Osaka v Pliskova - Osaka was just beaten in 2 sets with 2 tie breaks - close! I expect Osaka
to be stronger on her next tournament outing, I believe she is getting stronger and stronger.

Pliskova meets top seed Swiatek next, TBH I wouldnt know what way this is going to go.
Swiatek can lose matches she is expected to win.

Over at Rotterdam, Sinner beat Monfils in 3 sets and Rune got beaten by Shevchenko.
In a very entertaining 3 set and 3 tie breaks Griekspoor beat Hurkacz and plays
Ruusuvuori next in the quarter finals. The odds on this are 1.65 v 2.25 to the Dutchman,
he might be worth a bet to go to the semis.
322  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Bitcoin Drop to Zero? on: February 15, 2024, 01:04:23 PM
Former deputy governor, BOE believes Bitcoin can drop to zero. I wonder what his opinion is at the moment.

"Their price can vary quite considerably and they could theoretically or practically drop to zero." Jon Cunliffe saiid.

And what's the different between theoritical and practical drop to zero for BTC?

Can the price theoritically drop to zero but practically trade above $40k. Kinda confusing.

So what I'm reading here is an answer to a question which was about "Crypto Currencies" in general.
Look at the language he uses in his answer "Their price can vary quite considerably and they could theoretically or practically drop to zero."
not "Its price can vary quite considerably and it could theoretically or practically drop to zero."

Ok lets answer the OP's question with my opinion

Theoritically Bitcoins price can drop to zero if the internet is switched off for example, why
would the interned globally be turned off?

Practically if Bitcoins price were to suddenly drop to lets say $5000, what will happen? at
least everyone in this community will buy as much as they can.

So theoretically YES
Practically NO
323  Economy / Speculation / Re: WILL BITCOIN CONTINUE TO RISE on: February 15, 2024, 12:51:46 PM
This is a tweet reposted by PLANB on X, very interesting outlook on the market primarily
because its extremely bullish!

HIs points that he expects the market price to grow approximately $1000 per day for the next
few weeks is interesting and will be very good news for the community here and for day traders.

His second event which he points out is that most ETF traders CAN ONLY start trading 90 days after
launch is very enlightening and sets the stage for big pressure on the halved supply when those
90 days are up.

Plenty of points answering the thread title that yes the markets will "continue to rise"

I don't know guys if you have seen Sinner's match yesterday... but his performance was pretty nice as usual in the last period.
he had already won this year against the Dutch player.
I wan't expecting any big surprises. apart from a few aces there was practically never a match between the players...

the odds of 1.10 are low but interesting since Sinner was capable of winning a match without any problem...

I was looking forward to that match, his performance was brilliant and he does seem to have carried
his top performance from AO.

van de Zandschulp has been struggling for the last 12 months or more so Sinner's next outing against
Monfils will be a bigger test. Rune and Rublev are still in the mix too so they could pose a big threat
to Sinner taking the title but personally I think its looking very good for him.

Yea its great to see her back winning. It was only a matter of time before she got to
this stage, she has the skills and mental strength back IMO.

Thats interesting about Japan, they dont actually have that many high profile international
sports people. Previously Osaka had felt the pressure of all the attention, that in itself
can be hard to manage for young rising sporters.

So its the Ukrainian Tsurenko who she plays next, could be a tough one but hopefully she
comes through to the quarter finals.
Tsurenko gave a walkover to Osaka, so. Easily through to the next round. A couple of interesting matches coming up in WTA Doha. Swiatek takes on Alexandrova and Azarenka will face Ostapenko. In ATP, Monfils beats Shapovalov 2-0 and Raonic puts an end to in-form Bublik in straight sets.

Getting a walkover doesnt help any player IMO other than energy conservation, they want to be playing
matches and building momentum, its good to see her through to the next round, she plays Pliskova next.

Bublik losing was not what I had bet on!, well done to Raonic, he seems to be building his performance.
325  Economy / Speculation / Re: WILL BITCOIN CONTINUE TO RISE on: February 15, 2024, 01:45:03 AM
based on Bitcoins 4 year cycle and tha Halving marking the end of one cycle and beginning
of another history has told us that this current Bull run will last another 10 to 12 months.

Within this part of the cycle we could have a general increase in price with many corrections
along the way to a new ATH.

This is all based on what has happened in the last 3 post halving events but these are different
times we are in now so anything can happen.

Maybe the rise will be shorter, maybe longer, maybe changing the whole 4 year cycle scenario.
326  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the Bitcoin bull market? on: February 14, 2024, 06:05:28 PM
There are two references which are made to the markets, both the Bitcoin market and other
traditional markets, BULL market and BEAR market.

The general consensus is that a BULL market is a positive outlook and the market prices move
upwards, this can coincide with external or related events, in this case the upcoming Bitcoin
Halving event. There is an air of positivity so the markets move up, the Bulls are aggressive
and are buying.

