Abit early but lets start betting on the Lima Major

Im going with this for the opening game

Pretty sure that PSG.LGD is going to dominate but Execration might win a single map against Tundra so yeah its kinda weird as most people will choose Tundra but this season, Tundra is not really dominating the DPC so there is a good chance that it they might win

LGD had a hard time getting qualified at first, but with how EG played I guess this would be an even matchup. Both of these teams seem to be just equal right now, so a draw might be imminent. As for Tundra and Execration, a draw is also highly possible. I can't really gauge who's the stronger team on the groupstage as most of those playing have had a rough start. I think doing draws on most of the matches on day 1 is a safe bet, and as the tournament progresses and we see the metas used by these teams we can safely pick, then maybe we can draw a conclusion on which teams will be able to get an edge against another.

LGD had no problem qualifying. They finished with just 1 defeat and were able to out play Aster on their tie breaker. Even with the current changes in their roster, they are still very good. And they belong to one of the strongest regions in Dota. While EG are coming from one of the weakest regions. Though EG finished second, the gap in the competition between CN and SA is wide. I think LGD will win in this match-up. I have not seen them yet start weak in a major so I believe they will start strong in Lima as well. It will not be that easy, but they will definitely win against EG.

Just over a day left before the Lima Major starts but there are still no odds for the matches on my favorite bookies.

The first day is filled with good matches. It is a pity they will play simultaneously so it will be hard to watch all the games. I will just follow the favorites and watch good DOTA. I will follow Tundra, Team Liquid, PSG.LGD and Aster. I believe one of these teams will win the Lima Major.

Here is the schedule for the group stage

GROUP A

GROUP B

However, one thing that is certain is that this "no-defense at all" all-star of the past decade or so, is actually quite horrible. I know I sound like an old guy and this has been going on for a while, it has been YEARS since there was any defense, but I just can't like this, it's really a horrible thing and definitely bothers me a lot.

Maybe the goal was to make it more entertaining by showcasing the offensive prowess of the all-stars but it backfired because we are not seeing basketball anymore. It is already a joke. Unless NBA put something on the line that will make the players want to defend and be competitive, the quality of all-star games will continue to degrade. Hopefully, the NBA will find a format that will improve it because it is supposed to be the best game since it is an all-star game.

And for Westbrook, they're just now finalizing the buyout with the Jazz and he'll go along with Paul Geroge and Kawhi.
Russell Westbrook signs with Clippers: Former MVP lands back in L.A. after Lakers trade
That's good news for WB. I don't doubt that he will be signed again but it took longer than other players that were also bought out.
Chemistry will not be a problem for him and PG13. Coach Ty Lue should see that when he lands at the Clippers, pair him up with him and maximize the strength as soon as they can.
Damn Clippers are getting scarier with their roster.

WB landing on a contender. It will be a slap to the face of the Lakers who treated him as a scapegoat if he performs well and help the clippers land a championship. Hopefully, Coach Ty Lue can devise a way to maximize the skills of Westbrook. I think he will not be a starter but WB will be a great addition coming from the bench.

I'm glad that you are smiling despite losing your bet. I presume you only bet just to have fun while watching the All-Star game. If Giannis had played, the outcome might be different as Giannis loves to attack the paint. So it's a mixture of 3-point shooting and dunk contest. Until next NBA All-Star mate, while the NBA is resting, we should rest as well, but we should be ready with our bankroll when the games resume.

I guess this thread will be silent for a while since it will be a few days' breaks in NBA. The games will resume Thursday night. You are right we should ready our bankroll but since it is only a few months before the playoffs start, I guess I will ease out on regular-season betting. I will reserve some funds for the playoffs.

Well the great stuff was Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum were giving themselves a great time playing

It is actually nice to see these two go against each other. It is also fun that the other players moved away to give space for these two to have a showdown.
805  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 20, 2023, 09:59:46 AM

It's Dame time!!!!!.
Dame made the nail in the coffin that gave the Team Giannis the victory. Now the Lebron winning streak has ended.

He tried to end it with a bang by shooting a half-court shot but after several tries, they decided to end it with a regular 3. It could have been nice if Dame made one of those half-court shots to end the game.

Nope, it's not all about how they design who plays in the East and who play is the West in the allstar game that decides the game to be serious or not, but it's them, it's today's NBA players that's making the allstar game obviously a joke. Grade schooler game is better than that allstar game lol. Every year passed, the allstar game is becoming less and less competitive. Though I understand that these players are also careful not to get injured, coz they still got a lot of schedules ahead of the allstar break, but at least they should've put an effort to make it more competitive.

I think it was mentioned that the coached did not even practiced with the team. They only gave them a few plays or whatever but from what I understand from it, the stars can just do whatever they want. It would not be competitive if it was like that from the beginning. I guess the stars do not want to get injured, but it would not hurt to make the game a little bit competitive.

Giannis though, looks like the wrist is really injured and he just used the left hand to score the first basket and then he went out. The league is still on the break though, so many players can still recover before going back to Friday's game.

You know he was hurting when he had a hard time carrying the trophy.
806  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Give it a break. on: February 20, 2023, 09:50:01 AM
For me, if I incur 3-day losing streak, I will stop for a while just to shake the jinx away. I believe that there are lucky weeks and there are not-so-lucky weeks. If I started to see that it is not a lucky week for me, then I would stop betting for that whole week and come back again the next week. It would reset my focus, take me away from bad thoughts about losing and give me time to replenish my funds.

I think your strategy is good. As long as it works for you, stick with it.

