542  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Unofficial Gcash Thread/ Discussion on: February 02, 2024, 05:22:17 AM

Grin

Both weigh-in below 168 lbs, Munguia and Ryder at 167.8 lbs, but it's good to see them making the weight.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJAY-koXMCw

Munguia though looks fresh maybe because of his youth, but he is still the favorite in this fight. I wanted to see Munguia vs Berlanga though, I mean this two has been calling each other for quite sometime now and they are young that's why this fight is going to be equal though.

But let's see if Jaime can pass his big test against Ryder first.

Munguia was able to get the TKO win against a fighter who went the distance with Canelo. If Canelo doesn't fight Benavidez, then Munguia seems like the next best option. Munguia is never in a boring fight so I am sure against Canelo it will be a slugfest. Munguia's porous defense is his biggest weakness and would probably be his downfall against Canelo. It is still a good matchup on paper with potential to be fight of the year.

Hehe this is hype. It appears the storyline for him is he knocked out the fighter who went to the decision against Canelo and it is also being implied that he has a chance vs. Canelo. However, who is this Munguia? Does beating John Ryder make him the next challenger against the super middleweight champion? This is head shaking.

I mean if you haven't followed Jaime's rise to fame, he is supposedly the next big thing, the next hype in the middleweight/super middle weight. Maybe you can add the storyline that he is under GBP and Oscar is hell bent on having Munguia fight his once cash cow in Canelo. They separated in a bad note and Oscar might be mad for Canelo for dumping him.

Also, according to some articles, Canelo will avoid David Benavidez again and he might give the fans their wish. Munguia will certainly be a much less difficult fight than Benavidez.

And the front running as per reports is Jermall Charlo vs Canelo Alvarez next. All in-house money for PBC again. But obviously there are fans that will not like this fight, as we wanted him to face David Benavidez, but Canelo is clearly ducking him.
544  Economy / Speculation / Re: BitcoinETF approval will possibly cause much bigger jump than most people expect on: January 31, 2024, 10:52:26 PM
Exactly what regulation is forcing Blackrock (or any other institution for that matter) to actually back the etf units being created as a result of the demand inflow for ETFs imminently? How do we prove that the demand to date is owned 1:1 in BTC by Blackrock and other institutions? Is there a time requirement for the demand to be reflected? Every quarter after an audit of holdings perhaps? (Genuine question ... I don't think there is one, but I haven't taken a deep enough dive into the paperwork yet).

I believed this is something everyone overlooked. I thought that the ETF would be denied on the grounds that demand/holdings backing etf demand were not transparent, and yet here we are once again, just like 08'....investment vehicles that are built on opaque foundations. I'm sure this is going to end terribly for Bitcoin ETF buyers, and remind the Bitcoin ecosystem why Bitcoin was created in the first place.

I'm not saying it will cause permanent detriment but this is sure a new ball game that I am sure will bring new volatility that will confuse the crypto world over the next 1-3 years.

In my opinion, we should never trust the institutions. It's part of the reasons Bitcoin exists after all, right? If one thinks that institutionally backed spot ETFs will send imminently send Bitcoin to the moon, one may want to rethink the rationale behind that thought...

Institutional investment companies can provide a BTC address with their holdings for transparency. Just like Bitwise did. The fact the most aren't doing it is very suspicious. Maybe they're afraid their schemes and/or tactics will be visible to the public? They could be manipulating the market under our noses.

I thought that they have released their Bitcoin addresses to the public? But I could be wrong though. Nevertheless, we know that everything can be seen in blockchain, and it's just a matter of time that those investors or speculators will have to find out what is the addresses of this big institutions and then track where in it going, if there is manipulation as we have suspected from almost $49k->$39k and then buying spree.

