581  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in 12 coins on: December 16, 2017, 09:34:56 PM
Hi guys im new here and this is my first post, i just invested in 12 coins in some @august and the Rest in November

My coins are ( Ripple-Iota-Cardano-Stellar Lumens-Verge-Pivx-Dogecoin-Btc-Stratis-Gulden-Civic-Siacoin)

My goal is to hold them until 2020! You guys think that is smart or should i take some of my coins end of 2018 and let the Rest just sit for more years?

Thanks in advance!!

Not sure why DogeCoin, I mean its a funny coin but I can't really imagine anyone considering this as a serious candidate for their portfolio.

Other than that it seems alright to me, but you might want to check back every Quarter atleast and check up on the status of these coins. I don't know much about IOTA but I hear a lot of things about that its not useable, centralized etc plus the whole thing with microsoft is fake news according to some sources. So it might be smart to atleast check up on all the facts surrounding these coins before engaging into a longterm commitment with them.
582  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Electroneum - Britains first crypto opinion on: December 16, 2017, 08:41:26 PM
I know that many people are really into this coin, and I respect that. However, I am trying to be sceptical, especially when somebody is offering a new "revolutionary coin" that will dominate the market. There are really a lot of those kind of promises in this industry, so you have to be extra careful because of that.

Personally, I do not believe in mobile mining - maybe they will prove me wrong. Nevertheless, I think it is a buzzword. It won't be economically beneficial enough. My phone is getting hot and has significantly lower battery time even without mining anything on it.

What is more, after reading the whitepaper my impression is that there is a lot of nice formatting and marketing talk. Yet, there is very very little real content there and no description of valid business model.

In current state of the project, those are a No-Go for me.

Well there's more than that. There's also getting electroneum integrated with mobile apps as payment method for special features and being able to be transferable from one app to the other incentivizing developers to integrate this coin. Also something with gambling but i'm not aware of the details on that.
583  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Resource Based Economy on: December 16, 2017, 02:52:28 PM
Was sure I heard of this before, then I see it. ''Venus project'' unfortunately it assumes that man is not inherently greedy by its nature, that man is not selfish. It's a cool theory, but I think thats what it will always be, a theory. Also some places are just naturally more abundant than others. Take Japan they basically got nothing and have to import everything. It's like the idea of unconditional giving/sharing, works only if you assume it goes both ways. But likely someone will take advantage of another before we see peace on earth.

People naturally compare themselves to others, their productivity and welfare. This theory doesn't account for any of the psychological factors which capitalism actually does. It recognizes that we are competative and tries to leverage that to get the most out of humans. I don't necessarily agree with capitalism but I also don't necessarily agree with communism. All these theories are great on paper, capitalism, communism, resource based economy. But practically they seldom work out well because being human is more complex than economics and ideology.

Japan certainly has many good things to offer, like any other country. Everybody has at least something that someone needs.

Sure, they're tech savvy but its one of the reasons I pointed out. Looks great on paper, works horribly when practiced out. Just like everything. I think the best thing humanity had ever going in terms of politics, economy and hierarchy was tribal life, everything after that went downhill.

How do you see that things will happen in the future if this is not a possible solution?

To its logical conclusion; humanity self-destructs. I think we are all well aware of the vast dangers that threaten us the coming decades because we're exploiting the earth like we do. But does any country really strive for a change in that matter? No, instead we have visionairies like Elon Musk who put their own hard earned money into these projects and then governments still have the audacity to intervene and stomp on it. We got some G-20 that can't ever really get to an agreement because its political and economical interests are to different and when they do its never enough.

Humanity is self destructive it always has been, it wants to sacrifice its life to its country, it does drugs and alcohol, indulges itself in fast food (Obesity is a western world epidemic), it destroys nature and life for pleasure or profit, its at constant war with someone else. All of humanity just screams destruction.

There is no solution because people need to change themselves not the system. Capitalism and communism are both designed to increase productivity, both trough different ways while trying to find a balanced and equal society. That we as people can't make that happen is not a systems fault. And resource economy is just the same story all over again. You'd try a different system only to find out that you're supposed to change your own ways. Resource based economy isn't going to cure people of their greed, anger, lust and powerhunger. Thats up to people themselves to change. And thats why you will never have a perfect solution untill humanity itself realizes it is the solution, not external factors, methods, designs and systems to point us in some direction away from themselves.

