/3k/..../nk merit club", "one/two/three/n milestones achieved", "I am now member/full member/hero/legendary", "From beginner to member/full member/hero/legendary in x days", "Got my 1st/2nd/3rd/.../nth badge", "celebrating 1year/2years/3years/.../n years", "My/his/their contribution to the forum", "x men forum guide list" the list is way too long!

I understand that you get a pass on this because of what a high quality poster you are but I hope this doesn't set an example and go back to having a bunch of scattered threads of people congratulating themselves for having reached member ranks and the like.

Anyway, congratz for such a good contribution to the forum.

Can this be effective against the increasing numbers of gamblers?

I think not,

Not gonna affect people.

Meh, there will still be ways for organizations to promote gambling.

It would not have much on an impact in the amount of concurrent gamblers in our society,

I also think this will not create any difference in gambling.

It will lessen the exposure of gambling platforms but I do not think that it will have an effect to the gambling industries.

Nope its not, people will gamble even if they would not see those adds on their shirts since as long as they can see a opportunity to place a bet on their favorite team and there's a platform exist where they can do that they continue to gamble.

Nope its not, people will gamble even if they would not see those adds on their shirts since as long as they can see a opportunity to place a bet on their favorite team and there's a platform exist where they can do that they continue to gamble.

This doesn't make any big impact.

Not at all, any kind of stopping of promotions on some platform cannot stop or even reduce the people who gamble.

Nope.

Though it will not have that much impact, I think it is still a fair move for the league to implement this kind of prohibition to limit gambling sponsors. Though I do agree that this kind of implementation is just a "front" in order to boost their image to the public but it will not affect anything at all.

I agree with these fellas that it won't have much of an impact, if at all. In the end I think that gambling ads will be like tobacco ads, which will be banned around the world, although people will continue to smoke and gamble. If the public authorities wanted to, they could ban smoking and gambling, and although this would increase the black market, it would greatly reduce the number of smokers and gamblers. In the end, I see these measures as part of an overall policy of demonization of activities that is complemented by high taxes.
1794  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Miami 2023 Price Prediction on: April 14, 2023, 05:18:04 AM
A thread like this would be better off in the speculation section. Or would even be better in the G&R section with a prize for the closest match.

Now leading into the conference we are looking very bullish and I think we may have a chance to get to where we were at the 45k mark like we were last year, do you agree?

Yes, around that price seems quite plausible. It looks like the worst of the bear market is over and we are following moderate and sustained rallies, although I suppose that with a month left, the price may be a little below that figure.
1795  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The Digital Currency Monetary Authority (DCMA) Launches an International CBDC on: April 14, 2023, 05:08:38 AM
Look at the structure of the shareholders of the International Monetary Fund and read who is in charge there. How will the US go against its interests?

In the same way that three years ago they were a country with energy dependence and now they have to go crying to Saudi Arabia or Venezuela to produce the oil that they are not producing.

Their plans are made for several decades. One organization will control payments between countries. WHO will control all health care in the world, the UN will control a single army. Why does the world need so many states? I think you get my point.

I don't think so. You only have to look at how well Russia or China get along with the US to see that one world government is nothing more than a dream. There are too many regional interests to let that happen. Besides the fact that the experiments done in that way have turned out to have many setbacks, like the EU, where for example there is no EU army, but nation states.
1796  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The Digital Currency Monetary Authority (DCMA) Launches an International CBDC on: April 13, 2023, 03:11:02 PM
If CBDCs are launched in different countries to control citizens, their spending and pay taxes, then on a global scale such a project will help control many countries. The technology is already working and it makes no sense to fight it, so you need to lead the process.
There may be other reasons to get a budget for such a project, but it is very small for such people.

I don't see it clearly. It would be as if for years, apart from the Euro, the Dollar, the pound sterling and other currencies, the IMF had its own currency that was accepted as legal tender in these countries (eurozone, USA, UK etc). I do not know if this CBDC is one more step in taking away the hegemony of the dollar and Biden, with his cognitive decline, does not know about it so will not do anything to prevent it.

The service thread has already been deleted by moderators. Jr BM has tried to collaborate by rectifying his mistake, but even so, the way he started is a botched job that makes me wonder if he is not really 16 years old. I wouldn't hire him at all.
1798  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The Digital Currency Monetary Authority (DCMA) Launches an International CBDC on: April 13, 2023, 07:57:40 AM
Yes, I heard about the news recently. The question I have is what does the IMF need to launch that CBDC for, because as of today the IMF does not have a currency. Or the other way around, if the big countries are going to use this CBDC, as the news says it is used for cross-border payments, I don't know why they are going to need a CBDC for each one.
1799  Economy / Reputation / Re: Jr BM asking for 300 positive comment in his service thread via bounty campaign. on: April 13, 2023, 07:41:06 AM
It's already started. How you are looking at this?

Can't that be dealt through reporting? I think massive spam is usually dealt with.
1800  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rigged Game on: April 13, 2023, 04:29:20 AM
My question is how can one know that their game is rigged?

I'm going to talk about what I know more about and that is that in the fiat poker houses, such as Pokerstars, Pacific and many others, the randomness in the distribution of cards is more than proven using databases and statistical programs. The recreational player who loses money complains that he is rigged instead of blaming it on his own bad play or variance, but the houses make money without needing to rig anything.
