641  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Newbie looking for some strategic advice on: August 29, 2019, 07:54:00 PM
It's really up to you and your personal preference in the end. The strategies you've listed can all potentially be profitable if done correctly, but everyone's trading style is different and you won't really know what you're best at until you try. I'd also agree that your third strategy's likely not going to work as well as the others considering how most alts have been doing in the last few months, though. Most alts have been in a slow bleedoff for months, and it doesn't seem to be getting any better yet.

Short selling and longing with leverage can be profitable if you're sizing your trades properly and setting good stops, but there's still significant risk involved, but my favorite's shorter and medium-term trading. I don't have to spend a lot of time setting up swing trades, and they can be plenty profitable if things move in your favor.
642  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it worth for me in my situation to start btc trading? on: August 29, 2019, 07:47:57 PM
It's especially important not to set targets for yourself if you're starting out trading IMO- you're just putting too much stress on yourself and that doesn't typically work out too well if you don't know very much. Read up on relevant trading material as much as you can every day, and then use your money to apply what you've learned. There's plenty of info out there for you to read up on, and you don't need to get your information from any one source. Here's a link to one of my favorite Medium authors.

I would also strongly suggest you start trading on a regular trading site like Binance or GDAX or perhaps KuCoin as well. Those are just a few exchanges that a lot of people use, and they should be good enough for you. I would suggest staying away from leverage until you become more experienced at trading, as leverage is a double-edged sword that can empty your account in just a few trades.
643  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Chainalysis research reveals: only a small percentage of mixed coins are illegal on: August 28, 2019, 11:56:00 PM
Yeah, i for sure thought that would be higher considering Coinbase et al don't seem to accept coins from certain gambling sites, or so have i read, while they don't have a problem with mixers.
Maybe it's hard for them to detect that the coins are coming from a mixing service.

About the likes of Coinbase not accepting coins from gambling sites, What could be the reason for this kind of restriction?
I have always sent crypto from gambling websites to the likes of Binance, Kucoin etc but I haven't met any challenges so far, so i guess most gambling chaps do the same too.
I've never really seen a good explanation as to why Coinbase doesn't allow you to use your coins on gambling sites, but I assume it's just something to do with all the regulations that they have to deal with. It's been like this for quite some time as I've seen these sorts of posts up to three or four years ago as well.
644  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can Crypto trading bot beat human intelligence? on: August 28, 2019, 10:37:15 PM
The effectiveness of a bot at the moment depends mostly on how good the user is at making and maintaining the efficiency of a working strategy that a bot's running. It's relatively difficult to create a profitable strategy in the first place, and you can't just leave a bot running without some intervention as well in most cases. One of the good things about using bots is that you're not impacted by emotions or other things that many manual traders get hung up on, however, but certain bots definitely do beat manual traders in profitability.
645  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to 100% Secure Bitcoin from Thieves / Hackers / Government??? on: August 28, 2019, 08:19:21 PM
As I remember Ledger is non-custodial so they don't own your keys. If I'm wrong, tell me guys.
Nope, you're correct. You're the one in charge of your keys if you're using any hardware wallet.

I actually do keep some coins in Blockchain.io and some other wallets for daily use, but I keep the majority of my funds that I'm not actively using in my Ledger Nano S and Trezor devices. You ideally should not be keeping funds long-term on these wallets, but they're just fine if you want a temporary place to keep your coins. At the end of the day, there's really no perfect solution to securely storing your coins, but some are better than others. I like using hardware wallets as they're relatively simple to use and provide decent security.
646  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How safe is Electrum wallet? on: August 28, 2019, 08:01:46 PM
I've never really had problems with Electrum, and it can be a safe wallet if you don't go around clicking every link on the internet or downloading random files that could potentially be infected (just use common sense), but if you're just trying to keep coins there for a short to medium period of time, Electrum's good enough. Always ensure you're on the latest version of Electrum before using the wallet. If you're trying to store coins for longer periods of time, consider using a hardware wallet or potentially a paper wallet.
647  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My tips for Starladder in Berlin (counter-strike) on: August 28, 2019, 07:47:54 PM
MIBR - Ninjas in Pyjamas, 28 Aug 2019, 20:45
Bet: MIBR @ 2.1 at Bethard