With BlackRock beginning to accumulate a large portion of BTC's supply, we should expect the worse. It's likely BTC will become centralized in the future. People are blind enough to believe spot ETFs are a good thing just because it promises to boost market prices in the long run. But what they don't realize is that this move gives more power to the government. The future of Bitcoin is uncertain, so we can only hope for the best.  Undecided

The argument is that Bitcoin could be seen as legitimate by other government, groups and those who are skeptics on it. With Bitcoin Spot ETF approved by no less than the US SEC, it give credibility to it and who knows, who or what entities are going to invest their huge money on it. It's that Bitcoin could really be defined as asset per se with this approval. So it has pros and cons and it depends on how we see it.
545  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Jerwin Ancajas vs Takuma Inoue - February 24 on: January 31, 2024, 10:36:50 PM
The fight is back-on, new schedule is February 24. It was cancelled in November as Takuma Inoue suffered a rib injury. But he has fully healed now and has pushed for a February date with our very own Ancajas.

Do you think that the long wait might affect Ancajas in negative or positive?

Jerwin is still the underdog in this fight, almost 3:1.
546  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: January 31, 2024, 09:54:17 PM
I'll also go with the Nuggets at ML here, I'm surprised that they are a huge underdog against OKC, maybe Jokic will play, maybe not, but I will put a line on them.

My bet last night, over 225.5 on games between the Bulls and the Raptors, too bad that in the 4th quarter, Bulls can't score a basketball and in the end, the totals for them is 225. My bets though on Knicks is an easy win as they are in a winning streak, the longest for now.
547  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 31, 2024, 09:32:50 PM
I honestly didn't expect Bulls to lose last night but I must admit I've been underestimate Raptors so big that I had the impression they are one of the worst teams in NBA right now but clearly they are don't and I won't ignore them any longer.

I could also say this about Jazz but this team always had swings between great and bad games...

I don’t give the Raptors a ton of respect due to them not having a major star player and now seemingly willing to trade the best player they have… However, you can’t deny their record and that they’ve overperformed with their roster. That makes them a bit dangerous every night to gamblers who might not be familiar with how well they’re playing.

They are in the rebuilding phase, it's a new Raptors that we have seen right now, the last piece, Siakam was traded already. It was a great win for them in the road, Barnes is now their franchise player, they have a good defense but not sure if the current players though is enough for them to go to the playoffs.

Have some good games and bad nights as well, in short they are not that consistent. Perhaps we need to give them time to blend and found the right spot.

For the 3 point in the All Star, I do agree, it's one of the pinnacle of the break, we've seen legendaries etching their mark on that contest (who will forget Larry Bird raising his hands?). And so it's traditional already, and no need to change it. They don't need new ideas or twist, just stick to the old school format and fans will appreciate it.
548  Local / Pamilihan / Re: NBA discussion, betting and etc. on: January 31, 2024, 02:26:33 PM

550  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Two casinos with Curaçao license but with different restricted territories list on: January 30, 2024, 11:26:04 PM
What kind of Curacao license did you see? Because according to this,

Quote
There are 2 types of licenses in Curacao: master and sub-license. However, each of them covers all types of games and allows you to officially operate in the jurisdiction. The only difference is that the master licensee has the right to open sub-licenses to others.

And from what I observed looking at some of the most crypto based casinos, they got this kind of license.

551  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When I'm emotional, I LOSS! on: January 30, 2024, 10:36:22 PM
Hey, guys! Are any of you emotional gamblers who often lose because you can't control what you feel? When you lose, do you tend to double your bets or chase your losses, driven by a pride that can't accept defeat? Do you consider this a problem? If so, has anyone here been able to solve this kind of problem themselves, and if yes, how did you do it?

I have this problem, and based on my personal experience, I find that sometimes I get challenged but not too greedy because I don't have a problem quitting when I'm winning. However, when I'm losing, that's where my struggle lies.

That's why I shared it here; I feel that some of you may experience the same challenges, and I'd love to hear your ideas or experiences on how to win this battle so we can enjoy gambling.

It's more on self-control, even if others are already at least in the positive side, meaning that they are winning, still they are going to double their bet no matter what. In your case, perhaps it's greedy, but you want to chase your losses and you don't want to accept defeat that's why you double your bet and in the end, losing it and then the cycle continues.

