2081  Economy / Economics / Re: Turning the Corner Into 2023 on: December 31, 2022, 01:42:02 PM
My finances are doing quite well, despite inflation, but for the coming year I wish the forum members good health and good personal relationships above all.

As for money the best plan is slow and boring, little by little improve your financial situation, that's how I have done it and I have done very well, plus without realizing it comes a time that your wealth begins to compose and grow more than you expected, but the good thing about following a slow plan is that you are prepared to handle it, not like lottery winners or NBA players, which in a high percentage end up in ruin in a few years.

2082  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Those who survived previous winter, please share some courage! on: December 31, 2022, 01:35:42 PM
Those who've seen previous bear markets, survived several winters, please share some hope and courage.
This is not the end, right? Smiley

I have been investing for years, first in the stock market and then also in Bitcoin, and in the end it is always the same. If the financial asset you buy is good, whether it's Bitcoin or Johnson and Johnson stock, in the end in the long run it always goes up. You have to take advantage of times like this to buy cheap.

Other than that, you've already been given the best advice:

Don't buy altcoins.
Buy Bitcoin.

Don't trade.
HODL.

Don't store your bitcoins in exchange wallets (read a topic in my signature)
Use self custodial wallets.
2083  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cashless Gambling, your thought? on: December 31, 2022, 05:00:32 AM
Well, to some extent there is already cashless gambling, the gambling that is done online, but this measure refers to gambling in land-based casinos, to which from the citizen's point of view I see a fundamental disadvantage which is privacy: if you have to pay by card, your bank will know that you gamble, and potentially the government as well. This does not happen with cash. And banks take this into account as a risk when giving loans, if you are a gambler and you ask for a loan, the interest rate will be higher and maybe they won't even grant it.

In the eyes of the government, it is indeed beneficial but if we are talking about credit cards and bank accounts I assume there are also bankers heavily involved in this new sets of laws. I assume they will get highly pleased to pocket some extra cash out of the fees.

I don't think it is good to reduce the available options for people who partake in an activity as gambling or any other legal activity it can only serve as a precedent for the forced implementation of Central Bank Digital Currencies.

Yes, I believe this is part of a global plan to make societies as cashless as possible, which was a wet dream of governments and central banks, and still is, but was cut short by the emergence of Bitcoin.
2084  Other / Archival / Re: Long-term Bitcoin accumulation continues on: December 31, 2022, 04:53:07 AM
This was pretty much expected, seeing the price of bitcoin these days it makes a lot of sense to accumulate bitcoin for longer term. It's like bitcoin is available at more than 70% discount. This a really good buying opportunity and one should definitely grab it. Even return investors who are interested in buying or even averaging bitcoin this is the best opportunity for you.

I think so, although we have to keep in mind that this cycle has been a disappointment in terms of expected returns and that probably for future cycles we would do well to think that there will not be returns as spectacular as those of the first years.

That said, I think we are in a clear buying zone, as they say in the stock market, or for those of us who do DCA, to increase the amount to buy if your economy allows you to do so.

If we are clear that Bitcoin is the best digital gold, and an excellent payment system especially for transnational payments and in large quantities, we must also take into account that more than 90% of Bitcoins have already been mined, and that within 4 years we will reach the figure of 20 million. With all this, we must accumulate Bitcoin to the extent of our possibilities because it is an excellent and very scarce commodity.
2085  Economy / Reputation / My ignore list and my feedbacks. on: December 30, 2022, 06:09:33 AM
I want to make my ignore list explicit, something I have seen that sometimes it has been done and also so that no one is surprised if I do not respond to certain people. It is clear that if I do not respond it is because I do not read them.

I'm going to leave the thread locked for now, although I may open it for discussion in the future, but as of today this ignore list is not open for discussion, as it has no implications other than to make my forum experience more bearable. My feedbacks are, because they have implications for the people to whom I have left the feedback. In the hypothetical case that I have to review a negative feedback to someone I have on ignore, I could temporarily remove them from ignore.

2086  Economy / Economics / Re: Passive Income? New Start-Up Would Pay you to Share Personal Data on: December 30, 2022, 05:29:15 AM
I don't know, the news is strange to me and I have tried to access it but in order to read it you have to be a subscriber, to have a paid subscription.

On the one hand, I think if it was something that intruded on my privacy, I wouldn't sell it for $50, but on the other hand, as paxmao and avikz comment, we are sharing data anyway.

I imagine that this company has an idea of monetizing that shared data that they don't have access to, because even if google has it that company does not.
2087  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the motives that drive you to gamble? on: December 30, 2022, 05:10:30 AM
and sometimes It is My Wife that motivates me when she is giving me extra funds to risk in gamble as she Knew that sometimes I have this luck and may bring us both Winning  Grin

Lol, assuming what you say is true, your case is exceptional.

Everyone always hopes to win in gambling which to point out it's really money that drives and motivates, they may call it profit or winning but it's still money. A person doesn't need to be addicted to gambling b  because with just the motivation to double his money, he can try gambling for a day and quit the next.

