2821  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [1BTC] New computer BSOD on: May 15, 2012, 12:44:55 AM
New install of windows 7(dont have a cd drive so I had to install windows 7 on my other computer then install the HD into the new computer, Possible source of BSOD?)

What is the other system? I am 99% sure that is your issue right there.

How are the sata ports setup in the bios? AHCI? IDE? RAID?
Nailed it, I'll bet. Try pulling the CD drive out of your other rig just for this install. Moving between different mobos and stuff is a good way to make Windows unstable.

Angry neighborhood bastard mod here:

Enough with the harassment. If they launch, then they launch, THEN you can make fun of their product lineup.

Until then, let them quietly build their 2U rackmountable rigs by themselves. Hint hint.
Put it in the OP? I guess I can wait a while. Smiley

Well, since we're getting all grammar-nazi on each other... FTFY!

That said, poor grammar/punctuation use irks me in a similar manner.  Wink
lol. I had that coming after being so hasty. But it works either way.

All I know is, I prefer my systems to be owned by people that can fix them, not people that have to hire others to fix them. Not only that, but I forsee that there will be more of the same since Intersango et al are suddenly more valuable due to the acquisition of control of Bitcoinica.

Not many businesses work that way.
I guess that is a bit extreme and can't be expected always, but it is the way many Bitcoin related things work. Many current Bitcoin-related businesses have owners that still hack on their codebases. I guess what I meant to say was that I hope the new owner is at least smart enough to turn on a server and bash out a few linux commands.

Not sure why not, but I edited my post accordingly. Unfortunately Mr. B can't edit it out.

Life must be so tough for you grammar nazi supporters...
It is, I like to be able to determine quickly where one thought ends and where another starts. Without proper punctuation, it requires much more time to determine what is being said. Please reference the following sentences:
  • A woman without her man is nothing.
  • A woman: without her, man is nothing.
Now if you read carefully, you will determine that there are two completely different thoughts expressed. However, the only difference between the first and the second is that the second one has some additional punctuation.

Here is another pertinent example:
  • Let's eat Grandpa!
  • Let's eat, Grandpa!
I believe it is obvious where the error is, caused only by the omission of a single comma.

That is why I feel that grammar, punctuation, and spelling are all important.

120W on 1 single? That don't seem right. Huh
My kill-a-watt doesn't lie. Grin
However, I am using the stock power pack, and you are using an efficient PSU, so that could be where the difference went.

Yeah, but 40W difference? Does that include the controller PC / 40W lamp too?
Ah heck, thanks for making me look again. It seems that the power must have gone out, and it reverted back to reading the voltage.  Angry
However, on the old bitstream it was pulling about 80 watts, now on the faster one it is pulling about 90. Stock power brick is the only thing plugged into the kill-a-watt.

Fascinating.  Report confirmed then, for all the naysayers.  :p
Since when does the FBI confirm leaks? Maybe it is a fake leak... dun dun dun

Are there 3 or more generations, consisting of 8 or more people currently living under the same roof where you reside ?

I am homeless Wink
That's rich, living with your GPUs too, eh? And free power because you are employed by the power company? Somehow I still have my doubts lol.

I think you are reading too much into it.  I a guessing AN email account was compromised that allowed for reset password into the server with the wallet.

A simple page really should have been put up for now on bitcoincia.com   There are so many easy ways of doing it, even if it just said, were were hacked, we will respond next week.   Leaving nothing on that page for this long is not fair to the users.
- Later we found out that Patrick's email server was compromised, and since he is in our mailing list, all emails sent to info@bitcoinica.com were delivered to his compromised email account.
Read Zhoutong's last posts for the info.

Or... wait for it... don't order!  Vote with your wallet and go elsewhere!

