281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Whales Store Their BTC on: August 03, 2022, 10:41:40 AM
I don't think they will have anything special if they're a big person, the educated person will hold their coins on hardware wallet, while uneducated person will hold their coins on web wallet or exchanges. Even Elon Musk did hold his coins on shady wallet exchanges e.g. freewallet.

While exchanges are mostly use hardware wallet or cold storage and multisig wallet. Multisig wallet is needed to make sure there's no one will rob the money, so when they want to send large funds from their hot wallet, their core team will know and there's no miscommunication etc.
I agree and this reminded me of a topic here where the discussion was about this Nuclear vault-type safe to hold the wealthy Bitcoin access Info which some of us even believe was way too much then. I think we might be overthinking that those whales might be doing things way different from what some other Hodler do in storing their Bitcoin like the hardware wallets but I think they could be the same and also being more careful with the access info too.
282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC or Gold Investment? on: August 02, 2022, 05:25:59 PM
I think this topic suitable on Bitcoin Discussion board.

Now back to the topic, I want to invest in BTC. I believe it's completely decentralized and it is spread all over the world. If you think about profit, you should invest in Bitcoin.
I have always believed that making an Investment should always be about making a profit however some of us might not be able to invest in some items as others and some might really want to be extra safe with investment, in this case, Investing in a less volatile product like Gold might be an option but Bitcoin has proven to be a great Investment.
283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are Early Adopters rich? on: August 02, 2022, 11:39:06 AM
Maybe a few, just saying though, because as we know most people who were not really core Bitcoiners then didn't take Bitcoin seriously whether it came to them by way of winnings from Games played like in this case and spending what all of us now see as outrageous now.

Sziky on the bitcoins won at the 2011 Starcraft tournament: “I didn’t take them, I asked them to pay me $ 40” – Games

Bitcoin Pizza Day

So for those that for some reason were able to hodl what they had from the early days of Bitcoin, of cause I should believe so.

284  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In a world of financial oppression Bitcoin is the the only escape route on: August 01, 2022, 05:50:27 AM
I woke up to a slamming email from my bank today on government new duty stamps that will be sucking a whopping #50 from each deposit of #10,000 and above deposits,  this made me wonder on the level of the audacity of the government who has failed to provide a good micro economic environment for the teeming youths who have found Bitcoin trading as the escape root to financial over-reliance on the government and lack of jobs opportunities. With this over-taxation, a lot of people like myself will opt to hold and receive money through Bitcoin to avoid this crazy bank stamp tax that is aimed at robbing the citizens to enrich corrupt political office holders.

I hear you and feel the same way. However, I can't seem to confirm if it was directed to all Banks to be honest. I didn't receive that message from my other Bank only from that Online Purple Bank (I dint want to mention their names) and I received a deposit in my other bank account after that mail and didn't notice this charge however, I did notice an additional charge outside the regular SMS charge like, "VAT on SMS" among Maintenance and VAT from the Orange color Bank.
Like @hatshepsut93 said,
And then you have to convert your Bitcoin to fiat to be able to actually pay for things, which means paying transaction fees, trading fees, withdrawal fees. Until you are able to go anywhere you want and always be able to pay via Lightning Network, Bitcoin isn't really an escape - at best it would lower some fees.
Until we really get to the day where we can buy or pay for every good/service through Bitcoin as easy as we want, we will still be coming back to this issue cos we have to for now, convert that Bitcoin to fiat which will still go to your Bank account and the Government will still have a piece of it.
285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will be running in your mind if Bitcoin reaches $1000 again on: August 01, 2022, 05:25:08 AM
Bitcoin has gained so much popularity and recognition in the past few years that it rose from nominal prices to almost $69000 in 2020. It however gained hundreds of billions of dollars in capitalization over the years. The situation has changed with both appraisals/approvals and backlashes on the cryptos by some countries, especially government officials.

