1201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase CEO Says SEC Told It To Delist Everything But Bitcoin: Report on: August 02, 2023, 08:28:18 PM

I am pretty sure Coinbase used to be a btc/usd only exchange and if they could do it in the past, they can do it now. The regulators will be happy, the bitcoiners will be  happy, the baldy will get to keep his business… win win win for everyone (everyone but shitcoiners)
Brian Armstrong definitely woulnd't be happy as altcoins make almost half of the Coinbase volume meaning he would lose shit load of profit if all people could trade there is bitcoin.

I mean, the fact that he decided to ignore SEC request and go to the court instead says how much it means to him/Coinbase.
1202  Local / Altcoins (Hrvatski) / Re: Altcoin novosti on: August 02, 2023, 08:09:45 PM
Naravno, bez takvih stvari nema smisla hodlati altcoine.

Ovako hodlam BTC i nesto malo ETH i boli me kurac za fluktuacije cijena.
1203  Local / Altcoins (Hrvatski) / Re: Altcoin novosti on: August 02, 2023, 01:40:04 PM

Bas si me morao tagati s takvim rezultatima  Roll Eyes

1204  Other / Meta / Re: [SUGGESTION] Multiple Users Self-Moderating A Thread. on: August 02, 2023, 10:45:06 AM
I can see this feature being useful in certain occasions, but since they are so rare I don't really think that theymos will want waste his time time implementing something like this. Especially since there are much more important things to implement, like 2fa for example.
1205  Local / Altcoins (Hrvatski) / Re: Altcoin novosti on: August 02, 2023, 10:37:12 AM

1207  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Dgfinex. Scam exchange. Ask you to send 50% of deposit value to withdraw. Avoid on: August 02, 2023, 06:12:43 AM
Fair enough. But it still doesn't answer the question how they find these sites and why they look in the wrong places. A simple search for 'best crypto exchange' or something could perhaps lead them to a CEX no one here likes, but at least it's not a scam site like the one mentioned in OP.
One of the possible scenarios is that person in question heard from someone that Digifinex is a good exchange, entered "Digifinex" in Google and instead of getting the real exchange at the top, fake one appeared via Google ads. I know a very experienced guy who lost $100k that way, as he entered phishing website, connected his Metamask and lost everything he got there.

If you are new in town and want to ask for directions, who are you going to ask? The group of 10 drunk skinhead guys playing with knifes and urinating publicly, or the nice couple sipping a coffee on the opposite street? Newbies approach the skinheads for some reason, not knowing/smelling the danger. I hope you understand my point.
Problem is that on the Internet those "drunk skinheads" can be disguised as a "nice couple". At least to those that are not very experienced and can be fooled easily.
1208  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Which CEX did you use and what are your reasons for adopting the exchange? on: August 01, 2023, 06:07:36 PM
To me I always try to use different exchange to have a good comparison of them all, there are lots of exchanges you can trade on.
I sure hope that you are not doing KYC on all those exchanges just for the sake of trying them as it practically became mandatory to do that in order to use any of the exchanges worth using.

I have a diametrically opposite tactic as I've been using bascially only one CEX in the last 5-6 years (except using Kucoin every once in a while but I stopped that since they introduced mandatory KYC) since I don't like to experiment much and like to stick with what works (in my case its Binance).

Get a remote job where you work your ass off 11 months a year with no free weekends so you can enjoy 1 month per year. Not sure if it is the best tradeoff and I might consider job with more light work load as I am not getting any younger. Tongue

Now that UEFA qualifications are getting into 2nd/3rd round I hope we will continue to get "normal" questions with no odd sports so we don't have to Google too much.
1210  Other / Meta / Re: re: "how to earn merit" topics on: August 01, 2023, 03:36:50 PM
In my opinion, opening threads just to make fun of newbies makes less sense than newbies trying to learn how to use the forum through building their own guides.
Thing is, "newbies" that open threads like OP mentioned ain't newbies at all but instead alt accounts that are trying to farm the merit by a most cheap and obvious way and those are the only ones that are getting ridiculed around here. Legit newbies that are asking legit newbie questions usually won't have any issues at all around here.

Btw, love the username  Wink
1211  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Dgfinex. Scam exchange. Ask you to send 50% of deposit value to withdraw. Avoid on: August 01, 2023, 09:10:51 AM
Where do they find such bullshit scam sites and not notice anything wrong?
I can imagine someone who never used another exchange falling for this quite easily as they simply have no point of reference nor do they know how exchanges work. Luckily for scammers, there is a constant influx of new people who have no clue how these things work.

