So it looks like Binance will no longer be offering their card to residents of Latin America and the Middle East. The users will have until the 21st of September when the cards stop working.
Seems like that's not all as according to Bloomberg, Visa stopped issuing new Binance debit cards for their users in Europe since July and if that's true and something doesn't change I will have to look for another crypto debit cards in a few months when current one expires.

1083  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Telegram and it's misue for scammers. on: August 25, 2023, 04:41:31 PM
I think the thing that could help people from getting scammed is your privacy settings:
I would add one more thing and that is to disable automatic download of files whihc is for stupid reason enabled by default.

I would also imagine that scammers don't want to spend any money, so maybe an animated avatar + custom emoji using Telegram Premium would help you protect the users of your channel to a certain degree.
That's actually a pretty good advice for those that are doing anything more serious on Telegram as scammers will unlikely spend $5 dollars.

Another common scamming technique that is aimed at telegram admins is when scammers pretend to be employer of the said admin, asking him for quick loan that he will later return. Years ago I was TG admin for some shitcoin and "CEOs" contacted me, asking me for some money as they needed it asap and they would return it to me in a few hours. What they obviously forgot (or hoped that I will forget) is that I already had the chat with the CEO so it was easy to realize that those are not the real accounts (beside obviously not having the same username).

Another trick that scammers use is when they pretend to be someone who has small "L" or capital "I" in their username as those letters look very similar on Telegram.
1084  Other / Meta / Re: cryptofrka's Merit Source application - gambling boards on: August 25, 2023, 01:25:29 PM
If you really think the gambling board is as ethical as other boards this forum contains, you're out of touch with basic ethics.
Lol, guy that is willing to promote something that he thinks is highly unethical and exploitative for a little bit of bitcoin will teach us about ethics.  Cheesy
1085  Other / Meta / Re: Request: Disable merits in the Wall Observer thread on: August 25, 2023, 01:16:48 PM
I think a merit source should uphold a higher standard regardless of which smerits they use. As opposed to non-source merit senders who can do almost whatever they please with their earned smerits.
Imho, even us non merit sources should have some standard because if I tend to merit certain type of shitposts, that can only encourage more members to do more of those as that's what those lemmings tend to do.

I find it interesting that 24 members voted "Yes" (31 voted "No", myself included) while (afaik) no one said so in this thread.
1086  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Croatian League - Hrvatska nogometna liga on: August 25, 2023, 06:40:35 AM
He played very well (at least at the World cup in Russia), but I don't remember seeing him after that World cup. I guess he was one of the players that said goodbye to the national team after that silver medal.
Yeah he retired after Russia, wanting to give younger guys like Livakovic a chance.

I always like to think that he retired so early because the guy before him (Pletikosa) stayed in our national team for at least few years too long while Subasic was obviously a better goalkeeper than him at that point (I remember Pletikosa being crap in the WC in Brazil) but since there's the thing called hierarchy in our national team, Subasic had to wait for him to retire. So maybe he didn't want to do the same thing.
1087  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Croatian League - Hrvatska nogometna liga on: August 25, 2023, 06:17:00 AM
I want to ask Croatian league regulars here his success chance at Fenerbahce because of knowing only his national team performance.
You got yourself a very good goalkeeper, especially at that price. He has some weaknesses though (if not he would be at the top club) like crosses but overall you will probably be satisfied with him.

Quote from: slackovic link=topic=5419496.msg62742848#msg62742848
Anyhow, he is a great goalkeeper and I think that both of medals from the World cups Croatia got thanks to his great saves.
Subasic was our goalkeeper in Russia, not Livakovic. I mean he was there too but iirc he didn't enter any of the games there.
1088  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: August 25, 2023, 05:41:43 AM

1090  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Croatian League - Hrvatska nogometna liga on: August 24, 2023, 02:48:13 PM
I'm sure that Rijeka fans are outraged by the behavior of Jakirović. He left them just before the most important game of the season. But he also took his whole staff with him (at least it's what I have read in the news yesterday).
There is one guy who refused to go to Dinamo and that's Djalovic, Jakirovic's assistant.