Inflation is another problem, and they have successfully caused Bitcoin to remain at lower levels compared to its all-time peak of almost $69000. Its market capitalization today is a little above $454 billion, which is still a good value. However, in events that more backlashes and higher inflation negatively affect the crypto some more and finds itself at about $1000. What would be your reaction? Will you turn your back on Bitcoin or has your investment just begun on it?

As for me, my investment has just begun. I have learnt from my past mistake.
I know they use to say, Anything can happen in Cryptocurrency but I don't think this will happen because for Bitcoin to drop back to around $1000, there must be something very wrong, ether the whole world had decided to dump Bitcoin, and before the price even gets there, most investor would have dumped their hodl and miners will definitely stop mining which would be another bad news for the network...it would be a total disaster for Cryptocurrency not just Bitcoin.
286  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What altcoins would you invest $ 1,000,000 in? on: July 31, 2022, 05:24:22 AM
Hi everyone!

We are all partly investors, we are trying to find the token that will bring us good x2x5x10... We will scatter our several thousand in different places with the hope of a good income. Feel free to manage your deposit, take into account risk management, etc.
But the situation is interesting, imagine that things are going well and at one point your deposit is $ 1,000,000.
What would you do and how would you behave? What altcoins would he invest in? Perhaps you would keep in stable positions while waiting for a great situation to enter the market?
What altcoin / altcoins would you choose and what would you invest your million in? Huh

I think the best option now, given the risk-to-return ratio, is:

$NEAR

$FLOW

$DOT
$1M Investment in Alts Grin Grin Grin No way. Hypothetically, with that kind of cash flow, I might consider investing 10% in BnB which is obviously one of my favorite Alts to invest in, and even at this current price will be having about 340 BNB that I could stake as well but the whole 90% of that cash is Invested in BITCOIN no question.
287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is helping to eradicate poverty in poor countries on: July 30, 2022, 09:52:19 AM
I came across a post on how bitcoin is and can  really help in financial inclusion especially in poors, especially in poor countries where averege income is as low as 30 dollar a month.
I think we need to focus on educating people on crypto. Once educated people will embrace crypto with open arms.

https://news.electroneum.com/cryptocurrency-can-help-empower-the-billions-of-unbanked-and-living-in-poverty-find-out-what-electroneum-is-already-doing
This doesn't have anything to do with Bitcoin but I understand once people hear Cryptocurrency they think of Bitcoin however I don't think that what they are saying can actually happen. First people, need to have access to android phones and data which is still going to be a problem with the poor folks in achieving any of those outlines they put out there like this one:
Quote
two-thirds of the world’s 1.7 billion unbanked people have a mobile phone. For those who don’t, the Electroneum US$60-smartphone enables them to access the internet affordably, and therefore more easily be able to become financially included.
so they want people survive on less than US$2 a day
Quote
Currently, about 600 million people are living in extreme poverty, which means they survive on less than US$2 a day, according to a World Bank study.
to buy an Electroneum US$60-smartphone  Grin

Electroneum ATH was $0.207854 back on Jan 06, 2018, even the 2021 Bull market couldn't impact positively on the project, I can see the desperation.
288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shiba Inu's future on: July 30, 2022, 09:16:18 AM
According to my observations I think that this coin will grow but not really sure whether i should try to buy and hold some or try micro trading. I'm sure that there're lots of experienced traders who can give me an advice
I am not really a fan of meme coins but if there is one meme coin I would want to invest some amount in just for the fun of it, it would be Shiba Inu. I too think amongst all meme coins, this is one I believe will do well considering all the project has been able to put out at the end of the day, it is your choice to invest or not but be sure it is what you can afford.
289  Other / Archival / Re: Bitcoin is King on: July 29, 2022, 06:55:39 AM
But are these people wondering if the cryptocurrencies they see as diversification will still be in their top 10 spots in, say, 3 years?
After a lot of experience in the market and how i have lost money on plenty diversification, some of the things that I have learnt are;

- Diversification can be good and can also be bad. If you choose to diversify your cryptocurrency investment before you can accommodate it, your money may be swallowed up or reduced in the process of being invested in speculated cryptocurrencies that they told you will last the test of time.