The world's gone mad. Bethard is late. Who has an account -the Green Book will do the trick. 100% pure profit.

analysis - sorry, but from closed zone
Map seems to be Dust2 which historically hasn't been a great map for MIBR with them losing usually around 10-16, especially as of recently, however, I've also placed a small bet on MIBR just in case there happens to be an upset here. I still do find that NiP's most likely going to win this match, but it'll hopefully be a close and interesting match to watch.
648  Economy / Speculation / Re: Dan Pena - Bitcoin will go down to zero !!! on: August 28, 2019, 07:35:04 PM
There's always going to be ridiculous price predictions both up and down by various people as long as Bitcoin exists, and most if not all of them don't end up actually working out. This doesn't seem like an exception for me. Guy seems pretty cuckoo to me based on all the info on the Internet about him, and just another case of the permabears coming out of the woodwork once things start to stall out a bit. Nothing important at all.
649  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Brand New Trader, Question About Multiple Tiny Transactions on: August 28, 2019, 01:40:17 AM
If you're only using a few cores to mine and you're not running the cores at full speed, you'd likely minimize the potential damage over time done to the processor you'd likely be running 24/7, but at the end of the day you're much better off just saving money wherever possible and investing whatever you've got saved into the lower cost coins you're talking about.

If you don't need the computer, you could also just sell it off locally or online at a place like eBay and use that money towards trading. Otherwise you're best just using the thing as is.
650  Economy / Speculation / Re: Huge drop happening within 48 hours! on: August 27, 2019, 11:59:21 PM
Leveraged trades as a whole at the moment are pretty risky especially if you're setting tight stops as there's been no shortage of stop hunts recently for both longs and shorts from a glance at the 4H and 1D charts. Best move might just be to sit this out because things just seem so coiled up right now and another candle like the one two days ago could easily stop out your short(s) and reverse in the other direction once more. It does seem like the 100DMA is acting as some sort of support at the moment though, and the daily MACD looks somewhat close to flipping green as well.
651  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trade strategy / top three pointers for newbire!! on: August 27, 2019, 11:47:05 PM
 • Stop trading if you're on some sort of a losing streak or if you don't see any good opportunities to enter a trade. It's tempting to always have a trade open, but realistically the best option is often just to sit out instead of overtrading and losing money instead of earning it.
 • Don't rely too much on any one indicator or on indicators as a whole. They're not always right, and indicators should generally be used just as a guideline to make a trade and not the only thing you use.
 • Make at least a basic risk management plan. You're almost definitely going to do better with one, and if your exchange supports it, set stop losses when possible (use TA to determine stop locations) so you can cap losses. If you constantly get stopped out on trades that reverse the other way soon after you get stopped out, reevaluate where your stops are and move them away from obvious spots.
652  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC is gain or loss? on: August 27, 2019, 11:37:53 PM
I personally don't see levels like $1k happening anytime soon, though BTC has a great track record of exceeding peoples' predictions greatly in both directions. Could it happen? Yes, but the chances for $1k happening at the moment are extremely low and you should be planning accordingly.

