681  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Telegram and it's misue for scammers. on: August 26, 2023, 06:14:47 PM
But I want to ask if with Telegram premium paid and also there is a blue tick it can be categorized as safe, in the sense that he is an official user and not a clone?

The ones I've encountered on average are scammers on telegram never with no blue tick, but maybe I'm missing it.

I'd say no and I wouldn't completely rely on blue tick marks.

One thing I've learned is no matter how rigorious the verification process is, people seem to find a way to slip through hence the market for buying and selling verified accounts.

Best to always keep a good amount of caution because even our known contacts can be hacked. It's not on telegram, but 2 of my friends on discord were hacked and started spamming nitro scam on DM's.
682  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: binance vs decentralized exchange on: August 25, 2023, 09:42:17 PM
People shouldn't really forget these things but eventually these binance issues were forgotten already since people would really be focusing most of the time on what is the current reputation and popularity does it have at this moment on which it would really be that a common for people to have that kind of reaction on which they do easily forget those breaches on which this exchange have
in the past. People doesnt really care as long it do really give out the services that it do currently gives and this is why they are really that still sticking on making use of this exchange. Its true that when it comes to data breaches then these centralized exchangers are really that prone to these things but it seems that the community doesnt really care at all. In between choices of CEX and DEX then it would be entirely be depending on your needs but cant really deny that cex offerings is more better because it do really engage out with direct with fiat or easily could make out some p2p transactions on local fiat on which i do really prefer the most.

Yeah, other options aside from CEXs are still pretty limited in terms of what they can offer hence people resort to CEx.

Perhaps, people simply don't care, have gold fish memory, etc. or they may have weighed the pros and cons and picked a lesser evil -- IDK there are different kinds of traders. In any case, it is always better to be informed on what has happened and what may happen in order to make a better decision.
683  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: AMA about CEX trading competition, taking KCGI as an example on: August 25, 2023, 07:17:20 PM
But how do we know you're not trolling us? I suggest coming up with supporting evidence.

Because frankly speaking, anyone can create an account and claim big things not to mention, a lot of scammers are circling around in the crypto community hence it makes sense to be cautious.
684  Economy / Exchanges / Re: SimpleSwap, instant cryptocurrency exchange with more than 175 coins. on: August 25, 2023, 05:55:33 PM
From their telegram group:

It could be that issues from yesterday are still persisting? It's a bummer that there isn't anything about this on their other social handles so I'm not sure either if we'll be given update/s once everything is working normally, specially when some people may want to lean on the caution side and only swap once everything appears to be okay.
685  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why verification is important to crypto users and investors on: August 25, 2023, 12:20:51 AM
Identity verification is only on centralized services, not on bitcoin.

Frankly, I don't see any benefit from verification. These are just the same crap CEx says to make KYC more palatable to their users.

There are ways to bypass the system which has been going on for years

Darknet hackers are selling crypto accounts for as low as $30 a pop
For $200, You Can Trade Crypto With a Fake ID
Binance support employees help customers in China bypass KYC.

To put it simply, fraudsters get out with little to no damage by gaming the checks and the average users have to bear the weight of a possible data leaks/when exchanges share your data to who knows who.
686  Other / Meta / Re: Qobuz Sublime phishing sent to my bitcointalk.org email on: August 24, 2023, 10:28:56 PM
Chiming in to say my forum-only email address has not received a phishing email as well. As pointed out by others, there are other ways for malicious people to get ahold of your email address.

Honestly speaking, it wouldn't make sense for the forum to sell our emails as well because what for? money? ICYMI, theymos disabled the ad auction that generates a good sum of money to err on the side of caution and that already says a lot. There is no need to resort to such thing and risk reputation.
687  Economy / Exchanges / Re: My need help Please help me on: August 24, 2023, 08:48:21 PM
But looking at OP's post history, it indicates they are with dollarpesa, see:

We are at your service with many other transactions

Contact
Telegram: https://telegram.me/dollarpesa

So what is the catch here? subtle advertisement? it's pretty obvious, everyone will say no to the question... -- assuming I interpreted the question right since it's poorly constructed.

In any case, they do appear to be shady as pointed out above.

688  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: 24hr fully automatic cryptocurrency exchange, NO KYC needed on Bitsar! on: August 24, 2023, 06:43:15 PM
I see you're also doing spot trading, what are the limits for it?

I can't seem to find any information for this. It appears there is no help center for self-help articles (aside from the FAQ) which I highly recommend doing so as it would cause less strain to your support team.
689  Other / Archival / Re: OKX is going to implement KYC for all clients on: August 23, 2023, 11:55:26 PM
Thanks for the update.

Everything is going as predicted. I'm just hoping for a smooth offboarding for people who wouldn't plan on going through KYC.

