561  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer s19k_pro - no sd card slot? on: October 16, 2023, 10:14:43 PM
I guess he meant the microSD card slot.
But its a bit confusing for me aswell.

He means Micro USB, the Amlogic C76 A113D has no Sd/Tf card slot, only a Micro USB, regardless, as Phill mentioned above, the k version is not supported by BraiinOS yet.

I also have a paranoia over the letter K in any Antminer Bitmain makes, this letter brings back sad memory of the S9k, I think k stands for KABOOM!, Bitmain collects all the bad chips and stick them on all the bad control boards they have and ship them to us like hot potatoes.
562  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: New control board for s17pro not working. on: October 16, 2023, 05:52:13 PM
down load angry ip or advanced ip

search all your ips

typically your range may be

192.168.1.1-255

or

192.168.0.1-255

or

192.168.2.1-255

you will get a list of every piece of gear you are running

just search each one by one

you should find the s17 that way.

Most home routers DHCP's table would start with 192.168.1.2, but some will have say the first hundred reserved for static ips and dhcp table starts from 192.168.1.101, also, despite not being very common, some routers come with DHCP disabled.

I have also seen many people screw up the details of the miner network page by setting a different subnet, this will make you lose the miner and you would need to reset the miner either by hard reset or sdcard.
563  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: New control board for s17pro not working. on: October 16, 2023, 12:33:58 AM
So now idk what is wrong is it the dhcp. Not sure what the dhcp tab did in the antminer tool....

DHCP does not belong to your antminer -- it belongs to your router, when you set the miner to DHCP it means the miner will have to request an IP address from your router, if for whatever reason your router does not do that you can't access the miner.

So first thing first, make sure your router has DHCP enabled and that the search range on the Bitmain tool covers the entire DHCP table, or even better, get the miner's IP using the router itself.
564  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Solo Vs. Pool mining on: October 15, 2023, 02:21:42 PM
I was just showing with a smaller sample set that unless you are very very very..and about 100 more very lucky.

Indeed, and to make things even more "saddening" we need to explain to those who don't know that with LTC things are A LOT easier, and here is how:

LTC hashrate is 800TH, so 4 L3s get you 0.002TH which is 0.00025% of the total hashrate
BTC hashrate is  475000000TH, 4*S9s gets you 56TH which is 0.00001%

In order to have the same chances you would need 1200TH which is 85*S9, but then also, BTC average block time is 10 mins whereas in LTC it's 2.5 mins, so it's more like you need 340 * S9s to match the number of blocks with the L3 scenarios, of course, BTC blocks are worth a lot more, but then again, even with 340*S9s your chances of hitting a block are pretty slim, let alone 1 or 2.

Quote
Or, as I once described it to someone, it's not lottery mining, it's lottery mining using lottery tickets that people already threw out since they did not win and you are going through that pile of old tickets hoping to find the one that was a winner that someone missed.

That's a brilliant explanation indeed, might want to add this part to it "The lottery organizer is getting very old and may die at any second".

565  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2023 Diff thread now opened. on: October 15, 2023, 01:55:47 PM
Hmm, let's assume this jump is about cooling, would it make sense at these prices to sacrifice efficiency for small gains? And where is that whole extra power coming from? Cause assuming most of the US miners are on Foundry , then Texas is not the one to blame for the spike.
Of course, I'm asking this in general not your case, I'm sure those guys are making a completely different accounting sheet.

I can't talk about the efficiency aspect but I know for sure that some farms don't size their cooling according to summer heat as that would mean a lot of initial investment which isn't going to be fully utilized, so what they do is; size the cooling according to what the climate is say 80% of the year, and then during those 1-2 months they would just underclock their gears.

Regardless, I have to agree with Phil's speculation here, I mean, how on earth are you going to deploy new fresh 28EH in 12 days? it doesn't make sense, say Bitmain launched a dozen of their unsold or new gears, how much is that going to be? besides, I always seem to lean more towards the fact that BTC will likely make more profit by "not raising" the difficulty and selling their gears at a higher price than  mining to raise difficulty which will eventually bring down the value of their mining gears.

So if this is sort of "testing" that Bitmain is doing, the hashare should vanish in the coming epochs, if it's more of a cooling effect, then it will stay, but thinking that the world has magically managed to deploy 28EH out of nowhere is hard to believe.
566  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Solo Vs. Pool mining on: October 15, 2023, 12:26:49 PM
From 1 Jan 2019 to today they have found 10 blocks on LTC Pool
The blocks would have generated about 150 LTC in total (less but using round numbers and quick math)
They have gotten paid about 90 LTC in total from the pool. (OUCH)

I know you understand this, but worth explaining to those who do not.

For 4 miners and 4 years this is still a very lucky streak, when people talk about rewards being equal in the long run that long run is usually misunderstood, long period means infinity, with infinite time even a single miner would end up finding the same number of blocks it would have got mining on a pool but we all know that no miner can run for infinite period.