On another note, it looks like Dinamo goalkeeper Livaković played his last game in Athens on Saturday. The rumors are that the management tried to persuade him into staying until after the game against Sparta, but could not. Dinamo even tried to persuade him to stay until winter with a raise, but he didn't want to. The rumor is that he will sign for Fenerbahce
Livakovic is already in Istanbul so that's done deal, and it looks like tonight's game vs Sparta will be the last game for Ivanusec who is going to Feyenoord for 10M euro. With all these Dinamo players gone, I don't think that Hajduk will have a better chance to win championship soon.

Now Jakirović needs to decide who will be his successor - Nevistić or Zagorac.
My guess is Nevistic as they didn't pay Lokomotiva 3 million for nothing.

but I can tell you that most of the people who were loyal to the brothers were expelled from the club, although the question arises whether there is some kind of financial weight from the past that still gives the brothers the opportunity to influence some decisions.
I don't think that power struggle is over yet and Mamic probably still has some chance to come back. This current situation reminds me of Harry Potter where Mamic is Voldemort in this scenario.  Cheesy
1091  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ledger, safe or not? on: August 24, 2023, 02:29:41 PM
If you have a Ledger, just don't use Ledger Live — that itself removes a good chunk of the uncertainty risk.
While I do agree that Ledger Live is a shit app that shouldn't be used for more than its needed, isn't it open souce and same goes for those coin apps meaning ppl probably tested it?. The main problem with Ledger is that its firmware is closed source and imho that's way more dangerous because you can't simply avoid it like you can Ledger Live.

@OP Ledger  owes is market dominance thanks to the fact that at the time they launched their HW there was no many competitions like it is now so people simply buy it by innertion but luckily nowadays there are many quality options that doesn't cost a fortune so there's no need really to get Ledger if you want a safe wallet to store your bitcoin.

1092  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Whirlwind.money | ⚡No Fee⚡ | Ultimate Privacy | Anonymity Mining 12% APR🔥 on: August 24, 2023, 02:17:51 PM
Now I saw one interesting news posted few days ago about recently arrested Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm, while fellow co-founder Roman Semenov remains at large, and he is added to the list of US sanctioned individuals.
It's not impossible to think there was some connection with whirlwind, and this could be one of the reasons for their/his absence and for service not working anymore.
https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/tornado-cash-founders-charged-money-laundering-and-sanctions-violations
The same thought crossed my mind when I saw that news since I also read about similarities between ww and Tornado, but would those who are on the run or are connected to those who are on the run start another mixer service instead of laying low for some time until things cool off?

That seems like a common sense to me, then again common sense is not so common.
1093  Other / Meta / Re: Request: Disable merits in the Wall Observer thread on: August 24, 2023, 02:13:39 PM
My guess is that they don't give it much thought. Many of them have accumulated a lot of Bitcoin for a long time, notice that few of them participate in signature campaigns and 90% or more of what they write is in the WO thread, so I don't think they give it more importance than clicking for a like on Instagram or Facebook.
You are probably right, so maybe those who are annoyed with all those merit farming account should raise awaraness inside WO thread (if it hasn't been done already) so maybe people will stop meriting them.

Giving merit in WO should be equaled to giving merit for a bounty report Cheesy
Not all WO posts are equal (some are actually great), unlike bounty reports.

And after that, if the behavior isn't stopped perhaps DT members can come up with a plan of action--or not.
I don't know what DT members could do to try stop that, without abusing trust system.
1094  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SUPERSAIAN failed to refund (Not refunding) on: August 24, 2023, 07:23:16 AM
Are we sure that he is using notifications? Such a high ranked member should have them activated via telegram bots and be aware of the mentions in the forum, but who knows, maybe he missed them?
It can be seen in the first post that Royse also sent him a PM 3 days ago so not having Telegram bot is not a valid excuse for a not knowing that he is supposed to send money back.

