I might note that your second point is already possible, but when that option is exercised the results are thrown away instead of being transmitted the host. Therefore, the third point is the bare minimum to make it compatible, and the first point would be a "nice to have" feature.

I've been running win 7 ultimate on this rig for atleast two years now!!
That's the problem, right there. I know W7 is more reliable and all that, but after 2 years you sure are going to need to blow it away and start again. Take a screenshot of all your installed programs and of your start menu to make the move a bit easier.

Austria, eh? Hmm, sounds like fun.
LOL I've never been, was that a joke?
Not a joke, I was just avoiding saying dammit you lucky fuck, that place is beautiful in so many words. Oops, too late.
3284  Economy / Services / Re: Announcing BitcoinAdvertisers.com THE MONEY MAKING MONSTER! on: April 29, 2012, 10:13:54 PM
The "Ads by BitcoinAdvertisers.com" link still doesn't break out of the frame that it is in.

There is no intention of changing this at this time.
Oh, OK, I just thought you would possibly be wanting people to visit your site when they click the link. But if you wish to clear away the ad and leave a blank white space for them to stare at, that is fine with me too. Anytime I see one, I just click it and poof, no more ads. Quite considerate, actually.

A bunch of us are flying out to Austria next month to see the product in action.

Will keep everyone updated

again I find the airflow design.. disappointing.  Not sure if there is a similar array of fans at the other side, but either way, it looks like  just a copy/paste job while there was opportunity to make something much more efficient by orienting the boards differently and creating windtunnels.

That said, I still want one Smiley
Although I am sure there are ways to improve it, I don't think the current design is insufficient, and should work reasonably well - the side-to-side instead of front-to-rear airflow is also a welcome development. Remember - there is still a "supercomputer" yet to come... I feel that they will pulling out all the stops on that one, making it the ultimate system.

And for what it's worth, due to recent comments by BFL, I believe that as postulated by some, this is indeed a custom run of programmable devices of some kind. A custom device doesn't *have* to be single-purpose, it is just a lot harder to design a reprogrammable device. But it can be done.

If you solicit bitcoins to bring awareness to sodium chlorite as a cure all.

What about Dihydrogen Monoxide? Terrorists!
3289  Economy / Goods / Re: Cold war era spy telephone recorder devise on: April 29, 2012, 11:55:39 AM
Yep, thats the version I own. Works best the closer you can get it to the speaker in the phone. Great for recording prank calls.

Oh wow, I think in many places wiretapping is very illegal. Clearly spies will not care but prank calls?
Depends on the jurisdiction. In many places, it is legal to record the conversation if either one of the parties to it is aware of the recording. Also, this thing is pretty damn obvious when it is attached, it sticks out from the phone handset like a wart.

3291  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT version 0.5 - Easy USB based mining Linux with farm wide management tools on: April 29, 2012, 11:31:23 AM
A quick glance trough this thread did not reveal an answer to me, so I'll ask:

Why are there only 7 gpu instances in bamt.conf ?
Amd drivers support 8, correct ?
I know getting a motherboard to recongnize 8 is impropable, but I'd like to see if I get lucky, if there is no software issue to overcome.

BAMT imposes absolutely no limits.  Any limits you may encounter are a result of the AMD drivers.

The AMD drivers limit us to 7 in the current version.  This is explained time and time again.

Let me be very, very clear:  I don't care if BAMT ever supports 8 GPUs.  I think 8 gpu rigs are silly.  I'm not going to waste any time on it.

If you pay me to do the work to support them, I will.

The end.

Ah, no wonder I was getting odd results testing with 8 GPUs. They all were detected and showed up, but only 6 of them mined and a 7th was flakey, with the eighth not mining at all.

We get the design expertise and timescales of a professional company, with the openness and honesty of just another hobbyist on the forum. I like this very much.
3293  Other / Meta / Re: Unjust scammer tag on: April 29, 2012, 04:01:02 AM
It's been proven that bulanula was overpaid, so he's ethically obligated to return the extra BTC (minus a few percent for the inconvenience, perhaps).

I admit that "scammer" might not be the most accurate term, but creating a new tag would be inconvenient and "scammer" is close enough.

How about a new tag for such people, we could brand them "bulanulas"
wtf is a "bulanula" anyway?

LESSONS LEARNED:
1. There is a psychological barrier to giving up whole coins at a time for most, since many are just getting started and don't have a fat wallet. Sell in smaller denominations and give bulk discounts.
2. Don't make it difficult to buy multiple tickets. What if someone wanted to buy 3 tickets in this raffle? Thay would have to pick them all out individually from the list - lame.
3296  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bounty 20 BTC: Wi-Fi Hotspot, enabled by bitcoin on: April 29, 2012, 01:57:23 AM
how did you get to ssh port tunnel? that is totally unrelated...

It's a solution to the problem.  Rather than run a bitcoind on the hotspot hardware or use an api to do it with an overlay network, simply forward bitcoin ports from the hotspot hardware directly to a full bitcoind that you control.
Yup. SSH can be used for a cheap and secure VPN.
3297  Other / Meta / Re: Chrome malware warning on: April 29, 2012, 01:56:27 AM
I changed it so avatars given as URLs are downloaded, resized, and hosted by the forum. This will only apply to future avatars.
I like this, although I suspect that the people using dynamic avatars from Bitminter et al won't. I wonder if it is possible to "whitelist" those. Also, I doubt the resizer will handle gifs, will it? Not that I care lol.
3298  Other / Off-topic / Re: Could Al-Qaeda use Bitcoin ? on: April 29, 2012, 01:51:59 AM
I've always though about this, and its terrifying because essentially yes, I think terrorists can use Bitcoin (In small amounts) to send money across the world
*gasp* And so can my grandmother! Shit's about to get real, folks.
3299  Other / Off-topic / Re: Question to multi-BFL Single miners: temperature and throttling issues on: April 29, 2012, 01:37:43 AM
I have found that elevating the unit about 1" so the bottom fan can work more efficiently gives me about 5 degrees cooler temps.  Maybe give that a try.
