Fuck NDAs, and fuck proprietary technologies. I'm proud to be supporting the first and only open-source ASIC creation spearheaded by Jason et al.

I ask that the poll be removed from the thread if possible.  Having a fake poll say "Bulanula is awesome" with a majority of "yes" votes is misleading and is an abuse of the forum.  Those who didn't see what the poll said before will be misled by it.
+1.
+2. Mods?
Looks like it's been fixed. Grin

Dwolla is USA only, if that affects your decision.
2404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: List of Major Bitcoin Heists, Thefts, Hacks, Scams, and Losses on: May 27, 2012, 06:47:08 PM
Isn't there already a thread dedicated to the number of bitcoins lost and/or destroyed, but not stolen?
2405  Other / Meta / Re: New Forum Software: End the Stagnancy on: May 27, 2012, 06:40:23 PM
Keep it simple, stupid. I like smf, but phpbb would do in a pinch. If you must use something else, xenforo with some of the extraneous features stripped out would be my next choice. Vbulletin is overrated and has feature bloat.
2406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Emergency ANN] Bitcoinica site is taken offline for security investigation on: May 27, 2012, 11:41:36 AM
Theres an old saying that a backup doesnt exist untill its in 3 separate places Smiley

thats a good saying.
Additionally, rjk's Third Law Of Backups states that if your backup procedures are rigorous and the backups are stored in at least 3 locations, you will never ever have to recover from them. If however they suddenly disappear due to a freak accident, that is the day you are guaranteed to need them the most.

Kind of like the Law Of Extra Parts also by rjk: if you need 5 screws to complete a project, and you bring only 5, you are guaranteed to lose one of them. If however you bring 6 screws to a project that needs only 5, you are guaranteed to always have 1 left over.

Furthermore, no exchange is ever required to communicate with its customers on a public forum. If they choose to do so, that is their business.
2408  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [ANN] Hedge Fund Indirect Investing on: May 27, 2012, 04:57:50 AM
So let me get this straight. Are you investing in something using bitcoins directly, or are you planning to cash out to fiat in order to make your investment? Because I don't know of any large markets that take BTC directly.

So if we take the worst case scenario: suppose someone actually came up with 500k bitcoins; do you actually have another 500k to match them? And furthermore, there is no possible way that the market depth could handle a 1,000,000 BTC sale.
2409  Economy / Marketplace / Re: GetBitcoin's New Cash Deposits, In Partnership With BitInstant on: May 27, 2012, 04:40:59 AM
I have to wonder, how old are you really? Your lack of comprehension is hindering your ability to espouse fluently. If you cared to look, you would find that bitinstant et al are only providing a service to get-bitcoin/thomas, and aren't "in the same boat" at all.

Whatever failings that get-bitcoin and tom are having are not related to bitinstant's business, and therefore you have no right to attack bitinstant. And stop with the veiled threatening, it makes you look small.

Anubis: Analyzing Unknown Binaries, rather useful site too Smiley
Cool site! Analysis of this particular sample: http://anubis.iseclab.org/?action=result&task_id=10628d7019a46f47405a49a63bcc93a25

It appears to be a trojan that does keylogging, and installs a reverse shell or VNC-type program. It does 2 DNS lookups and a few http connections, all shown in the report.

Here is the beginning of the text report, not all of it will fit due to forum limits on the amount of text in one post:

It doesnt matter if your deal with them is cheaper. The total cost coming out of the customer's pocket dictates your sale.

DHL express is probably the best for international shipping. In Asia, they're the most preferred one.

Why not? I doubt they are padding their shipping prices, so if they get a discount, you do too.

Worst timing ever. I could have bought that today if I wasn't robbed again. I'll save up I guess.

2413  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Namecoin v3.50 : faster & better on: May 26, 2012, 10:11:28 PM
Wow, I thought it was mostly dead. Glad to see Namecoin still being worked on.
Are there any plans to make the jump to the 0.6.x bitcoin sources?

EDIT: Also, what about Windows support for this newest version?
2414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin Security Module": Adding hardware security for hot wallets on: May 26, 2012, 10:04:59 PM
The whole point is that the HSM is a single-purpose device. There is no point loading it down with extraneous functions, because they could be better performed by normal hardware in the usual manner. Additionally, giving the HSM a large set of features just means that many more things to hack and break. You want it to have a blockchain? That needs a network connection, which is not smart to have on such an HSM. Most HSM devices are connected via a serial port for a good reason: Harder to hack remotely.

I tried to read it, but wasn't impressed. The writer seemed to want to talk about sex and anarchy at the cost of actual literary coherence.
