801  Other / Archival / Re: 🌀 [banned mixer] - CoinJoin Mixer | Your Anonymity Is Our Priority! on: October 23, 2023, 08:54:50 AM
For those unaware about it, Unijoin just published a new article [...]

The situation became even more complex with China’s plan to introduce a central bank digital currency (CBDC). While the digital Yuan is intended to enhance payment efficiency and reduce transaction costs, some Chinese citizens perceive it as a means for the government to exert greater control over payment systems and surveillance of users’ activities.

Thank you for sharing this article, iwantmyhomepaidwithbtc2!

Indeed, it's good to know (although the reality is very sad) what happens in China. Regarding their intent for CDBC, this is nothing new. I know since 2017 about these intentions they had. At same time, the overall situation is not good, since most of the miners are in China. However, China's approach toward crypto at large was not friendly since the beginning and the situation got only worst during years. I still hope though that their movements will not affect very bad the mining process.

803  Economy / Reputation / Re: Should Ratimov be in DT1? on: October 22, 2023, 08:22:00 PM
This is a short sum-up of events which followed after the launch of this topic:

- This topic exposes all Ratimov / Symmetrick's shenanigans from past years. This includes his copy-pastes and plagiarism, which brought him thousands of merits; his merit showers after he became a Merit Source, which helped him build an army of minions which supported him during time; his Trust abuses (false negative feedbacks, full only of insults and with no reference link; Trust extortion; retaliatory false feedbacks; retaliatory Trust exclusions).

- Many DT and non-DT users distrusted him or stop trusting him and, eventually, he is kicked out of DT and his DT strength goes from +13 to -11. The following DT users distrued or stopped trusting Ratimov aka Symmetrick: LoyceV, Foxpup, fillippone, The Pharmacist, 1miau, icopress, NeuroticFish, vapourminer, Poker Player, philipma1957, BitcoinGirl.Club, lovesmayfamilis, klarki, jokers10, zasad@, wwzsoki, JollyGood, holydarkness, Rikafip, Brainboss, bullrun2020bro, Stalker22, examplens, Bitcoin_Arena, witcher_sense, Charles-Tim, sheenshane, tvplus006, Coin-1, YOSHIE, yahoo62278, witcher_sense, DaveF, imhoneer, madnessteat, KTChampions, DireWolfM14 and myself. The following non-DT users distrued or stopped trusting Ratimov aka Symmetrick: suchmoon, mikeywith, DYING_S0UL, Nestade, iwantmysecond1000yardsbackyardpaidwithbtctoo, owlcatz, Learn Bitcoin, nakamura12, Despairo, SmartGold01, light_warrior, PowerGlove, execijutiere, Synchronice, Plaguedeath, giammangiato, SatoPrincess, Husires, sokani, Smartprofit, _BlackStar, Shamm, KingsDen, Silence Scream, Wapfika, Jossque, nimogsm, sky999, my luck, Snork1979, digaran, FatFork, dimonstration, EFS, Synchronice, bubbalex amd Grumlin.

- He started a mass purge of his old posts and topics (and the list from the link is not full), possibly some with plagiarism evidence, involving also in his actions the 2 Russian mods which he fools into becoming his personal garbage men, until theymos puts a stop to this (it was too late anyway). He even deleted his Merit Source application thread, which shows how much he appreciates the thread which helped him obtain a substantial part of the powers he had during years. For all these actions he received an official warning that he will be banned in case he will continue.

- He deletes all his left feedbacks, retracts all his support for flags and wipes his Trust list. As a consequence, he presents now no need to be trusted by anyone, since there is nothing to trust about his judgement / feedbacks left.

- After all these, he stops posting in international sections and resumes only to Russian local board.

- He stops earning merits with lightning speed; stops sending merits with lightning speed (if you check his merit activity you can see that lately he sent some merits at intervals of ~one week).

- Changes his name.

- Changes his email and password.

- After announcing almost 1 year ago that he'll sponsor a contest with ~1650$ (0.0435 BTC) only for trying to earn even more merits / popularity / reputation, seeing that he lost all his reputation he cancels his sponsorship with ~1 month before the contest ends. This may lead to some flags raised against him, in case the contest winners will decide to do so.

- Soon after, he decides to leave the signature campaign where he was enrolled.

