Pirate has already announced his default, you can take that off the top of the list. And if you ask me, Matthew isn't going to pay a single bitcent tomorrow.

I don't know about any other relevant (big enough) bets.
2542  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why I trust Patrick Harnett on: September 08, 2012, 01:59:35 PM
Okay, it seems you are not sarcastic.

But, being credit worthy it makes no sense for me to borrow BTC if I am long BTC at any interest rate above what I can get on the open fiat market.
I feel that's where the reasoning is wrong because BTC loans may be quicker/easier to attain and you may explicitely need Bitcoins, not fiat. Converting fiat to Bitcoin is another risk/hurdle/time consumer in the chain. Basically, 1000 Bitcoins right now can be much more valuable to me than 11000 USD in a couple days at best. There are some opportunities that are profitable enough to warrant the need, and they don't have to be shorting. For instance, there was a nice profit to be had if you bought GIGAMINING for 1 BTC per.

As for what you can do with coins apart from lending them out or investing in some "shares" or "bonds" to generate a BTC profit, you can always speculate on the exchange rate, simply selling and buying or leveraging/hedging your long position via shorts/leverage or options.
2543  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why I trust Patrick Harnett on: September 08, 2012, 12:46:50 PM
Obviously, the only rational course of action is to borrow USD and buy Bitcoins. Or leverage up on Bitcoinica. Grin

Burt, I hope you are being sarcastic here and he really didn't change your mind. There are plenty of good opportunities to gain more BTC in my view.

I suggest you visit and take a look at my Atlas collection: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=78149.0

Yes, this is Atlas.

I do keep an eye on your thread. It was what started to freak me out and made me start thinking that there must be an alternative explanation. That one person would be responsible for all Atlaslike annoyances of the forum started to make Atlas sound vaguely satanic.
Yes, I am certain all of these aliases are a person called Emanuel Ortego who lives in Texas whose face and voice we also know (public info on his part).

Posted here since I don't want to derail a legitimate thread.

I decided to add two of his old accounts, Jon and Atlas. There used to be an old, original account with the nick Atlas, but unfortunately it was deleted.

If I am missing any Atlases, please report so I can add them.
2547  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is it moral to bet money you don't have? on: September 08, 2012, 11:40:34 AM
Dude, you're wasting your time. This is Atlas.

Do you think it's the Atlas? I think you're giving Atlas strange and terrible powers. He couldn't have the staying power to produce such a constant stream of niggling. Unless you're using "Atlas" as a verb?

Instead I think it's just someone with Atlaslike Personality Disorder. It would also explain the sheer volume of APD posts since there seems to be many forum members with the same disorder - although strangely it appears there is usually only one of them active at a time.

I suggest you visit and take a look at my Atlas collection: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=78149.0

Yes, this is Atlas.

On the topic, no, I don't think it is moral to bet money you don't have, unless you can liquidate some of your assets to get the money in case you lose.

Congratulations, Atlas.

Also: http://www.trendonshavers.com/ I think bitlane registered that.

To hell with that, it's spam. If they want ads, they should go bid for an ad slot on this forum.
2553  Economy / Speculation / Re: The 'all or nothing' fallacy on: August 29, 2012, 09:02:27 PM
Well, Bitcoin has been around for a fairly long time now considering how revolutionary it is, but as far as I know, Silk Road is still the biggest purely non-financial Bitcoin business. I expected things like coinworker or ogrr to sprout, but it seems they went under.

I'm more skeptical now on "killer apps" enabled by Bitcoin than I used to be, as I've beeen watching out for them ever since the Silk Road was created in Feb 2011 and not much has really happened since then.
2554  Other / Meta / Re: "Important announcements" section doesn't contain important announcements on: August 23, 2012, 01:28:48 PM
I'm with Maged, it's not like noone gives a fuck. Stuff like that is concerning lots of people in the Bitcoin community, both directly and indirectly because of how large it is.
2555  Other / Meta / Re: Proposed removal of Matthew N Wright from forum staff. on: August 23, 2012, 01:25:12 PM
You're not proving anything with this crap other than that you're a douche bag.

+1, I thought it was just the old trolling Matthew is back, but this is like a whole new level. Wtf is going on with you?
I agree, the constant spamming of the bet to any remotely related thread is an annoyance to me.
2556  Economy / Speculation / Re: If pirate sold the majority of the coins into the market... on: August 21, 2012, 08:33:28 PM
We have enough pirate threads by now, don't you think?
2557  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: August 20, 2012, 07:32:36 PM
Still waiting for an update on percentages... Smiley
Me too, cypherdoc tends to become quite humble and quiet once the price doesn't go his way. Grin
2558  Other / Off-topic / Re: Hunting Atlas on: August 20, 2012, 05:26:48 PM
The list is getting rather long.

What a miserable guy he is. Sad
2559  Economy / Speculation / Re: WE HIT $15.00!!!! on: August 17, 2012, 05:16:00 PM
I don't think we need a new thread every time the price rises a dollar.
2560  Other / Meta / Re: kentrolla's "lol broken bot" thread deleted? on: August 17, 2012, 04:02:50 PM
Blitz deleted it. It may have been too insubstantial for Speculation.

And there I was thinking there was nothing too insubstantial for Speculation.   Tongue
Grin

Since the thread contained only "lol" as message and "lol broken bot" in the title, I considered it spam. I'm not sure moving things like that to Off-Topic is good, as that would basically make it a trash forum.

Though maybe we do need a trash forum of some kind where insubstantial things/spam for fun go?