Honestly, they fell short when they implemented the $5K lifetime limit but since this is mandatory KYC we're talking about, I'm hoping for an adequate communication + ample amount of time for people to withdraw similar to what other exchanges did.

I'm most curious if the lifetime withdrawal limit for unverifieds will be lifted when this comes thru? guess we'll find out soon.
690  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: binance vs decentralized exchange on: August 23, 2023, 10:39:58 PM
But if you use Binance and do kyc there I don't think there will be any problem because they are a trusted and very big exchange platform. So there is nothing to fear about it

Any CEx can suffer data breach. Being big in the game does not necessarily translate there will be no problems.

It's also known that CEx's shares user data to who knows what. In fact, one of the third parties binance used suffered a breach and people's data were leaked, see: https://cointelegraph.com/news/binance-kyc-breach-did-it-happen-and-if-so-whos-to-blame

In short, there's still a good amount of risk involved even with established exchanges.
691  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ledger, safe or not? on: August 23, 2023, 09:20:14 PM
I believed they lied about not having a back door and now found out they do. And also being closed source who knows what can be taken by them. But any hardware wallet service can deploy a new software update and take your keys as most people do not know how to verify the source even if it is open. And if people do find out they will do by other people who have checked it and by that point a lot of keys may get stolen if something or someone decided to go rogue at the respective hardware company. I believe this cannot be applied to all hardware companies due to the design of the device.

Well, up to some extent, you still have to trust your hardware wallet provider and there are plenty of manufacturers that did not BS'd their way like ledger. In short there are better options.

I do hope most of the community haven't succumbed back to ledger as that wouldn't send a good message. It's safe to assume other manufacturers are also watching the scene unfold and imagine if ledger recovered + gained more market especially on their cloud backup side business, what does that say?  Undecided
692  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are they safe for us? and we should enjoy them? on: August 23, 2023, 07:46:39 PM
These sellers are not forum members.  So I can't check their trust list.  There are various groups on WhatsApp, Telegram to buy and sell them and I bought some services like ChatGPT-4 & Netflix subscription they really deliver.  My question is whether I can have any problem using them?

Most accounts are likely from gray market so there's always a good chance something could go wrong. This is why most of these sellers offer replacement if you encounter a problem -- at least from what I've seen in the past.

I've also seen sellers come and go so for monthly subscriptions like netflix, you wouldn't wanna avail a 12-month subscription right off the bat lol.

I think for softwares or games, there are websites you could go for which should have better reputation than those in telegram.
693  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What's the best instant exchange for BTC to XMR on: August 19, 2023, 11:59:55 PM
Does P2P mean you'll get better privacy & rates to online instant swappers every time? I'll check LocalMonero for rate comparing later but it's only allowing trades if you'll register so that isn't ideal for privacy. Unstoppable P2P's a good option but they haven't offered the best rates.

The rates for Non-KYC P2P platforms are typically not as competitive compared to others. You could also say it's an additional price for better privacy.

Well, if privacy is your priority, I would recommend P2P platforms with end-to-end encryption like BISQ and robosats.
694  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IT'S BITCOIN.ORG 15 YEARS ANNIVERSARY AND NO ONE IS CELEBRATING on: August 18, 2023, 11:43:09 PM
Attention economy prospering + people having their own stuff to deal with... it makes sense if they don't have the energy to celebrate every little thing. I tried to access bitcoin.org and even them don't appear to be celebrating as well -- so there's that.

In any case, I'd say it's best to just let people do whatever they want on this, it's not like there's a wrong answer.
695  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: PST.NET REVIEW. IT IS A SCAM!! HOW I LOST $27,000 IN BTC. THREAD BELOW on: August 18, 2023, 09:12:12 PM
These damn rogues have the audacity to claim they held up the transaction due to supposedly finding 23 scam reports linked to the address the BTC was sent from. Can you believe this garbage? And to top it off, the payment came directly from crypto.com. Are they seriously implying that crypto.com, a legit company, is some kind of scam?

https://glasschain.org/btc/address/bc1q7cyrfmck2ffu2ud3rn5l5a8yv6f0chkp0zpemf

I took a look at these "scam reports" and most of them are just spam for recovery scams lmao. Notice how these victims are redirecting people to random websites/people that supposedly recovered their money? that is the trick. Read more about this on: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/fbi-warns-of-increasing-cryptocurrency-recovery-scams/

The rest are just some no weight scam reports lol. If you're gonna trust every scam, report to the police whatnot post with nothing else provided, there is some serious problem lol it's pretty easy to submit loads of those.

