1281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who Buys Bitcoin When The Price is 100k$? on: July 12, 2023, 02:36:31 PM
There are several groups of people will buy BTC when it reaches $100k and beyond:

1st group are those who are still in denial and that BItcoin is here to stay, they think of it as a ponzi etc but once we reach that price, many will change their opinion, like it happened in the past.

2nd group are those who think current price is too high and are waiting for BTC to drop more, but in reality they are really afraid to buy during bear and instead they will invest at the peak of bull when FOMO is the strongest. I know load of those who didn't want to buy from me when I had to sell some BTC @~10k, but where asking to buy once we reach $50k.  Cheesy

3rd group of people are those who are doing DCA on the regular basis and will keep buying BTC no matter the price. I fall into this group as I've been doing DCA for a couple of years now and my plan is to continue doing so when/if bitcoin reaches that barrier since it proved to be a very effective investment method,
1282  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How I waste bitcoin on: July 12, 2023, 02:18:21 PM
The Op is no doubt a liar and I kind of wonder why he came up with this cook and bull story.
I think that its pretty obvious he made that bullshit story for the sole purpose of merit fishing. He though that members will feel sorry for him losing hundreds of bitcoins and that they will sen few merits his way to ease that pain.

Luckily, members got used to recognize bs stories in Beginners & Help section so such obvious merit farmers are not as successful as they used to be.

This also means we now sort of know rules of the game so maybe more cricket questions in the BSFL future  Grin

Dear God please no. Like I am not struggling enough with Dota, now we may get more of another thing that I have no clue about. I sure hope you and cryptofrka don';t plan to attend more of those "exotic" sports in the future. Cheesy
1284  Economy / Reputation / Re: Someone Loan using My Account on: July 12, 2023, 06:30:45 AM
@shasan, with all due respect, to what extent are you responsible for this tragedy?  Sure, Peanutswar didn't secure his account, but what efforts did you take to make sure the loan you were issuing was going to the same person that built that account?
Tbh, I am surprised that this hasn't happened earlier (or maybe it did?) since he doesn't ask for signed message like other lenders are doing, which I thought is a standard here.

What's weird to me in all this is that even after this has happened, he continues to give loans without taking extra measures so something like this doesn't happen again. He can of course do his business as he sees fit, but imo that's just unnecessary risk.
1285  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: I got scammed by Freewallet.org for 120000 USDT TRC20. SCAM alert!  Don't use th on: July 12, 2023, 06:11:52 AM
Even I agree to pass the verification process because my money is totally clean, but in order to pass verification, you need to enable 2FA authentication. Then I try to enable it in my account. Google Authenticator gives me the code, and Freewallet says it is the wrong one. So they made everything so that you couldn't restore your funds.
Have you contacted the support regarding this issue, that you keep getting "false" code, and if yes what did they say?

I am ready to invest money in that case in order to make their lives harder. Can you propose a legitimate law firm that can take care of that situation?
If you want to go that route, you will have to find a lawyer in Estonia as that's where their company is incorporated. Other than that, I would simply try to pressure them over social media and hope for the best.

What amazes me is that fake that you missed out the hundreds of negative reviews about them only and immediately concluded that the wallet was good.
I mean, they do have a profile in this forum. See the negative feedback on their profile yourself - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=1177176
Problem is, when you type in Google "is Freewallet good/secure wallet" (that's probably what majority of people write), you won't get bad reviews, and that's why many end up using them. What I am surprised though is the fact that OP used custodial wallet for such a huge amount of money.

At one point, they even blocked Elon Musk's account. He had to tweet about it to be unlocked.
That just proves that even Elon thought that Freewallet is legit.
1286  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Mjesečna Analiza za Hrvatsku Lokalnu Zajednicu (Bitcointalk Croatian) on: July 11, 2023, 02:27:12 PM

1287  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I think it's time to leave Binance, any alternatives? on: July 11, 2023, 02:12:11 PM
Unless you are trading more than $1-$10m, liquidity on dexes and bridges isn not an issue for the average user.
Well, you are the one who asked why use centralized exchanges and I told you that there is a certain group of people (mainly pro traders) who simply have no options if they want to do their job as efficiently as possible.

Hopefully that changes in the future and DEX will be able to offer to those type of users everything CEX can, but until then I don't see them losing popularity.

1288  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Mjesečna Analiza za Hrvatsku Lokalnu Zajednicu (Bitcointalk Croatian) on: July 10, 2023, 05:19:40 PM

1289  Other / Meta / Re: Forum having issues? on: July 10, 2023, 02:32:20 PM
Now the situation become even worse than it was last day. While I browse the forum each several seconds I have to pass captcha. And it takes long to wait for a checkbox. So it is not impossible, but really annoying because takes lot of time for nothing. Argh! Angry
For me forum has been working without any issues whole day today, both on my computer and mobile phone and on both mobile network and fiber and its really weird that some are stilll having so many issues while some like me not. Anyway, hopefully it gets resolved soon as I know how annoying this situation is.

The only problem I have is with telegram notification bot as I am not getting notifications at all since last night.
1290  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I think it's time to leave Binance, any alternatives? on: July 10, 2023, 08:07:55 AM
Why still use Binance or Coinbase during this uncertainty...why use them at all when centralized exchanges have proven to be dangerous time and time again?
Because active traders don't really have other options. Then again, traders don't use centralized exchange as their cold storage and instead they have only a smaller part of their portfolio there and they usually understand the risks involved while that's not the case with an average crypto enthusiast and that's where problems start.