- He is no longer a merit source. This was common sense, since he had no respect even for his Merit Source application thread, which he trashed as well. In fact, I actually stated this is what should happen, due to such lack of common sense..

- After my alusion from November 23rd about the possibility that Ratimov sold his account, new rumors about this matter appeared in a standalone thread, on December 7th.

- After the apparition of above mentioned thread, he received a 2 red tags from DT users for selling his account.

- On Dec 30th, 2023 he was banned.

(To be edited, in case other notable events will appear.)

Avem inca un articol publicat de UniJoin:

/en/blog/chinese-users-privacy-deep-dive-into-unijoin-bitcoin-mixer]Safeguarding Chinese Bitcoin Users' Privacy: A Deep Dive into [banned mixer]'s Bitcoin Mixer

805  Economy / Collectibles / Re: WTB- TREZOR 3 BITCOIN ONLY WALLET on: October 22, 2023, 07:36:09 PM
ledger kinda left a bad taste in my mouth when the announced their idea of storing the private keys as well. And yes, I know I will not be using it ever but that idea they came out to offer has stained them in my eyes.

No worry, I fully understand your point. I also keep my Ledger only as a collectible... I was thinking to raffle the other one but, if I get the chance to make a deal with someone without the raffle I won't say no to that Smiley This is why I made the suggestion.

Nevertheless, I understand your position. If you will change your mind, please let me know Smiley
806  Economy / Collectibles / Re: WTB- TREZOR 3 BITCOIN ONLY WALLET on: October 22, 2023, 05:51:29 PM
Hey krogoth, if you are interested in collectibles shaped as wallets, I have a Ledger Nano X branded by Betnomi. I won 3 such wallets at their raffles but I don't need all 3. If you want to see some pictures you can do it here. The wallet from those images is unsealed, but I am talking here about one which is sealed.

I used the unsealed wallet to check its hardware integrity and the result was that the wallet is not tampered.

If you are interested, please let me know.

811  Other / Meta / Re: Most iconic erm... I mean most ridiculous topics from Off-topic board on: October 21, 2023, 08:41:12 AM
If we're listing most iconic threads from the Off-Topic section, no list would be complete without mentioning this one

Thank you for your contribution, nutildah! Indeed, this is a must-be-listed topic =)))

It ran for 3.5 years before it got locked.

This must be very sad Sad

There was one member, dragonbird, who posted there 414 times... as a matter of fact, every post he ever made on the forum was in that thread, lol. He was a dedicated expert on the subject.

Such experts are rara avis. This also made me remember notbatman and Flat Earth topic, which was also, sadly, locked after so much academic debates. I listed both topics to OP.

Maybe it could be interesting to the Bitcoin community if we suggest nicknames that relate to Bitcoin..say, "BTC cupcake? Bit-plum?. Meh, some of these users be the reason I often wonder if the rules of each board are read before posting. Roll Eyes

There is no rule about the format of nicknames, while each board has its own rules.
812  Other / Meta / Re: Most iconic erm... I mean most ridiculous topics from Off-topic board on: October 21, 2023, 08:12:14 AM
This one here was just annoying and just like @lovesmayfamilis observed, it was a one lined question.

LMAO, I just added that topic to OP too =))) That's another good example of the ridiculous stuff posted in Off-topic board. I highly doubt that the discussion about finding a nickname for author's girlfriend "might be of interest to bitcoiners" (according to the description of the board).
813  Other / Meta / Re: Most iconic erm... I mean most ridiculous topics from Off-topic board on: October 21, 2023, 08:01:46 AM
In addition to these stupid topics, that section is full of answers that consist of one word [...] I think everyone understands that this is an open window for increasing activity.

That very well said, lovesmayfamilis! And this is also mentioned in the sticky topic of the board:

An example of what threads aren't allowed and posts that won't be tolerated:

https://archive.is/qqd4B

However, the bans applied in this section for breaking its rules are very low. Maybe posts get deleted for having zero-value and for being one liners but, since hilariousandco stated that bans will be applied for all these cases, I don't understand why many of these users don't get banned.

If you are caught spamming unsubstantial posts just to farm or rank up your account your account(s) will be immediately permabanned without warning.
814  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to post images from ImgBB (Jr. Members and up) -- Revamped on: October 21, 2023, 07:35:58 AM
I come back to this topic with one more update. Since imgur.com is not recommended anymore for uploading images on the forum, I presented a step-by-step solution for doing this using ImbGG website.

