1801  Economy / Reputation / Re: Jr BM asking for 300 positive comment in his service thread via bounty campaign. on: April 13, 2023, 03:02:37 PM
The service thread has already been deleted by moderators. Jr BM has tried to collaborate by rectifying his mistake, but even so, the way he started is a botched job that makes me wonder if he is not really 16 years old. I wouldn't hire him at all.
1802  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The Digital Currency Monetary Authority (DCMA) Launches an International CBDC on: April 13, 2023, 07:57:40 AM
Yes, I heard about the news recently. The question I have is what does the IMF need to launch that CBDC for, because as of today the IMF does not have a currency. Or the other way around, if the big countries are going to use this CBDC, as the news says it is used for cross-border payments, I don't know why they are going to need a CBDC for each one.
1803  Economy / Reputation / Re: Jr BM asking for 300 positive comment in his service thread via bounty campaign. on: April 13, 2023, 07:41:06 AM
It's already started. How you are looking at this?

Can't that be dealt through reporting? I think massive spam is usually dealt with.
1804  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rigged Game on: April 13, 2023, 04:29:20 AM
My question is how can one know that their game is rigged?

I'm going to talk about what I know more about and that is that in the fiat poker houses, such as Pokerstars, Pacific and many others, the randomness in the distribution of cards is more than proven using databases and statistical programs. The recreational player who loses money complains that he is rigged instead of blaming it on his own bad play or variance, but the houses make money without needing to rig anything.
1805  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warren Buffett Blasts Bitcoin as 'Gambling Token' as BTC Surges 35% in 30 Days on: April 13, 2023, 04:19:29 AM
Uncle Warren is angry again.

No, he is not. I've seen him in an interview talking about it and he didn't seem angry at all, in fact he usually speaks quite affably. It doesn't change his mood for Bitcoin to go up and down in price.

I don't know why you give it so much importance. He is from another era and at this point in his life he is not going to change his mind. He became a billionaire in a fiat world buying companies that produce goods and services, he doesn't need bitcoin for anything. He missed most of the rise of tech and only very late bought Apple.

His are companies that produce goods and services by beating inflation, let's see if we understand, it's not just that he doesn't like Bitcoin.

1806  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much effort should one put into Bitcoin investments on: April 12, 2023, 05:06:13 AM
Soo in general how much should one invest in Bitcoin should it be "how much you can easily invest without stress " or "as much as you can invest at all cost"

I would put in a moderate effort, and, in fact, I do. Investing in Bitcoin is one part of an overall wealth building plan, but in that part there is always room for spending. You have to maintain a balance between thinking about the future and living in the present.

In your specific case, if you want us to help you, it would be better to give more information, such as age, family situation, work situation, etc.

It is not the same if you are 50 years old and have dependents than if you are 25 years old and have just started a very well paid job.
1807  Economy / Economics / Re: using credit card on: April 12, 2023, 04:58:52 AM
I think that's also their goal in terms of marketing, so that it's easier for us to spend our money, to be honest when using a credit card it's as if we don't feel like we're losing anything with our money even though at the end of the month it will be a disaster...

There is a concept regarding this called friction, which is that people tend to spend less at higher friction.

The greatest friction is with cash.
Then there are the debit cards
And then credit cards.

Using credit cards people spend 50% or more than using cash. This is something that the big companies that decades ago were reluctant to accept card payments have well studied, and what they do is to facilitate payments as much as possible with a minimum of friction so that people pay more. Amazon is another example of facilitating payments with minimal friction. Paying with your mobile or smartwatch also means less friction than having to take your card out of your wallet.

In the end, paying with credit cards, as you say, you don't even realize it, you don't feel it, but the problem comes at the end of the month with the bill and many people end up deferring payments and paying high interest rates, which is what the credit card companies are interested in.
1808  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tilt in gambling on: April 12, 2023, 04:44:54 AM
Have you experienced tilt over the long game?

Yes, I have experienced it, as have all of us who play poker. Over time, I have come to control it quite a lot and it affects me less, but sometimes it is inevitable that it affects you, especially when you accumulate many sessions in negative, when you keep losing against players clearly worse than you. In those cases the best thing to do is to learn to recognize that you are entering tilt and close session.