What motivated me to learn poker was to make money, which I did. Not huge amounts, not enough to quit my job, but for many years now I have been making extra money. In the case you mention, casino games, the money you can win is punctual, in some sessions, but you lose money in the long term.
2088  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy Bitcoin before the banks and governments do on: December 30, 2022, 05:02:49 AM
I think governments would buy Bitcoin for the same reasons they hoard gold. While they cannot control the network, they can manipulate the price if they buy massive amounts of Bitcoin and then sell it. While those of us who HODL and believe in Bitcoin as a means of freedom will be undeterred, it can cause panic and make a CBDC look appealing to those who don’t understand what Bitcoin really is.

I think this is something I also think, and I think you are not the first to comment on the forum, but with 19,246,875 Bitcoins mined, some millions of Bitcoins lost, and the holders that we have, I think that if that were the case, the influence they could have on the price would be less than with gold, although yes, they could influence.

One thing about bitcoin is that it can be owned anonymously that is to say, government might own bitcoin,...

They already are buying.

I also think so. Without knowing for sure, Bitcoin purchases could have started.
2089  Economy / Reputation / Re: My ignore list got a Christmas cleanup on: December 29, 2022, 06:03:09 AM
Well, I guess my case is different, because I think I do not have many shitposters on ignore, some like cryptoboss and such, I rather usually report shitposters but those who have years of experience in the forum with certain knowledge as franky1 or Timelord2067 I put them on ignore and I have never regretted. I think that the ignore is a great tool to avoid messes and headaches.

In my case it's not a matter of giving them a second chance, it's giving me the opportunity to have a more bearable experience in the forum.
2090  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price 2023 on: December 29, 2022, 05:57:20 AM
It will continue to fall mate , Bitcoin mostly happens to drop value mostly before the season of halving , so when we are expecting at 2024-2025 then the year before that will probably come to slower , and with this I assume that from the bottom this year of 15k ? we will see even 10k and sadly maybe below that.
but with our continues support and adding in our folio it would make it strong and keep this value through out the year of 2023.

If you're going to rely on halvings and theories that say Bitcoin cycles tend to repeat a similarity based on them, you might as well say that all the years of the previous cycles that were like 2023, i.e. the pre-halving year, had positive returns, namely 2019, 2017 and 2013.

The only way I see that there are no positive returns at the end of 2023 is a total break of pattern, so who knows what predictive models are established, because this cycle, while keeping a certain similarity with the previous ones, has already broken some schemes, such as the maximum that has only been 3.5x and the minimum, which is already months below the previous ATH.
2091  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: withdrawing bitcoin - newbie - advice welcome on: December 29, 2022, 05:16:07 AM
So....can anyone advise?

How is the ATM bitcoins issue in the UK? From the way you write I understand that you are from there.

What I would do would be to install a wallet on my phone, like Electrum or Mycellium, which are free, withdraw from the casino to your Electrum or Mycellium address and if you want to change the funds to cash, the easiest thing would be to go to a Bitcoin ATM and change them for cash there, although some time ago there was a crackdown in the UK Bitcoin ATMs and I do not know if they are operational now or if they ask KYC, but for low amounts it is usual that they do not ask for it.
2092  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Responsible gambling on: December 29, 2022, 05:11:04 AM
I consider myself a gambling addict. However, unlike gambling addicts, I'm aware of my addiction and I know how to control it. What I love most is playing poker and also sports betting. The latter is the one that screws me the most. Even though, I can get some real good profits,
sometimes I get wild and end up losing all of my money.

To avoid, running after the loss, I have set up the responsible gambling in my account and it helps me a lot to control the bad beats against my will to recharge my account and ending up losing it all again.

Learn poker strategy, as well as bankroll management and psychological aspects and you won't have to worry about that. When you've been playing poker for years like me to earn money and earning it, playing poker is just another job. Well, a side hustle, because it doesn't give me nearly as much money as my main job, but it gives me a nice extra income. The bad thing is that you lose the excitement, except when you level up or something like that, but in my case it gives me constant and regular extra income.

Any of you guys uses the responsible gambling feature? If so, what do you think about it? Is it helpful or does it only gives you a sense of control

Very early on I used them, and I think they are positive. So if you think they're good for you, well done.
2093  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Death Cross on Weekly for First Time in History on: December 28, 2022, 05:12:31 AM
My Prediction: This might lead to a leg down and that will mark the bottom of this cycle.  Roll Eyes

Without getting into technical analysis, I have been following the Bitcoin price for a few years now, and I have the feeling that we have either already hit the bottom or we are very close. I think it's a good time to accumulate more. Most of the leverage and junk has disappeared, and if we look at the hashrate, for example, it is doing very well.

