3221  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you think will happen to BTC prices on: January 30, 2012, 04:35:03 PM
Why would their acceptance of BTC influence prices? It would be just us Bitcoiners who have an interest in depositing via BTC there, and we already have Bitcoins.

Also, it makes no sense to me anyway if they just get converted to fiat like you stated. It could actually be bearish because Bitcoins which were formerly held would now be sent to a poker site which just sells them for fiat.
This makes no sense, if you can also withdraw money in bitcoins it's not a loss to the economy.
He said "deposit method", so that’s what I interpreted.

Feel free to hype on, though. Grin

Edit:  All bets are off short term though, I'm not trading in this volatility, I'm just sitting it out and waiting.
I wonder sitting it out in BTC or USD?

Neutral/Nothing.

3224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Convince me that the bitcoin elite cannot become the next Rothschild family on: January 30, 2012, 01:38:45 PM
Never heard of Bitcoin back then, same as 99% of the population. Wink Bitcoin was announced on a cryptography mailing list.

The guys who started the whole thing? No, you didn’t get the mining rewards for starting it or programming anything, you got it for being there and leaving your computer on like many do for free for projects like folding@home.

Also, I just suggested what I think would have been a better distribution method/curve and therefore answered your question. Tongue

One more thing …

Personnally I have no problem with the fact that the guys who started the whole thing may have profited from their invention a bit more than the followers.
A bit more? knightmb is known to own (or have owned) 375k BTC. Satoshi himself likely has a multiple of that. I don’t think giving them such a large percentage of the whole supply is just "a bit more".
3225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Convince me that the bitcoin elite cannot become the next Rothschild family on: January 30, 2012, 12:59:14 PM
I'm still waiting to hear of a better method of initial cryptocurrency distribution. OP?

Sigmoid curve. Natural resource depletion.

Difficulty was 1 for over a year. Yet the BTC output was as high as it is now. Distribution sucks because of that.
3226  Economy / Speculation / Re: are we under attack? on: January 30, 2012, 12:55:44 PM
You will be disappointed if you are looking an easy simple reason for why it's happening.
Shut it, Bear.

There is a simple reason. It’s The Manipulator.
3227  Economy / Speculation / Re: RALLY! on: January 30, 2012, 12:34:36 PM
On Bitcoinica, you can even buy Bitcoins using Bitcoins as margin. So you can be a bull while you are a bull.

So leverage up! TIME TO BUY BUY BUY!

WE’RE NOT GOING TO THE MOON.

WE’RE GOING TO MARS!
3228  Economy / Speculation / Re: RALLY! on: January 30, 2012, 12:33:58 PM
WALL AT $6 DIMINISHING!!! $7 HERE WE COME?
How about you stop talking and instead buy up fully leveraged?
3229  Economy / Speculation / Re: KNIFE IMMINENT on: January 30, 2012, 11:53:48 AM
Bitcoinica showed the * on the buy side (no, not on the sell side as well) today when it was ~5.6.
3230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hiding your assets from the government via BTC on: January 30, 2012, 10:06:03 AM
Better to retain only 4% (maximum from 32 to 2, and that happened over a period of half a year, not suddenly) than 0% because all is seized, IMO.
3231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Hiding your assets from the government via BTC on: January 30, 2012, 05:46:20 AM
Do you think Kim Dotcom could have used Bitcoins to do so, instead of having everything seized? If I think about it, it makes lots of sense for rich people to diversify a certain percentage into BTC.
3232  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Truth behind BIP 16 and 17 (important read) on: January 30, 2012, 02:26:17 AM
I’m with gmaxwell and BlueMatt. Why turn this technical stuff into a FUD political power struggle debate? It’s not like everyone had an opinion on how encryption should have been done, too. People don’t have to have an opinion on this, it’s up to the developers to achieve consensus.

I’m also with Gavin and Steve. Two-factor Authentication is extremely important for safely using Bitcoin without having the hassle of paper wallets and extra offline computers! Noone except us enthusiasts would go for such lengths, and that could be a reason we are stagnating in terms of users and acceptance.

I don’t understand why this debate exists.
3233  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bear Trap or Bull Trap? on: January 29, 2012, 06:43:28 PM
Haha, Bitcoiners.

3234  Economy / Speculation / Bear Trap or Bull Trap? on: January 29, 2012, 06:41:14 PM
Sentiment poll. Smiley
3235  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis & other financial markets (bitcoinbullbear.com) on: January 29, 2012, 01:46:47 PM
proudhon: the update was actually quite bullish.

I thought it was very neutral. I read it as if it goes down, it might go down more, and if it goes up, it might go up more... But as almost always the bullish side was stressed.
So the analysis acts as an amplifier for either direction.

Maybe someone is using it as a contrarian indicator? Grin
3237  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bearish and bullish threads on this page - new indicator on: January 28, 2012, 09:54:58 AM
Yep, still room up. Bitcoinica is confirming by not showing a *.
3238  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bearish and bullish threads on this page - new indicator on: January 28, 2012, 09:29:50 AM

3239  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bearish and bullish threads on this page - new indicator on: January 28, 2012, 08:12:27 AM
Care to list what you think of as bearish ones?
3240  Economy / Speculation / Re: the MaNiPuLaToR on: January 27, 2012, 06:41:11 PM
That’s not true, many here post and analyze charts.

Perhaps I should contribute something too, as I just recently set up my SierraChart again: http://www.sierrachart.com/userimages/upload_2/1327689495742.png

Should’ve put a bit of money on the upper trendline for the short-term bounce.
