481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ETF $IBTC REMOVED IN DTCC WEBSITE!! MANIPULATION COMING OUT? on: October 24, 2023, 06:12:06 PM
JUST IN: The ticker for BlackRock's spot #Bitcoin    ETF, $IBTC, has just been removed from the DTCC website.

This explains why the pump seems to have been ended for now, but it doesn't explain why it's not dropping fast back to under 30k.
So it may be something more. I'd wait a little before drawing any conclusions. Clearly, the expectations seem to very high atm, so a short cool down is not that bad.

How will it affect your life if bitcoin price comes to $1 million per bitcoin ?

You may be thinking too far. I am not convinced that Bitcoin will get to $1M during my lifetime, I expect that at some point it will stop having both crypto winters and huge bull runs, getting to a slow rise, kind of like gold usual trend.
As somebody earning (and spending) bitcoin for quite some time, Bitcoin has already made my life easier. Of course, the higher the price, the better.
But I would love see its acceptance in shops start rising faster than its price.

485  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance Visa Cards Not Available in Europe Anymore on: October 22, 2023, 05:54:35 PM
You mean the exact old physical card?

Maybe my wording was not so great. I meant the card that will expire in the spring of 2024. It's the card that stopped working exactly when I actually needed it (due to migration to different BIN and such)
I think that it's from the batch after Contis, but I don't rely that well on my memory.

imagine you're on December 21st, with tears in your eyes you start cutting your Binance card only to get a mail on the 24th saying "Happy Christmas, we have a wonderful surprise for you, all cards will be valid until their expiration dates" , and tears of joy will have a new meaning.

LMAO, this is actually not even an impossible scenario! Highly unlikely though  Grin

Don't forget the cashback program that you can't cash out!  Cheesy

Oh, yes, you're totally right!

Revolut has become a bank and it's on its path to working exactly like a bank, including AML and freezing your account, you forgot to pay a fine and you will have your Revolut account frozen just like any national bank if you don't have enough money to pay it in them. Crypto cards were cool and so but with the new regulation and the crappy service support exchange offer, it's more like some novelty toy rather than something really useful.

True and, sadly, very true...
486  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: [FREE RAFFLE] Flashmob for Willis Blockparty [Prices : 30mBTC] on: October 22, 2023, 05:44:09 PM
Blockparty 48 is ready to join.
Maybe now is a good time to join, as for example the difficulty of ckpool is at 127.0 so that a block find could be more probably.

If I understood the rules correctly, this should be OK. If it's not, apologies..

487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin EFT income reach BTC 100 thousand dollars? on: October 22, 2023, 05:30:03 PM
Is ETF Approval Already Priced in?

From what I know, the last spike that resulted after the last ETF-related fake news should tell loud and clear that US ETF approval is not priced in.

However, they added that they expect a serious decline if spot Bitcoin ETF applications are rejected.

Short term movements are expected on most ETF news. But serious decline? I kind of doubt it (however, not an investment advice). Keep in mind that hash rate is going up like crazy and halving is getting closer.

PS. Shouldn't this topic be part of Speculation?

489  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance Visa Cards Not Available in Europe Anymore on: October 22, 2023, 05:12:38 PM
Binance just announced that they are stopping with offering their Visa debit card services  to EEA users on December 20th 2023.

Wow, Binance is in a worse mess than Wirex right now, imagine that being possible at all! At least Wirex somehow by god knows what scheme managed to keep their virtual cards alive and those worked with curve, Binance is killing virtual card also.

Indeed, an ugly surprise. I've just read too about Binance cards. Well, it's not a huge surprise, since they already have their ongoing issues with EUR processing partners, still, I thought that they'll find a replacement.

And since you said Wirex, it's interesting how the tide turns,... on my last check Wirex old card started working (!), so although they have quite some conversion fees and quite incapable support... they managed to stay afloat.

Quote
What do I need to do?
On 20th December 2023, please destroy your Binance Visa Debit Card by cutting it through the chip and magnetic stripe.

Why?

Many of their cards will still be valid and I expect that trying to use them has a tiny chance to do (them) some ugly surprises somewhere, by some odd combination of bugs and incompetence somewhere on the chain.
Or, yeah, copy-paste is also a valid reason.
490  Economy / Reputation / Re: "Bitcointalk" is part of my family living life & my "Baby birthday celebration" on: October 22, 2023, 09:31:34 AM
If you live outside the cities of Bangladesh, $100-$120(I mean US Dollar) is enough for a family, so there is no need for multiple accounts.