Without being fortune tellers, we can be sure that the current levels are very good purchase prices if you are going to keep the investment for a minimum of 4 years, even if we are going to have volatility and downturns along the way.
2094  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Licenses and Casino reputation on: December 28, 2022, 04:54:19 AM
I do not much about the bureaucracy behind casinos, but perhaps the whole licensing has more to do with the owners of the casinos behind able to freely move their money around bank accounts of different countries without raising any suspicion from regulators about illegal activity.

Probably, If I showed up at London with a bag of Cash and claimed I own a casino (to explain the origin of the money) authorities would ask me for a license.

I'm sure that's the case as well. Even more if we think that what many casinos say in their ToS is not true, like that if you go over a certain amount in bankroll or wagered, they will ask for KYC and in reality they don't ask for it, or that if you live in certain countries you can't bet there and in reality they let you. This sometimes gives problems because they do ask for KYC or block you for playing from a certain country when you have won a large amount, but of course many do not implement what their ToS says in a strict way.
2095  Economy / Economics / Re: What was your lowest point financially? How did you go through it ? on: December 28, 2022, 04:45:31 AM
My lowest point was the 2007 crisis. From one day to the next I found myself without a job and without savings, without money. Since then it happened to me like in the movie Gone with the Wind, I promised myself like the main character that it would never happen to me again, and I kept my promise. At the moment I have 4 sources of income, savings and investments. I was almost unaffected by inflation. I have seen prices go up, but since I had increased my purchasing power, I have been able to pay with the price increase and still save and invest more.
2096  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin decimals. Is 1.00000000 Bitcoin the same as 1.000000000000 Bitcoin? on: December 28, 2022, 04:37:04 AM
If we add 4 more decimals, is 1 Bitcoin still just as scarce or do you consider it artificial injection of supply?

-
Regards,
PrivacyG

It sounds to me that this has already been discussed several times on the forum, and the answer is no. You have a gold coin with which you buy 4 loaves of bread and you divide it into 4, so instead of buying 4 loaves today, you go each day you buy 1 loaf. Is that inflation? No. It is a subdivision.
2097  Economy / Reputation / Re: Members Asking For Neutral Trust To Be Removed on: December 27, 2022, 04:54:38 AM
The timing of this has coincided with a particular signature campaign being managed by a particular campaign manager who was vouching for a neutral trust to be removed from a participant but I will not claim that is the only reason I am receiving PMs,

Yes, well, a manager who himself has 6 neutral tags changed from negative and who seems to care so much about neutral tags that he disregards them when accepting people into his campaign:

Quote
Both joker_josue and NdaMk had a neutral tag on their profiles before signing up for your campaign. If you doubt the quality of their "product", then why did you accept them in the campaign in the first place?

For me it is more a question of ego, of someone who is overflowing with ego and runs $100 a week signature campaigns now, so his ego is even more boosted. I'm curious to see if he wins the antihero award, as you have to think that people who get paid from his campaigns or think they might do so in the future are unlikely to nominate him for that "award".

At the moment he has quite a few votes.

2098  Other / Meta / Re: BitcoinTalk censorship discussion thread. on: December 27, 2022, 04:37:36 AM
Censorship here in the forum is not on discussion, ideas, or freedom of expression, but only on violating forum rules.

So it is not censorship. Censorship itself has a political component: you ban other people's opinions because they express political ideas you don't like, and that is non-existent in Bitcointalk.

2099  Economy / Economics / Re: The poor people with their reasoning on: December 27, 2022, 04:28:43 AM
Quote
The worst people to serve are the Poor people. Give them free, they think it's a trap. Tell them it's a small investment, they'll say can't earn much. Tell them to come in big, they'll say no money. Tell them try new things, they'll say no experience. Tell them it's traditional business, they'll say hard to do. Tell them it's a new business model, they'll say it's MLM. Tell them to run a shop, they'll say no freedom. Tell them run new business, they'll say no expertise.

They do have some things in common:

listen to friends who are as hopeless as them, they think more than a university professor and do less than a blind man.

I agree with previous comments that point out that this is a generalization that we cannot take as true. I would say that it makes more sense to apply it not so much to those who are poor as to those who have a poor mentality. Normally the two things go together but there is a small percentage of poor people, which I do not dare to quantify, who try to improve in their work, to find another job, and with that extra income, they can save and potentially invest. These people, even if their starting point is poor, have the mentality of the rich and actively try to get out of poverty. This is for industrialized societies. If you are poor in a desert area of Somalia, you probably can't do anything.

It is difficult to convince those who do not have that mentality to change. Maybe the only thing that can motivate them is to see examples around them whose starting point is the same as theirs and they make progress.
2100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advantage of accepting bitcoin in business on: December 27, 2022, 04:12:05 AM
I see many stories like this on the forum, from African countries but mainly from Nigeria, which is the largest African community we have. Sadly, it is not representative of what happens in the rest of the world, where Bitcoin is mainly acquired as an investment, and although there are sites to pay with it, people rarely do it. But anything to help expand the knowledge and use of Bitcoin is welcome.
