Gas pipeline explosion near St. Petersburg. Any bets as to whether the Americans, James Bond, or Ukrainian bio-engineered geese did it?

Or it could be Russia just being Russia and disintegrating due to its own rot and corruption.

Another gas explosion in Sakhalin, residential building, 9 people dead. The thing about this one is that the building - like 1/3 of Russia, the "super power" threatening other countries with oil and gas blackmail - does not have natural gas piped to it, so residents use propane tanks, which caused the explosion.

Makes one wonder if that whole "Europe is gonna freeze" thing might have been a bit of a projection.
542  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Where would Twitter go after its takeover by Elon Musk ? on: November 19, 2022, 01:15:12 PM
When I anticipated Twitter's demise, I had not factored in the employees packing up their bags and leaving the company to rot now that they had to actually do work instead of being paid to chat. I can only assume this will accelerate the downfall.

If they haven't been doing actual work then it wouldn't matter if they leave. Have you been reading too much of Elon's self-aggrandizing tweeterage? Now that's a person who needs to "chat" less and work more. Starting from figuring out how a company he paid $40 billion of OPM for actually functions.

Which tight end are you guys talking about?

Goedert. I traded him to bbc and he's out on IR now.

something special that comes along once in a long while

Sounds like another excuse for a delay. Funny how a simple tweet like that triggers cult-like adulation of a non-existent inanimate object.

Also, yes sure, Poland wants to share a border with the RF. What could go wrong?

As far as I know it does share a border with RF.

Wait, kremlinists now watch Arestovych? That would explain how they keep believing that Putin is winning by retreating.

@suchmoon. The tight end you gave me is defective. May I have a refund?

Was good when he left my team, you must have broken him.

Look on the bright side - he might be back before the playoffs.

Bavovna in Dzhankoi, Crimea. About 200km inside Russian-occupied territory, so kinda beyond the range of your friendly neighborhood HIMARS. Ukrainians might be using some new gadgets. Can't be solar flares because it's the middle of the night.

https://t.me/tipichyidzhankoi/1011

Note to those who have the mental capacity to understand:  'unreliable' != 'always wrong'.

I think you're fine, there doesn't seem to be much risk that you could be put into any category other than "always wrong".
549  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: November 16, 2022, 01:06:36 PM
The Putin Fan boys that think Poland is going to invade Ukraine are really going to eat this up.

It looks more like Ukraine is invading Poland, so they got it all wrong Smiley

In other news on the opposite side of Ukraine, in Russia a fuel storage tank caught fire. You know, the typical spontaneous combustion event that Russians would usually blame on solar flares or something. Now they say it was a drone attack. The place is more than 150km from Ukraine's border. Towards Moscow. And Ukraine's Bayraktars have been destroyed 3 times over. Actually that might explain it. Air defense systems can't detect non-existent drones, clever.

In the village of Stalnoy Kon in the Oryol region, an oil depot was attacked, presumably using a drone, said the head of the region Andrey Klychkov

Firstly the US and allies must make up their minds about what happened - my first instinct is that the target obviously does not make any sense and I am not sure there is anything in there that could be a target. A missile flying through half Ukraine must have been at some point detected?

Looking at the picture, it seems a vey small effect for a full missile detonating. You can see a small crater, even smaller than one from an arty shell, and a tractor that is not that badly damaged. Could have been a fragment or even WWII unexploded munitions?

According to Poland's MFA the fragments belong to a "Russian made" missile, which could mean anything from an X-101 cruise missile to a C-300 from a Ukrainian SAM. At least we know it's not Iranian, nor Chinese Smiley.

As for target, rumor has it that there is a power plant near the border on the Ukrainian side so it's possible that some ancient cruise missile was aimed at it and missed it by a few km (inertial guidance is a bitch). Otherwise it would be an incredibly unbelievable coincidence that something unrelated exploded at poor farmers at the same time when Russians were launching ~100 missiles at the Ukrainian power grid.

Polish media reported that two people died Tuesday afternoon after a projectile struck an area where grain was drying in Przewodów, a Polish village near the border with Ukraine.

Fuck... I hope these two Polish farmers were just smoking in the wrong place, otherwise it was nice knowing you all.

So ...

Just flow with me here for a sec... What if this whole FTX thing was really a set-up.  Powers that be come in... got SB-F hooked on SOMETHING.  Have you seen the videos of him vibrating like a diesel engine?  Then nudge him further and further into the red 'till they set up the collapse.  Have legislation ready in the countries they control to try to bring the whole thing down over a few weeks...

Nah.  Just a ponzi prolly.

I'm just going to quote this from time to time until I either come out dead wrong, or...

Well let's hope for dead wrong.

Occam's razor says that greed and stupidity of hoi polloi is far more powerful than any lizard conspiracy could hope to be.
553  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: November 15, 2022, 04:42:37 PM
I guess their argument would be that they are actually winning it twice against Ukraine against themselves.

