741  Economy / Service Discussion / Anyne managed to get a Trusted level account at MtGox? on: May 06, 2013, 09:45:14 AM
Just checking if this is possible in practice.
742  Economy / Speculation / Re: For those who still doubt China is a hype on: May 06, 2013, 07:40:46 AM
Obviously some people from the party bought bitcoins and are now pumping it.
743  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 06, 2013, 07:29:50 AM

great rendering of the triangle that confirms my suspicions of an imminent correction/downward breakout.

I don't buy that one - why the triangle is going throught the point at Apr 29 and not Apr 23?  The triangle involving the 266 hight was already broken, but now we can have another one starting at the low point and then Apr 29 high and resting on Apr 23.
744  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 05, 2013, 12:48:47 PM
I have a feeling that goat is right. It will visit double digits today after all, one last time. Remember to buy yours then! Smiley

Don't listen to him - this is his own wall and he wants you to sell into it.

Just speculating Smiley

Yeah, a supernode with a few hundred thousands $ + a few thousands BTC. Man, it's cheap to be a "supernode" in the BTC world! So what's Loaded or KnightMB... Or Gavin BTW?

According to my classification of supernodes, roughly the following amounts of bitcoins, coupled with the actual abilities to use them profitably, entitle you to the supernode status:

0.0th class supernode = BTC1M
0.5th class supernode = BTC100,000
1.0st class supernode = BTC10,000
1.5th class supernode = BTC3,000
2.0nd class supernode = BTC1,000
2.5th class supernode = BTC300
3.0th class supernode = BTC100

Yes, I also think it is ridiculously cheap to be a supernode. But don't worry, it will become more expensive when the time is ripe. As I have been trying to say, in my view Bitcoin is insanely undervalued Wink

Even in these MLM-like NLP-based games Vladimir was better.
746  Economy / Speculation / Re: woah so many bulls in the /spec/ forum on: May 04, 2013, 05:46:27 AM
I don't quite understand you. Are you saying that bears are just bulls in disguise?
lets say i sold all at 200
i want to buy at 40

the question is what if it never gets to 40 ?
what's my influence on the market ? i already sold i cant push the market down even more the only thing is buy
sentiment = bearish
action=only buy=bullish

That's why the down move will not be a continues smooth slide - but rather a series of bumps.  Soon there will not be people that sold at 200 and want to buy - but rather people who sold at 200, bought at 140, sold ..., bought ....  Some of them will be earning on each sell/buy rounds, but probably most will be bleeding slowly.
747  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can't get my fiat in fast enough! on: May 03, 2013, 09:36:27 AM
I can't get my fiat into Gox fast enough.  I need to buy bad!  We have all seen the high's and there is no reason we can't touch them again and even shoot past.  It's a no-brainer to buy under $100 right now.

I blame the crazy amount of bank holidays this week and the frenzy of alt-coin mining going on for this amazing buy opportunity.

We'll find out next week then.
748  Economy / Speculation / Re: Myself chart thread :D :D on: May 03, 2013, 07:57:09 AM
did anyone here get wet for selling at 100 and to buy back at 40 Cheesy Cheesy

so all the  traders are wet for this  i hope you understand that there is no room for all  Grin and most will have to panic buy

I don't think so - I would rather expect most to slowly bleed out or give up after a few failed bottom fishing - just like in 2011.
749  Economy / Speculation / Re: [VOTING] COINLAB SUE VS GOX | Price Predicition? on: May 03, 2013, 07:40:00 AM
The question is if MtGox will need additional cash for the process and start selling bitcoins for it.
750  Economy / Speculation / Re: [poll] buying back lower on: May 02, 2013, 04:50:02 PM
I just got my last buy order in.  Hoping this is the bottom of the downturn.  I think when the Bitcoin2013 happens on May 17-19, there will be some positive news which should spike BTC back into the $145 range pretty easily. Also guessing that the top could be around $195 at that time.  Feeling bullish lately.

Here's a link to the Bitcoin2013 conference.

The conference did not help much in 2011.
751  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which alt-coin do you think is the best hedge against Bitcoin? on: May 02, 2013, 07:24:31 AM
I like PoS as an improvement over the insane amount of electricity needed to maintain the bitcoin network.
752  Economy / Speculation / Re: How long until Oprah discusses Bitcoin? What effect will it have on the price? on: May 01, 2013, 09:13:26 PM
After some more considerations I think that there are chances that it'll happen - when she finds a housewife that lost her house speculating on MtGox.
753  Economy / Speculation / Re: How long until Oprah discusses Bitcoin? What effect will it have on the price? on: May 01, 2013, 09:05:24 PM
These fantasy threads
754  Economy / Speculation / Re: Yet another analyst :) on: April 28, 2013, 07:04:17 AM
Triangle still here. Almost completed.

