521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: January 24, 2017, 08:15:33 AM
Having said all that, let me make one thing clear.

Everything I said today refers to only me and my role as dev.

I don't care and have no opinion about whether anyone else wants to use Spreadcoin for speculative purposes or whatever.

It's a permissionless system, do as you please. Grin

Whether you do or you don't... I have no opinion about it one way or the other.

...

BTW is anyone here using Spreadcoin for commerce?
You know, that thing were you offer or demand goods or services?

No?

Hm.... surrounded by a bunch of speculators... I see.

Go have a look at the DASH markets for the same thing, nobody uses altcoins to trade for goods or services, why on earth would anyone use SPR if LTC is even struggling to use it's currency for product placement.

When Bitcoin goes up people hold for the long term, sell or spend it on things, the game has changed from the early days years ago Cheesy

When all is said an done, virtually no crypto projects have achieved any uses at all.  Not even Bitcoin.

The first project to actually prove to be USEFUL to normal people is going to rule supreme.

George, it is really very sad to see you regularly insult people who supported you for a long time.

I have no idea why you think this will encourage others to support you. People are talking about the 150k SPR that I donated to you but I know that several others have donated large amounts of SPR and £/$/€ to cover your living costs while you work on Spreadcoin. My 150k is a small amount overall. To be calling these people cockroaches for expecting you to keep to your end of the bargain is hardly the best advert of your personal conduct. I'm tempted to post our Slack conversation from when I made my largest donation.

It is disingenuous to state that large investors tried to influence the direction of development when you were part of the conversations, had ample opportunity to discuss and challenge and agreed on the direction that you were going to take. Part of being a member of a team is disagreeing with each other and debating to resolution and agreement.  Its shitty that you decided to change direction without working as part of a team.

Throwing people's goodwill back in their face and calling them a cockroach is just really, really disappointing.

There is no organised Crowncoin coup against Spreadcoin.  CRW is a large team that just happens to have  several SPR members who switched to another project because they were sick of your bullshit. I personally keep an eye on this thread because I am keen to understand what is going on and whether I was right to decide that I couldn't have a working relationship with you.  For what its worth, I really wanted to see SPR succeed right up until the point you started throwing insults around.

Here's a short new update video about the current state of spreadwallet development.

I demonstrate the general behaviour of the explorer tabs, and a few of the commands that you can currently use.
You can type the block_nr, with or without coin name. Right now it will just show basic block-header-data. (More to come soon)
You can do a getaddr to ask a full node to inform you about the peers it knows (or has seen in the past. It will list the 100 most recent ones)
You can do a ping on any IP.
You can do a portcheck on an IP that will tell you which of the coins in your coin-list is running on that IP.

Stay tuned for more.  Smiley

Still working on the podcast (and a dozen other things), don't worry.  Wink

Looks interesting.

Have you started on the core updates yet?  If not, would you collaborate with somebody to do the work?

Btw how is it still unique with pools present?

Ocminer has a way through a private miner to allow you to mine on his pool however it is a trust/trust relationship.  Mine at your own risk.

Exactly.

Ocminer's tool requires you to blindly trust him.
Although sourcecode is available, it is not possible to rebuild the exact same builds that you will receive from ocminer yourself.
He adds some sort of encrypted keys / connection mechanism to the file that you are not allowed to know.

Therefor you have to blindly trust him that the builds you receive actually are what they are.

But if this is his requirement, then why not just give him full remote access to your mining hardware?
From a trust perspective it's a similar scenario (just a little bit exaggerated).

This is the reason why Spreadcoin has never officialy endorsed ocminer's pool.
Because blind trust has no place in crypto.

But ofcourse you are free to enter into an agreement with him.
None of my business.  Smiley

I find it amazing that after nearly two years, you still don't understand how ocminer's pool works to enable pool mining spreadx11 despite him explaining himself numerous times.

It is as truatless as any pool relationship and the code IS open source.

I would like fractions of crowns to have non location specific names. This is a global platform, not a scandanavian one.

Any chance to borrow a unique and unprecedented DASH tech called InstantSent? If I was to choose between helping u and injecting a dirty syringle into ur ass I would go with the latter since u dont like when someone else takes the lead.

InstantX is not the best solution for instant transactions. I'm not a fan.

Final testing of our new QT Wallet going on. Great job @tlc

Looking really good. I feel like I'm missing out not being able to help test! Save something for me to do when I get back from the mountains on the 21st!

