If you ask me, Twitter should be held accountable for this. I mean if it's really that easy to manipulate a blue-ticked account than its about time they think about their security. Once I saw a similar thing happening on Facebook, I reported that account and I haven't seen something like this again on facebook at least. I believe Facebook manually reviews a name change request of the account and you have to re-verify your Identity afterwards. It's about time these platforms should be held accountable too. They get away too often if you ask me. Yeah you can argue people are dumb, greedy whatever. But if you tell me that I can change a blue-tick account to impersonate a celebrity and get away with it than I think people should really think about what kind of pathetic platform they are on.

Based off of this statement you're giving me the impression that you are questioning paid music streaming in general and not the potential integration of micro payments backed by the LN (?).

No, I am not.

Quote from: xFiber
As of June 2018 Spotify reportedly has 83 million paid subscriptions (https://www.statista.com/statistics/244995/number-of-paying-spotify-subscribers/) and this number only seems to be increasing.

Good for them.

Quote from: xFiber
You also have to take in consideration that not all songs are available on YouTube (or not in the same audio quality).

I doubt that. The songs get uploaded to the official channels, so sound quality isn't the issue. Plus I haven't been in a scenario where I would have searched for a song and a youtube result didn't pop up. Plus there are services like Soundcloud.

Quote from: xFiber
A pay-per-minute model could prove to be a lot more cost effective for users who don't use the service that frequently. Instead of paying the full subscription fee every month they could only pay for the time listened per month.

You missed my point. $5 a month or $10 in the case of premium aren't much. People would still prefer a sort of subscription at this point range. LN could be used here to eliminate the fees which would have been incurred on the credit cards. I mean this sort of pay-per-minute model makes sense in developing countries where they live off on $2-$3 per day. But if you are targetting that sort of an audience you won't be getting anything out of it. I would love to see these subscriptions on the LN, Eliminating all sorts of fees for the buyer and the seller sounds good to me.
423  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-11-06] Electric Bike Runs on Lightning Network on: November 07, 2018, 04:53:14 PM

The pay-per-use concept is exactly what micro payments was meant for and this is ideal for the Lightning Network.

I mean there are use cases for LN for sure but we also have to look at how convenient they are. Imagine watching a movie and your balance runs out. You will have to load up your cold wallet and make a transaction to your hot wallet and then continue watching the movie. This could ruin many moments.

Quote
The same concept can be applied for music streaming services like Spotify.

I don't see how this will be useful. You can hear to the full version of the song on youtube before making the decision of buying it.

Quote
Most people here don't complain about fees because they generate most of what they have through campaigns, tasks, etc. People putting fiat on the table felt the pain of the high on-chain fees last year, so it really matters. Another thing is that it just doesn't make sense to pay $9 for something that also requires a $9 (or higher) on-chain fee, which is why LN is so important.

No one is denying the advantages LN brings to the table. My statement was for the support of the LN.

Quote
Netflix is just one of the many. Every streaming service has its own selection of series/movies/documentaries that it offers, which would require people to have numerous paid (monthly) subscriptions just to watch what they are interested in. This also applies to porn sites where people mostly look for specific scenes and photo sets of their favorite models.

I mean these subscriptions don't cost more than a meal at a good restaurant hence why a subscription model makes sense. we can't push things everywhere. I mean the LN can bring plenty of new concepts of payments to the table but are they really necessary and benefit the average joe?
424  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to earn bitcoin on blockchain games? on: November 07, 2018, 03:38:25 PM
Quote
i haven't really see any increased interest in "blockchain games" mostly because there aren't any proper ones and not to mention earning from any of them has always been a big waste of time.

Exactly! Making money from games has always been a waste of time. Developers can't afford to pay people to play their games. Winning tournaments requires hours put into the game then again there is no guarantee that you will win. The only way to make money while playing video games is by making videos and streaming them live. The only thing worthy in the article was about becoming a writer/expert on blockchain gaming, which isn't that hard TBH. If you understand how tokens/smart contracts work you can pretty easily write articles on blockchain gaming. But to answer your question OP, Start recording videos of yourself playing games you know and upload them to youtube. That's the only guaranteed way of making money while playing games.
425  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-11-06] Electric Bike Runs on Lightning Network on: November 06, 2018, 05:23:53 PM
Kudos to him This should kick things off. LN opens a whole world of possibilities with bitcoin. The next thing I would love to see is parking spaces using LN...

Quote
If cities are reluctant to use LN, someone can create a company that will do it for them by offering to handle everything around the LN.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I mean this is a huge opportunity if you ask me.

Quote
By allowing people to pay just for the content they want to consume, it might also reduce the popularity of illegal download/streaming sites.

Are you talking about Netflix? I mean they are really cheap. I dunno why someone would pay per episode instead of having a subscription. I mean 9 bucks are less than the transaction fees which bitcoin had during the Bullrun. But I would love to see Netflix accept cryptos.

One thing that is obvious on the forum,is laziness on the part of some members to read/search before Starting a new topic..

