1101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Potential Impact of Binance Collapse on Bitcoin ($BTC) Price on: August 23, 2023, 09:13:15 AM
The second effect (positive in the long term): the collapse of Binance Crypto Octopus will lead to a decline in centralization and a large return of decentralization to the market, as we know Binance is not only an exchange, but rather a large octopus with arms in all Crypto services, the collapse of Binance will lead to the collapse of this Central system and provide the opportunity for other companies to enter the field and this leads to diversification and increased decentralization. So I think this will be good for Crypto in the long run.
I don't think that people would learn anything from the eventual Binance collapse, like they didn't learn much (or anything) from previous big centralized exchanges collapse. I know people that lost money in Mt.Gox, FTX, Celsius and not a single one of them went 100% DEX and they still mainly use centralized exchanges while some of them even hold large amounts of money for a tiny staking profit. The only one who would really benefit from Binance going down are other centralized exchanges who would get their users and added bonus would be death of bunch of shitcoins.

As for the OP question, there would definitely be a short term impact on BTC price but it would eventually recover and continue with business as usual.
1102  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2023/24 | Prelim Qualifiers on: August 23, 2023, 08:57:24 AM
Dinamo Zagreb out of the competition, in part due to the incident with their fans in Greece. I thought they had a solid enough squad (and a decent draw) to make CL groups. I see they sold Sutalo to Ajax for $20 mln the other day. Europa League it is then...
While I do agree that incident in Athens didn't help, they still weren't really favorites against AEK (at least us Dinamo fans didn't think that) and at best chances were 50/50 and draw wasn't good either as they could have gotten weaker teams than AEK.

Regarding Europa League, lets's not get ahead of ourselves as beside Sutalo, Dinamo might be without Livakovic as well as its just a matter of day before he goes to Fenerbahce and then there are still Ivanusec and Petkovic who might leave too. Positives are that new coach is supposed to be an upgrade over Biscan but it will take some time before we see a real impact. Anyway, I expect a close games vs Sparta Prague. Some fans wouldn't even mind Conference League as money isn't much worse while oponnents are weaker which means more chance to get some points for UEFA coefficient.
1103  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitget will introduce mandatory KYC from September 1st on: August 23, 2023, 08:35:36 AM
The first service I ever see that mentions Catalonia, like for god's sake, why not Galicia or Basque also?
Maybe they are big fans of Real Madrid so they don't want those pesky Barcelona fans as their users.  Tongue

But, let's ignore that cause ......what the **** is " Knights of Malta", did I travel back in time by going circling half the globe and it's 1571?
Lol, had to google that shit but at least I learned something new. It seems like that order still exists but its not like that makes any more sense.

I bet there will be no centralized exchange that will operate with a tag name of No-KYC before 2024. Even after all the KYC restrictions the DEX liquidity level is nowhere comparable to a centralized exchange.
While situation doesn't look good and it will be only worse, I don't think that we will end up without any non-KYC exchanges so soon as there will still be those that won't require that. The maybe won't offer as many features like those major ones but you will still be able to exchange the currencies.
1104  Other / Meta / Re: [List]Merit Source pipeline applications (New and Old) on: August 23, 2023, 06:16:11 AM
It has been a long time since theymos has accepted a merit source application if I'm correct. So, I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon.
Its been a little bit more than a 2 years (July 2021) since theymos introduced new merit sources so maybe exactky that way we might get new ones sooner than later but I think that mainly depends on the amount of merit shared, which is currently pretty good.

Please check the merit information from @mikeywith - are you sure the application has not been approved?
Yeah he has been approved but I guess OP simply checked status of merit source application (and mikey didn't lock his or tagged it as accepted) and their stats to verify whether they became merit sources or not.
1105  Economy / Reputation / Re: Hal Finney's Last Post on Bitcointalk on: August 22, 2023, 03:02:02 PM
Do you mean that Hal was not buried?
Nope. After his death he was cryogenically freeezed by cryogenics company (Alcor Life Extension Foundation) with the hope that one day they might be able to revive him and cure of ALS and his wife plans to do the same thing.
1106  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Searching for New Crypto Debit Card on: August 22, 2023, 02:57:03 PM
I wanted to sugget you Binance Visa, but then I saw that you are from US so that's not doable. If you don't mind doing KYC, you might wanna check Coinbase debit card. Few of my clsoe friends have been using it for some time and I don't remember them ever having an issue.

And I'm thinking about giving any cheap one a try anytime soon, but only if shipping it down to my country Nigeria won't be expensive.
Shipping cost is not a problem, but instead the fact that unfortunately (afaik) neither Binance Or Coinbase cards afe available in Nigeria.