A price higher up relative to $1k a lot of people I've noticed talking about buying in at are the $9ks and $8ks, but I also typically find the price usually doesn't go right where a large group of people think it'll go. That being said, I'm personally bullish for the long and mid-term and as others have said here, you should always be making your own decisions instead of relying on the TA and predictions of others though. Don't be a sheep, make your own conclusions and follow them.
653  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is KuCoin Becoming the Best Exchange for Trading? on: August 27, 2019, 11:31:46 PM
I always liked the KuCoin exchange, but it was always somehow unlucky. something was missing. I could never understand why they have such a low trading volume.
Why unlucky? What's missing buddy?
Yes, we might see that some coins listed in KuCoin have low trading compared to the others (Bittrex) but not just we look for in a certain exchange. The most important is our funds is really secured. KuCoin exchange did great things this year and even listed a lot of coins this means that it consistently be growing and moving its volume as well. And that is pretty amazing to look by.
Most of the coins on KuCoin don't even have extremely low volume except for the least known pairs on the site, and the exchange's volume is overall greater than that of Bittrex by far, though most of that volume's concentrated in pairs like BTC/USDT and ETH/USDT. Pretty decent site if you're trading on the larger pairs, though as for the security portion of things you shouldn't be counting on the exchange securing funds properly too much as accidents do happen. Always keep funds you're not actively using or plan on using off-exchange.
654  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the difference between binary option and gambling? on: August 27, 2019, 10:26:13 PM
Binary options are definitely closer to gambling than they are to real trading, so I would definitely consider them gambling at the end of the day and I would much rather just trade on a normal exchange whether leveraged or unleveraged for legitimate profits. The lower timeframes are also much harder to predict than the higher ones, and I would definitely consider something like 1M and 5M to essentially be gambling just because of the noise present in those lower timeframes.
655  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to get interest on my bitcoin without KYC? on: August 27, 2019, 09:48:32 PM
There's no investment out there that guarantees you a return without risk. That's just how things work; there are places where you can lend to casinos and sites like Blockfi where you can deposit your coins and earn interest on them, but that all comes with risk because there's no insurance for the latter AFAIK, and a whale on a casino could easily wipe you out or the site could just leave with your money. Lending on exchanges can also work, but there's still risk in that as well.
656  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Often Do you Bet on Politics? on: August 27, 2019, 07:26:58 PM
I recall at the last American presidential elections there were sites where you cod be on who would end up being elected as the POTUS with BTC. I wasn't very much into politics at the time and I'm still largely not a fan of politics, but I did place a bet back then and I plan on doing so again in the next election. It's really not something that interests me a lot in the end, and I'd much rather use my betting money on something like CS:GO.
657  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I don't know how to trust a gambling site nowadays! on: August 26, 2019, 11:20:02 PM
Some sites only require KYC for large withdrawals or deposits as well, usually with larger withdrawals in my experience. Best bet you've got is just to read whatever reviews you can find for a casino on this forum and look out for keywords like 'KYC' and 'verification' throughout the posts you do find, and to try to avoid smaller sites if possible, but in the end you could be required to submit KYC at any time.

As for bonuses, I hardly ever use them anymore because of the usually extremely high minimum wager requirements for withdrawal. I'd much rather just gamble on my own money and withdraw whenever I want to instead of once I gamble an amount the site determines.
658  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What withdrawal fee do you consider as fair in gambling sites? on: August 26, 2019, 11:11:38 PM
I'd gladly wait for my withdrawal to be batched with others if I don't have to pay for the withdrawal fees like FortuneJack's system, even if it does take a little while for my funds to get sent out. Allowing customers to withdraw through this method or to pay a fair rate at something like 0.0005BTC-0.001BTC or potentially dynamic fees based on data from a site like https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/ for immediate withdrawal would work well too, though to my knowledge no site does this yet. I might be estimating on the higher side for immediate withdrawals considering I'm used to Bitmex withdrawal fees, but it's fair for a quick withdrawal IMO.
659  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [BEWARE] Phishing emails. on: August 26, 2019, 02:28:08 PM
Most phishing emails just go into your spam inbox from what I've seen over the years with Gmail, so if you don't go digging around in there you likely won't see many phishing emails.

I've also received several phishing emails from PayPal in the last few months, with one of them claiming that I had money to claim on PayPal and I had to click on the login button in the email to claim the money. The main giveaway for me was that the email wasn't formatted exactly like how PayPal usually sends out emails, and the email address that sent the email to me was obviously not PayPal. The latter's generally the best way to identify phishing emails though.
660  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Overall winning - Dice on: August 26, 2019, 02:14:58 PM
Nope. I've been up some in dice in the past, but overall I'm in the red in dice. Always remember to only gamble as much as you can afford to lose; if you're losing money from your day job it might be a sign that you're gambling too much and you should try to find something else to do. Always keep in mind you're realistically going to be in the red in the long run, though you can have some wins on a shorter timeframe. Start saving some money again, and if you want to start gambling again, recognize when to stop and stop then.