But as I don't find it likely that the huge majority of humanity will realize this and then also act on this, I say it will self-destruct. Hope I'm wrong though, and i'll gladly admit it when I am.
584  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: "Look at the market cap not at the price." What does it mean? on: December 16, 2017, 03:08:23 AM
I see people saying to look at the coin's market cap and not it's price. What does it mean exactly? Can someone please explain this to me? and give me an example.

Also, how can we say or assume that coin is undervalued? What parameters do we use to make our assessment.

Thank you everybody.

Marketcap divided by oustanding shares, or in this case coins = price. Or, price*outstanding shares, in this case coins = marketcap.

Price is purely psychological, cheap and expensive is relative. Ripple is now 80 cents, which could seem cheap but given that it has a 30 billion marketcap is it really cheap? Well depends, how much can it still grow from that 30 billion marketcap? If you think it can still go 10x then 80 cents is a bargain. Same for Bitcoin, we hear price predictions from 100k-1m or even 5m so the current price which you may find, because ofcourse it is a huge number is expensive, but thats relative, if the price hits 1m I bet you wish you would have gotten in at 17k-18k w/e it is right now.

So lets say Bitcoin is the new gold, gold has a 7 trillion marketcap which means 7,6 trillion / 294 billion = 25. So if Bitcoin grows to the same cap of gold it can still go 25 times from its 294 billion marketcap which would put the price excluding new coins coming into circulation at a price of $425000 and given that Bitcoin also is being traded, exchanged for online goods or physical goods where as gold isn't and serves multiple functions it could even go well beyond that.

This is why marketcap is important to look at. It can give you an estimation of how big something could potentially grow whereas price doesn't and is a mere represenation what the markets expectation of the future is.

Undervalue:

What Warren Buffet does when he picks his shares is he goes trough the quarterly or yearly results of companies and looks at their revenue and profits, because he's very in tune with the market he can determine if a stock price is then corresponding its current returns, if it the dividends are actually quite high in contrast to its value on the market he buys it and thats how amassed great fortunes, or one of the ways. It is how he started.

In crypto not everything gives dividends but tokens and coins can play a crucial role in the ecosystem, and I can be completely off here. But imo Ethereum is overvalued for what it currently does, but in the same time you could say its undervalued but then you're going ahead of yourself with expectations of the future putting a lot of trust into Ethereum's team that they will tackle things such as scalability and smart contract utility, start legal processes for onboarding clients so that the community doesn't get hit by scams etc.

And well if you do think Ethereum is overvalued, then you can look at its competitors, what do they do what Ethereum doesn't? Such as that Waves has tokenomica a legal framework for ICOs being held on the Waves platform.

NEM has onboarded a lot of clients already who actively use NEM's technology but isn't really noticed by the market.

I called ADA on this very reasoning, the market ignored it at first, I personally was a bit skeptic at first but I went ahead and look into it and I quickly changed my mind, its now gone 10x from where I bought in. So when it comes to overvalued/undervalued its about being right a lot. And assuming from public sentiment ADA is now more ''officially accepted'' it seems. But there were a lot of people who said Supply is to big, how will it ever go up? Didn't take very long though for it go 5x and another 2x (10x).
Maybe I had some beginners luck with ADA, as I can't really tell you any other coin that is really undervalued currently for what it does, Waves has sharply appreciated and NEM also.

But just to give you a taste of what its about. Mostly, its about being right.

585  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Future of Electroneum on: December 14, 2017, 10:31:39 PM
I think the team needs to devote more time to marketing, revise perspective and roadmap, as it is still difficult to see great perspective for price growth, not to mention the expansion of the use and growth of the community…

Electroneum did quite a bit of marketing, they attracted investors who don't even hold Bitcoin or Ether. There's a ton of people being introduced trough electroneum to the crypto world.

Whats this coins problem? Just bots trading this on a constant floor level. Does this ever even slightly break out?
587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XRP Price Difference on Different Exchanges on: December 14, 2017, 06:49:43 PM
Does anyone know why the current price of XRP is so different depending on the exchange?