Sometimes you will wonder how greedy and how newbies' minds work despite of so many red flags there are, the worst case is they will always ask if the site is scam or not after depositing a huge  (although "huge" is debatable depends on the victim's status) money into it.
I don't think that its always matter of greedines but often these kind of things are caused by pure ignorance. There are many people who are gullible and were never scamemd on the internet which makes them a perfect target for experienced scammers.

So this round of questions was much less work to research because there are only five questions. I'm on a vacation so I didn't have time to do the proper research.
That was exactly my thought when I saw the questions: finally a round where I bascially don't have to research anything which suits me perfectly since I am on holiday for the rest of the month.

After first 3 wins in league, my form turned to shit so I could really use the win in the cup to change the form.

Earning merit is really hard this days , since there are lots of things they consider for post to be meritable,
Generally speaking, earning merits has been easier than ever. Looking at your post history, I see that you are active mainly in your local (Phillippines) board, which is seriously undermerited for quite some time and that probably gives you impression that getting merit is hard.

Btw, we have a topic in Reputation section made specifically for this type of topic that you opened Announce your rank up, merit or any achievements that makes you feel great

1214  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kucoin to introduce mandatory KYC on: August 01, 2023, 08:37:25 AM
Wow I just saw the news. Kucoin was probably the only fairly big and popular exchange that wasn't enforcing KYC on its users and now they are gone too.
There are still few that kinda meet those criteria like OkX and Mexc, but the list of solid exchanges with no mandatory KYC is getting shorter as we speak.

People should learn to use decentralized exchanges like bisq asap. (don't waste your time on the pseudo/fake decentralized exchanges) R.I.P. Kucoin it was a good ride.
Problem with Bisq is that it is only good if you want to buy/sell smaller amounts of bitcoin and if you are not in a hurry. Then again, if more people start using it that woulnd't be a such a big problem anymore and it would be possible to do bigger trades faster without loosing too much money while doing that.

Trust wallet is a cold storage wallet but not an open source wallet,
Trust wallet is not a cold storage wallet but instead hot wallet that shouldn't be used for anyting other than storing few hundreds of dollars worth of crypto. At least that's how I am treating my hot wallet.
1216  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Dgfinex. Scam exchange. Ask you to send 50% of deposit value to withdraw. Avoid on: July 31, 2023, 03:16:38 PM
They are scam exchange. Try to impersonate Digifinex exchange.
If they are indeed trying to impersonate Digifinex, they are doing terrible job because their landing page doesn't even look similar to them.

A friend of my friend was scammed. She deposited $10,000 and was asked to send 50% of that ($5,000) to withdraw. She asked my friend who asked me about that exchange is scam or legit. I did not know about the exchange but I told her immediately it is scam before I checked that website.
How did she even found out about them? Was it some "friend" recommending her, or it was Google ads?

1217  Economy / Exchanges / Re: All cryptocurrency are security asset except bitcoin - SEC on: July 31, 2023, 06:04:11 AM
As for me, any coin that has ICO, IEO or IDO are securities. Also any coin that is using proof of stake are securities. SEC needs to come up with a clear definition.
That makes sense, but problem is that some that meet the criteria you mentioned (like Ethereum forum example) are not seeing as security by SEC while some very similar (at least from what I know about those alts) like Solana or Cardano are seeing as security.

Why will bitcoin be labelled unsafe and other cryptocurrencies termed as security assets? In reality, we know that bitcoin is the security cryptocurrency, whilst others are not. This simply shows how hard the government is working to make the use of bitcoin difficult for users in that country.
Its actually the opposite and in this case SEC (or more exactly Gary Gensler) is on the side of Bitcoin by claiming that it's not a security (btw being/not being security has nothing to do with being safe/unsafe), unlike all other altcoins.

Problem is that SEC doesn't have a very clear criteria how is something determined to be a security or not.

1219  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can you use Bitcoin to pay everything online? on: July 30, 2023, 04:24:08 PM
It's no longer the 20 century anymore, Uber is just as old as Bitcoin, Nokia was selling the 5320 in the hundreds of millions,  Stripe didn't exist, and neither was Instagram which I really don't think was that much of a pace forward at all. Things change fast these days, how many were using mobile banking in 2009? We're at 3 billion now!
None of these things is as revolutionary as Bitcoin is and none of them goes against the current system and has so many enemies as Bitcoin has. Given all that, I don't think Bitcoin surprised anyone's (including Satoshi) wildest expectations.

my question is why BTC transaction is so slow while ETH almost instantly !!
That's probably because you set the fee too low. From what i can see on https://mempool.space/, fees are currently low so you shoulnd'thave any issues.

to BTC is the best crypto ever but its slow now
The best cryptocurrency is not decided by how fast trasnactions are.

im using Trust wallet ( not sure if this is relevant )
Someone will correct me if I amw wrong, but I doubt that you can set the fee manually using Trust wallet whihc could explain your transactyions being slow.