-You can diversify in crypto for the short-term, but for long-term investments in cryptocurrency, bitcoin should be your number one choice always.

- If you must diversify your investment, don't over do it. Pick one or two other coins in addition to BTC and be content. Buying over 10 cryptocurrency may do you no good.

Totally agree. I believe some of us get these ideas twisted, Investment should always be for the long term and Bitcoin is the best case in this and a few Alts can be looked at as well but some think because long-term investment is always being argued then they can put money in just any Alts for that amount of time. Nothing wrong with diversifying but most Alts are good for short-term trading.
290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The unpredicted rise of BTC in 2022-2023 despite predicted bear market on: July 29, 2022, 05:51:24 AM
Bitcoin may not go all bullish until 2023 but it will definitely take us out of the bear market.
What it basically means is that we will soon see a bottom of bitcoin price and then start rising upwards.
But we will face many corrections inbetween and it will take quite some time to go back to the ATH level.
May be by the end of 2023 we can come out of the bear trend completely and start going bullish in 2024.
That's what I think and things can go differently ofcourse.
I can relate but I don't think we will be out of the bear market until we are actually out of the bear market. What am I saying, if you look at January- march 2022 when this market was already in a dip, we could have believed that there is a reversal in play as BTC price went from around $33k+ to $48k+ and after that, the market started declining again. So, even what we are seeing now with BTC price might be the same and this is expected with price action even in Bull season, however, I do agree that the market might not see a new ATH until after the BTC Halving.
291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Now is the time to just wait for the price of Bitcoin to come down. on: July 28, 2022, 04:48:58 PM
The cryptocurrency market has been collapsing since December 2020. In the meantime, one unfortunate incident after another has hit the market. The frustration is even more evident in the way various unfortunate events are happening around the world. The war in Ukraine, for example, has led to inflation in many countries. It is difficult to say when the market will see the light of day after overcoming these problems. For those who want to invest in cryptocurrency, or have already invested and want to avoid losses, there are several things to keep in mind, as different people have different opinions about where the crypto market may turn in the future. Many are hopeful that the market will turn around by the end of this year. If you have to invest, you have to wait a few more days. Because if you invest in a downward market, you will get a lot more profit.
Only if you sell when the market dips beyond the price you bought. I think this can not be over emphasized, Investment in Bitcoin should be seen as a long-term investment, at least, till your investment hits another ATH but some of us keep thinking that investing in Bitcoin should only be seen going up but the market doesn't work like that so if you are not confident, DCA. Anyone that Invested since Op made this post should be in GREEN now cos I believe Bitcoin was trading around $19k+ on 05 July 2022 and @ $23k+ today 28 July 2022.
292  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Satoshi is not dead, what is he doing? on: July 28, 2022, 10:17:47 AM
And,
what,,, wait,, is it so important for you to know what he is doing? Whoever he is and whatever he is doing right now, let it be and we cannot assume whatever it is.  Grin

Well you don't find it interesting that there is a good chance that satoshi is still in this forum just under another username. Maybe if the right research is done it would even be possible to uncover who it is. Anyways if you follow the media about Dorian Nakamoto I think Im not the only person interested in this.
So what is the intent of doing this research of uncovering who Satoshi really is? Is there some positivity that you believe it will bring to Bitcoins growth like someone on a different topic thinks knowing who Satoshi is can reduce the value of Bitcoin. Of cause it could well be that Satoshi is somewhere anywhere doing what (s)he/they feel, which should be, and the rest of us should enjoy what Bitcoin has turned out to be.
293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Advice from a stranger on: July 27, 2022, 06:26:34 AM
Is it true that new altcoins are the best to invest in right now? Someone said you can easily make better profits from new projects than investing in old altcoins that have already x their values already, what do you think? Good or bad idea.
It is a 50/50 thing for me even though I wouldn't just invest in any new project just because I think I will make more from it, I could also lose everything from that investment, however, if the project is convincing and seems to have the potential, I might invest cause it is all about taking that chance, however, only 10% of my investment can go into New projects.