Also, it is worth mentioning that 4 L3s on LTC have a higher chance of hitting a block than 40 S*9 on BTC, probably even higher than 400 or 4000 S9 (on the phone can't do accurate math), so the variance on LTC is way less than that on BTC, on BTC to make things easier to understand, 99.9% of people mining with a few gears will never hit a single block during the lifespan of those miners.

568  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Don't Stand With Either Palestine Or Israel on: October 14, 2023, 12:23:37 AM
it's status isn't recognized by about 25% of UN members. You can argue about it, but telling that Ukraine and Palestine situation is same is bullshit.

The majority of the world recognizes Palestine as a sovereign state, so what is your argument here? but then again, even if we were to assume that the 138 countries that recognize it matter less than the 55 countries that don't and agree with your logic, are you saying you think it's okay for Israel to invade Palestine just because (it's only recognized by 138 countries)? does this stand still if China invaded Taiwan which happened to be recognized by only 13 countries.?

The difference here is that the West is not fine with China taking Taiwan, or Russia invading Ukraine, but it's okay for Israel to invade Palestine, there is no difference between Ukraine and Palestine, it only exists in the media that you have been watching since you were born, the reality is, the only difference is the "interest" of the collective west, for the Palestinians who were kicked out of their home which they owned for decades and so did their parents before Israel came into existence have the exact same right to defend themselves as the Ukrainians do -- so you saying these two are different is just the "nice" way of saying Palestinians shouldn't fight back while the Ukrainians should, because we hate Russia and love Israel.

Quote
So, if I call Hamas as terrorists, it automatically means that I defend Israel.

It doesn't mean you are defending them, but when you mention Hamas you say "terrorists" and when you mention the Israeli army, you don't, it's obvious that you don't think they are terrorists because the legacy media does not categorize them as such, despite the fact that you did mention that they are committing genocide, you just don't think they deserve to be called terrorists, but Hamas does, this logic is flawed, but to make a long story short, by your standards and since it was you calling Hamas terrorists, let me ask you one last question -- do you by any means think that the Israeli army and Netanyahu's government terrorists?  Cheesy
569  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Don't Stand With Either Palestine Or Israel on: October 13, 2023, 01:25:44 AM
I wouldn't compare this conflict with war between Russia and Ukraine. It's much more complicated and have deeper historical background.

Why, because it doesn't fit well within your western bullshit? Roll Eyes

Russia vs Ukraine goes way back in history, the Russians claim it's their land due to "history", it's up to you if you don't want to compare the two conflicts but they are the same, you have two sovereign states (Ukraine and Palestine) and two invaders (Russia and Israel) the main difference is that Russia invaded Crimea in 2014 while Israel Invaded Palestine in 1948 and they keep expanding the invasion day by day with the support of your tax money.

So how is it okay for Ukraine to defend itself but it's not for Palestine? you need a truck full of hypocrisy to swallow that contradiction.

Quote
Both sides have done terrible things and war that we have now was inevitable.

The Ukrainians are also doing terrible things to the Russians, so by your standards -- they shouldn't do that, they should just sit back and wait for the Russians to take their land.

Quote
And in all these years whole Gaza was built on hate towards Israel.

There is no such thing as build on hate, you need reasons to hate, seeing someone invade your country, take your land, kill your people, will automatically make you hate them, this is how life works, good luck convincing the Ukriain future generation who are yet to be born not to hate Russia.

Quote
On the other hand, people in Gaza selected Hamas terrorist to be their legitimate representatives.

What is your definition of "terrorists" is it the killing of children? Israel has killed far more children, is it the number of buildings destroyed? Israel destroyed an order of magnitude more buildings than Hamas, so how can you call Hamas terrorists and not the Israeli army? you are comparing an invader to someone who is protecting their country, if you can't be fair and call things as they are you should at least not be a hypocrite, the least you could do is call both of them terrorists.

571  Local / العربية (Arabic) / Re: دعم غزة (فلسطين الحرة) on: October 12, 2023, 08:24:10 PM
572  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2023 Diff thread now opened. on: October 12, 2023, 01:15:35 PM
For a moment I thought MW, probably that's a way too, how many reactors can you bring online in 14 days after all?

Anyhow, the forum was down, I lost my thoughts since then, really bad coffee, the math is simply not with me right now but
105% is ~2116 blocks, we need roughly 100 blocks right now we're here:

Quote
Latest Block:   811836  (7 minutes ago)
Current Pace:   107.4505%  (1405 / 1307.58 expected, 97.42 ahead)

so for the next 4 days, we need a pace of less than 0.70% of the previous.
Assuming it is caused by luck we need a bit of unluck too but the block time for the last days doesn't look like something out of the ordinary that pushed it, in reverse order in24h interval time block time is 9, 8.8, 9.73, 8.4, 9, 10.2, 10.9, 8.7

At least it's helping that damn mempool stay low

Oh and btw, Antpool is at 33% for the last 24h, 27% for 1 week and 24% for 1 month, so...we can start pointing fingers.