How about putting A where you have C?  Then the down move now would be B and C would be 200 or something?
755  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitfinex interest rates on: April 27, 2013, 05:52:42 PM
By the way is bitfinex big enough to start and stop rallies like Bitcoinica did?
756  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ripple price will drop on: April 26, 2013, 08:25:59 AM
explain yourself. wtf kind of thread is this. this is fucking FUD at least explain and cite the 'news' you're trying to tell...

jesus christ this makes me mad

wtf has happened to this place? corrections to the trend happen, guys... learn2trade.

Are you another who buy in at 255$ get a life price is going down now.

no. this is ridiculous. i spend many, many hours doing analysis and i still don't get to say "okay price does this now".

"ripple price will drop". REALLY?

this is FUD, plain and simple, and it's spam more generally.

gtfo

He is not really talking about bitcoins but rather 'ripples' - the new currency from https://ripple.com/ (and I kind of agree with him, Ripple declares upfront that they'll discourage speculation).

I vote for moving this thread to AltCoins.
757  Economy / Speculation / Re: Arepo's Detailed Price Analysis and Projections on: April 25, 2013, 07:43:27 PM
Was it really triangle - it looked like a wedge (http://www.investopedia.com/terms/w/wedge.asp) for me (and I was selling).

yes, it was a wedge, that is, it did not exhibit lower highs and higher lows, but higher lows and higher highs.

since both of these patterns are associated with large volume breakouts, i tend to look at them as two manifestations of the same underlying behavior. the idea of the price function behaving like a dampened oscillator (sine function with decreasing amplitude), is associated with consolidation. forgive me for using the word 'triangle' too liberally.

I really only repeat what I read here and on some reference materials like investopedia - but my understanding is that wedge was susceptible to trend change - that is when it was going up - then it was probable that when it breaks it will go down, with triangles I don't see similar remarks on investopedia.
758  Economy / Speculation / Re: Arepo's Detailed Price Analysis and Projections on: April 25, 2013, 06:49:19 PM
don't worry, something's about to happen this time.

haha great pic, i had a good laugh Cheesy

as for the test, i realize that it was pretty unscientific of me to 'readjust' the breakout time after the first call -- what i ought to have done was provide error bars for the time in the first place -- which inspired me to measure triangles with more statistical rigor. geometric measurements clearly are not enough. what properties tend to lead to successful breakouts? what properties tend to lead to unsuccessful breakouts? and what properties lead to no breakouts at all, and are simply other patterns or just noise masquerading as triangles?

as for the one i was looking at last night,

the 'breakout attempt' occurred at around 5:00 am EST, so, as i calculated before, about 100%200% error. however, it failed -- i suspect because of low volume.

however, the triangle itself is still very robust, and the price did not begin trending sideways until after 5 am. unfortunately, being able to identify triangles is useless until i learn how to measure them more precisely Tongue

regardless, i appreciate the constructive criticism Wink hopefully i will return with an improved model. i have some work to do.

759  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Pro Manipulators Are Here on: April 25, 2013, 06:38:39 PM
Pro manipulators start by building a reputation in the forums by posting their analysis of the current bitcoin market.  Once they develop trust they will use their acquired trust to their own advantage.  They may even have multiple accounts.

I have witnessed this in action while trading stocks on Wallstreet and on Yahoo! forums.  When Yahoo Finance was first introduced in the 1990s, it was a crazy wild west.  Everyone including day traders, mutual fund managers, bankers, etc. would go to these forums and spew ridiculous claims.  It came to a point where people sued other forum board members, and some were even prosecuted.  Imagine if that would ever happen today!  Laws were created that disallowed mutual fund managers to post in the forums, including Yahoo Finance and SiliconInvestor.

However, even though these laws were created I have seen manipulation that is illegal, but due to anonymity they cannot be caught and prosecuted (this was about 10 years ago).  For example, I remember navigating the Yahoo Finance forums and one user was making a lot of good calls between different stock boards.  This user then made a call to buy stock in xxx because of insider information.  A lot of people started buying the stock and then a few days later the company was worth nothing.  This still happens all the time with penny stocks and it used to be "more illegal", but nowadays it's a free for all due to "freedom of speech".

I'm pretty sure you guys all know this and I am preaching to the choir.  :}

Start with MtGox owner quipping about money in- and out-flows.

these threads are as idiotic as are "10000, here we come" ones... random nobody opens a thread and post 100 million dollars prediction ...

kids and computers..

I use them as an indicator.