Happy Birthday and all the best wishes, but I want to warn (again and again) on the risks of bitcointalk as sole or main income.
I can guess that the situation / living in Bangladesh is probably not great, and having a little child makes everything more busy, but try to allow yourself the time and energy to develop yourself and to also get a good enough day job sooner or later, allowing yourself the "luxury" to not see the end of a signature campaign as "end of the world", for example.
Best of luck!
491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin for everyone? on: October 21, 2023, 06:02:05 PM
I am asking this because not everyone has made tangible profit for holding. Just like myself I end up selling at a loss most times just to solve a problem. Some might be lucky to buy at a low rate and within few weeks or months the price just pumps to their favour. This kept me wondering if Bitcoin is actually for every one or it is a scheme for selected individuals..

Bitcoin is a tool. A great one. But, like the case for most tools, one needs to understand how to use it for his own benefit.
And yes, this means that Bitcoin is not for everybody.
* some will lose it because he doesn't understand how to keep his coins safe
* some will lose money because they don't have the patience and missed the basics of investing
* some will be lured to various scams or meaningless ways to waste money and energy
and the list can continue.

Plus, with the time ticking and the price going higher every cycle, more and more (failing to understand the power of 8 digits after the decimal point) will think they've missed the train or that Bitcoin is not for them.
And this is sad, because all that Bitcoin needs is a little patience and willingness to learn (and I don't mean here the cold math behind it).

[...]a few hypothetical evidence that shows that[...]

One more discussion about this is never too much I guess! Smiley

I tend to believe that any discussion on this matter cannot bring anything new and cannot do anything good. If Satoshi is alive (and I hope so), if real clues are ever shown, they can become a threat to his life.
Plus I think that any new "evidence" in this matter is only meant to bring a bit more audience to this or that blog or newspaper. Lopp used to have very useful posts, imho this is not really one of those.

Am observat dupa postarea anterioara si nu am mai editat-o: cred ca aici ai o greseala (posibil de copy-paste).

495  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coins.ph hacked, $6 million lost? on: October 21, 2023, 10:48:36 AM
Yeah, Coins.ph hasn't confirmed the hacking allegations yet, but they also haven't disputed them, which, in my opinion, should have been their first response if the news isn't true.

Indeed, quite a peculiar post. It wants to be somewhat reassuring for its users/customers, but by not denying the hack.. everybody can understand whatever they want, even the worse case scenario.
Since I do have the seeds of negativity in my thinking, I will for now assume they did get hacked and didn't want neither to openly admit it (to avoid panic, especially as you said, it's not that a big amount), nor to deny it so they don't get caught lying.

Thank you all for the generosity and for the opportunity.

Multumim 1miau.

499  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What if the internet permanently shuts down on: October 15, 2023, 02:08:22 PM
I'll focus on finance, so I'm thinking what will happen to the bitcoin inside wallets, what will happen to every fiat currency in bank accounts, if everything erases as a result of internet total breakdown?

The bitcoins are not in the wallets, the wallets only hold the keys. The bitcoins "are" on the blockchain and copies of it are in a lot of computers all over the world.
The amounts of fiat in the bank accounts are written into databases which for most banks I expect to be backed up securely too.

In both cases people relying on the technology will have to wait patiently until the internet is restored, the things continue from where they left (especially bitcoin) and they get access to their money again.

The fact you compare one forum with a decentralized network like Bitcoin tells that pretty much want this pointless discussion that was started many times before.
An attack like you're saying would come from an intelligent race from outer space. And if so, each and everybody will have more urgent issues than their money.
500  Other / Archival / Re: [banned mixer] - Premium Bitcoin Mixer | Launched in 2018 🛡️ on: October 15, 2023, 01:59:58 PM
Edit: The mix was successful. However, the page that tells you to deposit never says the deposit has been confirmed. It is stuck at "awaiting confirmation...", but it's strictly a frontend issue.

I've also done today a test mix (with Tor browser). And apart of the fact the mixed coins have arrived almost too fast after my sent ones (less than one hour), all was OK.
I've also noticed this message and I wanted to say about it, but I see there are already two reports Smiley