Hard to do any guess work in regards to power consumption, you just can't tell what models they deploy, is it a fresh instlation or replacing S17s / S19 / M20s / M30s with S19 xp, S21, M50s or M60s, for all we know we could generate 30EH without adding a single unit of power.

But ya, pace is slwoing down a little, maybe not below 5% as I expected, hopefully 6% of slightly below, one thing we know for sure, anyone who is above 6 cents and not using sub 20w/th is already in deep shit.
573  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2023 Diff thread now opened. on: October 12, 2023, 05:39:44 AM
Better keep things in M unit instead of Exahash so 7% of the current  435M th is 30M that translates to roughly 150,000 miners that do 200th, i highly doubt that this is the case, we will drop below 5% in a frw days, 7% is unrealistic IMO.

575  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S19 95TH setup on: October 11, 2023, 12:16:21 AM
I was told that I need a separate line of 220V, however I was thinking to get a step-up trafo from 110 to 220V having 5000W. Is this OK?

You could, but I would advice against it, there would some energy loss in this process, better to install 220v.

Quote
- I understood that the antminer comes w/o any power cables, so I have to get 2 power cables (similar like those for PCs) from what I could see on its picture, correct?

It's called C13, ya it's the same plug as the one you use on your PC, but sure thing is, it isn't the same rating, you are going to need each wire to be at least 1.5mm square thick.

Quote
- what software do I need in order to have it mine properly?

Nothing, just your Chrome browser or whatever you already use.

Quote
- in order to configure it, is it possible to connect it to a monitor and a keyboard?

No, you use your laptop / PC, write the miner IP address on the browser, and you will be inside the miner to do the pool configuration.

Quote
- I saw on a tutorial video that the miner needs 2 cables, so would I also need a UPS to plug those cables?

You mean PDU? you can, or you can just get the Y split cable that phill posted above, the only issue with that Y spilt is that your breaker/socket need to handle the entire amp draw whereby using 2 single cables the load is divided.

Quote
- as sometimes most of tutorial videos are pretty old regarding pools, and software used, is it possible to get a link towards a more recent video?

Nothing has changed ever since, all you need is pool URL and a worker name.

Quote
- do I need a cold wallet? I have right now 2 wallets on Crypto and Shakepay, however I understood that more securely would be a cold wallet, so which one would be a good one to use?

Your mining payouts will be sent to whatever address to enter in the pool website, they don't know/care what address is that, which wallet to use is off-topic and should be taken to Wallets sections

576  Bitcoin / Hardware / The new M60s Whatsminer on: October 10, 2023, 04:22:32 AM
The M60s was announced a while ago, it's advertised as 1x.w/th (anything between 10w/th to 19.99w/th), we are likely going to get our hands on one of these pretty soon (the coming few days), we already know it's 18.5w/th at 182TH which is a huge improvement over the M50s

There will be a water-cooled version of it which does 360TH at about 20w/th.

Will keep you updated.

This is climbing really fast, of course it has to do this after an epoch adjustment of nearly nothing, the 2-3% increase has become the bare minimum for these spikes, and I don't see it slowing down until the halving hits, I also noticed that Antpool hashrate increased in the past couple months, contrary to what I believed would be the case since they started imposing KYC now, so it can't be KYC = more clients, I am guessing Bitmain are heavily mining BTC with their new gears or the hydros which they failed to sell.

Did you confirm it's a dead PSU not just a fan or something? anyway

If it's one of the miners you bought from me, I will try to get it repaired or replaced, I texted you on telegram requesting the serial number of the PSU, don't rush to buy another one just yet.
579  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Heating a Space via Mining on: October 09, 2023, 12:21:23 AM
My guess is that BM just does not care because multi-MW transformers are *not* what one would call a 'standard in-stock item'. They are made-to-order and that being the case the mega farms just spec theirs for 400v.

True, but that does not change the fact that potential clients with regular U.S 460v would find it hard to justify the extra cost and time needed to set up new transformers just for the hydro, I mean I see MicroBT tweaked thier gears to run on 277v just for U.S clients, I expected Bitmain would do the same given that the U.S is the largest mining hub today.
580  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: DON'T mine to Antpool -- KYC imposed. on: October 08, 2023, 01:24:03 PM
I got my pool payout a few hours ago, but the KYC promt keeps showing everytime I login, this could be due to one of two:

1- The dust has been there before they starting imposing their stupid KYC so they allowed me to withdraw
2- They are not serious about it "YET".

I think they have been forced to follow some U.S stupid shit such as banning countries that are sanctioned by the UN aka the U.S such as Iran, Syria and all the none US friends, this pool has turned out worse than centralized exchanges, my guess, at one point they would start taking shit seriously and you won't be able to withdraw anything without KYCing yourself.

So if you have a considerable amount of dust, you might want to hurry up to hit the 0.005 BTC threshold and leave antpool, if the dust you got is not worth it, you should just leave the pool now.

I would also urge users who have Antpool as their second or third pool to switch to another pool, your funds on Antpool will very likely be locked unless you fully expose your identity and address to Shitmain.
