6481  Economy / Economics / Re: Can a new $2 trillion bill bring back the US economy to pre pandemic levels. on: October 16, 2020, 05:53:37 AM
It is not a liquidity problem, it is a solvency problem. The problem with this type of measure is that you don't solve a solvency problem with liquidity. You relieve the sick person a little bit, but you don't cure them. The economy is sick because of the pandemic. The only real cure is to end the pandemic, either with vaccines or because eventually you get group immunity, but the bad thing is that there's still some time to go.
6482  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can i buy sell bitcoin in Belgium? on: October 16, 2020, 05:37:33 AM
First, I think this doesn't belong in the off-topic section.

Regarding what you are asking, I don't see that there is any difference between buying from Belgium and buying from most industrialized countries if you use a bank account.

I would start with Coinbase, but later on find out about hard wallets and save your bitcoin there. Remember the phrase "not you keys, not your bitcoin".
6483  Other / Off-topic / Re: 2 years cigarette free on: October 15, 2020, 07:02:24 AM
Congrats for overcoming cigarette smoking.

Its not really easy to quit and you feel something unusual if you tried to not smoke even for few hours.

But it can be done slowly, I would appreciate if you share your experience on quitting successfully.
+

I left it slowly with gum. First I tried to quit without using gum or anything and I started smoking again soon after. Then I started smoking nicotine gum and slowly lowered the dosage. I started with about 10 pieces of gum, and after a week I went down to 9, then 8, and so on. In the end, when I was only eating 2 or 3 pieces of gum a day, I stopped the gum as well.
6484  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Four Phases of Bitcoin Growth on: October 15, 2020, 06:09:34 AM
What do I think? I think this is as plausible as any prediction.

I think that mass adoption for commercial use will drive the price way past 10K if that every happens.

This.

The truth is that the OP article is quite worked out and detailed, but it can fail like any other prediction. I enter the section of speculation because I like it and it entertains me but I do not believe that the many predictions that are made, no matter how detailed they are, can always fail, because there are always things that escape the analysis.

This being said, I also believe that as adoption increases, the price should follow.
6485  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: JPMorgan Chase bank backs Square's $50m Bitcoin investment on: October 14, 2020, 11:30:08 AM
With regards to Jamie Dimon's stance though, you should look at where he is coming from. He is a banker, so of course they will attack bitcoin at any cost. However, it was uncovered that the attack was well orchestrated, After the Boss Calls Bitcoin a 'Fraud' — JP Morgan Buys the Dip . And obviously they make a lot of money from their investors and clients back then.

Yes, maybe what he is interested in for some reason now is to pump the price of bitcoin. It's not that he believes in the intrinsic properties of bitcoin or in how positive crypto currencies can be for society. He's probably got a bunch of bitcoin nowadays. Both personally and for his company. So, I don't trust him, his personal comments are aimed at trying to further increase personal profits.
6486  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Covid reinfection on: October 13, 2020, 01:57:45 PM
Hopefully that is an exception rather than a rule.
I had covid and it's pretty bad. I'm not wearing masks now, because I'm confident that second infection won't affect me much but after hearing from you I have doubts now.

Yes I hope so.

With the thousands of people who will have been infected a second time, I think that if this is news now it is because it is not normal. Otherwise, the news would be that 100 percent of those reinfected develop the second infection severely. Moreover, I think that's what the article points out:

Prof Paul Hunter, from the University of East Anglia, said the study was "very concerning" because of the small gap between the two infections, and the severity of the second. Given the fact that to date over 37 million people have had the infection, we would have expected to have heard of many more incidents if such very early reinfections with severe illness were common. "It is too early to say for certain what the implications of these findings are for any immunisation programme. But these findings reinforce the point that we still do not know enough about the immune response to this infection."

BBC News - Covid reinfection: Man gets Covid twice and second hit 'more severe'
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-54512034

Hopefully it will be an isolated case, the causes of which we still do not know.
6487  Economy / Economics / Re: Show me shops where i can spend crypto ...crypto is useless... on: October 13, 2020, 01:48:59 PM
Check the below website,

https://coinmap.org/

It consists the required info!