It's not Laziness, its the UX(User Experience) Let's be honest here. The design isn't as obvious as it should be. The Search button is blended in, I didn't find it until I was at the member rank, Plus the Default search doesn't lands the right result most of the times. Also, if you browse the forum on a mobile you won't find the search button at all until you scroll to the right part of the page. Googling something with bitcointalk in the title yields more accurate results than the forum search.

I agree with S_Therapist there should be a warning/note with a link included to the search page. Just displaying a warning won't do much.
427  Other / Meta / Re: Help notify new topic ! on: November 06, 2018, 04:08:39 PM
You get notified by email for those topics only which are on your Watchlist. Just alike Hexah said you won't receive an email notification for every topic which is created. You can "watch" the thread by clicking this button.

I mean its a no brainer. Let the users know that the thread will be moderated in a note, But there is already an option for self-moderating, So yeah. Basically its abuse of power iyam.

P.S does this has to do with what happened with TecShare and FH?
430  Economy / Economics / Re: A Cryptocurrency Millionaire Wants to Build a Utopia in Nevada on: November 05, 2018, 06:13:35 PM
So this crypto millionaire is an ethereum supporter. He is betting everything on a dead horse. Grin
What the hell is a "distributed collaborative entity"?Sounds like a communist project,in which all the participants will have equal rights and equal property, despite the fact that this millionaire pays for everything. Grin
Pretty crazy experiment,if you ask me.

Lol was waiting for communist trolls to jump in. So you are saying cryptos are somehow linked to communism? "distributed collaborative entity" doesn't mean "Communism". Its most likely a voting system for each class. E.g The residents will elect their Representatives and those Representatives will elect the head, All of it will take place on the Blockchain. You can't make a thriving communism society when Capitalism runs the world. But I do agree with you with on Eth being dead. They will most likely develop their own currency/blockchain if they are half serious with the project.

Lol, Another "paid" study. I mean they have got the guts to use a title like that. I would love to read an article from "bullshitinsider" that how much electricity is wasted per year by the USA alone. I debunked their claim in an earlier thread. if you guys want to read it I will attach it below. Basically, the gist of it is 6 times more energy is wasted by the USA than the whole bitcoin network uses each year.

Pakistan won this one quite easily and completed their yet another series clean sweep; awful performance by New Zealand team yet again. Winning by 47 runs in a T20 match is not something common, it's actually a very good margin.

Usman Khan's performance was fine, still no big improvement though.

Just caught the highlights, I mean New Zealand were cruising to victory they were like 92/2 in 13 overs and it all went downhill from there. Good Comeback from Pakistan tho. Pakistan has this habit of taking quick wickets one after another. I mean if you look at the wickets after Williamson got out Except Tim Southee everyone got out in a silly manner. Pakistan has been quite Lucky Lately, To be honest. They did nothing extraordinary to win this. Just following the basics.

As for Usman khan yeah he was decent, but I don't blame the fella. I mean they are bowling on dead pitches, A fast bowler can't do much on them.

The cricket can actually play a key role in getting the peace talks between the two countries, but it seems like that it's not going to happen anytime soon, sadly. Roll Eyes

Agreed! I haven't been in touch with the international media lately But it was sad to see how Modi declined the talks with Khan's Government. Guess its all about the election which is going to happen in 2019. We may see some real progress between the two countries once the elections have passed by.

Cocky? well, to get an answer to that we need to have a match between those two while PCB-BCCI dispute has always remained a hurdle. The cricket can actually play a key role in getting the peace talks between the two countries, but it seems like that it's not going to happen anytime soon, sadly. Roll Eyes

Bilateral series is not going to happen anytime soon, as the relations between the two countries are not getting any better. The next match between the two sides may be in 2019, during the Cricket World Cup.

Yeah, That's the only indo-pak match coming up next year. I like how the ICC thinks, Making two Rivals play the opening match in a home away from home for both the countries, iykwim xDD Anyway I would love to see more cricket matches between them.

The last match of Pakistan vs. New Zealand T20 series is about to begin with Pakistan deciding to bat first after winning the toss (yes, another toss win for Sarfaraz! He has been so lucky with the toss for the past few months). Pakistan has made one major bad change ("a blunder" would be more appropriate IMO) by selecting Usman Khan Shinwari in the place of Shaheen Afridi; I never like the performance of Usman.

I mean they have won the series, They have got nothing to lose. Why not try the bench?

@Spendulus Lol, what happens when this being gets rejected  Shocked Will it create a clone of her and live with her?
....
So you know that your girl is not that clone?

Lol, Now you are messing with my brain... I mean if she were a "clone" she wouldn't have lasted for 5 years right? "Clones" don't last that long I think.

Why someone would risk his capital at loss "betting" on an approval from the SEC? We are talking about thousands of million dollars.
\

Exactly! What makes you think that someone who has access to millions of dollars won't have influence over the SEC? One could argue that if the person had influence over the SEC they could have approved the ETF at any given price, But if you ask me. That would have looked suspicious. To make it look like a "natural" decision you will most likely do the effort of stabilizing BTC on globally accepted support level.

Or it could be smart AIs repeating the history just like @pooya87 mentioned... The point here is that nobody can be certain of anything that's the beauty of "free markets".
