"ERIC TRUMP ORDERED TO TESTIFY IN DADDY TRUMP’S FRAUD CASE BEFORE THE ELECTION
"Trump has built a pyramid scheme of public fraud. It's a taxpayer-backed cash grab.
"WHICH TRUMP WILL TAKE THE FALL FOR YEARS OF TAX FRAUD?"

Not sure where you're getting these headlines or if you're just making them up by yourself at this point. I really doubt that a news publication put out the words "to testify in Daddy Trump's Fraud Case..." Doesn't really make a lot of sense to me to be honest, but yeah.

What is the point of this thread anyway? Take tons of the bad headlines about Trump and just toss them in here with no links to the articles or any analysis.

The entire thing is robotic postings. A stack of messages , or here, headlines is assembled. Then they are set to post periodically. It's not a real thread with real people.

Ah I see.

Why even do this though? Like what's the point?

Do people think that they're going to be able to convince this weird niche of people online to change their vote to Biden, or maybe to just not go out and vote for Trump at all. Seems kinda dumb.

By mental illness I’m not referring to physical ailments as mentioned above. I’m talking about the crazy gender neutral creatures I see who are offended by pronouns.

Oh, my mistake, for I truly thought you were talking about neurobiological disorders akin to mental illness and not taking a potshot at the small percentage of those with sexual orientations not in alignment with your own. How awful that must be for you. Have you considered designating some sort of safe space for yourself when the going gets too tough?

In other news, the party of Family Values is going to have a rough rest of the week; possibly month, and year.

Rudy Giuliani Roasted for Reportedly Fondling Himself in Hotel Room During Sacha Baron Cohen 'Borat' Prank

Quote
"I only later realized it must have been Sacha Baron Cohen. I thought about all the people he previously fooled and I felt good about myself because he didn't get me..."

If this was the Republican party of the 90's pre Clinton scandal, and then the rest of the GOP having their sex scandals, I'd agree with the assumption that this may do anything. Though I think the GOP of this age has evolved to not really care about sex scandals. Depends on your level on the party and what you've said as a person. Which is an obvious part as these are still case by case.

In regards to Giuliani though, I think we all know that he is NOT a bible spewing conservative. Guy went through a pretty nasty divorce (maybe multiple) that was very public.

Can't wait for the movie to come out though, lol.

Just to step aside in regards to one of the examples you gave - robot lawn mower - is that something that people actually use? May be common in other countries, though I don't really think that's all too common in the US. Further, for that example I don't really know why knowing your garden structure and such would matter, that'll be on town files and such that people can probably access.

The other ones are TOTALLY fair concerns and people have to notice that they're giving all of their data away for no real reason other then -- it's EASIER FOR ME.

Totally not trying to nitpick the list, just curious on if that's common elsewhere in the world.

Why would he hide behind excuses? What is stopping him from releasing his tax returns while the audit is on-going?

There is absolutely nothing stopping anybody releasing their tax returns while the audit with the IRS is going on.
....

Yeah, that's you trying to push someone else into doing something.

You can ask nicely.

Naw, leftists would rather sue to get them, or outright steal them.

I'm guessing the reason you wouldn't want to release them during an audit is that the legal team / tax law team is interested in ensuring that the financial ramifications of the audit are as low as possible. If you are to release your tax returns to the public you risk pressure on the IRS to ensure that they make penalties as strict as possible.

Seems to be common practice for wealthier individuals to draw out their audits as long as possible, as that puts them in the best spot to benefit themselves financially.

All Presidents and Vice Presidents are subject to mandatory examinations by the IRS. So that has probably been a fun process over the years. Typically for Presidents only in politics auditing them was probably much easier, but auditing all of their businesses and such? Who knows if that's even on the table for the IRS.

Current IRS Commissioner, Charles Rettig, is a friend of the Trump admin and personally wrote an OP-ED in Forbes defending Trumps practice of not releasing his tax returns.

386  Other / Politics & Society / Re: EndSARs: The movement for police reformed as a result of police brutality in NiG on: October 21, 2020, 08:26:48 PM
The Nigerian government have handled the issue of the menace wreaked on Nigerians by members of the special anti-robbery squad (Sars) in a very poor manner, the youths and others have called for the end of that branch of the police force for many years now, but the government either changes their name, or tell the citizens they have reformed them, but at the end of all that, this brutal annex of the NPF still mete out severe brutality on Nigerians especially the youths with impunity.

