THank you Rikafip

just updated the local race chart
Damn you are fast! Overview updated, cheers!

Finally I was able to enter the top 10 list on the local board.
Grats. Since indonesian board is one of the most active ones, no surprise that it ain't easy to finish in top 10. Then again, the more active local board is, its easier to write more posts.

I'm starting to think I have a problem, as I wasn't expecting to have 300 posts in October just in the Portuguese tab. Lips sealed
WTB someone like you for our local board.  Grin
622  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Avoid trading crypto in real person. You can see this now on Binance. on: November 16, 2023, 03:45:56 PM
This is actually the first time I heard that people are meeting in real life to trade crypto. That's really bad decision, I don't know how they own crypto but they choose to trade by meeting in real life. They could use P2P trading platform, they could use DEX, it's even worse than Centralized Exchange, they expose their identity and meeting stranger.
The things I won't see here...people claiming that real life P2P trade is worse than using centralized exchange.

I don't know where you guys live, but over here in Croatia (EU) its pretty common and safe to do live P2P trades as long as your are using common sense like not buying/selling large amounts with the total stranger or meeting in a dark alley in a dodgy part of town. Me and quite a lot of my friends did bunch of those trades and I never heard anyone having any issues whatsoever.

Chart lovers rejoice, its time for yet another brief monthly overview of the local boards activity but this time a little bit later than usual. All charts and table are made using data from @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard and @TryNinja Ninjastic.space while images are uploaded via TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk made by @joker_josue.

Communities marked with * (Pakistan, Bangladesh) don't have their own local boards yet and that's somethiong that I hope will change soon. @theymos @Cyrus, what are you guys waiting for?  Smiley

Post activity per local board during October 2023

During October, 22105 posts were made across 18 local boards which is a significant increase compared to a September's numbers (18741) which is a 18% increase and iirc one of the best results in a while. I guess combination of summer being over and market looking better helped with that increase and I hope it continues the same in the months ahead.

When it comes to the most active boards, no surprise there: Russian is still far ahead the other, with Turks at the 2nd and Nigerians at the high 3rd spot. It is unusual to see German board being the 6th most active one as they were in the top 3 for the majority of time I nam doing doing these overviews and I hope that they can recover.

Like at the top, no changes at the other side either with the standard three names at the bottom.

Local Board post race

Animated local board post race chart, courtesy of bitmover

Active members per local board during October 2023

In the above mentioned period 1504 members wrote at least 1 post on one of the local boards which is a noticeable increase compare to a month before and 1355 active members. Once again Russian local  board had by far the most active members, with Nigerian at the 2nd and Indonesian at 3rd.

Its important to mention the Nigerian growth as at the begining of the year they had less than 90 active members and now that number doubled, with the tendency to keep increasing while Indonesians are not doing bad either in that regard.

Local board members per amount of posts during October 2023

When it comes to the percentage of members who wrote only 1 post in their board during above mentioned period, Indian is the leader with 71%, followed by Romanian (64%) and Greek (55%). At the same time, Croatian has only 14% of such members while Nigerian and Indonesian share the 2nd least with 21%.

Regarding the 2-9 posts bracket, Polish board is the leader with 56%, followed by Bangladesh (46%) and Russian (43%) local boards. Likewise, Greek local, board has ther lowest percentage of such members (only 9%), followed by Romanian (18%) and Portuguese (19%) local boards.

In the 10+ posts bracket, Turkish board is the leader with 50% of such members, while Portuguese is 2nd with 49% and Nigerian 3rd with 47%. At the same time, Indian board has the lowest percentage (13%), followed by Romanian (18%) and Polish (22%) local boards.

Merit shared per local board during October 2023

During October, 10296 merit was shared across local board, which is a slight increase compared to month before ( 9835). I have to say that I thought increase will be bigger than it was due 18% more written posts, but this is a still good number and i will take any increase. After all, only a few local boards still struggle with merit while majority are in a pretty good situation.

