I never ever get people that troll or FUD. I don't understand the reason. What is the psychological makeup of these people. Do they thing it's an effective way of interacting with people. I wonder what your wife, spouse of mom or dad would think of this, your work peers... Would they look at it as funny, whity or productive. Are these people that troll have other deeper psychological issues from childhood? Anti social behaviour triggered by some traumatic past experience that are now Mal adjusted and feel the need to see read their misery to others? I don't really know... But Mr. White would be a great case study....

Anyone knows a legitimate way to short DRK when having 0 DRK?
A derivatives contract. You just put a bet out there, and see if someone else wants to take the other side of it. Go in the darkcoin thread and i bet you will find a bull who would take the other side assuming you offer him a greater return than he would get from simply holding dark. If someone takes you up on your contract than i would be happy to escrow for you guys. Check out my rep thread in signature. Thanks for the tip but nevermind, price already dropped a lot and I was looking for a place like Bitfinex to short easy. Also I don't know if any DRK whales will come up with hundreds of BTC to keep the price up, I read something in the DRK thread about that but I doubt that (a) big player(s) are still that confident to artificially keep the price high at this moment. Oh so if it happens with DRK, it's artificial, but XMR is 100% natural. Don't look at the rpietillian behind the curtain! |

Guys, please don't let your sentimental attachment to the old name cloud your judgement. Darkcoin would never gain traction outside of dark markets and nerds. When I brought it up to anyone outside of crypto, people had immediate negative reactions to the name. It makes sense to us, but for others dark= bad, criminal, evil etc.

Rebranding is a step in the right direction. I've always thought that Darkcoin's weakest link was the name. Having Dark in the name makes it all to easy for people to dismiss it as a criminal oriented currency. If that isn't clear to you, bring up Darkcoin to anyone who isn't involved in crypto. The immediate impression is very likely to be negative.

This doesn't change my negative view of Zerocoin/Zerocash. Even if they have reduced the risk, the fact is that the opportunity for collusion still exists. It can never be eliminated nor detected if it did happen. Considering the enormous economic incentive associated with colluding, this is DOA. Might have applications somewhere, but not as an anonymous alternative to Bitcoin.

I find the bitching about DRK's fastmine/instamine to be petty. Yes it happened. Don't like it, don't invest. I think DRK will see success regardless, because most people couldn't care less about a fastmine. And if it does see success, going around and bitching about the fastmine makes you an envious loser. In the end, I will support whoever has the best solution. Monero has an awesome team behind it, so who knows.