The government have never seen a protest in Nigeria like the one ongoing right now, #Endsars is everywhere on the internet, and I'm very sure no matter which country you're in, you should have seen details about that it on the internet, especially Twitter, some days back CNN aired details about the protests as well. That being said, I'm of the opinion that if the president and his government fail to control the growing anger in the hearts of Nigerians, this protest could lead to a revolution, and it wouldn't just be #Endsars, but it would challenge the oppressive, corrupt and irresponsible government Nigerians have had since 1960 independence.

Bitcoin users are not left out in the brutality of this officers, mind you that, it has somewhat prevented mass adoption amongst the youths of this African giant, this officers with no search warrant, collects people's phones/devices orders them to open it and if they find anything, so much so a bitcoin wallet, you are going to be labeled a fraudster/scammer, the situation is as dire as that, as this protests continue in Nigeria, whichever way you can join in, even through a post on social media like many celebrities and footballers around the world have done, it will go a long way to end police brutality in Nigeria.

Do you know what amazes me about SARS? The intention of it was to deal with the massive criminal problems in the country - such as robberty, motor vehicle theft, kidnapping, and so on.

They've taken their problems that their county has and have amplified them through militarized policing that disregards the basic human rights of people. They've extorted their own people with their new found power and have terrorized innocent people who look different - maybe they have piercings, dyed hair, etc.

Like what the fuck? You try to fix a problem by becoming the problem?

Is it a fair take to say that I think both sides are attacking eachother on things that may actually not end up being as bad as they seem at all?

Seems like Team Trump is attacking Biden with the NYPost story about Hunter Biden using his fathers influence to make money for the two of them. Biden has obviously denied this story

Some on the left are pushing this story about Trump, and the Trump family, selling their influence to the Chinese and that Trump has this crazy Chinese bank account.

This is going to be an interesting next 2 weeks or so.
388  Other / Politics & Society / Re: French teacher beheded for anti-sharia teachings on: October 20, 2020, 03:26:35 AM
This whole story is REALLY horrible. Anti-Sharia teaching wasn't even something as horrible as like -- the teacher saying that Islam is a horrible religion or anything along those lines -- the teacher was teaching a lesson about freedom of expression in regards to civics. In that lesson, he showed his students cartoons from Charlie Hebdo which show cartoons of Muhammad which are blasphemous in the Islamic culture / religion.

Guy was trying to teach a lesson on civics and freedom of expression. He was killed for it. That's TRULY horrible. It's just tough to think of an answer forward for this.
389  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Jacinda Ardern New Zealand's prime minister on: October 20, 2020, 03:22:05 AM
Nobody here, to my knowledge, has mentioned the magnitude of this win as well. Ardern's party won 64 seats in parliament, a majority that will allow them to rule by themselves. This means that if they want to, they do not need to form an alliance among other parties and can simply do everything from within their own party and not have to give up on any of their beliefs to get the votes to form a government.

Just for reference, I think this is the first time this has happened since the new proportional voting system was established 24 years ago.

390  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US Elections 2020 - very self such moderated on: October 20, 2020, 03:18:08 AM
I honestly don't know how they would know to turn away voters at polling stations who have already submitted their ballot by mail. Hopefully somebody is in charge of keeping track of that shit.

Depends on the state. In some states they do have a near-real-time list of who requested mail-in ballots and who submitted them. If the mail-in vote hasn't arrived by then and you manage to cast a vote in person, your mail-in vote should be discarded when mail-ins are counted.

A large amount of states have this system rolled out to the public to, which is an amazing thing for people to be able to verify if their vote was counted and such. I think most states use the term ballot tracking, which is pretty much just allowing you to track your ballot in the states system to ensure that it was counted for voting.

Here's a list - https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/how-to-track-your-absentee-ballot-by-state

Problem is that I couldn't find a chart that I'd used before for this very purpose. I know a few states on here, like New York, allow absentee ballots to be tracked BUT ONLY for overseas voters.

Dumb to not have this system fully functioning everywhere.

Design of such documents requires juggling the locations of candidates on the form, to overcome the biases.

But it would not surprise me if they skipped the science stuff.

It appears to be very scientific - sorted alphabetically.

Would probably make more sense to put the two top parties on top though, right?

Then again your decision on who to vote for shouldn't change based on where they are on the ballot.

There's one big thing that I've come to notice regarding Trump about all of this. People forget that he is catering to what the Republican voters want to hear right now. The Republican voters think that the economy crumbling is the biggest thing to come from COVID, and they want the economy to open back up due to that. While Dem voters think that COVID is the biggest issue that our nation is facing at the moment.