Once again Russian board is at the top, but this time Indonesian came really close and 2097 merit shared in a month must have been their recors so far. I know that @hugeblack was helping them lately (and other local boards that lacked merit) via his thread but I think someone else might have started sharing merit there as well. Another positive surprise is Indian local board that had only 56 merit shared in September while last month that number increased to 318 which is a very good result.

Regarding the boards that had decrease, German board used to be higher and even overtook Russian board for a coiple of months, but for whatever reason thjey dropped below 1k which is still ok givenb their number of posts.

Merit/Post ratio per local board for October 2023

Since both number of posts and number of merit went up (with number of posts went up more), generally speaking there's no big diffeence compared to previous month. What is noticeable though is that 12 month average ratio is higher for many boards than the last month's which is not a good trend. But, even with that, merit/post ratio is still pretty solid for majority of boards, while some like Phillipines could definitely use outside help.

Regarding the boards with the highest ratio, for the first time ever Indonesian is at the top with an 1.24 ratio, which is even more impressive considering their activity as smaller boards like Arabic tend to have high ratio.

Percentage of merited posts across local boards during October 2023

Something strange happened in Indian board as they somehow managed to have 55% percent of posts that receive at least 1 merit which is the highest percentage I saw so far, esepcially since their usual number is much lower and it its around 20%. It would be interesting to hear someone from that board how they managed to achieve that and is their post quality increased that much or something else caused it. At the same time, polsih is not that far ahead but it is kinda normal for less active boards to have higher percentage of merited posts.

Merit senders and receivers per local board during October 2023

During the above mentioned period, 555 members sent the merit across local boards while 655 received. Compared to September's numbers (517/552) that is a slight increase which is not a surprise given the increase in the amount of merit shared and the overall oncrease of post activity.

Merit per transaction across local boards during October 2023

And the last in this series of charts, merit per transanction so we can get a better idea or each local board meriting habits. Once again, less active boards are at the top but the most active one (Russian) is not that far either.

The most active members per local board during October 2023

Last but not the least, in this month's local  board overview, list of the most active member per local board as they are the ones most responsible for keeping their local boards alive. As per usual, joker_josue from the Portuguese local board has been the most active with 306 posts, followed by Smartprofit (287) and BVeyron (237) from Russsian local board.

624  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Updated] FTX on: November 16, 2023, 07:07:45 AM
I don't really buy the CZ is not a real bitcoiner kinds of claims and framings of matters, even if you can point out to some examples of such.
[/quote]
Well, those examples I shared are the things I don't expect to hear from a bitcoiner.

which blockchain is he behind that is supposedly completely against bitcoin?  Are you talking about BNB? or Tether? Or something else?
BNB Smart Chain, which is a diametrically opposite to Bitcoin.

so yeah, lot of peeps have been wishing for their downfall, and the supposed tweet from CZ saying that binance was selling their FTT seemed to be the thing that triggered a lot of people into hating CZ even more because CZ said something against the out-of-shape regulator dick-sucking supposed effective altruism vegan... poor widdo sam.. CZ caused it all... blah blah blah.
As a matter of fact I think that's one of the positive things that he did, speeding up the FTX demise as the longer FTX with Sam at helm went on, more people would end up getting rekted.

Anyway, this is my last CZ/Binance related post here as I don't wanna go into offtopic anymore.
625  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Updated] FTX on: November 15, 2023, 09:30:56 PM
Also, it is headshaking that there are people in the forum who want to witness the imprisonment of CZ and the takedown of Binance hehehe.
Its no surprising at all that there are people (especially bitcoin maximalists) who would like to see Binance and CZ crash and burn as he pushed for Bitcoin rollback back in 2019 after someone stole 7k bitcoins from his exchange, or when he said that its better for average person to hold their crypto on centralzied exchanges and not in their own wallets. Add on that the fact that he is behind a completely centralized blockchain that goes against everything that Bitcoin stands for and you get loads of people who would like to see him fail.

As I said before, the main reason why I wouldn't like to see it happening is because people wouldn't learn anything from the Binance fall and would still trust someone else to take care of their money and all that would cause is setting crypto market few years back.
626  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: November 15, 2023, 09:09:40 PM
Now their only chance is to wait for Turkey to beat Wales.
Not really, as there are few scenarios in play.