1108  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: New Ninjastic.space: which features would you like to see? on: August 22, 2023, 02:39:32 PM
Any chance to add ranks of users when looking at the list of users that were active in certian topic/board?

Also, would it be doable to show how many members of each rank was active in the threads/boards etc? I am asking because I would like to add that info in my brief monthly local boards overview and I don't know anyone who could provide such thing.

Regarding the merit tab, why not show the 4 month charts instead of 3, since 4 months period becamse kind of standard on bitcointalk (at least when applying for signature campaign).

Anyway, looking forwward to see the new version!
1109  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: August 22, 2023, 02:30:40 PM
1110  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: August 22, 2023, 07:09:45 AM

1111  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Whirlwind.money | ⚡No Fee⚡ | Ultimate Privacy | Anonymity Mining 12% APR🔥 on: August 22, 2023, 04:02:36 AM

Speaking of this, I think the probability of "something bad has happened to the person who runs WW rather than this being a scam" has now increased, I mean if this was a straight-out scam, why wouldn't they fix the clear net, and made a small transfer from the multisig address to make things look 'normal' so they can scam more people?, I don't think a scammer will have enough and decide they don't want to scam anymore -- after all, they could have taken down the main server too if they want to stop scamming!.

There is something strange about this mixer, as I said, it doesn't really matter much to the users who lost funds, because whether the person behind the mixer was a scammer or a dead man -- the results are the same, but knowing for sure what actually happened would be good.
While  I do agree that this is a weird case and that something is off, if indeed something happened to the person behind ww and that's what caused all this, wouldn't they communicate it with Hhampuz rather than letting people think they exit scammed?
1112  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: August 21, 2023, 07:56:26 PM

Link [OPEN] eXch.cx - Automatic Exchange | Sig Campaign | Up to 0.0036 BTC/W

Link: Moneypot.com - Crash with the Lowest House Edge! | Signature Campaign

Legendary: $3.00 per post up to 25 posts each week.
Hero: $2.60 per post up to 25 posts each week.
Sr. Member: $2.20 per post up to 25 posts each week.
Full Member: $1.60 per post up to 25 posts each week.

1117  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Croatian League - Hrvatska nogometna liga on: August 21, 2023, 02:51:07 PM
When the famous Kjuno Jurcic Grin returns, then we will know that Dinamo has reached rock bottom.
Haha yeah, but I think that we might be closer to Jurcic coming back than we think. Maybe if Jakirovic doesn't work out. Cheesy

EDIT: Rikafip it looks like the runoes weren't true. I just saw the news that Sergej Jakirovic is appointed as the new Dinamo coach. That was really fast.
Yep, just saw it and was about to share the news. I thought that I would be happier that Dinamo got Jakirovic who was probably the best choice, but on the other hand when I think about it, it kinda sucks for Rijeka to lose the coach that way, at the start of the season and before their important Conference League qualifiers games vs Lille.

From what I could notice on other forums, Rijeka fans are gutted by Sergej's move (I would be too if I was Rijeka fan) but what they have to understand is that is hard to resist Dinamo call and much bigger salary. Also, there are rumours that Dinamo appointing him is a sign that Mamic brothers still have the last call in Dinamo which is not a good news.
1118  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Croatian League - Hrvatska nogometna liga on: August 21, 2023, 01:16:24 PM
We will see how long the new management will have patience with Biscan. If they lose against Sparta Prague, I think they will look for another coach.
Biscan won't have a chance to prove himself against Sparta Prague as he has been sacked today and I would say good riddance, the only problem is that person who is rumoured to replace him (Goran Tomic) is not much better either.

The one I would like to replace him is Sergej Jakirovic who is doing a very good job in Rijeka and before that in Zrinjski but for some reason he is not mentioned as a choice at the moment.
1119  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Croatian League - Hrvatska nogometna liga on: August 21, 2023, 10:05:17 AM
Prior to the start of new season I don't think that anyone expected this, even the most die hard hajduk fans: Hajduk Split at the top of the table with 8 points ahead of Dinamo Zagreb (they have one game less though) with latter only getting 4 points from 3 games.

Given the circumstances in Dinamo (Sutalo just left, Livakovic just a matter of day and possibly Ivanusec and Petkovic, Biscan being incompetent) I think that its now or never for Hajduk to finally win the championship after 18-19 years of waiting.

1120  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitget will introduce mandatory KYC from September 1st on: August 21, 2023, 09:44:36 AM
and I also liked the fact that there you can create 50 different addresses for each cryptocurrency from one account.
Is that the CEX that you recently used for DAI-BTC exchange?  Grin

Secure in what way? I don't feel threatened when I trade without KYC. I simply don't understand this line.
Of course you don't, that's just some bullshit wording that exchanges use to make people more willing to do KYC.
