761  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON -- HARD FORK 2015-08-04 - MANDATORY UPDATE TO 0.9.0.0+ REQUIRED on: August 28, 2015, 03:06:44 PM
Just a note to say that my pool appears to be comfortably past 50% at the moment, and that while I'm not planning on 51%ing aeon, you wouldn't just trust some guy on the internet not to, right ?
While Arux's pool appears to be down, the daemon can solo mine, which should still be a reasonable option for large hash miners that can handle the RAM usage.

I think, also minergate is alive.

Seems to be yes. For a while they claimed to be up but their pool stats page was still broken. Now it appears to show a recently found block, so I guess it is fixed.

Sounds good, mining there now. Nice thing about Minergate is that anyone can easily set up and mine on most commonly used computers.

As I like this one long term, CPU mining even makes sense. Smiley
762  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: PotCoin | GROW WITH US | CRITICAL WALLET UPDATE - POSv | on: August 28, 2015, 12:11:33 AM
It is so futile to use reddit or ANY other means, besides this one, since only a very, very, extremely very few, reads any of it.... That would be number one. But even more importantly, what the fuck is going on with the inability to withdraw from the main exchanges? It's been MANY weeks and still no solution in sight? This is simply outrageous... Is the main developer going to answer this question and offer some kind of plausible explanation and, perhaps, a detailed what is being done to solve this of just continue avoiding it altogether?

This is a very interesting project going -was- in the right direction with the adoption of POSv... which is quickly becoming just another POS ... in the traditional meaning of the nomenclature...

Reddit is where the devs are posting, NOT here. If you had kept up on reddit you would know whats going on with the exchanges, you would know that poloniex is back on, bittrex is waiting for the upgrade error to go away and cryptsy, who the fuck knows. As far as I know there are other exchanges to buy/sell, your not stuck with only the top 3.

As far as pot becoming just another pos coin, I have to disagree on that one. The move to POSv2.0 was a smart one, despite the overall rate being 5-6%, the individual stake rate is looking to be about 15% while most coins are not staking. POSv2.0 splits the 5-6% of the total supply among the actively staking coins, the fewer coins active, the higher the stake rate for the coins that are.

TLDR; Reddit is the place to interact with the devs, we are waiting for cryptsy and bitt to get off their ass and the stake rate will likely always be higher than 5-6%, I estimate we bottom out and start averaging 7-8% minimum.

I know that Mintcoin had a much higher stake rate than stated as most were not staking, and eventually those that just were staking and waiting did *very* well with it.

This being the first Potcoin and having a good staking system like POSv, along with increasing legalization efforts make it a very strong contender long term, imho. Assuming they do well with marketing and making this a very stable functional coin over time.

(I am sure Cryptsy will get the wallet updated eventually, and asking them does help...)
763  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitShares 2.0 - Just the Facts Thread on: August 27, 2015, 07:15:30 PM
Bitshrares 1.0 was very ambitious, but if 2.0 really pulls it off this is one of the most underpriced options out there.

I own some and it is worth doing the research on, as the price is very nice right now. (Near historic lows right about when the best potential update is coming)
764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] Expanse (EXP) - Fair Mining, Fair Launch, No ICO, Based on Ethereum. on: August 27, 2015, 04:50:41 PM
Expanse will be epic...ETH is all about hype. It will die sooner or later. I really see EXP as a very promising coin. Still anxiously waiting for its release  Roll Eyes

Sounds like Franko should be ready in a couple days so we are getting closer. Not to hype, just keeping everyone in the loop and that it is moving forward.
765  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNOFFICIAL] VNL | Vanillacoin 0.3.2 | DarkPP/MinerPP/CoinPP | ZeroTime BETA! on: August 27, 2015, 02:44:03 AM
boolberry technically is a much better cryptonote than monero, however boolberry is dying.
Do you know why?
Because it has a ridiculous name for a currency, as vanilla.
This coin needs to change name.

That has little to do with it actually. Although "Boolberry" does sounds like a breakfast cereal.

Look into the history of those two coins more and the branding wasn't the main issue, it was more connected to Supernet, the fall of BTER and other factors, like who was mining what.
766  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: PotCoin | GROW WITH US | CRITICAL WALLET UPDATE - POSv | on: August 26, 2015, 05:57:57 PM
I bought a few myself on Cryptsy, and I will definitely be staking them once I can withdraw.

How many? If you want, I can send you some coins for an internal transfer at cryptsy. I don't have much actively staking, but I am willing to help a brother out Smiley

Around 400k on Cryptsy, but I am good, once they have it ready I will withdraw and stake.

Potcoin has held pretty stable value for a very long time and is the first Potcoin, even with selling pressure from mining, so with some decent marketing I think it should have a bright future without much risk.

