381  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 Oscar Awards bets and discussions on: February 02, 2024, 06:16:15 AM
and also with this big readjustment on the odds, there might be an argument that Paul Giamatti certainly has a chance. But the chance to bet is gone already because 12.00 was more than the fair odds for Giamatti against Cillian Murphy.
Yep. At these odds, I woulnd't put my money on Giamatti as risk to reward ratio ain't good anymore.

The Holdovers might have 2 awards, best original screenplay and best picture.
They might and I hope they will win at least one, but they might end up not getting neither of those two. I could see Anatomy of a Fall winning the one for best screenplay (I pefer The Holdovers, but I wouldn't mind anatomy winniner) and of course we all know who is the main favorite for the best picture one.
382  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 1xbit refuse to send me back my deposits on: February 01, 2024, 05:26:48 PM
Why didn't you do at least a short research before making any decision about playing at this casino?
To be honest, unless he did a more serious research on 1xbit, he would simply fall for their marketing. They are advertising all over the place and even if you google stuff like "is 1xbit good gambling site", first results will be positive reviews and opinions. Only after users get scammed they stumble upon bitcointalk but by that time its already too late.

Should I report this with all my evidence to the internet crime authority and illegal gambling manufacturers and internet police on all websites? I want my part of the deposit back because I don't deserve you stealing my own money.
You can try, but chances of you ever getting your money back are slim so be prepared for that.

383  Other / Off-topic / Re: The use of mobile phones and a computer for forum discussions. on: February 01, 2024, 04:59:00 PM
From my own view, I still chose to work with my mobile phone than the computer. What do you think?
I find it interesting that you keep mentioning word "work".  Wink

I really do not know how anyone has the time to type any kind of conversation of meaningful length with a mobile phone. They would take much longer than if they were using a keyboard. Or perhaps is it just me who types slowly on mobile phones? I mean, the screen is quite small.
There are probably some people on this forum who can't afford computer so they don't have any other option other than keep wiritng on their mobile phones. As for me, I write maybe ~10% of the posts from my mobile phone and those are usually short replies like this one, when I am chilling on the couch and/or I am too bored to move to my desktp setup or when I am away from my laptop for longer period fo time, which doesn't happen often.

384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My first Bitcoin on: January 31, 2024, 10:08:29 PM
So, is it safe for me to store my coin there
Nope. Binance (and any other centralized exchange) is one of the worst possible places to store your bitcoin and should be moved as soon as possible, just keep in mind that withdrawal fee is not negligable.

I know of electron but apart from the electron is there any other wallet which is safe?.
I guess you meant to say Electrum?Anyway, Electrum is one of the best bitcoin wallets so it should be on top of your list. If (when) you can afford it, hardware wallet would be even better solution as it would give you another layer of protection and if you plan to be into bitcoin for a long run, getting one should be one of your priorities.

385  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: At a range of 2years, can a Bitcoin literate invest with a borrowed fund in BTC? on: January 31, 2024, 09:54:57 PM
Hmm.... Please does it sound good quite understanding the volatility nature in the Bitcoin industry?
Taking a loan from bank in order to invest in something as risky as bitcoin is (don't belive anyone tell you otherwise) is a stupid move, while taking a loan from a relative is even more stupid move as you may risk not only not being able to pay him back but also mess up family relationship.

So, tell your friend that he should find some other ways to earn more money in order to invest in bitcoin rather than taking loans to do so.
386  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Mjesečna Analiza za Hrvatsku Lokalnu Zajednicu (Bitcointalk Croatian) on: January 31, 2024, 09:46:39 PM

Analiza broja postova tijekom Prosinca 2023

Lista aktivnih clanova tijekom Prosinca 2023

387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Binary Trade Better or Better to Buy and Hold Bitcoin? on: January 31, 2024, 03:52:48 PM
Since you have to ask that question, answer is pretty obvious: stick to buy and hold bitcoin tactic. Unless you are willing to spend years of your time and loads of money to actually be able to trade successfully. Then again, that's something majority of people have to realize by themselves (that trading ain't so easy as it seems at first) and lose some money while doing it.
388  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: January 31, 2024, 03:40:36 PM
But I don't know whether this condition will have a big impact on the local board or not
I don't see why it should as from what I can see most of the campaigns count local board posts towards weekly quota.

Here you go! My updated locals race image!
Cheers, overview has been updated!