I have been watching these things from the start waiting for them to get it together on their shipping times and have done just that went elsewhere when if they had stock to ship to me they would have my money right now.
I wanted to read and comprehend what you were saying but the sentence just kept running on and on and on without end until it became at least 3 different thoughts none of which interested me. <-- o look, a period!
2835  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Is it truly economically beneficial to run to FPGAs right now ? on: May 14, 2012, 07:55:11 PM
Do you mean a live (PE, Preinstalled Environment) USB, or just an installer? If a PE is enough, Microsoft provides a free Win7 one with the WIAK (Windows Automated Installation Kit), but it is a massive download. Oops, it requires a Windows install just to create the boot ISO before using it lol.

XP is kind of difficult to install via USB, but there are a few guides on the net. If you want a pre-tweaked version, a good one can be found at the Bay: torrent/7180951/

I thought warez was illegal on this forum ?

Content like this can get bitcointalk.org banned under laws like SOPA / PIPA ...
It isn't warez if you have a key.
2836  Other / Meta / Re: Unjust scammer tag on: May 14, 2012, 07:53:47 PM
Another lie unearthed = A1BITCOINPOOL still has the scammer tag after he supposedly paid you.

Will that also happen to me ? I pay you whatever fictive things you demand and still I am left with the scammer tag Huh

First you are lying about some other member then you are demanding ransom BTC to remove my scammer tag Angry

Are you even admin on here Tongue

Can admin please confirm this "story" because it all seems like an attempt to scam me off 22.5 BTC.

AFAIK smart1985 is demanding 22.5 but now all of a sudden it is Raize too. Next thing you know the whole forum wants 22.5 BTC from me to remove this tag.

I don't want any tag removed anyway so keep trying to scam Raize because you are not going to fool me that easily.

Also "I have told smart195 to cease all communication with you" = very nice way to rip me off 22.5 BTC !
Gimme 22.5 BTC to make up for my wasted time. No wait, make that 18,000 or so.
2837  Other / Off-topic / Re: 872 mh/s firmware release - Butterfly Labs on: May 14, 2012, 07:28:53 PM
Just doing some math...

With 4 @ 832, I was drawing 300W at the wall including the router (12W), so (300-12)/4 = 72W per BFL.

Currently have 2 @ 872, and 2 @ 832, drawing 310W at the wall including the router (the other 2 won't run at 872).

So with 72W per 832 unit, the 872 units must be using ((310-12) - (2*72))/2 = 77W.

Comparing hash rates:
832: 813MH/s @72W = 11.26 MH/s/W
872: 849MH/s @77W = 11.02 MH/s/W

So SLIGHTLY less efficient.

You have a little miscalculation
813 / 72 = 11.29 MH/s/W
849 / 77 = 11.03 MH/s/W

Also interesting :
849MH/s - 813MH/s @ 77W - 72W = 36MH/s @ 5W = 7.2 MH/s/W

The 7.2 MH/s/W for the extra power is probably still profitable for you, if not, you better go back to 813 MH/s.

P.S.
I like math Smiley
How about someone measuring the power draw with each bitstream and creating a table? Mine use between 117 and 120 watts on the 872 bitstream.
I'll do it if someone pays for a killawatt for me.  Smiley
Not worth it I guess, there must be too many hardware variations for it to be useful. P_Shep's unit with the 872 bitstream gets 849 mhash/s at 77 watts, but mine with the same bitstream gets 866 at 120 watts.

Is this true? Is their blog, assumingly hosted elsewhere, offline? This would make no sense to me if true. A/the blog, in conjunction with this forum, would/should be the main source of communication to their users for them.
The blog was put up and taken down the same day.

MSDN ISO + SLP activation = ultimate for free with no malware risk..

I run no AV, just a monthly scan. All keygens and anything else I don't trust gets run in VMware, browsing in another VM as we speak. Only trusted software ever makes it to my main system.
+1 for SLP activation.

It's monday, back to regular operation:

504 Gateway Time-out

nginx/0.7.67

sigh

Aaaaaaand it's broken again.
Jeez, does this thing run on coal and steam ?

Nah, just hamsters that need feeding occasionally.