As a plus, after the issues with imgur, joker_josue developed a website dedicated to the forum for uploading images -- TalkImg. Feel free to use this website as well.

I added all this information to OP.
815  Economy / Exchanges / Re: eXch - instant exchange BTC / LN / XMR / LTC / ETH / ERC20 on: October 21, 2023, 06:58:20 AM
I was thinking if eXch would think to revamp this thread a bit.
I am personally not a big fan of that new tendency of graphic design used in some threads where one must scroll through large images full of visual distraction to find useful information, so I prefer text-only threads mostly. However, it's true that our OP here can be improved and icopress already provided us with a reasonable thread design that we will eventually update to after some editing.

Hey eXch, I just noticed the new shape of your OP and it looks very nice!

Other than that, I also noticed that you added two translations to OP. I have two mentions here: (1) would you like to have your topic translated in more foreign languages?; (2) the Portuguese translation is made for the old format of OP, thus sabotag3x (the author of the translation) should update it.
816  Other / Meta / Most iconic erm... I mean most ridiculous topics from Off-topic board on: October 21, 2023, 06:35:49 AM
According to the description of Off-topic board, the materials presented there should be "Other topics that might be of interest to bitcoiners. ".

Furthermore, according to the sticky topic from Off-topic board,

1. No zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts or threads.
...
3. No pointless or uninteresting threads.
Off topic is a section for any other topics that do not fit into any other sub, however, it is not a subforum for account farmers to lazily spam their way through the ranks and doing so will no longer be tolerated. If you are caught spamming unsubstantial posts just to farm or rank up your account your account(s) will be immediately permabanned without warning.

However, during time, I noticed many topics which have absolutely no connection to bitcoiners nor present any interest for them. So I decided to make a list with such topics (those interested are free to contribute), in part for the lulz, as they are hilarious, and in part thinking that maybe their authors may be banned for posting such content, which violates the description of the board and the rules quoted above.

1. I impregnated a girl! What do I do?

I call the author of this topic "the pastor sex guy" Smiley

2. Not gay but attracted to women with penis

3.
  • What is your bad habit in everyday?

I think this topic was deleted meanwhile, but mentioning it is still worth it, for showing one more "pièce de résistance" of Off-topic board /s

4.
This topic was also deleted, but it's another "precious gem" which lasted in Off-topic board for a while.

5. Finding Uniq nickname for my girlfriend..

6. Flat Earth

As of February 26, 2020, notbatman - the Supreme Leader of this gang - closed the gates of his Church, without any explanation, leaving the believers lost under the (flat?) Sun. The terrible news were brought by suchmoon: "Unfortunately Bitcointalk's most famous flatearther locked his thread after merely ~800 pages without conclusively proving whether the Earth is flat or not". After almost 5 years of hard, scientific debates, everything appears to be lost. Not entirely though, thanks to suchmoon, which although declined her competences on this delicate matter, she generously offered a shelter for these poor people who lost their leader, but hopefully, not their faith. Thus, with her help, maybe the remains of what was once a prosperous gang, will raise again!

7. Let's talk about how hot Asian girls are. [NSFW]

It is 187 pages of exactly what the title infers, with (NSFW) pics to back up the discussion.

This topic probably must be of very high interest for bitcoiners. Sadly, it was locked.

8. Pictures from Russia. NSFW!!!

To add to hot Asian girls NSFW topic, there is topic called ''Pictures from Russia. NSFW!!!'' https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=686828.0 It's actually one of first things what I discovered on Bitcointalk when I just joined forum.

9. BIBINKA WORD GAME!

This seems like a good place to leave this

Must be a very addictive game.

10. Tarot reading for Crypto

Predict your prediction with tarot card reading. Loool  Grin  Roll Eyes  Lips sealed

Tarot and Bitcoin. Definitely a good combination!

11. How come you guys don't like me bird videos

The sad guy with bird videos. Nobody understands him and that's very sad.

Local rule: those from my distrust list and those which have negative feedback from me are not allowed to post here.
817  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: List of useful Bitcoin block explorers on: October 20, 2023, 02:55:15 PM
It's a really difficult decision and maybe, our best solution is, if we do it like that:

First step: screenshot the current poll and save it (normal picture or even archive)
Second step: reset it and start it again, where we will add all current sites and remove inactive sites.