Gatehub is currently 0.53 USD
Bitstamp is currently 0.77699 USD

Usually they are within 0.01 USD.  Why such a huge disparity now?

Binance has this ''problem'' a lot of times too, it usually lags several minutes behind other exchanges.
588  Local / Nederlands (Dutch) / Re: Beste manier BTC omzetten naar bankaccount on: December 14, 2017, 06:47:14 PM

589  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: XRB - Raidblocks must buy??? on: December 14, 2017, 05:27:33 PM
I think its largely due to IOTA rushing in price and interest of companies in IoT technology. But to be fair, a ton of companies have been in IoT for a long time before IOTA and RaiBlocks and I really doubt these coins will be sustainable for the future. But RaiBlocks right now is just lifting on the speculative succes of IOTA.
590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Verge Dying? on: December 14, 2017, 05:25:26 PM
I was tempted to invest but didn't pull the trigger.

Do you think that it still has future and will recover?

Its up like 60% how's that dead?
591  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bubble burst on: December 14, 2017, 05:24:17 PM
+1 to this.

Although i think it will be bitcoin that bursts, not altcoins.

Those buying altcoins usually have a degree of knowledge as to their value, especially with tokens.
They see the worth of the project and most are buying based on value more than on hype.

Bitcoin has been bloated by hype. People who have no understanding of this market have begun buying bitcoin and when prices start to stagger and correct a bit they will all pull out, causing a crash.

Actually its more likely altcoins burst, Bitcoin has found its place. Now this doesn't go for all altcoins but a lot of them are ahead of themselves which is also why the bubble bursts with the tech boom, companies didn't generate the expected profits and the stocks were highly overvalued because of that. A lot of altcoins are idea's and not products or services that are in full service and with a large customer base, this is why a lot of coins will crash and burn in the coming few years.

If anything people are buying altcoins based on future expectations, these expectations however might not be correct and hence those coins will crash. So if you want to be safe invest in top altcoins cause those are further developed, but thats crypto high risk, high reward or in some cases low risk high reward since you don't need a lot of money to make extraordinary profits.
592  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Low budget Investment on: December 14, 2017, 04:10:43 PM
If you have a low budget like 250/300 $

in which altcoins would you invest?

I tought
  • IOTA
  • XEM
  • XLM
  • NEO
  • EOS
  • OMG

I personally think you should go with ADA, but ofcourse I hold this one myself. You can try this:

1. Invest into something ''safe'' such as ADA or XLM or EOS or XEM with 50-60%
2. Invest in something with a marketcap lower than 20 million with 40-50%

This way you can maximize your profit and if it goes wrong you will be balanced out by the generally more safe investments
593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bubble burst on: December 14, 2017, 04:07:49 PM
Hello guys, I've been around the crypto world for a year, and I've enjoyed good profits with the huge rise in altcoins (namely Neo, Waves, NeoGas and Litecoin) I had invested in. I decided to cash out in the last days since, for all good or bad, prices are TOO HIGH right now and I feel we are going to see a general correction in the next months, maybe not in BTC, but definitely in Altcoins. What are your feelings about this? When do you think we'll be back to the old "buy and HODL" times, when coins were at a decent price to be bought?

The size of this market as a whole is tiny, very small. It might be that some altcoins are in a bubble, but you first have to understand what a bubble really is and I think a lot of people miss that definition.
594  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rally seems running out of gas on: December 14, 2017, 03:07:32 PM
do you think it is time to sell?

I'm assuming you're talking about XRP and in which case I agree.
595  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bittrex disabling my account on: December 14, 2017, 02:08:15 PM
Bittrex has got the SEC on it, and with all the PnD and shady shit that happens I can't really blame them for taking these measures or else they risk going out of business.
596  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT/Ardor/Ignis on: December 14, 2017, 02:05:04 PM
You can also get IGNIS on a ratio of 2 NXT : 1 IGNIS (ICO) and there's an airdrop. Not understanding any of this previously I sold my NXT like a dumbass lol.
597  Economy / Economics / Re: South Korea considering cryptocurrency tax on: December 14, 2017, 02:19:04 AM
as expected, south korea nailed it, taxing bitcoin means more curious investors are eyeing this cryptocurrency thing, once bitcoin comes down to the mainstream, more and more investors will have balls to invest more because having it taxed means it is becoming legal, of course bitcoin is legal though , meaning, more exposed and blunt. by the way, we need someone to regulate bitcoin for us not come to a bubble if the price is uncontrollably high.

