SLC is a scam, so it doesn't count.

Why do you keep quoting everything in this thread Huh

It's not like it is going to change ever.
I wondered that too, but the best I can come up with is that there may be a slightly reduced mental functionality, perhaps he looks somewhat like his avatar. Grin
Protip bitpop, if you can't think of something to say, there isn't much point making a blank post. xD
2302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A day in the life of a pirate. on: May 30, 2012, 01:12:05 PM
Does anyone suspect that Clipse and pirateat40 might have the same business model? They both sell bitcoins locally, and they both pay extra for people to mine for them. Neither of them give away much more information than that (understandably).

Hmm.... Smiley
I'm pretty sure it is, although I wasn't going to call it. He's in South Africa, and Pirateat40 is in Texas, so their markets don't really overlap when selling to local people on the ground.

As to why the buyers will pay such a premium - well I still haven't figured that out.

I might note that when I tried the fastest version on my unit, cgminer showed half speed, the U tanked, and the share submission rate was like 1 or 2 per minute, but no errors showed. Apparently this is because the API command to discover the error rate is not known and so can't be shown in cgminer. If you use EasyMiner to run a diagnostic, you will probably find that it is giving errors, even if it isn't actually throttling.
2305  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL UNIT 832 DEVICES on: May 30, 2012, 12:42:36 PM
No offense, but you are an idiot, you are pulling numbers out of your ass, and asking a company that I would guess is selling BFLs at almost cost (based on their price vs other fpgas that are selling at cost for $500 or so) to give out thousands of dollars they don't have because you were unhappy that you got something 18 days late.
Exceptionally unlikely that they are not making a good profit on the BFL singles.
Read the following thread about the chip price ...
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=79825.0
Yes, and from other comments made by BFL, it sounds to me like they might have convinced Altera to spin up another run of wafers based on the old masks for those chips, and not have gotten them NOS or any such thing.

This is the best I can find from the BAMT mega thread... sorry I can't help more I need to go now.

2307  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BitForce SC - full custom ASIC on: May 30, 2012, 02:37:24 AM
My best guess is because since the Singles are reprogrammable, they plan to use them all over again in some unrelated application. Even if the chips are kind of ancient, they are high performance.
2308  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [5 BTC Bounty] Tutorial for getting my first BAMT rig working on: May 30, 2012, 02:29:09 AM
I don't recognize that error, but lodcrappo isn't around very often... I somehow doubt that that error is related to the choice of card, but to answer your earlier question - yes a 5970 should work fine.

Perhaps you can try another USB on another rig?
2309  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [5 BTC Bounty] Tutorial for getting my first BAMT rig working on: May 30, 2012, 02:15:59 AM
When you boot BAMT you should get a graphical screen anyways, not a command prompt. Wonder if it already hates you because of the 7970. Try a different card just for grins and see what happens.
2310  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL UNIT 832 DEVICES on: May 30, 2012, 02:12:47 AM
Its not me I am talking about, I am talking about everyone else.
Perhaps a $50 compensation pay back per BFL unit?

Just saying they should give something back.
I properly was over the top.

But I am just pointing things out that
there are a lot of unhappy people out there.

Listen, I am right at the top of the list, and do you hear me bitching? No. While we all agree that the marketing materials (website) could be adjusted to reflect something accurate, I'm not asking for a refund for fuck's sake. If you were around when they first showed up, you would have gotten in at the pre-order price of $499 anyway, like I did. You are late, so that is your loss.

You also had plenty of opportunity to read some of the dozens of threads here about them, and make an informed decision, but since you didn't bother I am going to call this bullshit right now.

Cool website.
2312  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [5 BTC Bounty] Tutorial for getting my first BAMT rig working on: May 30, 2012, 02:04:33 AM
Do 7970s even work with BAMT?
2313  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL UNIT 832 DEVICES on: May 30, 2012, 02:02:51 AM
Well everyone on the list should be given a free BFL unit not just me.

Thats only 60 free BFL units, properly only costs $300 to make, an guess.
$300*60=$18,000.

But they have made much more then that. I am sure they can compensate.
Besides if they do compensate, a lot more customers will join them, yielding
more then $18,000 for them being nice to do so.
I've completely lost your train of thought. Let me know when you are sober again.

You forgot to mention that they raise a bunch of money for the city and the private company who owns them.
If people pay the tickets, that is.

They definitely pay. So much so that the city here raised over 1300 dollars in a couple months just from online convenience fees.
Perhaps so, I was just recalling some Cali installations that are being removed because the fines weren't being paid and were losing money.

this devices from butterfly labs support any pools? im on gpumax and im thinking on buy on of this devices, anyone knows?
They support all pools with the exception of P2Pool, using either cgminer/bfgminer or ufasoft's miner. Bitminter software also supports them, but can only be used with their pool.

Server not found  Cool
LOL I forgot about that one. I wondered how long it was going to be before he lost interest and abandoned it, or got it shut down or whatever happened to it.
2319  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: TRADEHILL WHY DON'T U PAY BACK MY MONEY?? on: May 30, 2012, 12:36:56 AM
One wonders how many of these claims are fraudulent.

what do you mean with "these claims" ??
What I mean is that there are several users that show up literally months after closure of TH asking for their money, and I find it hard to believe that they have taken that long to payout. Also common to these users is a fairly bad grasp of English and insistent posting here on a public forum that isn't related to the business. I'm not trying to be personal, just an observation that I am making.

Am I mistaken or are you chaining PCI-e extenders ? I was wondering if I could do that...
Yep. For mining with its minimal bandwidth, it should be fine. Has worked in my other rigs as well, you can chain 1x as well as 16x or combine them however you like.
