2941  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: List of members of BitcoinTalk sentenced in a court of law concerning Bitcoin. on: May 31, 2015, 10:35:56 AM
Really sad to see this thread... There are still quite a bit of people who use Bitcoin to do wrong, and many more that are unlucky and mistreated and misjudged by justice and courts, simply because someone wants a cut of their services and/or profit...
2942  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To fill Gavincoin blocks up to the max of 20MB is relatively cheap on: May 31, 2015, 10:30:49 AM
I'm not sure I understand the first post, how would filling the 20mb blocks make it different from filling the 1mb blocks?
2943  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core or XT? POLL on: May 31, 2015, 10:28:11 AM
Obviously voting XT, as they are the ones interested in forking for bigger blocks. Will change my vote to Core if they announce bigger blocks too.
2944  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Looking for evidence to support theory of Gavin successor to Satoshi on: May 31, 2015, 10:26:37 AM
Satoshi will never have anyone succeeding him. Any core dev was never supposed to succeed him, just help him review code and publish it... And that's what they still do, they just do it without Satoshi now
2945  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Maybe it is a good advice not to store your BTC at OKCoin... on: May 31, 2015, 10:23:58 AM
Don't leave anything anywhere you can't fully control what leaves from that place. That's the way to go...
2946  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could members of the core development team become a threat to bitcoin? on: May 31, 2015, 10:22:06 AM
As it is obvious, they can be a threat to Bitcoin, but up only until a certain point. They could in theory push bad code... Although it would be detected before it hit a major release, I think. But we have very good and valid reasons to believe they will never botch Bitcoin code.

As for forking, well, we shouldn't be afraid of forking. Forking means Bitcoin is changing, and change can be good. We, as users, miners, merchants, etc just have to vote on which fork we want to be in, by running the matching client... Bitcoin and the blockchain make it all easy Smiley
2947  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gavin Threatens to Quit Bitcoin Development and Join Hearn's Fork on: May 30, 2015, 01:37:09 PM
I think this is a good move. People had their heads underneath the sand for too much time and some are now realising that the limit needs to be raised, as we are very quickly approaching the limit for our blocks.

This move puts miners and users on the "voting seats"... We will now choose what we want: big or small blocks. Let's see who wins Wink
2948  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Using bitcoin adddress as email on: May 27, 2015, 07:50:04 PM
I can't really see why this is an advantage. It's another incentive to address reuse, and it makes an email huge as hell and non-memorizeable...
2949  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: KnCMiner Nominated as Best Cryptocurrency Startup in Europe on: May 26, 2015, 08:55:23 PM
Obviously they aren't winning this, but how on earth is it possible that they're nominated? I can't even conceive how it's possible for someone to put a company with KnC's track record on the road for a "Best Crypto Startup" prize...

Isn't there any scam prize?
2950  Other / Meta / Re: It's nice to see the forum is back up. on: May 25, 2015, 02:35:49 PM
Looks like we are up, finally Smiley Everyone, update your passwords!
2951  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help me restore my wallet.dat on: May 21, 2015, 08:07:00 PM
Private keys can be dumped via Bitcoin Core without syncing, and also via pywallet. Remember to do it in an offline computer Smiley
2952  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Darkwallet and Armory Come Top in Bitcoin Wallet Privacy Study on: May 21, 2015, 07:45:34 PM
This seems like a nice study with pretty conclusive results. I've used most wallet they analysed and I agree with their results.

I also didn't know OBPP. About time we have such an organisation. Let's just hope they don't crash and burn... Cheesy
2953  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-05-14] BIT-X Bitcoin Debit Card | Press Release on: May 21, 2015, 03:59:56 PM
This is quite good news Smiley Cool to see this launching officially. It's a very handy product Smiley
2954  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptosteel: The Ultimate Cold Wallet Private Key Storage System on: May 21, 2015, 02:39:54 PM
ou guys seem to be having some traction with your crowdfunding... But why not put your crowdfund on Lighthouse? Smiley
2955  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Free Script] Untitled Dice - Run your own bitcoin dice site (no server needed) on: May 20, 2015, 11:42:55 AM
Since the funds don't seem to be separated, depositing/gambling/withdrawing there or in any other spinoff of this site is exactly the same as playing on MoneyPot?

Users have their own balance for your site, it's completely separated from their normal moneypot balances and their balances at other "powered by moneypot.com" sites

OP says one does not need to add funds... What if a user wins big time? How will he be getting paid?
2956  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Using old Bitcoin Core V 0.7 wallet on: May 20, 2015, 11:37:47 AM
Hello,

I have an old wallet file backup of Bitcoin client. I believe it was Bitcoin Core V 0.7.
What is the recommended/best way to restore the private key in order to:
1) View my balance
2) Use the those bitcoins

Thank you

Just add it to a Bitcoin Core install, or dump the keys via pywallet Smiley
2957  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How long do you use bitcoin? on: May 19, 2015, 08:45:25 PM
I've been interested in it for 2/2,5 years, and using it for more or less 1,5 years. I'm planning on staying for the long run.

I will get my first coins tomorrow.  I am pretty excited about it.  My wife thinks I am a big nerd.
I wish I had a counter argument for you to use.  Embarrassed
If you come up with one let me know, my wife thinks the same.

I want some arguments too Grin The difference is, in my case, everyone around me thinks I'm a nerd, haha Cheesy
2958  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin-Pizza-Day is near! 22. May! on: May 19, 2015, 08:42:34 PM
Waiting for a pizza restaurant near me that accepts Bitcoin. I think we've already been further away from that happening Smiley
2959  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Hi, Lo (High Low Dice) Calculator on: May 18, 2015, 02:35:26 PM
No link for the source code? I'd like to run this on Ubuntu Smiley
