Her voice deepened, her eyes became doe like and she said "wherever you want to..."

She was probably working too. Tongue Phishing to see if you are a potential client.

Well, might as well pick up a quick hundred or whatever. To me though it just made me feel kind of sad. Obviously I still remember it, but that's Vegas in a nutshell.

But then, I am not allowed to live in Vegas. The cabbie told me so.

Vegas seems quite nice!! Hilton is nice and the water even smells nice here!!
People don’t seem to be very friendly/social here though..

I'll never forget walking from the MGM over to the Sands hotel for a conference. It was the best way to get there and early in the morning was a nice walk.

One day I was walking and a nice enough woman in jogging pants and sweatshirt was walking as well. We struck up a conversation, chatted about life and such, then when I had to make my turn to go to the Sands I said "well I'm off to work, where are you off to"

Her voice deepened, her eyes became doe like and she said "wherever you want to..."

And I was like FUCK. Everyone around here is just working an angle. There is no human interaction that isn't paid for in some way. Granted she saw my look and said she was kidding but I was like "well, so much for that" and went off to work.

Vegas: Really nice place but no soul. That said I'm glad I am not there otherwise I would wind up with another Patek watch......

Hm. Has someone checked in on Proudhon? Just want to make sure they're ok.

Yes, each post on WO is another dollar in the pocket from each bitcoin HODLed.

So should we post TA (Transactional Analysis) or TA (tits and asses)?

Let's peek into complex system theory a bit.
One rule of (handling) complexity says: "Simple answers to complex questions, as well as simple solutions for complex problems, are generally wrong / going to fail".

Nuff said.

I have found Occam's razor a pretty effective tool to cut though "complex bullshit" problems. Your mileage may vary.

Regarding bitcoin people are talking doom here. Did it crash to like 800 again? (checks) No still stuck in the doldrums of 27,000.....
726  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 29, 2020, 06:22:19 PM
Moving is complicated. A big problem is you may have family/friends/whatnot at the old place who you can fall back on if things go weird short-term. Move to a new place and that's not there. So the lack of any kind of a safety net (social or financial) keeps people from just being able to "move".

That's totally not counting the xenophobic nature of people to reject anyone new in their community.

..

Bitcoins? Who said anything about bitcoins? I was thinking about different types of corn. But I'm sure you see.

Ah.... :-)

Seriously, if you are counting on a single cheap NAS it's better to give your data to Bowsette....

She'll take care of it.
I wouldn't mind her taking care of some of my data.

Oh yeah. Whenever I hear "give us your bitcoins and we will take care of it!" I think of an image like this.

On the one hand, I find this terrible; running RAID-less storage units.

On the other hand, you are duplicating NAS A onto NAS B at regular intervals.

My brain is beginning to cook just a little bit.

Technically he is doing disk duplexing: Two disks, two controllers, two channels.

I always found custom raid controllers to be the worst possible idea: Not only are you reliant on the N+1 disks, you're relying on the controller not blowing a hole in itself and sinking everything. Bonus if you can't get a new controller/same version. Super bonus fuckage if the controller stores all the disk information in its eeprom instead of on-disk.

Seriously, if you are counting on a single cheap NAS it's better to give your data to Bowsette....

She'll take care of it.

From CNN:

What the #)$*#@)($ is happening with Bitcoin's insane record run?

https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/27/investing/bitcoin-record-trnd/index.html

Bitcoin is crashing upwards.....

I just love it.

I have always thought that Elon Musk is behind of BTC...  Smiley

I wonder about that. I mean I got Musk's flamethrower and it is nice.

Speaking of which, looks like the president signed the "fuck everyone over for $600" law. So bitcoin will now moon again.

My TA says we are running too hot right now.  Currently we are at the March 2021 price and it’s only December so we are roughly three months ahead of schedule.

Likely scenarios are:

1. My TA is shit

2.  We are aiming for a 2013 crash (although I would say we have not yet gone parabolic so this is a lower risk)

3.  We will stagnate at this price for 3 months and everyone will get bored

4.  This time it is differentTM and This Is Gentlemen please pick the colour of your helicopter (no black helicopters please)

5. We are going to have a mild dump heading into early January and then bounce.

Personally I’m going with option 5.  Again I am not trading this - it’s not worth the risk.

Edit: If we make it to 15 January without a meaningful drop, options 2 & 4 become more prominent (never forgetting option 1).

Gotta have at least one black helicopter. It's a fashion statement.

But to be honest if things stay >20k I'll still be amazed. This 28k stuff is beyond nuts.

1 BTC will eventually be worth more than all of every fiat currency that has ever existed combined.. Eventually..

And this is why I really think my idea of having tattooed on one's forehead "this brain has the passcode to a 10btc wallet. Revive me and it is yours" is a really good idea if you are going to be cyro preserved. When that much money would buy a planet they will have a serious incentive to revive you with all memories intact.....

735  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 26, 2020, 07:11:16 PM
The flip side being that if nobody sells, the price can't go up anymore either !

But that's too imaginary. Do you really think that in a $479,028,551,331 market cap market literally nobody is going to sell?

At that price, 1 BTC would pretty much equal one Lambo so I guess I would have to sell one. *sigh*
736  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 26, 2020, 02:21:39 PM
Yup. I have been too busy pleasuring myself to sell any bitcoin lately.

737  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 26, 2020, 02:58:18 AM
Shit, we gotta post more. A 28k cap would be sad.

Looks like it peaked at 24958 on Stamp. That's...... good.

They have a lot of lawyers and guns bro.

So they do as they please.

Sure. They back their "fiat" coin with force and fraud, and we back bitcoin with objective truth and math. I prefer the latter.

Merry Xmas brethren! See you next year you know where...  Wink hookers & blow included...  Grin

I was talking to an old friend the other day who was a miner and we were chatting about what kind of airplanes we might buy.

Then we realized that by next year we might be talking about what kinds of airlines we might buy.....

Merry Christmas everyone. It's been a wild year in a lot of ways, but I really appreciate this forum. No matter what the background, political persuasion, opinion, or belief about the activities of the Machine Elves, we all have bitcoin in common. And that's neat.