I understand that in casino games, even if they are EV- the best thing to do is to recognize it and close session.
1809  Economy / Reputation / Re: Dabs for to offer escrow service? on: April 12, 2023, 03:25:11 AM
I agree that it does not seem appropriate for him to continue to advertise his escrow service in his signature until he resolves his debts.

But the moral of the story I take from it is that he registered on the forum in March 2012, when a Bitcoin cost $5. With different management of his finances, the story could be very different. Many of us dream of having known this world back then. That people like him resort to debt does not make me confident that Bitcoin will move us away from the debt-based financial system. Just stop by the lending section for a sample.

By the way, it seems that it is already late for loan repayment. Do we know if it is due to lack of updates in the lenders' threads or what?
1810  Economy / Economics / Re: using credit card on: April 12, 2023, 03:12:53 AM
i am weak at economy, is it wise decision to use credit card?

No, it is not. The build up credit score thing is another hoax. Credit cards are the product most aggressively marketed by the industry because it is the one that benefits them the most. Starting with you when you are young, financial institutions hope to have you hooked on credit for life, ideally spending beyond your means and paying interest on late fees and the like.
1811  Economy / Economics / Re: Quit borrowing on: April 11, 2023, 04:54:09 AM
Borrowing is normal.

That is the problem today, and among other things that is why Bitcoin was created.

Above all, the problem is that it is normal to go into debt to consume. One thing that makes the difference between rich and poor, or rather between people with a rich mentality and people with a poor mentality is that the latter get into debt to consume, to impress the neighbor, because "I deserve it", YOLO and the like, while someone with a rich mentality either does not get into debt or if he does it is to invest.
1812  Economy / Economics / Re: Invest your money wisely - another lesson, Techie tries to suicide. on: April 11, 2023, 04:41:04 AM
Let me correct you:

... The Techie who is just 23 years old had invested gambled a big amount of money in the Crypto space. The investment gamble when asked him was around INR 30 lakh ~ $ 36,600 in US dollars...

He was trying to jump from the largest bridge on the river named "Hooghly" to end his life.

The investment gamble was not his alone but he collected the money from various sources. He took loans and also was using the pension from his mother. Definitely, he had no plans and no idea what he was doing. He scammed his mother.

You are presenting the case as if the protagonist was a poor victim of circumstance and had been forced to swindle people in order to gamble in the cryptocurrency casino, and no, that is not the case, no matter how much he tried to commit suicide. What takes the cake is that he swindled his mother out of her pension fund to gamble.

Just save up your bitcoins in cold storage, only buy what you can afford to lose and most importantly don't fall for the traps of crypto space.
Bitcoin is the only savior in crypto and if you own the keys, you win the market.

For that type of person, advice is useless. They are too impatient. They can't put up with years of doing DCA to get a 3x every 4 years. They need more, much more, and they end up losing everything, including the money they swindle from others.
1813  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Martingale strategy in casinos on: April 11, 2023, 04:27:07 AM
Martingale strategy in casinos. How do you feel about it?

It is not a matter of feelings, it is a matter of knowing that Martingale is a fucking garbage strategy that only makes you lose money while you insist on believing that it or any of its variants is a good strategy. You say so yourself:

...but more often the result is negative

So deep down, no matter how hard you try to deceive yourself, you know it doesn't work. And no matter how much we explain it to you and insist on it in this thread. It's a cyclical thing. In a week, or a month at the most, we will have again someone opening a thread about Martingale saying that it worked for him or that it didn't work for him because he had bad luck but that it really works and crap like that.

1814  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [NEWS] Elizabeth Warren says she’s building an anti-crypto army in new campaign on: April 11, 2023, 04:14:59 AM
Is anyone really surprised by this? Her position is not uncommon among politicians in general. In this forum we have people from all over the world and I am sure that the average politician has very similar ideas to Warren, unless you live in El Salvador. The only politicians who might favor a space for Bitcoin as Satoshi dreamed of would be libertarian politicians of which there are almost none. Few in the US and even fewer in the rest of the world.