Since Star Wars is a hit and we are discussing centralization -- it is worthwhile to think about the ethics of engineering:

http://www.scifipolicy.com/blog/2016/12/18/rogue-one-an-engineering-ethics-story

The underlying ethics of contributing to centralized solutions which inevitably become instruments of control, surveillance and manipulation over time --  when an alternative system of collaboration without these obvious evils exists -- is something which hasn't really sunk in for folks....

I mean, Google's old prospectus said don't be evil... but then if they really believed that they would have decentralized and wouldn't be collecting all the data on everyone that they are.  It's not that folks wake-up in the morning and say let's be evil (at least most folks).  It's just that most of us wake up in the morning and don't think at all -- we just do what has to be done to get the bills paid and whatever kindness and creativity is left we share with our friends and family.

Part of what should bring people to CRW and other platforms like it is the opportunity to build something better now that we know it is possible.

In the last little note I talked about the economics -- but there is also the ethical dimension.

Or there is the ethical dimension to it if you aren't a Sith, or someone who believes that the fate of humans should be similar to cattle.

The funny thing is that we probably fought the first version of this battle from around 1945 - 1989, against one version of control/evil -- after just having defeated another version of control/evil in a big war... and now we seem to be lined up to fight it again in the digital realm.

People never seem to learn and the Empire Always Strikes Back...

or that's one way of looking at it.  just worth thinking about....

I'm so glad we have you on board. I love reading your posts. Always get the grey material running.

I'm afraid I'm off gallivanting in Switzerland for a couple of weeks again. Sorry I won't be around to help testing. I'll be back with a vengeance!

Will check in on Slack and the thread every day though.

If anybody needs vps resources for testing, hit me up and I'll spin some up for you.

Happy New Year everybody,  Thanks for all of your support.

2017 is going to be a great year.  The whitepapers are looking great and we can't wait to release them and the new wallet.  Not long now.

I'm sorry

Where is Tony? Don't bullshit me. U know Tony. He's a police officer expedited to monitor the progress being made on ur whitepaper that u have been preparing for fucking three months. Man it's a shame that u deceive people into thinking that it took only 2 weeks for u to finish it. U have been on it since early september and haven't finished it on time. Hurry up and get ur shit in order because Tony is about to test ur butt with his whip.

We're actually working on the fourth whitepaper now.

I wondered who that guy who is following me is.

Kudos to C-cex for returning 0.5BTC I misplaced.

They keep to their word... Great exchange and really underrated.

I'm not sure if they are so great after several ICOs they ran recently...

Hey no one is perfect.

I'm talking from my perspective, where I've never invested into ICOs. From a user/dev perspective, I think they're great.

I have to agree. They seem to have a pretty slick operation and decent moral compass compared to some of the exchanges we have been in conversations with

This might be the shittiest investment ever, look at this, poor abandoned broken code and no volume at all, totally miserable crap utilizing masternodes though not offering anything that can be thought as a clear advantage over 100 identical specimens.

Thanks for your opinion.
537  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CRW] CROWN (SHA256) | Masternodes (Thrones) | DGW | Mergedmining | etc on: December 21, 2016, 12:20:37 PM
Just a quick heads up.

I posted a few days ago that we would be releasing the whitepapers in "a few days".  After our meeting yesterday we have decided to release the first whitepaper to coincide with the publishing of our new web site and to be closer to the new wallet release.  This means that they will be released in two to four weeks so that we can maximise their impact.  We want as may people as possible to read and talk about what we are doing.

A delay is quite a good thing actually as we are still waiting for peer review from one more team member.  Would be wrong to release without his input.

Sorry for setting an unrealistic timescale.

I see things are taking places. Where's Greg, where's Tony, ur granny's lover? I take it, nothing has been prepared for Tony's arrival, not even whitepapers u have been working on for the past three months. Light tap at the door u hear right now is probably a sign that Tony comes into ur diller house. U better hurry ur ass up and make broken cardan shaft roll again before Tony's here, Tony has a rubber dog whip for hurrying up lazy asses.

I'm sorry, I don't understand a word you just said.

Well, apart from you saying we've been working on the whitepapers for three months.  We started work on the whitepapers in the second week of this month so have been working on them for two weeks.

Version 120060.  Nice!

I should have some time to join in the testing tomorrow.