Isn't this already mainstream? https://www.cnbc.com/2017/12/11/people-are-taking-out-mortgages-to-buy-bitcoin-says-joseph-borg.html

Litecoin going to 400 and Ethereum going to 700 isn't because there was some flashy update
598  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Deepbrain ICO - NEO Smart Contract Adress = Script HASH? on: December 14, 2017, 02:01:52 AM
Hi

I want to make my first ICO TOKEN SALE

I got registered to deepbrain and got a proof Email with a contract adress looks like

The smart contract address is: 0xbcgtzhbbc5fe3738392a76cb0GDSA347294cf

My question:

Is this the adress I can enter at the Neo Wallet AREA Participate Token Sale - where the point

SCRIPT HASH is?

Or do i get another info before the countdown ends

Website: https://www.deepbrainchain.org/pc/tokenSaleEnglish.html

I really dont want to make a mistake and I am not sure if I have to do the step now or when the countdown ends

ANY HELP

Did someone do a Token Sale with NEO before ?

I would like to particpate in a NEO tokensale but I think you still can't withdraw 2.58 NEO for example and get only 2 NEO even if the fee is like .1 so i'm very hesitant about it.
599  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NAGA - Most promising ICO ive seen so far. on: December 14, 2017, 01:39:38 AM
Token Distribution (https://www.nagaico.com/)

    Pre-Sale - 5%
    Team Tokens - 17.5%
    Referral Program - 5%
    Legal & Advisory - 12.5%
    Main Sale - 50%
    M&A Reserve, Buyback & Options - 10%

Token Sale Target:    30,000,000 NGC
Max. Supply Limit Of Tokens Available For Sale: 220,000,000 NGC

So, Dev Team holds 180 Million NAGA, regardless if 220m tokens sell, it's looking like only 30-35million tokens are going to sell by the end of this ICO.

Seems legit, hold 85% of the supply and sell off 15% (30million tokens roughly) AND generate 30million USD in ICO funds. Holy shit! The greediest nastiest ICO I've ever seen. Not only did they false market to you retards by claiming they are only keeping 45% of the supply, but it turns out they always planned on keeping at least 80-85% of the total supply! This makes the premine hold larger than any airdrop ever created on BTT, or any airdrop that's even ongoing, and that's on airdrop territory.

And FYI, this is discounting the extra 5% for the referrals, which they have no mention on what they are going to do with those extras. Despite all that, just look at those fucking numbers above. I thought ICO was supposed to take care of all those expenses, when did ICO's start triple fucking dipping into profits? What the fuck has these forums come to?

I can't reasonably explain how pathetic that is. If they kept like fucking 10% of the total supply, we would of have a dynamite coin here.

This is the only thing i dislike about this coin, how hungry and selfish these motherfuckers are. Truly, we've never witnessed something on this magnitude.

Did something go horribly wrong with my math, because i can't believe what i'm seeing right now. Or are you all just mindless fucking retards... the more likely scenario is that this is a thread of puppets creating the illusion that there are investments into this garbage.

30M tokens is their target, there are however 220m for sale but no it will likely not reach that, *all unsold tokens will be burned according to their distribution graph.

You didn't even read what i wrote, i have no issue with the tokens getting burned, actually it makes this ICO worse. My argument is that THEY ARE HOLDING 180 Million Coins, they are SELLING 30 Million to you morons.

Its late here and I do realize what you were saying, hence I deleted my comment but you already replied :p

I cannot choose between Komodo and Verge...I am already invested in DeepOnion and I think
privacy coins are the coins of 2018. It probably would be correct to buy both coins

No, it would not be incorrect but if you really want to choose I'd go with Komodo. Not holding any myself but just a piece of friendly advice I suppose. Don't spam my inbox when Verge pumps lol