Metaphor of Bitcoin: Radio Frequency 93.1 Bitcoin Seminar

July 23, 2022
Ignorant People are still falling for bitcoin seminars in the rural and some major cities in the world. I was listening to 93.1 Radio Station in my locality. And a programme pop up titled, "Metaphor of Bitcoin". Which the presenter and the sponsor of the programme were try to explain the Metaphor of Bitcoin and I was provoked, they provided a phone number for the interested people to send text. What the sponsor said that made me provoked was, he said, Metaphor of Bitcoin is an Investment Platform (wallet) whereby bitcoiners can used to make money. It is a decentralized system in which nobody can control another person coin (s) even the developer of the software. It also uses per to per (p2p) system. And the presenter was asked to explain the p2p system to the listeners and sponsor said, "it is just like meeting whereby members among themselves give money to the person that is due to collect". Later he put it in this way. It is a contribution of money among people. Although to some extend he was correct but I called the number  which was provided and explained p2p to them in detail.
Quote
Peer to peer means, it is the direct exchange of goods and services (asset) among users of digital currencies without the interference of the national authorities.
I recorded part of the programme, I would have uploaded it but this forum doesn't accept audio. So I used another website to upload the audio. See link to the audio http://sndup.net/gchb

Finally. Then I thought to myself. The Knowledge getting from Bitcointalk is enough for me. They can't deceived anymore. I have learned and known. See
My First Encounter/Experience With Crypto-Currency (Bitcoin) 2015

Isn't this the usual problem where everyone is still trying to rip some people off when it comes to Bitcoin or other crypto asset investments? This person clearly knows they don't know enough to teach others about Bitcoin and not just the Investment part which of cause is the most attractive part to talk to people about since all the presenter wants is how to make money off them but understanding what Bitcoin is, is very important. So, while educating people about Bitcoin is important, miss education is another problem hence people fall into the wrong investment and see Bitcoin as even more of a scam.

295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your ultimate choice? on: July 26, 2022, 04:47:01 PM
So, guys what will be your choice from these coins and why? Any specific reason? - BCH, AXS, EOS, BTC, ETH
From this list, it will only be Bitcoin and Ethereum for me. I believe we can all agree that there is no other like Bitcoin in terms of everything Cryptocurrency/Investment and Ethereum will be my second choice as ETH too I have come to trust even though not as I would Bitcoin and like I said, the only two am comfortable in putting my money on for a long term Investment.
296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investing In Cryptocurrencies For Tuition Fees on: July 26, 2022, 06:04:00 AM
Depending on crypto investment solely for my children's future education isn't the best idea for me but I do however believe that if it was a long-term Investment, way before the children go to college and these are free funds without needs which should be the case with Crypto investment, then I would do that but will not depend solely on this for my children's education as we know that crypto market can not be really predicted.
297  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC Ever Reach $100k? on: July 25, 2022, 05:46:23 AM
Arguably, the most significant driver of Bitcoin value is its future price speculation. There have been several speculations of BTC price by top crypto influencers, while some have come to pass but it appears that the 100k price milestone appears elusive.

The $60k prediction came to pass but BTC has since lost more than 65% of its ATH price.

Do you think that BTC will ever rise to and above 100k in the near future? Wil it be before or after the next Bitcoin halving or this price would never come?

What's your opinion?

