641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Effects of introverts against successful investments on: September 16, 2023, 11:54:35 AM
I want to ask, are you one of this introverts? Why and how did you become one?
Is it as a result of being molested or a result of parental and guidance?

Things you must know about being an introvert on the business sector>>>
* Do you know if you are an employee and your company needed a presentative you would not be. Considered if you are one of the introverts and could also cause you a setback or delays to promotions?.
Do you know that most crashed business is a result of inability to socialize and set a literarily public campaigns?
Do you know that your inability to speak could earn you a missed lottery ticket?
Do you know that your introvertial lifestyle could earn you a defenceless?

Lol what is this? sorry but the inability to socialize, inability to speak up, bad at public speaking, and the likes are not introversion but something else, one candidate for instance is social anxiety.

I define introverts as people who have a lower social energy hence the preference for solitude. It doesn't mean they're bad or hate socializing. In truth, we humans are social beings and actually need to socialize.
642  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Faruk Fatih Özer, founder of Thodex found guilty sentenced to 11,196 years on: September 16, 2023, 09:10:21 AM
What if I tell you the authorities were actually aiming to sentence him for 40,000 years? lmao, see: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/thodex-crypto-exchange-founder-busted-faces-40000-years-in-jail -- a year old article

These figures are bonkers I know, but this reminded me of multiple life sentences for people with multiple charges, perhaps the concept is similiar in turkish law.

This is a common punishment for a defendant convicted of multiple murder in the United States. Depending on the jurisdiction in which the case is tried, a defendant receiving a life sentence may become eligible for parole after serving a minimum length of time, on the order of 15–25 years. If a back-to-back penalty is imposed, the defendant must serve that minimum for every life sentence before parole can be granted. Such a penalty also ensures that even if some of the murder convictions are overturned on appeal, the defendant must still serve the sentences for the ones left standing.

I don't think it's wrong that Turkey is being harsh on these people, they deserve it with the amount of damage they caused to many people.

Not gonna lie but I don't know where it came from and I can't remember if I joined their bounty and airdrop campaigns.

Another possibility is, it could be randomly airdropped to your address. Some teams do it in order to lure people/create buzz, though from what I saw, it's typically the shady projects who do it.

From the thing you've told us, there are more indicators you're dabbling into something shady, I would err on the side of caution.

May I add another tip?  Grin

If you try to be active on telegram, you could setup the telegram notification bot for our forum, see: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5248878.0

This way, you could also respond to forum members inquiries in a timely manner as the team could setup the bot to get notifications when someone quotes/mentions their handled bitcointalk account and even do a topic tracking for this ANN thread.
645  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Huobi global rebranded name to HTX on: September 14, 2023, 12:23:45 PM
Lol they should've expected it would remind people of FTX given how similar the brand name is, or perhaps, it was an intentional move to create some buzz  Wink

Can't speak for others but, the meaning behind HTX is a lot more closer to ramblings rather than meaningful lol.  What even is that slogan though? "HTX, Just Trade It"? it sounds like a strange copy pasta from Nike's "Just Do It".
646  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: FTX Claim deadline Sept 29 2023 on: September 12, 2023, 06:51:00 AM
Were you talking about this?

NOTE: Although KYC information submission is not required in order to view your account balance or file a proof of claim, the Debtors reserve the right to object to claims filed that are not verified with KYC information. For more information about the list of requirements, please visit this page: Verification

From what I understand, it just means not providing KYC information would mean your claim has a much less weight/support compared to claims backed with KYC information because debtors have the right to object it.

Imo, it's more likely that they'll exercise their right to object non-kyc'd claims especially if there is no enough supply to cover every claims.
647  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: HitBTC scam on: September 10, 2023, 11:34:43 PM
Right now it's a "he said she said" situation. I myself made some mistakes during the process because I couldn't read with my own two eyes. As soon as I realized what was wrong, everything went smoothly. Maybe he's in the same situation, how can you tell?

Is it really a he said, she said situation when you have an overwhelming amount of people complaining about the same thing!? -- endless KYC to keep funds hostage

Is it really, when the exchange has displayed other scummy behavior such as charging 20 bucks per month when a user has become inactive for a mere six months and without notifying them?