I really hope that the soldier who allegedly wrote that is never found - even a honest complaint could be interpreted as treason. The more nervous they grow, the more are they going to repress every sign of dissent.

It's a well-known "voenkor", shouldn't be hard to find. Not sure if it's a personal experience or they're retelling someone else's story though. But yeah, there were already some threats from Kremlin towards telegram warriors, because telling everyone that that king is naked - not acceptable.

They will not enjoy the money actually, because they will be dead.

If they're dead, they families must get paid ~7 million rubles. Many of them will go "missing" instead. Most of the "Moskva" sailors are still "missing". Putin saves 7 million.

New-ish excuse why putinists are losing the war:

After the Mariupol operation, we considered that we suffered most of the losses from friendly fire. Someone even called the figure - sixty percent. This is a common occurrence, but its spread depends, of course, on the competence of commanders - especially artillerymen.

We are completing the task, when suddenly mines began to fall on our heads from the rear. Who? Where? Raise the copter, find a mortar battery, rush there...
- Who are you!?
- The battalion of such and such a regiment from Russia.
- Why are you hitting us?
- We are not aiming at you - at a point on the map. We've been assigned a task, and we're doing it.
- So no one corrects you, you shoot at the map the old fashioned way ...
- Well, so...

Then we didn’t leave them - we corrected them ourselves, downloaded programs to their smartphones, taught them how to use them ... And there were so many of them ... We move around the industrial zone, occupy buildings, hold them at night - in the morning we rotate in other groups so that the guys can relax. We start to rotate - and there are mines on the route ... Where from? Some army general gave a command to his engineers to mine the front, which had gone ahead in a day, but the general did not even bother to ask. As a result, several people died, including the tank crew with the tank company commander, who was on foot to receive the task.

We thought that they had already learned not to do at least such stupid things as tonight the rotation, which was returning to the base with the headlights turned off, flew into the ditch, which was dug behind them across the road by army subcontractors. There a commander of the engineering service ruined all the access roads along the route, because of his "art" we have overturned Urals ... In general, with such geniuses, we don’t even need enemies. Dear army chiefs, control the situation - it's time to grow.

I'm sure the "chiefs" will read this and fix the issues immediately. Poor guys just didn't know that their glorious forces are killing each other.

The topic of the thread is as stupid as it gets but seems like a good test as to how some people see the forum and what drives them to participate here. Not very surprising though.

I don't know if you had some issues with the merit system before, or you are a merit source (I doubt) or likely you had been a merit source and applied to be removed or you were delisted by theymos. One of the above could be the case because the bitterness is eminent.

So you know nothing, but you think I'm bitter Grin

Except my post in not against the merit system in any way, but against the attempt to "monetize" it. A solution for a problem that doesn't exist. Likely to create many new problems.

My entire team in the two games i faced Moon Coiners this season, 1 total touchdown (excl qbs), scored by a player that's not even on my team anymore.  Cheesy

Yeah my team is quite sucky right now, but I got lucky...

Whereas Dire got unlucky to lose this week with a huge score like that.

Anyway, how many wins do you think will secure a playoff spot? Obviously, nine means you are in, so i'm looking at eight wins and above-average Pts For. What was the tie-breaker in the event that two teams have the same record at the end of the regular season...h2h record, total points scored, or something else?

Playoff Tie-Breaker:    Higher seed wins

Which, if I'm not mistaken, is based on "points for" when W-L is equal.

Edit: actually "playoff tie-breaker" might be about something else (perhaps if a playoff game ends in a tie?), but still - playoff selection should be based on the standings order on the "league overview" page, which is I think W-L, then "points for".

Edit2:

Regular season standings determine a team's playoff seed, matchup, and schedule. [...] In leagues without divisions, playoff seeds are based on overall standings.

Regular season tiebreakers
    Total fantasy points (season total).
Fantasy points scored in the most recently completed matchup.
Fantasy points scored in the matchup two weeks prior (this continues until the tie is broken).

At the end of the day, I think y'all outperformed me. It'd not have happened if it weren't for Sam, though. But... whatever.

I hope you didn't intend that to mean that this "FTX" thing could have been successful if not for one person. That's not how it works.

Looks like I chose poorly with my RB lineup this week. Smiley

It'd be funny if HHampuz wins against you without a QB Smiley

She’s literally getting paid to promote a money laundering operation and trying to question other people’s motives for participating here… Total scum. Remove the signature if you want to sit on a high horse about why people post here, otherwise you just come off as a hypocrite that doesn’t want to see anyone else earn pennies for helping provide value to the forum while you get paid to spam here in order to help criminals launder their funds.

If it's spam then report my posts to moderators instead if this chickenshit third-party "I pretend that I don't read your posts" response.

It's quite telling that your argument for getting paid as a merit source is a bouquet of fallacies. Luckily there are many truly dedicated merit sources who don't share your mercantile approach to the forum and are willing to "provide value" without necessarily expecting bitcoins in return.