I know I saw that somewhere, but I honestly just can't find the source right now. Probably pew research. I'll have to look around and edit this post once I find it.
392  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Presidential debates on: October 17, 2020, 12:36:26 AM
This is gonna hurt Trump's feelings:

Joe Biden's town hall on ABC averaged 14.1 million viewers on Thursday night, easily surpassing the Nielsen ratings for President Trump's town hall on NBC.

That alone was a result virtually no one in the TV business expected. And that's not even the most surprising part.

The Trump town hall was simulcast by two of NBC's cable channels, MSNBC and CNBC, but even when those channels are included in the total, Biden -- on only one network -- still prevailed.

The Trump town hall averaged 10.9 million viewers on the NBC broadcast network. On MSNBC, Trump reached 1.8 million viewers, and on CNBC, about 720,000 viewers. So Trump's gross audience across the three channels was 13.5 million, still fewer than Biden's audience on ABC alone.

As for the non-debate itself, Biden's was boring and Trump's was cringy, as expected. Biden completely fumbled a question about black voters and Trump failed to denounce QAnon because - yep, he doesn't know them LOL. I can't recall anything else of particular importance but I only watched like 20 minutes of each.

That's kinda the consensus among my friends that did watch it. Biden is boring, but there are some people who prefer the boring normalcy compared to Trumps attack filled night. Nothing wrong with liking either style of a townhall.

A better moderated debate would've been better and more informative. But yeah - we didn't do that. Instead we just let both candidates talk to tons of town hall people.... lol.

Maybe we'll see a 3rd debate?

One major problem IMHO is all the lying about what the other side will do or wants to do. These are getting to be pretty tired old memes trotted out over and over in every election cycle, and they really won't help move things forward.

Bolded above, pretty much inaccurate. If you check the sources and amounts of contributions to congressional and senate candidates, you will find most small business is to the Republican, and big business, labor unions, teachers unions and such contribute to Democrats.
[/quote]

Yeah I wasn't saying that small businesses donate to Democrats or anything along those lines. I was moreso saying that Republicans need to get out of the mindset of helping large businesses more often then they help small businesses. Things like lowering the corporate tax rate is great, but it does help big large profitable businesses moreso then small businesses which may be bringing out a small profit every year.

Taking another look at payroll taxes would help both large and small businesses alike. Deducting expenses more easily, making filing easier, etc.

Whoa, this is a real well thought out post here that I'd have to say I agree with.

I think the Republican party (not republican voters) has been fixated on the stock market which is not something that everyday people care about. Continuing to talk about how the market is reaching new highs is not something that people who lost their jobs in Pennsylvania, West Virgina, Michigan, etc. Stock prices going up doesn't change the fact that coal jobs are most likely gone, manufacturing too (esp auto), etc.

That doesn't even take into account Corona, which has killed so many peoples lives while the stock market is doing just fine.

But yes. It's the economy stupid. AND THE REAL ECONOMY, not the stock market.

At last someone else on the internet who gets it.

The stock market it not the economy.
Crap low paying jobs are not the same as skilled jobs / trade jobs.

And my favorite. Ignoring change and advancement because you don't like it does not mean that it's going away.

Just as something to know, this is not me saying that I'm a major democrat or something. I'd say that I agree with the Republicans on tax policy and such, probably lean more on the libertarian side of things for some policies as well.

But yes, I would totally agree with what I said before about the economy. Regular peoples incomes and jobs are not indicated well on the stock market for obvious reasons. Republicans have to start caring about small businesses in America and advocating for pro small business policies. Kinda disgusting that I have to listen to Joe Biden to hear him say things about small businesses and such.

But.... sigh... here we are.

But onto the lines of attack. I highly doubt Obamacare is going to be the reason that Trump losses Texas. I personally don't even subscribe to Trump losing Texas. Maybe in the future if the Republicans continue to lose ground to demographic changes in the area. Though I don't think it'll be enough for this cycle.

You can snip this if I'm wrong. I have tons of conflicting opinions on the election. LOL.

I think a lot comes back to the saying "it's the economy stupid" I'll add it's also about the money. There were another 900k +/- people filing for unemployment this week. A lot of people are seeing their jobs leaving and not coming back.

The people who were doing well, had $$$ in the bank and a secure job and skills to get another one are fine. But, there are a lot of people who are seeing their unemployment run out, having to worry about how they are going to pay for food and other things and accurately or not blaming the current administration.

I also said it a while back, with the changes to the SALT deduction there were a lot of people, outside of what people considered the "blue cities" with high taxes that took a big hit.