Also, it is true that crypto can't be used in many places due to the regulatory hiccups and price fluctuations. But that doesn't mean it is useless. You can order a crypto debit card from Bitpay and Polispay and use it like any other plastic card.

Hope this helps!

Well, not all sites that accept bitcoin appear there. I found a dentist I was looking for and noticed that his site says he accepts bitcoin. Also, it won't appear on the google search that the OP has done for sure. This also happened to me in another case.

The thing is that the OP is partly right, bitcoin is far behind the cash, and the bad thing about pages like bitrefill is that they do the conversion to fiat so you can spend.
6488  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: THE MOST PAINFUL DAY IN MY BETTING CAREER on: October 13, 2020, 11:14:52 AM
1. Never borrow to place a bet
This is something people still struggle to understand and if you visit the lending section there are people taking loans for gambling which baffles me because if you are taking loan to gamble then you are actually not just playing against the house edge but always playing against the loan fees and the pressure to win quickly to pay the loan.

I never thought of it that way, but you're right. I knew a lot of those people were taking loans to gamble, because I was seeing $50 loans in bitcoin and things like that, which don't make sense if they're not for gambling. But the funny thing is that they don't realize that this reduces their chances of success.

2. Always bet only what you can afford to lose
Actually only deposit what you can afford to loose all, I have seen people depositing a big amount and saying that they are not going to use it all but once you start loosing you will never know when and why you used the whole bankroll.

The problem with gambling is that it triggers our emotions, and many times emotion wins over the rational mind, thus making us go beyond the limits we had rationally set for ourselves.
6489  Other / Archival / Re: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Bitcoin Mixers on: October 13, 2020, 11:02:38 AM
This needs to be read in full.

The author has compared between the public mixers and the other private mixers which are well known to us like chipmixer, crypto and bitcoin mixer etc. It is astounding to see this topic has achieved the mastery level here.

I am not sure if you guys have read through the document, but author states that all the services are poor in terms of giving the controlled anonymity to the end user. It's thinkable how he did it though. Will definitely read this article for adding it to my knowledge.

I am curious to have the participants in the chip mixer campaign give their opinion about this. They are usually the most reputable users of the forum, and I would say that chip mixer is also the most reputable mixer of the forum, but if what you say is true, the document does not leave a good impression on it. I suppose they'll have strong arguments to defend chip mixer.
6490  Other / Politics & Society / Re: people dont understand vaccine trial dates on: October 12, 2020, 03:31:09 AM
The good news is, if the trials aren't completed by the end of 2021, Covid will have naturally dwindled almost into nothingness on its own account... just like SARS did by 2005.

But do you think that will stop them from giving us the vaccine? With the amount of money invested, these vaccines will be marketed, even though the danger of the virus will have diminished considerably by then. Some countries may make it mandatory to get the vaccine, or they may ask you to get it for certain things, such as travel.
6491  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price fundamentals in ‘moon mode’ as BTC held on exchanges drops on: October 12, 2020, 03:23:07 AM
The fundamentals of bitcoin are going well, the problem is that the price, especially in the short term, often does not follow them. There were long periods uring the bear market when also the fundamentals were going well. If we were to start with lockdowns again now, I am sure that the price would go to hell.

As for BTC held on exchanges, I agree with the above that it is not essential for price prediction.
6492  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling sites accepting bets from countries where gambling is illegal. on: October 11, 2020, 09:33:48 AM
Not only that. They also accept players from countries where in order to offer their services, they would have to obtain a license. And they don't have one. Playing in those countries is not strictly forbidden, but it is forbidden to play in those casinos that have not obtained a license. And for the casinos,  it is forbidden to accept players from those countries.
6493  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ideology & impact on real life on: October 11, 2020, 09:24:35 AM
The problem with ideologies is that they are almost perfect in theory but far from perfect in practice. In my case, I think capitalism is the least bad once it is put into practice, but always putting certain limits on the part of the state and having some redistribution of wealth. Although, ideally, these limits and redistribution should tend to the minimum.
6494  Economy / Economics / Re: Venezuela Planning New 100,000-Bolivar Bills Worth Just $0.23 on: October 10, 2020, 11:10:20 AM
So the crisis in Venezuela is not due to socialism or communism, but because of the incomplete project of socialism which has made all social reforms fail to produce a change towards the control of a mode of production that can guarantee mutual prosperity. As a result, the social transformation to rid Venezuela from dependence on oil has not been successful. Meanwhile, the anti-Chavismo social forces, which had an economic base from the private sector, took advantage of this crisis to destroy the political project of Socialism.