In contrast to the BULL market is the BEAR market. What do bears do in winter? Hibernate,
which means little or no activity. In terms of the markets they either stagnate or fall back.
327  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union / League / Super / Sixes Sevens Pro14 / Cups & Tours / Olympics on: February 14, 2024, 01:56:25 PM
So as expected in the Six Nations on Sunday Ireland beat Italy 36-0. There were moments
of brilliance and also moments of error riddled play but for Ireland with a lot of first choice
players resting they held an improving Italian side scoreless. Impressive enough.

No six nations this weekend coming but club Rugby starts up again with the URC on Friday

Scarlets play Munster - No odds yet but I would back Munster eventhough they have
not been up to their usual standard this season in the URC.

Zebre v Edinburgh - No odds yet - Edinburgh should be winning this one.
328  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: February 14, 2024, 07:30:24 AM
Osaka is on the rise again after her mental/emotional breakdown and later turning into motherhood which led to a year of absence from the game. Tonight she made an incredible comeback from being 0-4 down in the 2nd set tiebreaker and later down 6-3 to win the set 7-6(11-9). She saved 4 set points on the way to winning the 2nd set. She might be coming back into form sooner rather than later and might win a title by the end of the year. If she manages to stay fit throughout the season.

Oh cool, I love her game and her overall attitude, so humble.
For some reason I thought she retired for good after her mental problems and especially because she also got a child last year.
Didn't expect her to come back for another try, hopefully she can stay healthy, physically as well as mentally especially!

I once saw her at a sponsor event in Tokyo, there is so much hype around her, it's crazy. Japan doesn't have a lot of international sports stars so the few they have get a lot of attention!

Yea its great to see her back winning. It was only a matter of time before she got to
this stage, she has the skills and mental strength back IMO.

Thats interesting about Japan, they dont actually have that many high profile international
sports people. Previously Osaka had felt the pressure of all the attention, that in itself

329  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC TOUCHED $50K TODAY. BULL RUN IS HERE? on: February 13, 2024, 05:42:08 PM
You know you're in a bull run when someone makes a thread about bitcoin touching a price and a few hours later the price is above that level.

What can I say, we've been in a bull run since January.
There are diferent metrics people use, but usually the most important ones are:
-price reaching consistent higher lows
-staying above 200 WMA
-being above 50% of ATH. For me it's the final confirmation, as usually we don't do that until the beginning of a new bull cycle.

We popped over the $50k mark which I thought wasnt going to happen, there has been a bit of
a sell of and we are at ~$48k now, I thought we would get the drop before the $50k.
I recon we will see a bit more of the drop but it doesnt mean the bull run is over, this is just a
correction before another pump up which will convince the very few doubters left that yes we are
most definitely in a bull run.

These drops will hit higher lows for sure going forward and could remain consistant for a number
of months. There might also be a bit of a buying surge each time it happens because of FOMO, and
not to miss the next pump. ah shure I might buy a little extra this week myself!

As regards the ATH, yes above 50% of it is massive, we touched of 72% of it yesterday so its
definitely a massive signal.
330  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: February 13, 2024, 05:17:04 PM
Lots of spectacular matches await us today in Doha!
Kostyuk v Pavlyuchenkova  This is going to be very intense, as any other Russo-Ukrainian encounter lately. Pavlyuchenkova has already eliminated a top 20 player in R1 (Kasatkina)
Noskova v Sakkari  Noskova is on the rise, winning Swiatek this year and reaching some later stages at several tournaments. Sakkari is not in her best shape now. Frankly, I see Noskova winning this one.
Collins v Bouzkova  What is so exciting about this match? Collins has been playing really great lately, she is back in business after terrible performance last year. Bouzkova defeated another American player Kenin in R1 and she proved to be a dangerous opponent.
Martic v Osaka  Osaka is always fun to watch. Naomi has already proved she can play at the top level by eliminating Garcia in R1.
Badosa v Fernandez  Both players are not in their top form but it's an interesting encounter nevertheless: who will be able to win against all odds?
Potapova v Pliskova  Pliskova is getting back on track after poor performance last season. She has won a title last week in Cluj-Napoca.

This is going to be fun!  Cool

In recent times, the competition has increased in women's tennis. And it also looks like the quality has also improved.

Kostyuk v Pavlyuchenkova is definitely going to be very interesting and I also believe that this match going to be competitive. I am not sure which player is going to win this match, to be honest. Both of them do look to be good competitors against each other.

Osaka might actually win the next match. She did pretty well against Garcia. And I think that alone is going to give her the confidence to actually win the next match. Of course, the match is not going to be easy. But I believe she has what it takes to win.