768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHIFT] Based on ethereum. GUI wallet and server software is close to done. on: August 26, 2015, 12:35:33 AM
What past coin projects have you been involved in?

Is there any reason the team is anonymous?

The Node System for Horizon is closed source, isn't it? So how would you use it?

Are there any reason that you, who is behind EXP (another ethereum fork), is asking which other currency projects we have been involved in? The answer to that question is, zero.

You mean that the "idea" of paying bountys for running a Shift node is closed source? Second, why would shift who is based on ethereum use a bounty system made for a NXT-based clone (if it were open source) ?

If you feel that we are a threat to EXP, please say so directly. If you feel that we have misinterpreted your concerns, please feel free to say so Smiley

We come in peace

Regards

EDIT: as a sign of consideration, why not join us? i mean, you could probably contribute a lot, and vice versa

I was just curious. Mostly because you mentioned using "Horizon Currency," and I was a part of the Horizon team in the past. (I would not have asked anything otherwise, and I am not a troll)

As for people working on open source projects and trying new ideas, I strongly believe in that and think that competition breeds innovation, and I wish you the best of luck. Smiley

Update, 83 more HZchronos sent to the genesis account and burned, 1434 remain. The rest of August is booked, along with all of September and October. Smiley

whats the news from slack, this thing going live soon?

I had hoped we would launch this month, but that is up to Franko when he is ready. Hopefully soon.

http://www.cryptocollectorsclub.com/vanillacoin-secrets.html

I wrote an article about Vanillacoin. Now, this is totally personal opinion and might be way off base, just my honest thoughts, but this is why I am holding some and mining.

This could be interesting! Btw, can i mine this on AMD apu?

AMD apu, I think those are for Laptops normally and not really traditional GPUs, so I don't think so. I believe for GPU mining you need a bit more power. If you have a laptop or no GPU, generally I think you are better off buying off the market rather than mining. You would use way more power than you would get profit, and likely straining your machine. It might be possible to CPU mine with your rig though if you really wanted to do it. (I would not do that personally however)

I don't want to look like someone who is inpatient... but actually I'm really inpatient Smiley. BTW where should I ask for a slack invitation? Defaced seems to be too busy to read his PMs. Maybe you guys have someone around who's not coding all the day and can send one.

For slack invite just PM me your email address. I need that in order to give out a slack invite. Thanks!

I will also check this thread every day and try to respond in a reasonable amount of time. I have odd hours and I am also helping with non coding stuff on the project, but I will read every post, and if I don't have an answer I will get one from the rest of the team.

I would like us to launch this month, so while that is just something that I would like and not an actual timeline, that is what I am hoping for. (no promises!) As soon as Franko is ready he should post the actual announcement.
775  Other / Off-topic / Re: Complete the sentence... "I would sell all my Bitcoins if..." on: August 20, 2015, 05:58:19 AM
"I would sell all my Bitcoins if..."... Ethereum wasn't such a good investment and the rest wasn't already tied up in the Augur ICO.
776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How about community takeover? on: August 20, 2015, 05:41:54 AM
IF more developers come and release their own forks, Bitcoin becomes an Altcoin.

That looks like an Altcoin to me?

This has been a community takeover since Satoshi left anyway, but really, please don't change the logo or the branding. Leave the basics alone. Block size, whatever works, who cares? You think we won't have computers with more storage in the future? Yes we will, so it will not impact decentralization either way. If Bitcoin ever gets big, storage problems will likely be a thing of the distant past by then.

"I'm out if Joe Mozeleski is involved in getting any part of the premine."

lol?

No, Daniel Conway is not Joe Mozeleski. I would post his Linkedin now but I figured I should ask first. So hang on for more details, but nothing whatsoever to worry about.

Hi, is there any particular reason why would people rather use Expanse over Ethereum?

1) We might have a *really* nice GUI wallet sooner.

2) The distribution is more aimed at miners, so some miners might be more interested, along with those that prefer that method of distribution over ICOs.

3) We will also share some of the reserve with those that have talent and help in meaningful ways, so there is incentive to join and and build it up.

4) Clearly it will start with a vastly lower marketcap, so there is some investment potential.

5) People joining the Expanse community are likely to have a much greater impact with their suggestions and ideas.

how we doin' here, days weeks?

Everything is coming together, hopefully the actual announcement will be up pretty soon. Smiley

Any new word on how the dev premine will work?

It will be in a smart contract and slowly distributed to the devs over time, and to those helping the project in meaningful ways. This would be over a long period of time of course.

Personally, I was thinking spread it out over a year, and then maybe a voluntary donation percentage from mining after that. So people could contribute beyond that if they wish to, or not. (assuming it stays proof of work long term)