Well, still a way to go? But still an improvement since $100 back when ETH blockchain went mad. And you can never go wrong with some Tron USDT, it's relatively cheap

Should we just ignore that most major/somewhat popular altcoins are above average in fees?

I wonder why your bar is low when it comes to hitbtc. I saw people thinking of dabbling into obscure exchanges because of the cheap fees but hitbtc is known to be problematic and their withdrawal fees are even above average but yes, it is still the way to go 🥱

Is it really wrong to hope for the best? I'm just trying to learn more and compare with my experience (genuinely flabbergasted by some of the things that are written here). Also, if they're so strict with KYC, I'm trying to understand why. That is all.

Being optimistic is perfectly fine but glossing over the overwhelming problematic stuff is just toxic positivity. There are far better exchanges than hitbtc, it's not like you have no choice.
648  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: catex.io & dex-trade.com on: September 10, 2023, 09:50:49 PM
The more obscure the exchange is, the higher the risk. But if you can take the risk, I would suggest to split your funds into pieces and trade with one part each time. The trick is, if they ever froze your account, only a part is lost.

If you however find a community for this coin where it's okay to post trade offers, you could try to list your offer in p2p exhanges like agoradesk or robosats and also advertise in the mentioned community for extra exposure.

Note: Robosats allows you to manually input a payment method so it should work; agoradesk has the "Cryptocurrency" option.
649  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bitmex is being stupid on: September 10, 2023, 12:40:55 PM
How can I contact the licence providers.
My account was approved 2 years I opened a smooth transaction.

They're an off-shore company incorporated in Seychelles which is pretty much for formalities only because it's pretty easy to incorporate there that even scammers have it.

I can only suggest making noise in as many crypto communities as you can since Bitmex should still let you withdraw. Try to make your post brief but detailed enough for people to get the whole thing and catchy. I would start in their subreddit, see: https://www.reddit.com/r/BitMEX/
650  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Not Very Promising - Profit: 0.5 – 1% Daily Only - May Be SCAM, May Be Not on: September 10, 2023, 08:23:48 AM
Just read OP oncemore - there are 9000+ members already. Some of them invested more than 0.2BTC. Yes, many of that type of sites are simple scam site. But at this stage it is not possible to say scam or not - I can not find negative review yet.

What do these figures have to do with legitimacy??? There were even big ponzi schemes who siphoned billions out of many people. It doesn't prove anything op. Moreover, let's also keep in mind how easy it is to inflate/fake numbers.

In addition, there is no need for reviews when their business model is a text book ponzi scheme.

There is a doubt, that this can not be the scam also. SCAM sites are more or less easy to check, in this case I can not - because as I said there are not negative reviews yet.

It's clearly a scam and you're the only one doubting that here, maybe because you're here to advertise them 🥱
651  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Owner of 8K bitcoin lost in landfill threatens to bankrupt local council on: September 10, 2023, 07:09:46 AM
The regret of throwing away the riches drove him nuts lmao

I've read the article and my dude lost his bitcoin wallet on 2013. Obviously, a lot has changed since then. It's nearly impossible he'll be able to recover anything, not to mention the amount of work it would take to dig that much.

Most importantly, the negative environmental impact it would cause

A spokesperson said, “The council has told Mr. Howells multiple times that excavation is not possible under our environmental permit, and that work of that nature would have a huge negative environmental impact on the surrounding area.”

He has no case. Better just buy BTC's again and hold.
652  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: HitBTC scam on: September 08, 2023, 11:35:32 PM
Do this rule has been around since years ago? That could explain why my balance hit zero.

At one point in the past, I got a warning email from hitbtc that someone tried to access my account. Driven by curiosity rather than wanting to secure my account, I logged in and saw that my balance is zero --or if not zero, then it was negligible to be withdrawn-- I might be wrong [and this time, the chance is quite big that my memory served me wrong] but I think I used to had some balance there, not sure which currency was it, but I pretty much sure I left something there. At that time, I thought I must have moved the remaining balance and forgot about it. With this added info, though, I became quite sure I did left something there and got deducted by "inactive account fee". Ahh, well, what's done is done.