Pliskova should be able to win the match against Potapova. Not much strong reason for that to be honest. I personally just support Pliskova in this match.

Osaka hasnt been very lucky with her draws since coming back playing this year but she seems
to be getting stronger, beating Garcia was a big step, she will be very confident now and should
beat Martic today. That has started and Osaka is 1.30 with the first game won, i'll keep an eye on
this and if the odds improve I might do a small bet.

Earlier in Roterdam Bublik in the end bear Coric in 2 sets 3-6, 4-6. He will be delighted wit that and
could go a long way in this tournament, he faces Raonic next, no odds on that one yet! but I might
back Bublik if the odds are any way decent.

There has been some really good match ups so early in both tournaments
331  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: February 12, 2024, 09:46:46 PM

Rotterdam Open, Jannik Sinner will return to play after a few weeks of rest and he is the top seed in this tournament, and if he is still at his best when he wins the Australian Open then it will be difficult for other players to stop him from becoming champion in this tournament and continuing winning streak, especially Daniil Medvedev as the defending champion will not play.

Yes, just watched Griekspoor v Musetti at the Rotterdam Open. Griekspoor winning
in 3 sets eventhough he had 41 unforced errors compared to 14 for Musetti!

Looking forward to Sinner getting back playing. He plays home boy van de Zandschulp
which is a repeat of round 1 at AO! Sinner should win this, hopefully he is ready to rock.

Also Coric plays Bublik tomorrow - thats an interesting one, very close odds 1.92 v 1.88
...understandably ! you couldnt make it up how these have been drawn against each other,
hopefully Bublik can repeat the final result from Marseille last week?
332  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC TOUCHED $50K TODAY. BULL RUN IS HERE? on: February 12, 2024, 06:18:45 PM

and we are only 2 months approximately from the halving!

yea, everyone has a slightly different recognition of when the Bull Run starts.

for me closing in on the halving it starts 6 months beforehand and gradually gains
momentum as we approach the halving, so by my Reckoning the OP is about 4 months
late with calling the Bull Run.

Heres another one to throw out there....
When there is a big sell off at ~$49,500 there will be people questioning this Bull Run!
333  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: February 12, 2024, 10:00:13 AM
I can’t think of a way to distribute 100 sats a day to a bunch of people without spending hundreds of dollars per week on transaction fees, otherwise I’d be happy to do it.

I’m at 740 push ups now. I feel like as the weekend arrives I may have more difficulty remembering to do my push-ups, but I’m going to try.

$48K!!!
Just write it down or type it on your notes or something, that's how I do it with my workouts back then (Oh how I miss to work out), that way you can keep track easily if you're doing it correctly. Did you start this without having any progression and just going 100 from the start? That's going to be a difficult thing to do, I hope that you're doing the 100 push-ups in a split routine and not just in one go because you're in for a surprise at how difficult it is, I'd probably do this too but not because I want to do it for bitcoin, I just miss working out and this might be the sign to do it.
100 directly from the start is hard and i have tested out and i did have a muscle spasms on the next day on which i wasnt been able to do the other 100's on other day until the pain subsided.
This is why it would really be ideal that you should really be that starting from small and would really be trying to catch up on what you have missed. Is it necessary to be 100 pushup?
Just thinking it up then i have imagine myself on getting bald.  Cheesy  Well, we arent that too far off on $100k price though on which we might be keeping on push up on the next 10-15 months i guess.
So the main question on what we would do if ever Bitcoin hits 100k? Whats next?

For now im playing around on 50 push ups per day and tending to increase day by day +5 push ups until i would hit up that 100.
Its hard but its not impossible i should say.

Ah you cant start off doing 100 push up on the first day, I find that to be an impossible task,
it has to be built up and you have to take a rest a few times per week, thats good practice.

I actually started introducing push up into my excersize routine at the weekend but could
only manage 15! I wont be doing them every day because there has to be rest days but the
$100k Bitcoin price is a great target and motivator to aim for in relation to push ups
although it does seem a bit daunting! - the push up's that is!
334  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [LIVE] 🌍🌎🌏 Community group participation - Bitcoin Colouring Book - CLOSED on: February 12, 2024, 08:47:50 AM
sorry for the delay but with the holidays and our trips we were very busy and work has been very busy. I was and still am very busy so I let my grandson do the coloring (known here on forums as "The_Crypto_Kid" Will be handing off to minerjones tomorrow.

Confirming that Mopar handed off the coloring book to me today during our weekly meetup Cheesy

I must say that after looking at some of the pages that have been completed, I feel that my art skills are noob-level status at best Tongue

Can't wait for everyone to see the end product and all the work that has gone into it.... some of the pages are amazing!!! Smiley

wow - TBH I had totally forgotten about this project I have a lot on my plate ATM

I have had a sneak preview of some of the pages as some "artists" have shared their
page with me but I'm sure the physical thing will be outstanding.