Most importantly, the address is not even yours but crypto.com
696  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: !! Warning !! Bitget Exchange on: August 18, 2023, 06:18:29 PM
By the way OP, I suggest removing the first quoted review from trust pilot in your post because I'm pretty sure it was just a recovery scam attempt. It's the same kind of shit that gets spammed all the time, you can read more about this on: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/fbi-warns-of-increasing-cryptocurrency-recovery-scams/

In any case, regardless of this accusation thread, I've already felt iffy about them when I saw the amount of fake reviews in Exchanges board. Unless I'm out of choices, I'm most likely not gonna touch them.
697  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: any reivew about escrow service bitify.com on: August 16, 2023, 11:59:49 PM
What kind of account do you want to buy? If you want to buy Bitcointalk account, then no one will help you here as account buy-sell is frowned upon here but if it's not, why do bother Bitify? You will find so many trusted escrows here. I would recommend GazetaBitcoin- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5432278.0

It appears they're not looking to buy a bitcointalk account but an apple developers account for companies

need apple developer account company .
only for trusted seller .
support escrow.
telegram:  higvoice

Afaik, such account require some sort of KYC essentially making the sale one of the prohibited on the forum

Services are added to this list when we come to believe that essentially no trades of such accounts are following our rules, which prohibit for example selling hacked accounts, accounts requiring KYC info, accounts created using stolen identities, etc. If you have a really strong argument for how you're selling these accounts without violating our rules, create a topic in Meta explaining in detail, and we may consider either removing the service from this list or giving you a one-time exemption.

I would also suggest OP to check with bitify first if this violates their terms of service because there's a good chance it is.
698  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: FAKE ONLINE GURU @hustlemantherapper on: August 13, 2023, 11:55:19 PM
Some reply also said you edited the post and first time you write that the scammer ig account was Eloy Rivera, which is similar as your bitcointalk username, I will give benefit of the doubt and assume that you mistakenly copy your own ig account profile url

I'm not sure about that because there are strong points indicating OP was talking about @eloyriverax originally and not @hustlemantherapper.

First, they mentioned Eloy twice in the OG post:

he couldn't show anything and I suspect that the account was varifed because eloy Rivera is the name of someone from BBA (big brother Argentina)
I don't believe that the currect instagram owner of this page is Eloy, eloy didn't speak any or much English and this Scammer on instagram speaks perfect English..

Second, the instagram account https://www.instagram.com/eloyriverax/ also matches this description. I couldn't find any previous post about @hustlemantherapper.

Quote from: OP
and I've seen that on Bitcointalk.org he's already been talked about as a scammer

See: [SCAM ALERT] Verified Instagram Account: Eloy Rivera

Third, @hustlemantherapper doesn't have BAYC profile picture but @eloyriverax does

Quote from: OP
I texted him and clowned the shit out of him, he couldn't show his open sea or meta mask ( he has a BAYC pfp)

It's hard to buy that OP mistakenly posted @eloyriverax's instagram account link after all this.
699  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Alleged Phishing Attempt on: August 13, 2023, 10:06:50 PM
This was my initial suspicion and glad that someone else has confirmed it. Definitely going to take your advice... henceforth I'm going to be using a single email across all board for crypto related stuff. It will enable me pin down any where a suspected attack is emanating from.

and if you wanna up your game further, look into email forwarders, they let you create unlimited alias email addresses that are also easy to disable. In short you could create 1 alias per service easily. Some providers to look into are Anonaddy or Simplelogin.

There are also disposable email providers like mail.tm which is perfect if you just wanna test a website.

For publicly-known data breaches, there are websites that tells you if your email has been involved in one. On top of my head are haveibeenpwned.com and monitor.firefox.com
700  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Legal firm recommendations (UK)? on: August 13, 2023, 08:16:15 PM
My funds are blocked in Blockchain.com custodial wallet (Trading account). I've been using their service for 10+ years with a fully verified account.

Once I decided to withdraw my funds, they put the transaction "In review" and it is in this state for months. Of course, I raised this with support, but I am getting non-sense replies without clear explanation what is the actual problem.

Disappointed but not surprised. They're kinda known for testing your patience when things go south and you'd need their hand to fix it.

Most recent case I remember:

Good news: after 2 months and 8 days of waiting, Blockchain Exchange finally sent me the funds. I will never use Blockchain again, let that be sure!

This was their comment:

Due to a breach of our terms and conditions, your account has been suspended. The funds have been refunded to the crypto address you have provided and the account holds no custodial funds.

Unfortunately, we are not able to provide any details about individual applications or specific reasons for rejection. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Back to your question, I know kroll.com from the crypto news I've read and from what I'm seeing they're on lots of locations including UK and Luxembourg. But I would guess, they're more expensive than the rest in the market. Have you tried writing to UK subreddits as well? for instance: https://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinUK/
