721  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Bitcoin is Spreading to Online Casinos on: May 04, 2016, 01:04:14 PM
Bitcoin (and associated alts) are pretty much perfect for gambling.

They are a step removed from 'real' fiat money, meaning people will more readily bet them than cash (much like casino chips)
They are easy to send and pay out winnings in too, i.e. the bet can be placed in a wallet and immediately the winning paid to the sending address if it wins.
It is wordwide, just like gambling.

Bookmakers and casinos have been slow on the uptake really.
722  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: May 04, 2016, 01:01:34 PM
I really hope it is an all Madrid final now, and that Atletico win.
Real should roll over City tonight, maybe I am just saying that having bet on City vs Soton and watching them get destroyed!  But I think Real should win quite easily.
723  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What will be ethereum price in 2 years from now ? on: May 03, 2016, 12:55:26 PM
Can anyone name me an Altcoin that was around 2 years ago that has significantly increased in price?
Without looking I would guess that there are none.

It might be different for ETH, but it is odds against.

Answering my own question, but Ripple is up 25% or so and DASH is up about 400% Maidsafe is up about the same.
I had never heard of DASH and Maidsafe back then, or were they rebranded?

726  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig Wright's Agenda on: May 02, 2016, 12:48:09 PM
Maybe he is trying to force the real Satoshi's hand.
If he take all the plaudits and starts to make important decisions regarding Bitcoin, then maybe the real Satoshi would be forced to show his face to stop him.

Just a theory, but it could be the case.
727  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: May 01, 2016, 07:29:02 AM
I think Liverpool at Swansea look a good bet at 2.18.  They are playing well at the moment and Swansea don't really have anything to play for.

I can see Leicester drawing with Man Utd and Man City winning too.  They also seem to be finishing strongly
728  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: VI FREE Tipster Competition -sponsored by DirectBet- (Discussion Thread) on: May 01, 2016, 07:23:37 AM
when will the main thread be unlocked? It is the 1st of May now and I placed my first bet for the competition!
I hope it counts and I didn't bet too early.

Come on Liverpool!

Are they paying the current ones!?
731  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: April 30, 2016, 11:43:50 AM
I like Darmstadt at home at more than 2.5 vs Eintracht.  I know Eintracht need to win and all, but 2.5 at home against a poor team?

Only a small bet, but worth a go I think
732  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: April 30, 2016, 11:40:27 AM
Palace are concentrating on the cup, nothing to play for, Newcastle are fighting for their lives. I am backing Newcastle with my heart, even if my head has reservations!

Arsenal should win easily and I think Bournemouth might be worth a little bet too.
733  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The British government is considering paying out research grants with bitcoin on: April 28, 2016, 08:06:15 PM

Wow that's good news. I heard that the Bank of England launched their own bitcoin.
Which means the British are closely watching the developments in bitcoin.

Launched their own bitcoin? What does that even mean?!! If they made an altcoin it isn't making their own Bitcoin!

It sounds like they want to have an online ledger to keep track of research grants, I doubt they will be using bitcoin for that though.
734  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: April 28, 2016, 08:02:29 PM
Not a good night for Spain so far.  I can still see Sevilla getting something out of tonights game and winning the 2nd leg.

Not so sure with Villareal, they might both settle for a 0-0 and fancy their chances in the 2nd leg.
735  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can bitcoin be divided beyond satoshis? on: April 28, 2016, 08:25:28 AM
Currently you are not able to divide it beyond as satoshi is the smallest introduced unit. However, if it ever becomes needed, additional units could be added that are smaller than a single satoshi (e.g. 1 000 000 Laudas = 1 Satoshi). I don't think that it will come to that though.

Good luck actually making it happen if it does somehow become necessary!  If they can't reach agreement about anything else, I don't see people agreeing on spliting the Satoshi.

It is 1 billionth of a bitcoin anyway. At $100,000 per bitcoin , 1 satoshi would be worth 1/100th of a cent.  I think it would be generations before it would be necessary, and then only because so many coins would be lost.
736  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: April 28, 2016, 08:22:05 AM
The game was good, but it is perfectly set up for the second leg too.

The Man City game also looks like it could be interesting, I fear if Ronaldo is back he could get an early goal or 2 and kill off the tie, but if Man City score first then it is game on!
737  Economy / Economics / Re: Big news for Bitcoin on: April 27, 2016, 05:33:37 AM
International money transfers and gambling seem to be 2 of the biggest and best markets for Bitcoin.
Carribean based bookies reall should be using Bitcoin.

I especially like the gambling sites where you don't have to log in or register, just sent a bet to an address, then if you win you get your winnings.  How much easier and safer (no personal info sent to some unknown company) can you get.
738  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First transaction ever in Steam (video) on: April 27, 2016, 05:30:18 AM
It's good that steam is accepting Bitcoin, but is there a real advantage to paying with Bitcoin over with card/paypal in Steam?

Is there a discount ot something? otherwise it is just a nice extra place to be able to use Bitcoin.

739  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: April 27, 2016, 05:24:24 AM
LOL, it seems like no one expected that this match under 2.5 goals it even no goal on this match. My bet also lose over 2.5 goals and both teams to score.

yeaaaa everyone expecting a tight game with so many goals would created between aguero and ronaldo.
they pulled out ronaldo from the player list vs manchester city after they announced he is not fit enough.
0-0 was really unexpected , atleast we expect a goal from real madrid but joe hart play brilliantly.

Not nobody, I said yesterday that unders was a good bet as it is a first leg and they are often a tetchy afair.
I think both teams will take positives out of the game.  Real lost badly in the quarters in the away leg, so 0-0 is a big improvement for them.

But for Man City they now know that a draw or a win in Madrid will be enough for them.  If they get a goal then Real will need 2, not that that is unlikely!

Maybe it is time to reload on ETH:

Btw, I think a double-top for ETH at $15 is likely. Too much bad news has come out, sentiment is negative, and I had always said it would bounce at $7. There needs to be a GPU mineable alternative to Bitcoin, same as the role Litecoin provided. It doesn't matter that ETH has no adoption. It is purely a store-of-value arbitrage/speculation proposition.

Has your account been hacked?  Or is it just speculation and you are still ardently against most (all?) alts?
I won't be buying more Eth at the moment, it might double top, but I'm sure it can do it without me.

Devs selling at a top is rarely a good sign.