Why not use Peer to Peer marketplaces like HodlHodl and AgoraDesk for your fiat <> crypto needs, and decentralized exchanges/bridges for on-chain movements? You retain privacy, custody and gain exposure to data oracles instead of centralized price data. Risk and security is much more in your control.
Decentralized exchanges simply don't have enough liquidity and certain tools (like cross leverage) needed for speculators so they are not suitable for all users.
1291  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Novosti on: July 10, 2023, 07:48:35 AM

1292  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Mjesečna Analiza za Hrvatsku Lokalnu Zajednicu (Bitcointalk Croatian) on: July 10, 2023, 07:41:48 AM

1293  Other / Meta / Re: Forum having issues? on: July 09, 2023, 12:18:35 PM
Yeah, I also have same issue since yesterday. Forum loads much slowe than it's supposed to load and I'm also getting Cloudflare verification before loading page sometimes.
Hm, I spent on the forum more time than usual yesterday and I had no issues whatsover but this morning it was really bad, I was barely able to leave a post. Anyway, it was annoying af.

I don't know if it's sorted for others, but for me everything is back to normal. Or its maybe only temporary improvement as some mentioned it happened to them.

Edit: it was only temporary improvement as at the moment I clicked to share this post, it started lagging again.
1294  Other / Meta / Forum having issues? on: July 09, 2023, 09:53:23 AM
Is anyone else having the same issue for the last hour or so? All the other pages are opening very fast but for some reason bitcointalk is extremely slow to the point of being barely usable.
1295  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: July 09, 2023, 08:45:14 AM
I presume the driver would be to see the Ranks of participants (posters) on a given local board.
Exactly.

So, at the beginning of the year I would like to see ranks of all members who wrote at leats one post during the last year, across local board. It is fairly easy to do if when making it for my own local board as we don't have that many active users and I know all of their ranks by heart, but in the case of making it across all local boards, this manul checking approach would take me too much time.

Perhaps TryNinja keeps/updates the profile data in his DB, and can add it to the output that generates the list of users (current available variables are {number} {username} {uid} {count}). That would make it easy to introduce current Rank into the derived information (*).
Yeah I will check with him, thnx.
1296  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: July 08, 2023, 04:07:01 PM
I think you always need merits, even if it's legendary.
The merits are the recognition that what the person says/does is useful for the readers of this community, whether that person is legendary or not.
Daniel91 is OP of our local thread where members can submit their good undermerited/unmerited posts and that thread has been pretty inactive for quite some time.

I think that in the last six months or so we had maybe 5-6 submissions and that's what he (probably) meant when he said that no one needs/wants merit anymore in our local board anymore as thread used to be way more active 3-4 years ago when me and other members were going through ranks. Its sort of unwritten rule in that topic not to submit your posts once you reach Legendary rank and since majority of us reached that and we don't have many new members, thread became inactive.
1297  Other / Meta / Re: Can we transfer sMerit from a banned account? on: July 08, 2023, 02:55:32 PM
Recently my old account got banned so I realized it was my mistake and I have learned from it. I assure you that I will not repeat such actions again.
You haven't learned much since you just publically admitted that you are ban evading whihc is against forum rules. Fyi, once you get banned here, that ban is applied for all your future accounts (If you get caught that is).

In my old account I had earned some Merit through my postings and now I would like to inquire if it is possible to transfer my sMerit to my new account. Is it legitimate if I proceed with this?
No, you can't send merit once banned. At least you shoulnd't be able to (I never personally tested that Tongue).

1298  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: July 08, 2023, 02:37:52 PM
Our local board had very good Merit/Post ratio in May, maybe we could do a bit better with activity but I am certainly not going to write more than I usually do for anything.
Considering the quality of our members and lack of spam and shitposts, I think that our merit/post ratio is finally where it should be, after years of struggling and being seriously undermerited.

On the Croatian local board, we actually have a situation where almost all members have reached the desired forum ranks and no one needs new merits.  Grin
Yeah, that is caused by lack of new members who are willing to go through ranks. Majority of new members come, leave few posts and then disappear until they have another questions.

This just gave me an idea to make another chart with forum ranks across local boards, but I am not sure how feasible that would be. Not sure that it would make sense to make it every month, but I think I might include it in the yearly overview, like I am doing for Croatian local board.

Now I just have to figure out from where to pull that data so I can actually make a chart. @DdmrDdmr (or anyone else) do you maybe have some idea?
1299  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Mjesečna Analiza za Hrvatsku Lokalnu Zajednicu (Bitcointalk Croatian) on: July 08, 2023, 02:16:39 PM

1300  Other / Meta / Re: Is it allowed to post in English in a Local Section on: July 08, 2023, 09:20:31 AM
But if to look at the posts in other languages made with automated translation, they're not as good. Sometimes mistakes left by translator make text unclear or understood wrongly. Automated translators are not so perfect for many languages, they let you understand main sense of a text, but not make it perfect with a perfect grammar.
Let's be honest, many people don't even know how to write properly in their own native language (or maybe they simply don't ncare to write properly) so when they put that text in Google translate, of course there will be all kind of mistakes. But if you write proper sentences without idioms and expressions native to your own langauge, Google will do a pretty decent job.

I heard from some people that ChatGPT does even better job at translating than Google but I haven't tested its translation capablities yet.
