I actually really like this pool, I came to this pool from slush's pool, I like the support and the updates from the good Dr.
My earlier question still stands though, I am wondering if I should set up a mining proxy for my incoming blade, or if I should just connect to the getwork protocol....
what are the pros and cons of both, since I know getwork is the system, and stratum is the new hotness (relatively).

Getwork: easier to set up but the blade/cube runs slowly.
Stratum proxy: more to set up, but the blade/cube runs at full speed.

How to set up ASICMiner cubes and blades:

Thanks doc!!! I appreciate it!

I am working on migrating from USB to higher hashrate hardware...... I think I will go with the proxy since I am already using BFG miner on the pool. Its just going to take me a bit....I spent what bit pennies I did have on some new hardware to do this....(BTW tigerdirect is pretty cool that they take BTC...too bad they don't post their prices in BTC).... I have one blade coming that I got off of flea bay for a steal.....but now I have to save my bit pennies again to get more hardware....hopefully one day I can get those big bitcoin rewards (yeah probably not due to the difficulty rise...)...

I stongly recommend a proxy for blades and cubes.
I tried it both ways: with getwork I got only 50% of the hashrate.
And after a few hints from the Doc I had the proxy installed in 10 min.

Is the problem with bitfury devices only sending in some of their proofs of work fixed? Was there a firmware update or something like that?

Or is it still necessary to set a high difficulty or other tricks?

Yes, I noticed 25GH higher work recently than the past few days. It was something the pool did. I'm back at 700GH.

Yes, I noticed 25GH higher work recently than the past few days. It was something the pool did. I'm back at 700GH.

I think if you are affected by the bitfury bug then your hashrate on the website drops to almost nothing because the bitfury only sends in a small fraction of its work. I'm not that familiar with it though - I don't have any bitfury cards.

Just noticed bitminter go down, but it's back up again, that's why I'm here.  Tongue

My client has been connected 5 days without being disconnected at all. Maybe that was a problem somewhere out on the interwebs.

you want to save for an antminer s-1 they are very nice far far far better then a blade or a cube.

I decided that I would move back from btcguild.

I am now running 4 antminer s-1's around 720gh  right here at the doc's.

I am hoping to expand to 6 or maybe 8 in the next month.  this will have me at 1080- 1440gh.

I'm considering jumping to an Antminer but I wonder how loud they are? Right now I'm pretty spoiled bc my Chilis have quiet coolers and before them I replaced my Jally fan with a Noctua. Where would you say these fall noise wise?

I wouldn't call the S1 silent, but it is far from loud.  It is louder than a block erupter cube, but they ran nearly silent.  The fan is big, so it doesn't make a whine noise like those 1U box fans.  For me it has been a cadillac compared to all of my other miners, easy to setup, not mining_proxy needed.  Just works, and switches between up to 3 pools automatically on any downtime.

I have my S1 direct beside my desk.
It is pretty silent. I would say about the noise of a normal desktop computer. My cube was way louder.
Only the changes in fanspeed are kind of annoying (from the noise-side. For power consumption it is good of course)

this  is about perfect as a description .  one more thing they can run days on end with no maintenance.

I do not over clock them  and I have ups lots of them  good ones.  So I can run for 90 minutes in a black out.  so with the 3 pool rollover settings  I use bitminter,btcguild,cex.io    even if the blackout skips you to a rollover pool no down time.

Also if usa based here is a great switch  runs 16 ports. 1 in 15 out

you would need to be able to flash all the firmware.

you need good solder skills but in theory it is possible.

Since am sticks are very cheap now you could hold on to them and hope  a swap is possible.
