3221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the most stupid comment you've heard about bitcoin? on: March 03, 2014, 01:12:16 AM
Today from my step brother.   Text message.

Him:   Say it aint so!

Me:  ?

Him:  Bitcoin.

Me:  ?

Him:  Bitcoin having problems?  Friend texted me saying it filed bankruptcy.

-B-

So "Bitcoin" is a person or a company, and they went bankrupt.
Seriously, people are just stupid.

Guys, if you are unhappy with him, you can leave him a negative feedback, which can be found here:

Clarification post for people that don't read the thread.

Why are my rejects rate so high?
The high rejects is because we mine very quick coins, and we switch very quickly. You can check the pool-wide reject rate on your stats page. Compare it to your CGWatcher reject rate, not the one on the site.

When will EU, Asia and the 2nd US server be up?
Once Terk has fixed all backend problems and fought the DDoS attacks we are having. The only ETA is soon.

What is the pool fee?
2% for now.

Why haven't I gotten a payout after a week?
Check that you are using your BTC address as username, and not one like "byt411.miner". Your username should be your BTC address only, nothing else.
If you find out that you used the wrong one, PM Terk and he will fix it once he has time.

Why is there such a high "Unexchanged" balance?
This is because some coins are traded manually.

3228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Dealing with 2 Factor Verification - Foreign Traveler on: March 02, 2014, 04:59:22 PM
They don't have Google Authenticator? Just get a cheap Android phone and put the app on there, if you don't want to use your main phone.

SMS 2 factor is just fussy... The site should Have Google Authenticator, which is an app that generates the code, even without internet.
3229  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Forking Blockchain for lost keys on: March 02, 2014, 03:15:09 PM
I've heard this "bitcoin would die" but I don't understand why? Why would rescuing 7% of the coins be such sacrilege? Given that there are 127000 users that have lost coins.

Because once it happens, it will repeat itself. We cannot fork bitcoin multiple times just to save coins because a lot of people were stupid and stored their coins online. It is their own fault.
3230  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How to send non-standard transaction? on: March 02, 2014, 03:06:51 PM
I want to send non-standard transaction (it is valid, but spends existing in blockchain non-standard utxo)

So, the questions are:
1. What is the IP-address of Eligius pool? Bitcoin wiki says -addnode=192.3.11.20 but this address does not work
2. Are there any other miners which accept non-standard transactions? (No?)
3. Is it possible to disable checks in Bitcoin-Qt for non-standard transactions? I want my own client to accept and relay non-standard txs (like in -testnet mode)
4. If the answer to (3) is "no" - is there a simple tool to send raw non-standard transaction? Windows please.
5. Is there a tool to check which transactions are in peer's memory-pool? E.g. - I send my raw transaction to my peer and after this i check his memory pool for it. If my transaction is there - it means everything goes normal

What the heck is a non-standard transaction? By your spending an existing transaction in the blockchain, that is double spending.
If you want to broadcast a transaction, you can do so here:
http://eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/pushtxn.php
https://blockchain.info/pushtx

Also, the prices are going straight down, since the price there is not worth it.
3232  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mtgox past transactions - an important question on: March 02, 2014, 02:58:50 PM
You have not understood correctly. As long as your coins belong to an address in your current wallet, there's at least one confirmation of the transaction, and you're the only one who has the private keys of the addresses in your wallet, you are okay.

Exactly. And transaction malleability is not the same as double spending.
3233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: March 02, 2014, 01:17:27 PM
oops, profit go down
what's wrong?

Nothing.

Sometimes it goes up too.

I don't see a problem. Waffle did a lot worse than us yesterday.
3234  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Time to strike back against Karpeles - The ultimate plan for all mtgox victims on: March 01, 2014, 06:43:49 PM
I lost 60 btc upon the closure of the mtgox. I didn't lose them because of my poor trading abilities but because of mark karpeles's incompetency.

therefore I am willing to spend another 60 btc worth in dollars, in order for some japanese Yakooza wiseguys to meet him in some dark corner and make him disappear. I think it would be the best investment at this moment for me in order to make sure that other exchanges doesn't follow the path of mtgox and take a better care of my money.

does anyone know some yakooza in japan?

I don't think that will do you any good. You would still have a loss of -60 btc.

"You take a Bitcoin, divide it into 2 pieces and then you have 2 Bitcoins" (Peter Schiff, paraphrased)

LOL! So you should tell him that that is the case with pizzas, but not with bitcoin.

endless pizza  Tongue

Yeah 2 pieces, but smaller pieces lol.

I suppose this is what you are looking for... What's with all that spam?
https://blockchain.info/double-spends
Nope, the one I was looking at before actually allowed you to generate one.

There is a page which you can use to relay transactions using the blockchain node...
https://blockchain.info/pushtx

You could make a fake double-spend and broadcast it, I suppose.

Question is how do we stop naive users from using Paypal?

It appears to me the future of Bitcoin depends on stopping them.

We spit at their face and then we shout at them...
Nah, eventually they will realize.
3240  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Time to strike back against Karpeles - The ultimate plan for all mtgox victims on: February 28, 2014, 04:49:27 PM
We don't have evidence that Mark stole the bitcoins, but we can punish the thieves, whoever they are:

Increase bitcoin money supply from 21 million to 21 billion, that would make all "old" bitcoins almost worthless, and we can start all over again.
You will never get consensus for this. Starting again is effectively an altcoin and nothing stops you from starting another altcoin now, except for network effects.

Exactly. You would have to increase block reward, and the price of bitcoin would shoot down.
