Thanks for the feedback on the S1! Sounds better and better...

I might ever consider replacing the stock fan and/or adding a second. Any thoughts on that or are they pretty solid as they come?

not so sure you want to do this.  but some people have done it.

the stock fans move a lot of air. many so called quiet fans do not move a lot of air.

Can anyone from the pool help me with that ?

sell them on ebay as collectors items.  then get antminer u-1 or u -2

yeah got 2 Antminer U2 on the way.
But I was wondering if it might be useful one day to keep it !
What about if the newer chip are the same size, why couldn't I replace the old one with the new ? anyone can answer ?

thx

you would need to be able to flash all the firmware.

you need good solder skills but in theory it is possible.

Since am sticks are very cheap now you could hold on to them and hope  a swap is possible.

I'm considering jumping to an Antminer but I wonder how loud they are? Right now I'm pretty spoiled bc my Chilis have quiet coolers and before them I replaced my Jally fan with a Noctua. Where would you say these fall noise wise?
I wouldn't call the S1 silent, but it is far from loud.  It is louder than a block erupter cube, but they ran nearly silent.  The fan is big, so it doesn't make a whine noise like those 1U box fans.  For me it has been a cadillac compared to all of my other miners, easy to setup, not mining_proxy needed.  Just works, and switches between up to 3 pools automatically on any downtime.

this  is about perfect as a description .  one more thing they can run days on end with no maintenance.

I do not over clock them  and I have ups lots of them  good ones.  So I can run for 90 minutes in a black out.  so with the 3 pool rollover settings  I use bitminter,btcguild,cex.io    even if the blackout skips you to a rollover pool no down time.

Also if usa based here is a great switch  runs 16 ports. 1 in 15 out

Thanks doc!!! I appreciate it!

I am working on migrating from USB to higher hashrate hardware...... I think I will go with the proxy since I am already using BFG miner on the pool. Its just going to take me a bit....I spent what bit pennies I did have on some new hardware to do this....(BTW tigerdirect is pretty cool that they take BTC...too bad they don't post their prices in BTC).... I have one blade coming that I got off of flea bay for a steal.....but now I have to save my bit pennies again to get more hardware....hopefully one day I can get those big bitcoin rewards (yeah probably not due to the difficulty rise...)...

you want to save for an antminer s-1 they are very nice far far far better then a blade or a cube.

I decided that I would move back from btcguild.

I am now running 4 antminer s-1's around 720gh  right here at the doc's.

I am hoping to expand to 6 or maybe 8 in the next month.  this will have me at 1080- 1440gh.

Batch # [SHIPPED WITHIN 2 WEEKS] Cheesy

I went to your site  you have batches 5,6 sold out

Batch 7 is 234.99 seems to be in stock

then batch 8 which is 215 with a 2 week wait.

So I need to decide if I should order batch 7 and pay 20 more today then get them faster.

My order from batch six arrives to my house today.  This will bring me to 6 units 3 from you. 3 from other sources.

I sold 2 gpus. This lost 1600kh as they were both r9 290's It also lost a 600 watt pc no longer running. I got 1000 bucks for them.

The 3 units from you cost me  720 and hash at 1100 kh they use under 30 watts.

I am going to dump 2,3 more gpus and order more gridseeds in a day or 2.

The power savings will allow for a cooler home as spring is coming!

so are we still at the antminer s-1 is the only real machine in the world that is in stock?

by real machine :

It hashes over 150gh at 2 watts a hash or less.

i can order one today for about 1 coin or 630 usd or 3.50usd a hash.

I would get it in two or 3 days.

43995  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [ ANTMINER U2 ] THE NEW ANTMINER USB MINER = 2.0GHs {USA - .0385 LOWEST PRICE} on: March 11, 2014, 12:29:30 PM
FYI I just got one today, after 20 minutes it gets to 2.06 Gh/s with clock=x0981, and it runs great with zero errors and zero rejects.

When I overclock to 0A18, which on the U1 is 2.2 Gh/s, after running for 20 minutes it only gets up to 2.12 Gh/s with 0 rejects and 5.41% error rate.

So, it seems like 2.0 Gh/s is the max you can expect with low error rate.

I haven't been able to find a user manual on the U2 yet however, and the clock parameters for overclocking may be totally different than what was used for the U1.

I have emailed Antmain about this but have not heard back yet.

Edited to add:

After 2 hours it's hashing at 2.063 Gh/s, with zero rejects and zero H/W errors.

Also, FYI my USB power is not an issue. I am getting my +5V from the molex connector of an ATX PSU at 32Amps.

if you had a u-1 and a u-2 to compare  you could see if it has the same resistor controlling the voltage allowed to the chip.

Based on you tests so far I think it is the same.

which makes the older sticks better in one way the will fit on a tighter hub.
the newer sticks may not need fans.
So if  you have a choice of sticks some may prefer the new for the silence offered. Some may prefer the old for the smaller size.