389  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 Oscar Awards bets and discussions on: January 30, 2024, 05:39:30 PM
Also, another question would be how many actors and actresses that have won in Bafta, also won in the same category in the Oscars?
Last year they had different winners in all actor categories while year before that (2022) the only one who won both Bafta and Oscar for same role was Will Smith for King Richard. So yeah, I guess its pretty common to have diferent winners.

I am quite surprised that Paul Giamatti's odds went from 12.00 to 2.90. This is a big adjustment.
Hah, that is indeed a big readjustment but even though I would like for him to win, betting on Cillian Murphy still makes more sesen. I just don't see how he looses an Oscar this year.
390  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: January 30, 2024, 12:23:39 PM
What will also be interesting to see is how January 2024 behaves once the month is over, bearing in mind the readjustments in campaigns/participants that have taken place after the ban on mixer campaigns, which might lead to seeing some changes in the information shown. That’s something you’re already looking at and commenting in the monthly update, so let’s see if anything worth highlighting comes up with the next update.
Since majority of those who were in mixer signature campaigns found their spots elsewhere I don't expect a big decrease. Having said that, I do somehow feel that its harder to find interesting topics lately but I don't know is it just me and I am less interested in forum at the moment or there's an actual change.

Note: Spanish Local board active member list seems to have been left blank for December 2023.
You see, this is what happens when I rush with these overviews.  Cheesy Anyway, thanks for letting me know, its been sorted now.
391  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the minimum time or interval expected to make post ? on: January 30, 2024, 12:08:27 PM
But if you are working on a signature campaign then try to make your post time interval long so that it can help your campaign and the banner promoted to be visible on different time of the day.
People are really doing that??

Imho, that doesn't make much sense to me and I don't think that it even work the way you think  or helps the campaign you are part of.  Instead trying to time your answers and spread it over longer period of time you should focus on the quality of your posts and everything else is less important. That of course doesn't mean that you should write 5 posts in 10 minutes, but if you are actually putting some effort in your posts you won't be able to that anyway.

392  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: January 30, 2024, 10:46:26 AM
I probably should have released this overview before the yearly one, but it is what it is now, next time I'll do it like that. Either way, just before end of the month overview is here and as usual it was made using data provided by @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard and @TryNinja Ninjastic.space which I suggest to check if you want more in depth overview of the each local board.

Communities marked with * (Pakistan, Bangladesh) don't have their own local boards but that's something I hope will change this year.

Post activity per local board during December 2023

During December 22544 posts were written across 18 local boards that are part of the overview, which is a small decrease (~6%) compared to the month before (23958). As usual, Russian board ha sbeen by far the most active one and once again going over 6k mark (this feat is even more impressive considering the fact that they have to use VPN in order to access bitcointalk), followed by Turkish and Nigerian local boards while Portuguese and German close the top 5. On the other side, Romanian, Greek and Polish local boards remain and the bottom and far away from the next closest local board, in this month Arabic.

Speaking of change in activity, majority of local boards remained pretty similar to previous month (generally a bit fewer posts) with only French local board having more significant drop of ~40% (from 512 to
312).

Active members per local board during December 2023

In the previous month 1526 local board members wrote at least 1 post which is very similar to November's numbers (1531). Naturally, Russian board is leader in this chart as well, with Nigerian board at the 2nd and Indonesian local board at the 3rd place while at the other side standard names are at the bottom of the chart.

Local board members per amount of posts during December 2023

In the "1 post" bracket, Greek board is leader with 50% of members writing only 1 post, followed by Arabic (48%) and Polish (46%) local boards. At the same time, Indonesian board has only 12% of such members, while Nigerian has 15% and Pilipinas with 17%.

Regarding 2-9 posts bracket, Pilipinas board is the leader with 44%, followed closely by German (43%) and Greek (42%). On the other side, Arabic has only 19% of such members, followed by Croatian and Romanian boards with 20% each.

When it comes to 10+ posts bracket, Polish board is the leader with 54%, followed by Pakistan (50%) and Croatian (48%) local boards. Likewise, Greek local board has only 8% of such members, Spanish has 24%) and French with 26%.

Merit shared per local board during December 2023

During above mentioned period 7916 merit was shared across local boards which is a small decrease (~5%) compared to November which makes sense as number of posts decreased in the similar percentage. Leader is once again Russian local board with 1787 merit which is not a surprise given their post number, while Indonesian board is not that far ahead with 1459 merit while Nigerian board was at 3rd (1273). At the bottom is Greek board with only 1 merit shared, while other standard names are there as well.

