563  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A very strange dust attack or an attempted robbery? on: September 11, 2023, 05:02:32 PM
The best practice is to compare the full address rather then just checking the initials and final words of your address

That's the best approach every time one sends money.
But in this very case an even better approach is to not reuse address. Nowadays all the modern wallets are HD. It's safer to pick a completely different address from the wallet. This way the new address will probably not be similar with the attacker address and avoiding reuse is a good practice anyway.
564  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do we benefit in lies in forum on: September 10, 2023, 12:18:29 PM
It depends a lot on the topic.
Some are wrong because they were misled or have been believing others' lies.
Some have their own agenda.
Some want to see how many people they can fool/want to feel smart by insulting our intelligence.
And yes, some are merit fishing.

Probably I've even missed some categories.

OP, keep in mind that the forum is like in real life: not everyone deserves your time. Use the ignore feature well.

566  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: September 09, 2023, 05:17:32 AM
I don't understand why this post gets merits.

Because some people have found it useful.

Because this definitely is not a rest. Hope everything is alright.

While it's nice of you care about him, you may be overthinking it.
I can tell my example: in the first months of this year I've got more and more busy irl (especially due a new job irl) and I've obviously got much more silent.
Yeah, it (strangely) partly overlapped with CM demise. So?

So there can be - I don't say it is so or not - that he got busy irl.
And it can be - again, I don't say it is or not - that he decided to take a break to avoid unnecessary attention (on the forum and beyond) due to Chipmixer's legal problems.

Unless he wants to say anything about it, we will probably not know and making suppositions (and waves!) is also not helpful.

Now it's not a problem. But it has the potential to either fuel even bigger investments in mining hardware, either to keep the price low/lower for longer, since it means bigger revenue for miners.
And on long(er) term this may have interesting consequences (which we may see only in some 3 more years, like high difficulty vs new crypto winter).
568  Other / Archival / Re: [BIG LIST] Crypto Debit Cards on: September 05, 2023, 07:43:56 PM
By the way, is Wirex still a thing?

Wirex has troubles in Europe; their card license got revoked and they seem to have real problems finding a replacement. European cards don't work for some months now.
So somehow Wirex seems to do big steps into becoming "a thing" of the history, at least in Europe.
569  Other / MultiBit / Re: MultiBit classic on: September 05, 2023, 07:40:32 PM
any help

MultiBit classic used to have the option to export the private key in clear, I've done that myself many years ago.
However, if you've tried that address on a block explorer and it's empty, you may have moved your coins elsewhere.

As said, if you want help, ask in a place that's not under Archival and give more details, maybe the address (it's safe, but it's bad move for privacy) for look up.

Unfortunately, the word DEFI is more like a complete joke in crypto space today,

Crypto is for many a way to make money, and preferably easy money.
Like many other things (I remember ICO), DEFI was used as buzz word by many, the term DEFI was misused willingly or not...(But without DEFI buzz word who would buy this or that shitcoin?)

Don't go by buzz words. Take a close look and use services that really deserve your attention. And when you see the first signs of lies or fake advertising, turn away from that.
Yes, it's difficult. Yes, you'll make mistakes too since there's no manual on what to do. This is how experience is gained.
573  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Prime Trust's bankruptcy due to forgotten seed/private key on: September 01, 2023, 06:03:16 PM
one of the main reason why they fell is because its owners have lost the control to their keys. Yes, you've heard that right, they've lost the seed phrase of their wallet

Well, it's also very easy to claim the keys or seed was lost/misplaced.
I won't say the loss is for real or not, it's also hard to prove anything. The only proof could be if one of those owners (or a random employee maybe!) suddenly disappears (goes under the radar for a great retirement).

You know, one would expect for a fintech company they'd use multisig wallet, to make not only safer, but also more fair if there are more owners, but meh...

I was surprised to see +1,330$ in bitcoin and I quickly searched the internet

I was somewhat surprised too - although I do expect some nice prices after the summer ends - but I had no time to research when I've seen it.
So this topic simply gave me the info - and the great news - easily.
So the topic is useful (thanks OmegaStarScream). Just maybe it could have been worthy for Press, but that's its sole "problem" imho.
576  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Scalping on: August 25, 2023, 06:50:35 PM
so to what extent can we say someone is being greedywith his/her trade even time?? Or leverage

Imho greedy is when he risks more money he can afford to lose. As you can see, the number can vary greatly from person to person.
And from what I've seen, the most inexperienced tend to lose the most because they are affected by sentiments, they don't follow the basic rules or simply treat trading like some sort of gambling.

578  Economy / Economics / Re: Blackrock invest in ukraine on: August 25, 2023, 06:39:58 PM
Any kind of war is always wrong.

Good. Now we're talking.

America attacking Libya was wrong. America attacking Seriya was wrong. America attacking Afghanistan was wrong. America attacking Yemen was wrong. America attacking Iraq and other gulf countries was WRONG.
...
I am not influenced by any propaganda brother! America indeed influenced the Russia - Ukraine war and sparked the flame by inviting Ukraine in NATO.

While at least some of your examples are correct, I hope that we can agree that Russia has an equally impressive list of wars they've provoked or kept going. Both are very far from being innocent.
And on the invasion of Ukraine, no matter what USA or NATO did, it's still Russia that has started it. I mean, come on, how on earth can anybody sane claim they are defending themselves when they are actually attacking their neighbors in the neighbors' own country?! Even more, Russia did the first move in Crimeea, you seem to forget that. Plus, you also seem to forget that Russia has prepared the invasion with an energy war against Europe (halting the supply now and then to affect the prices to feed the pre-war effort and in a hope to blackmail the other countries that they'll cut the gas supply entirely).

Now with BlackRock's investment it's just more evident.

As already said, there are companies that try to make their entry no matter who and when will win the war.
But yes, here you do have a point, USA has its habbit of selling both bullets and bandages. And now it's much more visible than in the 80s.
579  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I think we need to start asking people if...... on: August 25, 2023, 06:29:07 PM
Why not spread the idea of Bitcoin among people you trust without a doubt. I know he woudn't tear down my house trying to find my seed(s) (and he sure would have to).

Well, as I said, I've done that many years ago. And not once. And clearly with more people than the two examples. (If any of them have invested.. they've never told me.)
But now.. there's nobody left I can trust and I didn't already tried to spread the idea.

So your point is correct, but I no longer can much on that.

And since we both agree that we should do this only with people we trust, I guess that we can also agree that this exquisite list cannot contain any random plumber we hire  Wink
580  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I think we need to start asking people if...... on: August 25, 2023, 03:38:35 PM
I tried to promote - long ago - bitcoin to friends and colleagues. Most have dismissed it almost instantly. Some few still remember of that. One envies me. Another one still tries - after so many years - to explain me the price is manipulated and it's all a scam.

But nowadays the paradigm has changed and many people - including me - prefer to not brag about bitcoin, no matter how big or small the amount is, to avoid unnecessary hassle with burglars or worse.
So... yeah..  Sad