I have a good friend who has been a 100% Republican line voter over since 1988 voted 100% democratic in 2018 and is going to do it again in 2020. The entire community where he lives in a solid red state is now blue and that says something. Why? because it's all large private land owners. Even at dirt cheap property tax rates, due to the large plots of land they all own it was still a big number they they could write off. Now they can't and it hurt. $5 an acre for unimproved land in taxes is nothing. Until every plot is miles and miles on each side. The surrounding area also used to be red was purple in 2018, going to be interesting to see how 2020 turns out there.

Just my view.

398  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ivanka Trump Implicated in NY Times Published Tax Scandal on: October 15, 2020, 09:54:23 PM
...

Wealthy clients, like Trump, make it hard for the IRS as they can also employ fat cat tax lawyers to protect them.

But at that point, it's his legal team against their legal team, and the most likely outcome of that is a negotiated settlement rather than a court. There's nothing wrong with that - the Gov might get half plus penalties. That's particularly okay if the dispute is over a vague point of tax code, subject to multiple interpretations.

Oh yeah, totally not saying that it is BAD that wealthy clients have more resources to defend themselves, more so just bringing it up. It wasn't even a jab at Trump, moreso just saying that the IRS doesn't really have the funding to go against someone with the money to back themselves up.

If ya send a notice to someone who is poor and then force them to pay, they're going to do so.

If you try that same thing with someone who is wealthier, it's not going to fly.

People could debate if the IRS is always truly forthcoming about what you owe them, but that's for another time.
399  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ivanka Trump Implicated in NY Times Published Tax Scandal on: October 15, 2020, 06:14:25 PM
...I'm just kinda pointing out the fact that the IRS could go after this if they wanted to, doesn't seem to be anything stopping them in regards to the state of limiations and such. Maybe they can't go after them criminally, but civilly they can recoup whatever money they want.

Fair to point out from an earlier discussion that the IRS does not have the proper funding to audit rich people due to budgetary cuts over the past decade or so. Plus the fact that Trump is the president. No one is going to try to audit him.

I'll agree with you in saying that this is all pre election smear, nothing else.

I disagree with that, because a lot of audits are a routine request for info or correction. Computer generated, seemingly. Others are a valid question on the appropriateness of a certain tactic.

Just don't really see why this would all stop if someone was president.

Another issue would be the nature of the deduction.

Say a taxpayer was wealthy and did a totally inappropriate deduction.

Let's say the fat cat deducted a 100M yacht, expensed it. He's got a dozen girls and ample supplies of various chemicals those his "customers" would like.

We know they'd pounce on you or I if small guys tried to deduce a boat for entertainment expense.

I can't imagine them not going after this clown. Maybe there's a loophole, but I have not ever heard of it. Granted there are explicit loopholes for aircraft, that's a different issue.

When I say that no one is going to audit him, I'm saying that typically when you appoint the commissioner of the IRS they're not going to let their agency embarrass you with a scandal like this. I'm not saying that the IRS is internally stopping an audit from happening, just saying that there is probably a less then zero chance that it ever be allowed to go public. So yeah, just saying there's the IRS wouldn't have the political power to do this if they wanted to and if there was enough evidence to pounce.

I'm also talking about auditing him for the big stuff and going after him for all of what is alleged in the NYTimes report. Routine stuff isn't going to be blocked just cause you're the President.

Wealthy clients, like Trump, make it hard for the IRS as they can also employ fat cat tax lawyers to protect them.

How did you conclude he has an 80% chance of re-election? Did you get that information online? I ask because every single poll froma  reputable source is showing Trump will lose the election.

Many people believe that Trump is will not win the election, but if you look a the scene he has the balls on his hands to play, he is a very smart man and a hardcore businessman that will do almost everything to success. I see him with 80% chances of winning again. History repeats itself.

Yeah that prediction is literally straight out of his ass. I understand that MANY people are saying 'well the polls were wrong for Brexit, and the polls were wrong in 2016, so the polls still don't matter' - I personally just don't think that line of thinking is going to be true.

You'd think that pollsters would be more cautious and learn from their mistakes in 2016 to ensure that it won't happen again. Cause if they failed AGAIN then we'd never even look at a poll as meaning anything. Plus, this isn't like one poll saying that Trump is going to lose -- it's tons of polls in aggregate. Also they're not just national polls, they're state polls from states that Trump needs to win to win the EC.

I'll agree with you in saying that Trump may be able to pull this around, though I wouldn't just randomly spit out numbers and say that is the chance that Trump wins without any backing.