MJ - just a tip, but you could photocopy your page and do a trial run on that so you
can see if you are happy with what you plan to do, anyway - I'm sure it will be fine.

Remember the poster project? some were apprehensive about doing their page and
it turned out really well.

As to "what do we do when its finished?
I say we raffle it among the artists - can I include myself in it?
and whoever wins it can do with it what they like.
335  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Spot ETFs hit $10 Billion milestone just one month after approval on: February 11, 2024, 09:54:42 PM
technically all ETF always had over 190,000btc

grayscale had >640,000 from day one
only difference is that now OTHER ETF have 190k+ total and grayscale scale is down to 466,534

in short.. all etf have not accumulated that many new coins that were not already locked up for years via potential ETF

Do you recon that was money which was vouched from day 1 of the ETF applications
and as soon as they went live the monies were released into the ETF's?

From here on it should be new purchases, just in time for post halving.

Now ask yourself how many coins will these people sell during the bull run. They are professional investors, unlike Bitcoin hodlers who set unrealistic price goals, these people will not miss out on an opportunity to take good profits. So don't listen to Cathie Wood or Michael Saylor when they predict where the next ATH will be, because they will sell way below that and crash the market.

I would say that there are a mixed lot, like ourselves here on the forum, some will sell
and take profits to buy back at a later stage, others will HODL with a long term view
and others might do a mix of both, sell some and HODL some.

Thats maybe not how it works at all.

And Rybakina indeed won that final, and quite easily too, 6-1, 6-4. She isnt 5th in the WTA
world rankings for nothing!

Over at Marseille in todays final my hunch about Humbert actually became a reality, unfortunately
I didnt back up my hunch with a bet. Humbert won in two somewhat easy sets, 6-4, 6-3. Dimitrov
to be fair to him looked tired after his 3 setter yesterday.

Humbert also has won every final he was in, 5 from 5, if he keeps going and can perform well
outside France he could be a top10 player.
337  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union / League / Super / Sixes Sevens Pro14 / Cups & Tours / Olympics on: February 11, 2024, 10:04:41 AM
Union Rucks

I know what you mean about the flow of play slowing down at ruck time but every attacking
team wants "quick ball" from the ruck to keep the play moving quickly but every defending
team wants to steal the ball either by counter rucking or stealing the ball as its being
presented by the player who has gone to ground and often teams will deliberately try to
slow the game at ruck time.

The Scotland v France match was a great one, Scotland were close again this week to
causing an upset but in the 3rd quarter France were able to capitalise on their strength
and Scotlands flagging defense

England v Wales - Its a pity Wales were not at home, they were close again this week, I felt they
ran out of steam with all the defending they had to do.

Ireland v Italy next.

They were both 3 set semi finals. Haddad Maia put up a fair fight against Kasatkina but
failed to pull through. So its a Rybakina v Kasatkina final, I fancy the top seed Rybakina @ 1.29.

Over in Marseille its a Humbert v Dimitrov final!

My guess on Humbert beating Hurkacz came true, he got the job done in 2 sets 4-6, 4-6.
Dimitrov had a tough battle against Khachanov over 3 sets with 2 tie breaks.

Dimitrov is still favourite but I have a thinking Humbert could pull off a surprise victory!
339  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union / League / Super / Sixes Sevens Pro14 / Cups & Tours / Olympics on: February 10, 2024, 01:35:58 PM
Interesting, I'll watch that later, I have to admit that partly following the NRL for 3 years
now I dont know ALL the rules so I'll learn something for sure.

Cant believe the NRL is starting up in about a month, and the pre season starting next week.

The first of the pre season challenge is the Bulldogs v Storm next Thursday. Is there
pre season friendlies before that?

Cant seem to bet on the challenge matches.
340  Other / Meta / Re: BCT vs BTT abbreviation for this forum on: February 09, 2024, 11:25:34 AM
BCT = BitCoinTalk
BTT = BiTcoinTalk

It's pretty obvious that the first one makes a lot more sense, right?

Another 'correct' one would be BTCT = BitcoinTalk = BTCTalk; but a 4-letter abbreviation doesn't sound/look as good.

My thinking 100%

I have only recently seen people refer to the forum abbreviation as BTT

I dont know any other abbreviation where the first and last letter of the first word is used,
an abbreviation is almost always the first letter of each word.

SO while B and C are not exactly correct because we use Bitcoin as a single word but technically
there are 3 words in the forum name

Bit - as in cryptography [SHA-256 bit encryption]
Coin - In relation to a currency or something transferrable from one person to another
Talk - talk and discussion around Bitcoin

I'm not very technical but its prtetty obvious why the abbreviation is BCT

otherwise BTT should actually be replaced with BT CN TK
