Hello, I'd like to make a quick announcement.

The news page (post #2) has been updated as follows:

2012-05-22: An interview with gigavps of Gigamining has been published on our blog.
Cool!

Has anyone figured out the problems getting the config file to properly load pool details yet?
It's extremely sensitive to the tiniest error in the syntax. So if you have only one pool, there might be an extra comma somewhere. Or if you added another one, you might have one too many curly braces.

Dual pool example was posted initially, this should work for single pool (although I recommend a failover):

Code:
{
"pools" : [
{
"url" : "http://pool.com:8332",
"user" : "user",
"pass" : "pass"
}
],
"api-port" : "4028",
"expiry" : "120",
"log" : "5",
"queue" : "1",
"retry-pause" : "5",
"scan-time" : "60",
"submit-stale" : true,
"temp-hysteresis" : "3",
"shares" : "0"
}
If that doesn't help, start the batch file from a cmd prompt and see if you can identify what error is making it unhappy.

EDIT: most of the values from the config file and the command line can be mix-'n-matched - so if you feel like specifying the pools on the command line, just remove the associated bits from the config file.
2605  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Future of Money Conf- Some feedback and pic on: May 22, 2012, 02:55:13 AM

I hate to bump almost a month later but has there been any progress on this? It seemed really exciting and then I heard nothing more about it.

Actually yes, we should be launching it within 72 hours if all goes well  Grin
Wow, cool.  Define "launching"?

I just realized there is one small change we need to do which shouldnt take more than half a day.

Having said that, we have a few things to finish up- hence the reason I gave myself a 3 day time frame.

Test in a live environment, do a physical test, make sure its aesthetically pleasing, do some stress tests, and I think we are good to go.

It was a long project, took alot of contracts, down payments, late nights, brining on another full time programmer and full time attorney, but I think we got this shit ready.

I've already said more then I should  Cheesy
So like... is it this bitcoin card thingy? Because that would be nice to get out on the streets asap. Otherwise, I'll wait and see, I guess.

2607  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 2 BTC bounty - CGminer and bitforce on: May 22, 2012, 02:47:11 AM
working on this.....can i still run GPU's at the same time?
You would need to change the config to include the usual GPU info - unfortunately I don't have a GPU in the box that is running my Single, so I can't provide an example. But you should be able to blend the configs from a GPU machine with the one above and use both. If you have never used a cgminer config file before, there is an example included in the download to go off of.

It looks like it is on Com3.....but I cannot get right.  What should the script look like?

C:\<path to miner>\cgminer.exe -S \\.\COM3 -S \\.\COM3

?
If you only have one, just remove the second -S \\.\COMxx entry, or add more if you have more than one. If the xx number is lower than 10, you can use it without \\.\ I think.
2608  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 2 BTC bounty - CGminer and bitforce on: May 22, 2012, 02:27:35 AM
1. Find the serial port numbers from the Device Manager - devmgmt.msc. Should be COMxx where the xx is one or 2 numbers.
2. Batch file in the Startup folder with this:
Code:
C:\<path to miner>\cgminer.exe -S \\.\COMxx -S \\.\COMxx
3. cgminer.conf file in the same folder as cgminer.exe, in the following format:
Code:
{
"pools" : [
{
"url" : "http://pool.com:8332",
"user" : "user",
"pass" : "pass"
},
{
"url" : "http://pool.com:8337",
"user" : "user",
"pass" : "pass"
}
],
"api-port" : "4028",
"expiry" : "120",
"log" : "5",
"queue" : "1",
"retry-pause" : "5",
"scan-time" : "60",
"submit-stale" : true,
"temp-hysteresis" : "3",
"shares" : "0"
}

Some of those settings may not apply to you, but they are what work for me. Apparently there is a way to put the device info into the config file, but I have never been able to get it working that way. If the config file is named cgminer.conf, it will be loaded automatically without having to be specified.

Ill keep my eyes open for it when I go visit him very soon.

If you are going to visit shakaru, fine, go visit him. Why you keep announcing it is beyond me.

In the meantime, when all of this 'talk' started, the mining on the refund address stopped.
Probably bookin it for the hills, after having put the rig in hock.
2610  Economy / Marketplace / Re: ["WAIT LIST"] BFL Singles Order Date / Ship Date on: May 22, 2012, 12:52:28 AM
48 days....I'm awfully suspicious lol.  They manage to shave 10 days off shipping time in a day?
Wonder if Drome got his today.
Maybe they hired an intern lol.

Maybe they are a "professional operation" and don't respond to forum trolling, but only by email? Nah... I kind of doubt it. Has anyone gotten a response by email either, other than an automated confirmation?

Also, broken DNSSEC. Fail.
2612  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why do I get these comments on my blog? on: May 21, 2012, 11:25:57 PM
Perhaps they had links that your blog software filtered out?
2613  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A day in the life of a pirate. on: May 21, 2012, 11:17:19 PM
I have a good question. Could whatever you are doing bring increased awareness to Bitcoin, or is it somewhat confined within the existing community?

Bump, price reduced to 550 BTC, or feel free to make an offer. The video card on this can be swapped for a 6990m, if you change the cooling out for something a little different. Not sure whether it will fit a 7970m or not, but that would be even more epic.

times changing... a year ago these were a hot stuff... now it is antic...

do you turn to fpga mining?
I have only 1 BFL Single as my FPGA, but I also have the thing in my sig that I want to complete. Smiley

Thanks for making that look nice, but my school blocks goo.gl and I'm on my blackberry which I don't have a VPN/proxy set up on Tongue

I'm probably going to end up buying that Alienware but I'll check it out when I get home.
Try opera mobile, they have special built in proxies.

re: Bruce, sorry I dont buy that answer at all. He is as verbal about bitfloor atm as he was about mybitcoin and his other scams, I expected a less conceiling and open answer than that.
My guess is that Bruce promotes him because he was the most recent exchanger to come on his show and chat him up. No other reason. As soon as another exchange comes along and shows up on Bruce's show, that's who he'll start promoting next.

Side note: The episode where Shtylman was on the show was creepy. Bruce was acting really fucking weird, like more weird than usual.
2619  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost Coins and Wallet Expiration Solution on: May 21, 2012, 07:26:01 PM
Divisibility adds supply? It reduces it..

Also, how do you prove that a coin is lost? What if some early investor comes back to find that his coins have been invalidated?
2620  Economy / Computer hardware / [closed] [WTS] ASRock 970 Extreme4 + Sempron 145 + 2 GB RAM and aluminum fram... on: May 21, 2012, 07:15:03 PM
SOLD

This is for an ASRock 970 Extreme4, including a Sempron 145 processor and 2 GB of Kingston RAM. The board was just returned from ASRock as a warranty replacement for a dead board, so it should be working fine. It has 3 x16 slots, 2 x1 slots, and 2 standard PCI slots.

Asking 25 24 22  20 BTC including shipping to lower 48  US and Canada.

I also have the frame that it was in, but it is impossible to take apart without damage, so shipping would probably be a bit more. It is a Detritus-style frame, with the design modified slightly to gigavps standards. Holes are pre-drilled to fit 6 cards, and it will support 2 PSUs too.

Frame with motherboard tray I will sell for 20 19 17 15 BTC including shipping, and if you order the board, CPU, RAM, and frame together I will sell the package for 41 40 38  32 BTC, with shipping. EDIT: Prices reduced due to exchange rate going up, and because I need to get rid of this stuff!