So because some people made some predictions that didn't come true means Bitcoin cannot go further? Everyone has the right to say what they want and for those that their predictions came thru doesn't mean they actually knew it was going to, that's why it is a PREDICTION.
Look at where Bitcoin is coming from, and even from 2017 ATH, Bitcoin dropped about -85% to $3k+ and still come to an ATH of $69k+ which is about 2000% or even more.
I strongly believe that Bitcoin Investment is not a today/tomorrow ROI type of thing but you have to understand taking advantage of market positions like now and grind it out till the next ATH.

298  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stablecoins is a good way to keep and save money or not? on: July 25, 2022, 05:27:11 AM
What do you think about stablecoins, some scandals around them and their future? It is interesting to hear the opinion of the members of bitcointalk
Well, that was supposed to be the aim of using stablecoins, to save your investment mostly when the market is falling into a Bear season but what has happened some time ago now cast some doubt if stablecoins are that safe to hold your investment for a long time. I still would use stablecoins I don't think we can totally run from them but we can look into other options of holding out the money in a long bear season if you don't want to hold all in stablecoin or better still use different stablecoins and not just one.
299  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Educating people on Bitcoin for free on: July 24, 2022, 06:38:21 AM
Despite the fact that just a few countries have made Bitcoin a legal tender, the truth  Bitcoin is going to be adopted by the whole world as a decentralized global digital currency.
But One of the set back for Bitcoin adoption is the lack of proper awareness about Bitcoin and the stereotyped opinion of most newbies in Bitcoin that make Bitcoin look like a get-rich-quick scheme, this assumption about Bitcoin has made many frustrated when their investment/holdings in bitcoin go down during a bear market. So there is a need for enlightenment on the key features and purpose of bitcoin adoption.
I have tried my best to educate people around me on the basic concept of Bitcoin and make them aware of the advantages and disadvantages of Bitcoin adoption and how best to minimize the risk associated with Bitcoin, to attain some level of self-satisfaction through Bitcoin.
I disagree that awareness is the Issue. Are you saying that the government that is giving Bitcoin a hard time like China is not aware? and same goes for the rest of the country where the Government is doing the same thing to Bitcoin. The newbies have less to contribute to the general adoption of Bitcoin globally, they are mot even in the system yet and how far has your people's education come through? The fact is, these people that matter "Government" are fully aware of what Bitcoin is that's why they take the stand they took with Bitcoin. In terms of Bitcoin being Volatile, I can guarantee you that the day Bitcoin turns into a stablecoin, its less adoption. Volatility turned out to be one of the major positive xtics of Bitcoin, what do you think is the main differentiating factor when investors start comparing Bitcoin Vs Gold Investment?
People might continue to have the notion of getting rich quickly with bitcoin which shouldn't be, but still could happen.
300  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: P2p is the original Satoshi strategy for Bitcoin exchange on: July 23, 2022, 09:13:26 AM
Not your keys not your Bitcoin, and you don't have Bitcoin if your Bitcoins are on exchange wallets.
If you read through the Bitcoin white paper you will discover that Satoshi's statement on Bitcoin exchange is by p2p and did not mention anything like centralized exchanges, this is because Satoshi Nakamoto know the importance of holding your Bitcoin in your wallet, and not on the exchange, this is so because the Bitcoin on exchange is like your money in your bank account which involves third party involvement, as you all know Bitcoin original idea is to eliminate third party involvement in our financial dealing.
So for highly secure and privacy-consciousness use only p2p to exchange Bitcoin and hold your Bitcoin in your wallets.
True that but there will certainly be evolution with everything hence what we are witnessing within the Cryptocurrency ecosystem. Investors and traders Know this, "Not your keys Not your Coins" but we will do it anyway because it is almost impossible now for you not to go through an exchange even if it was just DEX and if there were no exchanges, DEX included, how would you know how is willing to buy what you have? and how trustworthy is that person? People just need to be careful with it regardless. CEX has proven to be a good part of the ecosystem but it is your choice to leave your Bitcoin in an exchange wallet if you wish to take that risk.