For the sake of the argument, let's say that we (Croatia) wins both games. In that case, Wales has to win in both of their games as well meaning that even a draw vs Turkey will mean Croatia finishes 2nd in the group. Problem here (for Croatia) is that Turkey secured first position so for that that last game won't mean anything but on the other hand, Armenia still has a chance to finish 2nd so maybe they manage to at least get a draw vs Wales which would help us a lot.
627  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance Client Executives Kidnapped, Forced to Empty Crypto Wallets on: November 15, 2023, 08:47:03 PM
Me personal think this is impossible to happen without inside work from Binance. What do you think? 😎
It doesn't have to be that someone from Binance helped the perpertraors at all.

Considering the amount of money stolen, their client was obviously rich and rich people (especially nouveau riche who made money overnight via crypto) tend to flaunt their wealth around, letting people know how they made their money so it wasn't that hard for someone with band intentions to figure things out.
628  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Avoid trading crypto in real person. You can see this now on Binance. on: November 15, 2023, 08:37:14 PM
This is just not different from KYC if you trade with bad person. Avoid such physical trading.
Just because someone got attacked during trade doesn't mean that buying/selling bitcoin in person is bad. Problem is that people are not using common sense and are not careful enough when doing that, which sometimes end uo them getting robbed. Using that logic many things you do in real life shouldn't be done just because someone somwehere got robbed/attacked.

I've done quite a few in person trades and I never had any issues whatsoever. Then again, I am not having such meetings in some dodgy alley and trying to sell large amount of bitcoin to a person that I enver met before and instead it was always done in a very public place (for example casino or a mall) so chances of something happening are slim.
629  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What would you tell your younger self to learn this space efficiently? on: November 15, 2023, 03:31:05 PM
I'd advice myself to not get involved into trading to begin with. Retail trading is just waste of time and money.
I second that, but I think that's something that basically everyone has to go throught by themselves as I don't know a single persopn who is in crypto that haven't tried trading at some point, thinking thatits a no brainer and an easy way to earn money.

I was also thinking perhaps I should concentrate on learning to use wallets better as I only have a few (mainly just use ledger nano x).
Quality over quantity when it comes to wallets. You should primarily focus on non custodial open source wallets, and ledger nano x fails at the latter requirement.
630  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: November 15, 2023, 03:22:08 PM
They aren't really known to have German mentality, I think they won't give a shit about that result and I feel that a bet on Wales in that game might be a smart thing to do.
Betting on Wales in that game is a no brainer for us. If they win we get some money and if they don't that means that everything is up to us. Then again, with our current form and issues with the roster I am not sure that we can count on wins vs Latvia and Armenia.

Anyway, it will be the ultimate irony in case Wales and Turkey qualifies ahead of Croatia after the latter finished at the third position in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
That wouldn't be the first time something like that happened to us. Back in 1998 we were 3rd in the world and then we didn't qualify for 2000 Euro in Belgium & Netherland, and that was the only Euro qualifications that we failed to. Fingers crossed that history doesn't repeat itself.

We have Rikafip as the next one to leave, he played for 2 seasons without issues and then did not submit 3 rounds in a row.
Sorry guys, I fucked it up. I got used too much on those reminders that you used to send few hours before the deadline and without them I completely forgot to submit my answers.

Anyway, good luck with the rest of the season and apologies once again as I know how much effort you put into this.

I know that it isn't locked now but I am pretty sure that it was at some point and for whatever reason OP decided to unlock it, hence my question.
633  Economy / Exchanges / Re: FTX Exchange might be brought back online - Would you use it again? on: November 14, 2023, 08:36:12 PM
Because the FTX tokens are still trading, maybe there really is a chance of it coming back.
FTX is most likely coming back. The only thing that remains to be seen is who will actually relaunch it as there are several interested parties and some of them are very high profile ones like for example ex president of NYSE.