It of course is due to communism, which is a nice idea in the theory, but the one of the worst economic systems when you put it into practice.

It is as simple as this. Do you know why the Berlin Wall was built? Because people were escaping en masse from a regime of political and economic repression to a free country. So, the Eastern Bloc politicians decided to build the wall.

How many people tried to escape from West Germany to East Germany by jumping over the wall? 0

How many people tried to escape from East Germany to West Germany by jumping over the wall? Tens of thousands, putting their lives on the line.

How many people try to escape from South Korea and go to North Korea? 0
And the other way around?

How many people escape from the United States to Cuba on a raft?
And the other way around?

How many people have escaped from Venezuela?

Venezuela exodus set to top 5 million as long-term needs grow, officials say.

And so on.
6495  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency Adoption: A Breakthrough? on: October 10, 2020, 10:53:54 AM
They are saying that fiat currency are becoming useless because it is much risky to use it due to the Covid-19 virus that can be spread through cash transactions.

You're not making any sense. To begin with, cash can also be spent using debit cards. Also, the UN also came out to deny that the use of banknotes was transmitting the coronavirus: World Health Organization: ‘We did NOT say that cash was transmitting coronavirus’

So, your argument doesn't hold.
6496  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency Adoption: A Breakthrough? on: October 10, 2020, 06:04:30 AM
LOL. A breakthrough in cryptocurrency adoption?

A card that converts crypto to fiat?

See this: Why Binance’s New Debit Card Fails to Fulfill Satoshi’s Vision.

In my opinion, it could be a breakthrough if that card would pay in crypto directly and thus if merchants accepted crypto payments, being those transactions recorded in the blockchain.

Apart form that, I agree with what others have said. Fiat is not dead.

Cash is still king.
6497  Other / Off-topic / Re: Really Random Topic - Our Existence on: October 09, 2020, 05:46:47 PM
If you refer to an anthropocentric God, that is, a god conceived in the image and likeness of man, but with super powers, no, I do not believe in him. This idea of God is expressed by the most multitudinous religions, like Christianity or Islam.

I agree with the ancient Greek Xenophanes of Colophon that if animals had a mind and also could paint, they would paint God with the form of an animal.

I do not deny that there is something like a "God", but if there is, it is surely something much more complex than what is expressed by anthropocentric religions.

6498  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC - What next? on: October 09, 2020, 02:20:01 PM
As a BTC holder, I'm starting to think about moving a large part of my BTC to USDT.
2nd wave of COVID-19, gap on CME, SPX and news, that showing around -  creating not positive thinking about the near future for BTC and the crypto market in general (personally for me).

What's your thoughts about this situation?

You do not explicitly say whether you are investing in the long or short term, but from your words it is clear that you are playing short term. Keep trying to time the market. I think the only system that works for that is to consult your crystal ball, as short term prices depend a lot on human emotions reacting to certain events and not to intrinsic properties of assets.

I prefer to invest long-term: buy and hold.

Nobody received any payment yet, but don't worry. This campaign is well known for always paying the participants. Sometimes there are some delays, but payments are always made and they are correct. You'll receive also some bonus for the delay. Just wait a bit more.

Thanks! No, I'm not too worried. I think I have to receive the equivalent of around $0.50 in bitcoin LOL.

Campaign should be all processed no later then <24 hours from now
Everyone will get a bonus.

I was coming to the thread to ask about this just now because I've checked that I haven't received the payment.

Has everybody received it? Otherwise it seems to me that it has been delayed for more than 24 hours since the message was written. As this would be my first payment, I would like to know that everything is OK.