If you're still able to access your account, perhaps they'd label it as such in your transaction history. Onto your question, it has been more than two years so more than enough to drain a couple hundreds as they said, they charge 20 bucks a month.

Inactive Account Fee is debited starting from 1 June 2021 for each Account,

idc if they ask me to re-verify, just another jumping through the hoops as with any other exchange. Not that my face will change amirite?

Try reading the thread you posted on? TLDR: the OP is open to KYC, the problem is, scam hitbtc keeps the whole thing in circles, ultimately making people give up. You will find multiple stories like this in various platforms such as this forum, reddit, twitter, etc.

It seems rather user friendly now and from what i read online it improved with the withdrawal fees and the speed of support (from what i can see now).

Their withdrawal fees are above average and expensive still, see: https://withdrawalfees.com/exchanges/hitbtc

They verified me fast, not like in some months as someone wrote on reddit, I tried trading already. Sometimes execution may be slow, but if you trade shitcoins, it's understandable. Also margin is a big plus.

You situation is different as you have verified in advance. If you actually read the multiple scam threads about them particularly the actual thread you posted on, you'll know, these people have already spend a good amount of time with the exchange and have some money stuck in there before they were requested to be placed in an endless KYC BS.

I'm really doubting you're just a regular user. You sound more like a shill with the way you defend them so much.
653  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Unfortunately, this problem is increasing yearly on: September 08, 2023, 06:47:02 AM
Honestly, I find SMS 2fa inconvenient -- at least in the long run.

It's merely easy to setup because of how widely used SMS services have been hence, people are so much more familiar with it + no backups are needed (instead you trust your service provider which as mentioned have caused trouble multiple times) so there is little to no learning curve.

But here's the thing, I have used services where you don't have a choice other than SMS 2fa. Oh god, SMS getting delayed or lost is pretty much inevitable even with good signal on my phone. I move around from places to places as well and there were areas where the signal is just poor. On my TOTP app, I don't need to rely on network providers and I always get my code the moment I open my app.

I'd choose TOTP any day. It's more convenient for my use case and most importantly, has better security.
654  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bitmex is being stupid on: September 07, 2023, 08:07:31 PM
No, there's no violation.
If there are, it's better if they explain it.

From the image you linked to us, Bitmex did say you breached their terms of service so there is a violation. Perhaps, you were truly at fault -- whether you did it knowingly or not. However, we don't know the specifics so it could go both ways really. CEx do rely on suspicions so I wouldn't be surpised if it's something dumb or a false positive.

In any case, it's unlikely that they will explain the cause throughly. With CEx's it's either they don't tell the specifics or give a vague reasoning which as user, I know, sucks. Most of these exchanges also have clause/s in their terms of service indicating they may not notify you the exact reason for cases like this.

So my advise is to focus your energy in getting your funds out. See if you could request to delete your personal data with them as well -- i know we have to rely on trust with this but it's better than nothing.
655  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: HitBTC scam on: September 06, 2023, 09:11:44 PM
Call me cynical, but I don't think the main purpose of their story is to share their "KYC experience" from HitBTC. They created an account, minutes later hit --pun intended-- this specific thread that's been buried under several other accusation threads about how their KYC procedure is clear and easy, and then went under right after.

That's indeed quite possible.

The funny thing is, the post just backfired as it only made people remember how bad the exchange is lol.

I can not remember when last I accessed my hitbtc account, coming across this thread, I remembered I have an account on this exchange and even left some small amount of funds there which I couldn't withdraw at the time, I think I have like 30 xrp there plus other smaller amount of coins, I just opened the website now and tried logging in since I still remember my login details, I was told that my account have been disabled due to inactivity and now requesting doe the impossible for kyc verification before they can restate my account again ..

How can they disable a users account without a single warning or notification via email messages, this is so unbelievably..

Another tactic from HitBTC to lure users into their KYC trap. They did not email so you're more likely to miss it.

Were you able to view the balance in your account? cause they may have zero'd it as well. Afaik, HitBTC has a predatory scheme of charging a monthly fee if you've been inactive for 6 months.