Add to that the number of members of this forum who defend democrat or socialist policies, which consist of more power and control by the state, while using Bitcoin with maximum privacy, which is paradoxical to say the least. If that happens in this forum, how can we not have politicians who basically want to KYC all Bitcoin transactions and have them as perfectly identified as bank transactions?
1815  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The war is on on: April 11, 2023, 04:04:40 AM
We will have to see the argumentation, because it is clear that shitcoins are not commodities. So, I don't know what they are going to argue that they are. If they are going to argue that they are commodities they are going to waste time and money.

Lmao, Does anyone in crypto space manage to beat SEC in regards with technicalities?

I don't think so, and I also think that this is not so much a question of discovery as of definition. In the crypto space at the legal level things are what the SEC says they are, not what others think they might be. For the SEC to change their mind they have to see very cogent arguments.
1816  Economy / Economics / Re: Automating your savings will help you save more on: April 10, 2023, 09:10:31 AM
Saving money isn't something easy, it comes with determination and self-discipline but with automatic saving one can easily set his/her saving amount at interval.

I don't think so, I think what is really effective is pre-saving. You just set aside an amount for savings/investment, either automatically or manually, but you just charge, that's what works. Waiting until the end of the month to see what you have left over to save doesn't usually work.

I have never used automatic savings and I have saved and invested a lot over the years, so the conclusion you draw, although it may be true in some cases, is far from useful for everyone.
1817  Other / Meta / Re: What is the great mistake that you ever done in bitcointalk forum since you join on: April 10, 2023, 08:59:22 AM
Not taking advantage of artificial intelligence to create several accounts on the forum using it as leverage, while others continue to whine about it. I'm sure more than one of those crying now will be using AI every day in the near future in the same way they use the internet or mobile today.
1818  Other / Meta / Re: AI-generated post discussion thread: how to identify & report on: April 10, 2023, 08:54:11 AM
At the end of the day I think we'll lose this battle either way. AI bots will get better, humans will get tired.
That is the future I fear: the internet as we know it will cease to exist.

As if the internet has been with us humans for thousands of years.

The internet practically killed the sending of letters, phone calls from landline to landline, maps, paper newspapers, etc., etc., etc. Related to this, and also to what I commented in the previous post, it has also practically killed the camera, flashlight and diary businesses just to point out a few examples.

When an innovation like this bursts in you have two options: complain and try to stop it (in vain) or try to adapt. I don't know how you see it but the way I see it, if what you say materializes:

... create a bunch of accounts on Bitcointalk, start posting, join signature campaigns, and make me money!", and by the time that works, it's a lost cause for humans.

the difference between a shitposter creating accounts with the AI and you is that you will be able to have them in the top 100 merit earned, while he will not get any. Another thing is that you don't take advantage of the opportunity and you'd rather lament while others take advantage of it.

Maybe I'm too pessimistic,

Yes you are.
1819  Economy / Economics / Re: Finance is a jigsaw puzzle. on: April 10, 2023, 08:42:06 AM
Well, I understand that when you say "finance" you mean "personal finance". It is common for humans to draw analogies between some activities and others, but the way you see it is far from being the only one.

For me, more than a puzzle, it is a straight path, a list of 7 easy-to-follow points (https://www.ramseysolutions.com/dave-ramsey-7-baby-steps):

Step 1: Start an Emergency Fund ($1K).
Step 2: Get rid of consumer debt.
Step 3: Complete Your Emergency Fund (3-6 months of expenses)
Step 4: Save for Retirement (15% of your household income).
Step 5: Save for College Funds.
Step 6: Pay Off Your House.
Step 7: Build Wealth.

See how easy it is.

1820  Other / Meta / Re: AI-generated post discussion thread: how to identify & report on: April 10, 2023, 08:35:04 AM
At the end of the day I think we'll lose this battle either way. AI bots will get better, humans will get tired.

We are already losing it. ChatGPT is being integrated into our lives and work environments in the same way that the Internet began to be integrated 25 years ago and cell phones 15 years ago. We can swim against the tide all we want in this forum to stay in the dinosaur era as the world continues to progress thanks to the internet, mobile and AI.

I am all for AI, especially if it is used as leverage, where the human rewrites and adapts, and not just copy-pastes.