So you have to practice what others have said, self-control, learn to stop when you are on top, or quit and think that it's not your lucky day. And then relax, take gambling away from your mind and maybe comeback and try your luck.
552  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 30, 2024, 01:38:31 PM

Yes, I do agree though, mandatories are not going to be enforce by this governing bodies, specially with Canelo's star power right now. He can choose who and where he is fighting and those bodies are just going to nod and say yes.

But in any case, it will be a good fight and maybe it could be the biggest for Canelo. Instead of fighting other names, it was reported that Munguia sold out the tickets in Phoenix more than what Benavidez can do in his own city.

Can we now call boxing is corrupt. Because mandatories are suppose to be mandatories, no special treatment or excuses. Canelo is really a cash-cow, very popular in boxing and promoters are making a lot of money when he's fighting. So they like to protect him, at least give him a fight that looks big and competitive but in reality he could control the fight. His mistake was when he moved up in weight think he could beat Bivol but he failed, and I think he won't move up again or challenge Bivol in a rematch as he is enjoying on the current division he is reigning, but he has to choose his opponent wisely.

I think it's no secret that boxing is one sports when corruption is prevalent, and I think boxing fans here would agree that one of the most corrupt is WBC under the Sulaiman's. They have been in control of this organization for years and not have enforce the so called mandatory and they allow their champion to call the shots. Canelo several years ago in the WBC convention says that he wants to go to CW and challenge  Ilunga Makabu and they voted unanimously.

But the fight didn't happen as he might think that it is too much weight for him although the fight is going to be on a catchweight. But then again, he lost to Bivol already and now going back to his comfortable weight class and looking to continue to dominant but I don't think that he is willing to fight Mexicans in this division, Benavidez adn Munguia.

554  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 29, 2024, 10:00:32 PM
It is coming, the Golden State Warriors are looking for trades or any offers for Wiggins, CP3 and even Klay.

The first two are fine since Wiggins are really looking for a transfer and CP3 didn't stayed there for long. But for Klay? Okay, there is nothing he can do with it as it's always been Steph that they're eyeing for.

But we've seen some comments when Steph said if he's gonna be transferred, he'd like to do it with the Hornets.

Anyone could be traded, only Steph is safe with the Warriors. Wiggins name have been popping up in the last couple of months, Klay was reported didn't sign for the extension when he was offered so he might want to test the trade. Even Draymond is also being considered to be traded as well.

And we are nearing the trade deadline this February, so I wouldn't be surprised if any of those name are not going to be a Warrior mid February. If it involved their big 3 then the Golden State Warriors era are over and they will have to rebuilt around Curry next season, but it's going to be very tough.
555  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bitcoin, pangalawa sa pinakamalaking ETF. Nilagpasan ang Silver on: January 29, 2024, 09:27:04 PM

556  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Older men vs Younger boys in gambling, Which enjoys Gambling for fun the more? on: January 29, 2024, 09:05:05 PM
The younger ones should enjoy gambling the most since they have the time, efforts, understanding and knowledge about gambling than the senior ones, but they may not have the experience and money like the older people have while gambling, it is very important to also know that gambling has no gender inequality, everyone is entitled to play and enjoy gambling as long as they are willing not take the conditions involved for winning or loosing.

In terms of understanding though, isn't it should be the older ones (assuming they have been playing for many years), have the advantage? There are people who have money at a young age as well, so they can go and continue to play and life the lifestyle, a flamboyant, young millionaire.

Or can we say though that we can't generalized enjoyment? It's going to be very different for everyone, our experiences might be different and vary including ages and personal circumstances as far as gambling experience goes?

But Canelo might have to hide on his previous excuse of "not fighting another Mexican".  Grin

I would love to see Munguia vs Berlanga first though, As Canelo as his 3 fight deal with PBC, with 2 fights remaining, Benavidez could be the next or Morrell. But in case of Munguia him and Berlanga would be a rivalry if Canelo says no.

Berlanga will have a fight against Padraig McCrory in February 24th, and if he wins impressive, then Hearn and Oscar could sit down and this is a Mexican vs Puerto Rican, which has a storied rivalry in Boxing history.