I think that is best decision, since having in the poll eliminated websites is not useful at all. So let's do it like this then Smiley

819  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: Bitcoin Wallet for Android stopped synchronizing with the blockchain on: October 20, 2023, 06:45:14 AM
I come back to this thread as I have some news.

I did not have time at all since I created the thread for properly investigating the instructions I found about extracting private keys from Bitcoin Wallet for Android.

As a side note, these are the instructions I found:
I just downloaded a bitcoin android mobile wallet. Where is my private key?
[HOW-TO] Export seed and private keys from your Bitcoin Wallet for Android
Got my recovery seed for android bitcoin wallet, but electron cash says 0 BCH
Recovering Bitcoins (provided by LoyceV -- thanks LoyceV!)

However, I managed to recover almost all the funds I had in the wallet.

Yesterday I decided to try to restore the wallet once more, although last time when I did it (at beginning of the year) it took me 3 weeks until the wallet synchronized with the blockchain. I started this operation yesterday morning and, by a miracle, this morning the wallet was synchronized. So it took me only ~24h.

I don't know how this happened. I have a guess though: during summer I got rid of almost all the funds from the wallet (I had only 0.29 BTC remaining -- I know, it's a very big amount) and, when I got rid of the funds from the wallet I also sent a lot of dust transactions which were compiled in a single transaction. For example, I remember I sent a transaction of ~0.1 or 0.2 BTC which had 147 inputs. So the funds which remained in the wallet were not composed only from dust transactions, but also from larger amounts.

So this is the only difference compared with my earlier try of restoring the wallet: this time it had a substantially lower amount inside it and that amount had also substantially less dust transactions. However, I don't know if this is the cause or not. I also made one more back-up of the wallet before proceeding and I noticed that its size was 6.5MB. In March its size was 6.1MB. So my problems started after the wallet size became greater than 6MB but, however, the problems were also influenced by the amount inside the wallet, which is very weird.

After the wallet was synchronized with the blockchain I made a transaction of 0.1 BTC, then a second one of 0.1 BTC, then a third one of ~0.008 BTC. I decided to work with small steps here, to make sure that the transactions are broadcasted by the wallet. Fortunately, all the funds arrived successfully at the new destination.

I had 0.00334 BTC remaining, which represented ~97$ and, when I tried to empty the wallet I saw that I can send only 76000 sats. Now I still have 262598 sats but I can not send them anymore. Probably the amount is composed only from dust transactions and this is why it can not be sent anymore.

This is what I see:

I may try in the future to extract the private keys and try to import them in Electrum to see if I can recover the remaining 262598 sats, although I am not sure if I'll ever be able to follow the steps from the above links. But, most important now, I feel relieved after I managed to recover 0.29 BTC from that wallet!

All in all, I can say that this wallet is very curious. It works fine until it reaches a size of 6MB, then... issues appear. I am also very sure that the hundreds (thousands) of very low transactions I had also contributed to this problem (I mean transactions under 0.001 BTC and, in many cases, even under 0.0005 BTC).

At same time, although I managed to solve this problem, I am still disappointed by the dev, which did not reply to my email even until now. This is not a professional approach, especially when their app is on Google Play and it's downloaded by thousands and thousands of users.

Later edit: things became even more curious as, after I left the wallet to "rest" for about 30 min, I could also send the remaining 262000 sats Oo It did not give me that error message anymore. So all funds were recovered! Hooray!

At same time, I backed-up also another Bitcoin Wallet for Android, from a different device, which has only a few transactions (probably under 300). The size of this wallet is 95KB. So it's 600 times smaller than my wallet  Shocked
In any case, I also observed that now the wallet with the problem synchronizes instantly with the blockchain, so it's certain the delay in synchronizing was determined by the huge amount of dust transactions it contained, although I see no logical explanation for this behavior. After all, it still has to parse all the blockchain blocks since November 2015, when I created it. Why is this parsing slowed down by the funds from the wallet will remain a mystery to me.

I don't know. I never saw this message when trying to quote posts from ignored boards.
In my case I can only see like a millisecond refresh of the screen (of the browser) and nothing happens. I tried with Firefox and Edge and I had same result in both cases.
I was not aware about that error message Oo
