My bitcoin story started in February 2017 just as Bitcoin was reaching 1000k for the 2nd time. A friend of a friend was running a mining operation in Bali but he was very secretive about what he was doing. He said that he was hosting information for big companies on his servers. I knew just enough at the time that he was not telling the truth fully. I think it was the secrecy shrouding his small farm that kept me very interested. Within a couple weeks I found myself with a BTC position and feeling ready to trade just like most noobies in the beginning. Try as I could, It seemed I was particularly good at buying the top and selling the bottom. In this time Bitcoin was a new and crazy concept and still largely unheard of by most of the world. I remember speaking with my father over the phone and him telling me it sounded like a ponzi scam or MLM group. His words were powerful and I got scared and lost 1/3 my BTC value over the next couple trades. I got frustrated and decided to sell everything and get my money back and that my father was probably right. During that time, BTC dropped from 2800 to 1800. At 1800 I knew price was likely oversold and I bought with everything I had.
Finally it was The Wall Observer thread right here in our own forum where I received my greatest education in Bitcoin and of course Andreas Antonopoulos.
I still don't trade, too much stress for me, only buy and HODL, buy and HODL. Oh and buy and SPENDL is ok also.

Another example how 99.9% of people are brainwashed. Haloween is considered as one of the most important satanic holidays which has it's roots in a witchcraft. Demons, blood and the times when people dress in costumes and act to touch the darkness and demonic energy. All of that was commercialised and brought to children and people as it was something completely normal. Aaaaand ignore. omg, lol I swear I had not seen this yet Don't worry. It's just that you went through the same programing. Aaand it's gone...... I must have the same programming as well. Jesus, please save us from the evil Halloween and brainwashing cartoons. Oh look, South Park S23E05 is out. Can my salvation wait till tomorrow? Bye jupiter9, I hope you find your crowd.

yaah good for creating thread. Bitmain came through on a previously almost defunct Texas site, the above Russian site and the claim today that Russia wants to control 20% of BTC mining,
bad think 20% fee is huge i don't agree for that. and a prayer or a pump? Or do they have some government/institutional support now and with halving are making their move.
Everything is very well if government are smoothly handle everything, but problem maximum govt. people have not knowledge management concurrency. As for the thread...just feels funky....at these prices and difficulty and miner prices and such...what am I missing for this push to big miners all acting like newbs and putting up miners? delusional? New ASIC's etc? Seems odder than usual in the usual BTC oddness universe...go figure..fishing for what others think/heard/guess This the first time in history anyone has ever seen the likes of Bitcoin, It makes sense that more attention is being paid since the run to 20k and the concise bottom at 3K. The halving is coming, the math checks out, people are paying attention. Mining is still the best way to develop a powerful position with enormous opportunity for mid and long term. I can absolutely see Russia dominating a significant % of mining. They excel out of necessity.

I posted this in another thread but you can get everything all ready to go in a box: https://lightninginabox.co/product/raspiblitz-raspberry-pi-lightning-node/It's more then putting it together yourself and you don't get to learn about the RPi, but depending on how what you want to do it is all put together with and ready to go. You can then start to tinker with a known working product and go from there. Just a thought. -Dave Thanks Dave, the build and sourcing is part of the fun. I like that screen in your link. Wouldn't mind adding one just like it I don't understand the interface yet but I assume any wireless keyboard. And mouse? or touchscreen?

So I've been mucking around with an embroidery machine for the last week and what initially was an effort to produce a BTC logo for my hat has become much more. I created these with the WO members in mind and I've thoroughly enjoyed the crafting time. I'd like to share these with all of you if you'll have them. Yes, for free. Most are ready to go patches for sew on or glue on. The plain BTC logos in the bottom image (upper left side) are on a tear away backing that leaves only the BTC after applying. Some are on on cotton that can be cut away. Please PM or email me an address and you're welcome to choose any patch you like, (first come, first serve) If you'd like to preserve your opsec, set up a burner email address and send only the shipping address where you'd like to receive. wallobserver@protonmail.comI'll choose a design at random if none is specified. Size reference, the large patches in the center are 4 inches round 10cm. I'll likely do more in the future and I'm open to trying or personalizing your design. Let me know your ideas. Enjoy

I suppose there are many iterations of practical guidelines that are well summarized. Here are a couple I've spent time with but won't claim any mastery over.
“Is it true; is it kind, or is it necessary?” ― Socrates This could be applied to just about any action or thought.
1. Be impeccable with your word. 2. Don't take anything personally. 3. Don't make assumptions. 4. Always do your best. " ― don Miguel Ruiz, The Four Agreements

Does it have to be a RPi? How easy to move must it be?
Well, it should fit in my laptop bag easily. It will need to travel once every few months and must be quiet. Thanks for suggesting other hardware. Honestly, I don't know what I'm doing at this stage and the hardware is as much a learning curve as the node. I'm not sure how often I'll run it or for how long, mainly I want to learn about RPi and running a node and figured this would be the best entry. By all means, please make specific suggestions.

Thanks, I appreciate your input. So here's what I've put together. *RPi 4 model b 4gb *Smraza Case for Raspberry Pi 4 B, Case with Cooling Fan, 4PCS Heatsinks, 5V 3A USB-C Power Supply *SanDisk Ultra 32GB microSDHC UHS-I Card with Adapter - 98MB/s *WD My Passport Ultra 2TB hard drive (I have this already) Here's the actual components I'll run. https://www.amazon.ca/hz/wishlist/ls/2AP9FHFTAAHX3?ref_=wl_shareI couldn't find a better power supply than the one included with the case. 5v 3A Should I be looking for something better? Is this HD going to be sufficient powered by USB? I intend to partition 500gb on this drive for this purpose.

Not that we should care about BCH in here but this will be interesting One could even speculate the correlation between this news and the big move. There appear to be some problems with BCH mining, perhaps related to the difficulty re-targeting algorithm. It also appears one entity is now in effective control of mining.
I'm curious to learn what is going on here. Anyone know more? https://twitter.com/aantonop/status/1188277233640755202?s=19

Great story Arriemoller! I have a 13 year old dog that I hope to tell the tale of here one day. (possibly before 100K ) I'd like to think that I'd be able to take mine with my Ruger .22 the same way but I'm certain other parts of the family would never allow that. Good for you, full circle.