Based form his post history, this is guy is very active and posts regularly so there's no way that he doesn't notice PM meaning he just doesn't give a fuck. Seems illogical to basically ruin high ranking account over 0.003 BTC but people tend to do stupid things.
1095  Other / Meta / Re: Request: Disable merits in the Wall Observer thread on: August 24, 2023, 06:59:25 AM
The simple solution to the problem is to disable the meriting of WO posts. Much like how signatures were disabled in that thread, it will discourage spammers from flooding the thread.
What would also discourage that kind of behaviour is people not meriting those kind of posts as its not that hard at all to differentiate a legit one from merit fishing if you spend some time there (or at any other board/topic).

My question is, why regulars there are not more selective when meriting as its in their best interest in order to keep the thread clean from that thrash.
1096  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are they safe for us? and we should enjoy them? on: August 24, 2023, 06:49:44 AM
Premium accounts offer up to 5 users If you're the only one going to use it better rent those other accounts
With Netflix bascially banning account sharing (at least here in Europe) I don't think that will be possible to do anymore.

@Z_MBFM rule of thumb: if some offer is too good to be true, it usually means that its a scam. With that being said, I wouldn't never buy an important piece of software (like Windows key) from some dodgy website as I want everything to work perfectly and in general I avoid those ridicolous 70% "discounts" as that means that there is some catch.
1097  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: i'm aware to do kyc on Crypto project on: August 24, 2023, 06:34:40 AM
Arent IDOs made on exchanges like Bybit, and Kucoin?
There are also so called "launchapds" like (for example Enjinstarter, BSCPad etc) where majority of altcoin projects usually conduct their IDOs.

My rule is to pretty much only submit AML/KYC when totally necessary. If my memory serves me right, the only crypto-related platform that I submitted AML/KYC is Binance simply because I really need(liquidity is quite high) their P2P platform.
Same here, I only went through KYC on Binance and it was only because I had to do it. What happened is that I lost access to 2FA (my phone suddendly died) while I couldn't find recovery code and it happened at the worst possible moment as I just sent some crypto there so it was either to forget about the money or go through KYC and I opted for latter as the amount was quite big.

Grin

1099  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: August 23, 2023, 04:45:43 PM
The percentage of posts made on local boards to the total post is instead more or less stable, and this is a good sign!
An interesting chart, and expected in terms of local boards following forum in general. What's noticeable though is that local boards are more prone to sudden changes in the ratio which is kinda expected too as all you need is few local board merit sources being less active to mess up the ratio.

This is awesome. Thank you @Rikafip great work. I was not thinking that Nigeria Local Board would take 5th post per local board, and "Active Members in each local board, Nigeria took 3rd with 121
Tbh I expected to see Nigerian board climbing up the ladder once you got the local board because its obvious how many active members you have. Who knows, if you continue like that maybe one day you'll even challenge Russian board that has been by far the most active local board (at least since I started making these overviews 3 and a half years ago).

We are having a few problems on the Italian board: we had a few “bad motnhs” and apparently we are not able to get back to our usual levels, as many active poster simply are now less active and the newcomers weren't able to get the flow going.
If its any consolation, majority of local boards have the same issues so you are not alone there, just compare the numbers from two years ago and from the latest overview.
1100  Other / Meta / Re: cryptofrka's Merit Source application - gambling boards on: August 23, 2023, 01:35:36 PM
I think that its obvious for anyone that ever visited gambling board that there's not enough merit being circulated there so I am glad to see that you finally decided to make an application. Good luck with it and hopefully theymos approves it eventually.

Can you please quote the post instead of just sharing the links? That's how everyone applies and that's what theymos asked to. It will be easier for him to judge as right now, theymos has to click all the links to check out the posts.
There's no need to quote the posts, its perfectly fine the way he did it as there are at least two examples where members applied in exactly that way and their applications were approved meaning theymos didn't mind: Ratimov merit source application and dkbit98 merit source application.