Merit/Post ratio per local board during December 2023

Regarding the merit/post chart, Romanian board is at the top with 1.16, while Arabic is at the 2nd spot and had 1.1 and Spanish at 3rd with 0.97. When it comes to the botton, no surprise to see Greek there since they shared only 1 merit in the above mentioned period while several others like Indian, Pilipinas and Turkish are imho undemerited as well.

Merit senders and receivers per local board during December 2023

During December 519 members sent merit in one of the local boards while 578 members received merit which is again not too far away from November's numbers (537/591). Boards are arranged based on the amount of merit shared and the one that once again sticks out is Pilipinas board which is in my opinion the most undermerited board among the more active ones and that goes for quite some time.

Percentage of merited posts across local boards during December 2023

Like in the November, Romanian board is once again at the top with 50% of the posts being merited which is a very high percentage, but something like that is possible only for less active boards. Spanish board is second with also very high 40% and Polish local board with 34%. Onc again Greek is at the bottom with only 2% posts getting merited (to be more specific only 1 post) and Pilipinas and Turkish also having very low percentage of merited posts.

Merit per transaction across local boards during December 2023

And last in this series of charts, merit per transaction chart that gives as a little bit more info on each board's merit sharing habits, and no surprise that boards with highest merit per post ratio also has usually high merit per transaction ratio.

The most active members per local board during December 2023

And in the end of this month's overview, top 10 most active members per local board. After a long time, we have a new the most active member BVeyron who wrote 258 posts in Russian local board and who narrowly beat usual name at the top, joker_josue from Portuguese local board who wrote 255 posts and at the 3rd spot is another member from Russian local, The0ldl_lser who wrote 238 posts. Kudos guys, keep it up!

Merit earners are reluctant to use what they have. We can't force anyone to use their sMerits, but this kind of behavior affects the overall circulation.
If that kind of behaviour is affecting your local board that much, maybe you should start avoiding meriting those who are reluctant to keep sharing the merit, even if their posts are helpful and merit worthy? I honestly never saw any point in hoarding merit and I usually spend mine the same day I got them or in a few days max.

Get used to waiting buddy as the more you rank up, the longer you gonna have to wait for the next rank.

So, for example, after you've become Sr Member in a few weeks, you will have to wait for something like 7-8 months to become Hero Member which means those 2 weeks that you have to wait now are nothing really.
396  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Godisnji pregled aktivnosti domaceg podforuma on: January 27, 2024, 06:58:10 PM

397  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 Oscar Awards bets and discussions on: January 26, 2024, 03:16:58 PM
@Rikafip. It appears that you might be correct! It also appears that Emma Stone is becoming the favorite and adjusted Lily Gladstone's odds back to 2.10 from 1.45. What are the oddsmakers speculating on this? What caused this adjustment? Are they speculating that Emma Stone will win Bafta? I reckon Sandra Hüller might be the more popular vote for best actress in Bafta.
Who knows, oodsmakers work in myserious ways.  Cheesy

But seriously, the more I think about it, the more I am feel that Lily Gladstone wins the Oscar, despite the change in the odds. Maybe some of your pessimism spread on me as well.

I speculate that if Sandra Hüller wins, the adjustment on the odds for her will be very big.
Was like that in the past? I am asking because I can't remember if BAFTA affected Oscar odds that much as after all its UK award, not US which is very different and visible from the fact that they didn't even bother to nominate Lily Gladstone.

Are you ready for Bitcoin's extreme low?
Since I am not a miner, short term investor or trader, I am definitely ready for new bitcoin lows. I would of cousre prefer if it doesn't happen, but if it does I will see it only as an opportunity to get more bitcoin via buying for cash and earning more more via signature campaign. Grin

By looking at Rikafip's monthly merit overview, I can see that the Turkish local is in the top 5 in the category total number of distributed merits. My guess is it was like that in the past as well.
True, Truksih local bas been among top 5 most of the time, which makes sense as they were consistently among top 3 local boards when it comes to number of posts (mostly 2nd behind Russian). Then again, their merit/post ratio has been among the lowest ones as well, which could indicate that they could use more merit, unless quality of discussion is lower than on many of the other local boards.

@CLS63 good luck with your application and be prepared to wait for some time as thyemos tends to approve merit source applications in bulk when merit shared drop significantly and that hasn't been the case as of yet.