18.4. Inactive Account Fee. In case during 6 (six) months the User has not made a single Trade, or single Deposit, or single Withdrawal of Funds, the Account of such User shall be considered Inactive Account (“Inactive Account “). For all Inactive Accounts, HITBTC applies a monthly fee, which is the equivalent of 20 (twenty) USDT at the current SPOT rate of the USDT to the Currency in which the fee will be debited (“Inactive Account Fee “).
656  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help with locked account on: September 06, 2023, 08:40:20 AM
I did do this (sent it to Cyrus on: January 29, 2018, 01:36:51 PM) including signed message and link to where I had posted the address that was used to sign the message (post was from the locked account before it was locked). Never received a reply. My account is unfortunately still locked.

I saw your main account woke up couple of hours after this post, was that you?

Last Active: Today at 06:49:14 AM

If so, lock this thread and congrats!

Otherwise, see: Recovering hacked/lost accounts
I would also suggest starting a topic in Meta board so it can be tagged as hacked in the mean time while you recover your account.
657  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: 24hr fully automatic cryptocurrency exchange, NO KYC needed on Bitsar! on: September 06, 2023, 07:43:05 AM
Oh okay. So far, it does follow the same pattern -- that it works with chrome/chromium based browsers.

I looked it up and duckduckgo --on android-- and microsoft edge are chromium based.

In its essence, it's just a UI slapped on to WebView, which is why it's so small. At the moment, the only WebView options are Chrome and Chromium, so basically, DDG uses Chrome/Chromium.

In late 2018, it was announced that Edge would be completely rebuilt as a Chromium-based

Firefox is heavily recommended by privacy enthusiasts so I hope it gets optimized along with adding segwit addresses.
658  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitfinex holds bitcoin on its balance sheet on: September 06, 2023, 04:23:36 AM
What's with the article though?

The headline is "Crypto exchange Bitfinex holds bitcoin on its balance sheet" but it doesn't say much about this except that a trusted source has told them. The rest of the content are about how bitfinex invest a part of their money to bitcoin and their sister company.

First part of the article and the 2nd stanza is already a different topic???

Crypto exchange Bitfinex holds bitcoin on its balance sheet, a source with direct knowledge of the matter told The Block.

Bitfinex has historically kept part of its trading fee earnings in bitcoin as a long-term commitment to the world's first and largest cryptocurrency, the source said, declining to comment on absolute figures.

This looks like a promotional article for bitfinex to me lol.
659  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: HitBTC scam on: September 06, 2023, 12:13:08 AM
My friend recommended me this exchange to trade but I wanted to KYC in advance to avoid any surprises. It may be strict, but I passed it, just followed the instructions and got verified in a couple of days. No complaints of any edited photos from them, the procedure is clear and straightforward. So far so good, hope it stays that way  Tongue

KYC-ing in advance does not mean you'd avoid any surprises. Any centralized and custodial exchange can request you to reverify and/or request further personal information. I suggest at least skimming their terms of service.

Further, HitBTC is known for its shady practices -- selective scamming and problem/s typically arise once a user has deposited money to them particularly relatively significant amounts where they get the surprise invasive KYC.

You still have time to get out Tongue
660  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: 24hr fully automatic cryptocurrency exchange, NO KYC needed on Bitsar! on: September 05, 2023, 03:31:47 AM
Just tried it myself and actually it took about 30 to 40 seconds , during which I was displayed that same screenshot you posted , to load the pair I was browsing, than the order book filled and lastly the graph was visible.
But after that initial stalling phase  whatever pair I selected it was immediately available with all infos.

So, spot trading is available now ( seems like no maintenance ongoing) but maybe something should be improved in site loading.

Thanks for trying! What browser did you use?

I tried to load the website again after reading your post but no luck! I played with my VPN (paid) again, and nothing. I tried with another different browser-- brave and it worked! it did load slow (particularly the charts) but it worked.

The browsers I've tried last night were firefox and librewolf. I just remembered librewolf is a fork of firefox which could explain why they had the same result. Brave by the way is chromium based. So perhaps, this doesn't do well with firefox/firefox based browsers? however, I do remember accessing the spot market on the 24th of September using firefox browser and it went fine.

Anyhow, I was gonna try this but found their deposit addresses for btc are all legacy -- instant and spot. This came as a surprise since segwit addresses have been the standard.