Source https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/former-nyse-president-in-talks-to-reboot-ftx-exchange/ar-AA1jB2fy?ocid=finance-verthp-feeds

For this reason alone, they are on the losing side of the competition if they have to put it back live.
Well, people that want to restart it think that its easier to relaunch failed exchange that starting from scratch. Keep in mind that by the time FTX relaunches people who got their money stuck there will probably get large portion of their money back and add on that agressive marketing campaign, people's tendency to orget about bad things and in a few years FTX might be again one of the most popular crypto exchanges. That's just how things work in crypto.
634  Economy / Exchanges / Re: FTX Exchange might be brought back online - Would you use it again? on: November 14, 2023, 06:13:37 PM
How can people ever possibly trust a crypto exchange again after it went bankrupt and went to hell? Also, how will the investors and celebrity advertisers ever trust FTX after the reputation damaged it caused all of them?
New people at the helm of FTX will probably push the narrative that FTX was a good exchange ruined by mismanagement and since person responsible is in jail and has nothing to do with FTX anymore they can now turn the new leaf and continue with business like previous scam never happened.

How can people ever possibly trust a crypto exchange again after it went bankrupt and went to hell? Also, how will the investors and celebrity advertisers ever trust FTX after the reputation damaged it caused all of them?
Low trading and withdrawal fees is all that is needed to get traders back. Regarding celebrity advertisers, they won't give a fuck as long as they are paid.

There's a reason that they went for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which allows them to reorganise the business as that's what their idea from the beginning.

How long has your account been registered with Bitcointalk?
What's the point of this topic? Its not like this information is hidden so you have to ask the others about date of their registration.

By the way, wasn't this locked yesterday? So please, lock it again as its completely pointless.
636  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Will it affect you in any way if Binance completely shuts down ? on: November 14, 2023, 04:49:18 PM
I fear that they have a complex list that may intersect with all CEXs, some DEXs, and many services. They have been on the market list for more than 5 years, and this will make them have access or influence over many projects and developers.
While they definitely have their fingers in many crypto projects, I doubt that they have investments in some of the biggest competitors like Coinbase.

Its true what you are saying though, in case Binance going down it would drag hundreds if not thousands of crypto companies, especially loads of shitcoins built on their BSC chain so if anything it would be sort of big market spring cleaning. I still wouldn't liek to see it happening, mainly because even if Binance goes down, people wouldn't learn a lesson and would still use centralized exchanges to store their crypto while market would be set few years back.
637  Economy / Reputation / Re: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=507936 on: November 14, 2023, 04:38:12 PM
I am coming back on this thread, as it seems that DarkStar_ became to be sort of active again. Maybe not in term of posts, but I see that he also merited some users recently, inside his loans thread.
What I don't understand is why he needs to say anything about leftover money. I mean, since that was signature campaign money and all signature campaign participants got paid for their work, why should we care what he does with the money, and why should he give us any explanation after all?

The way I see it, its between him and the person who hired him and gave him the money to run signature campaign.

@Rikafip. You are lucky you only watched it in your home with subtitles. I watched it in the cinema and I was scratching my head and telling myself that this movie is not for the big screen.
What was the issue? You couldn't understand the conversations without subtitles or something?

While I love going to cinema, the main reason I didn't watch Oppenheimer that way is because its simply too long for me to watch it that way. I just can't force myself to sit in cinema chair for 3 hours straight and for the same reason I didn't watch Killers of The Flower Moon which is even longer (almost 3 and a half hours).

Dear @Rikafip
I am finishing this month's overview as we speak so you can expect it either tonight or tomorrow at the latest.

I blame myself for making these last few overviews on time, instead slacking as usual so people don't expect it so early but I mostly blame fillippone because he published his overview too early, putting pressure on me.  Grin

Do they have internet in North Korea?
Of course they do, but its only available for a selected few.

Something definitely stinks in all this, and I would say that some suspicious games are involved, and I wouldn't be surprised if it were some money laundering schemes.
The same thought crossed my mind as well, but then again there must be an easier way to launder money other than faking hacks so I am inclined to believe that in thend end its all just a matter of incompetence.