807  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 20, 2023, 04:41:12 AM
I wish it was going back to East vs. West and players wear their own teams jerseys. Team selections before the game was exciting though. We can say that's a good progress in this format.
First half was decent. Giannis only played for 20 seconds. LeBron's dunk was amazing. 3-pt contest champion Dame Dolla missed 7 in a row. Everybody scored except De'Aaron Fox. Kyrie and Tatum take the game more seriously. We'll see who wants to be MVP in second half though, I'm expecting LeBron to score more. We are watching an average All-Star game so far. I hope second half will be better.

Lebron did not play in the second half because of an injury. It is too bad since in the second half, his team needs his leadership. Team Giannis poured threes from everywhere. I think it was Dame who even made a half court three. Tatum does not seem to miss from the 3-point area. Team Giannis created a big lead in the 3rd quarter that made it hard for team Lebron to overcome in the 4th quarter.

Congratulations to Jayson Tatum for bagging the MVP award.

808  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: February 20, 2023, 04:31:05 AM
Really think your bet has a chance to hit. Since Lebron went out injured just as the half ended. He caught his fingers at the rim blocking a shot and it didn't look too good for him to return. So he is out for the remainder of the match.

Yeah, he did not come back to play anymore and Team Tatum, I mean Team Giannis let the 3's rain. Team Lebron also shot 3's but very few are hitting their mark. Tatum looked like he won't miss.

I find the All-star boring. Both teams are just shooting threes. Takes the excitement out of the game.

Just got lucky on my bet on Team Giannis. This is my first time betting on an all-star game and it's Giannis first time winning.

I am not familiar with Shopify Rebellion and I am surprised they have quite a high odd to win Lima Major. Is there anything particular with EG and Shopify that would get you excited about their series? They might not even meet since they are in different groups.
EG moved from NA to now South America and replaced the old roster which were the Shopify Rebellion's now(North America).
Oh, I see, that is something. Do they have beef because one took a slot from another or are we just speculating here?

But we are not sure if they will ever meet in this competition since they are in different groups unless both of them get into the Semis or Finals. Hopefully they will meet so we can judge if EG made the right decision or not.
810  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: February 19, 2023, 11:47:42 PM

Though Team Lebron has a perfect record in NBA All-Star games, I am picking Team Giannis this year. I like the idea of the 3 leading MVP candidates teaming up together to win the All-star games. The trio Giannis-Embiid-Jokic will be interesting to watch. They should have no trouble controlling the boards and with Doncic and Morant with them, they do not have a problem with quickness or playmaking. I bet, Team Lebron will have a hard time winning this year, unless Giannis serves this game to Lebron in a silver platter.

Less than an hour before the game starts, let us enjoy everyone and good luck with your bets.
811  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ESports betting -CS:GO, DOTA 2, LOL, Valorant - Sportsbet.io discussion thread on: February 19, 2023, 11:08:19 PM

Sounds like that is a common occurrence in the DOTA2 professional organization and tournaments from what I have read about it on that thread and the news links that were provided from the many sources on there thus far.

So maybe it is better to stick to betting on League of Legends then, right? They don't seem to have an issue with such hacks and cheats in their professional played tournaments.

Talking about LoL, I have my eye on betting on the LCK tournament tomorrow with TI and Damwon being the favorites in their two matches:
https://sportsbet.io/sports/league-of-legends/riot-lo-l/lck/matches

Valve should do something about it. If other games can implement good anti-cheat, valve should also be able to implement one.

Without a good anti-cheat engine, it will be hard to stop it since it is hard to really get evidence when games are played online. Good thing, major tournaments are played on LAN so there is no chance that teams can cheat.

I am not really a fan of LOL so I cannot make bet on them since I am not familiar with the teams.

Game fixing is bad, but it is in every sport, I think. All the organizers can do is set a deterrent by placing penalties and bans on proven game fixers. But if a team really is determined to game-fix,  they will do it. All the organizer can do is not let them play in tournaments in the future but the damage is already done.

Brackets are already been made for the Lima Major of Dota 2. Look at the bracketing for group A and group B....

2 more days and we will see another great DOTA 2 action. And I am actually more curious about a series between Evil Geniuses and Shopify Rebellion. These 2 teams will have the attention of this major. Although we will have to wait a little longer as both teams are not in the same group. I'm not a fan of Bulba but maybe in this new team, Fly will be able to dominate a big part of the team's drafting and strategies.

The betting odds are picked Team Liquid, Tundra, and BetBoom as early favorites. Shopify Rebellion has 9x odds while EG is at x101.

I am not familiar with Shopify Rebellion and I am surprised they have quite a high odd to win Lima Major. Is there anything particular with EG and Shopify that would get you excited about their series? They might not even meet since they are in different groups.

It is no surprise that Team Liquid will be the favorite since they have a very outstanding WEU performance. I have not checked the betting odds but I think Aster and PSG.LGD will also have good odds to win Lima alongside Tundra and BetBoom. I might put a bet on Liquid and LGD once the tournament starts.
813  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 19, 2023, 10:06:28 PM
Mac McClung took home the dunk contest trophy and rightfully so. He also had the dunk of the night with a 720 which was absolutely ridiculous. That was easily the best dunk since Aaron Gordon’s under the legs over the mascot dunk. This year’s contest was a big step up from last year’s. Hopefully next year we get to see Zion Williamson do something special…
Who the hell is this Mac McClung guy? I have never seen him before, but that dude just came in and bust the whole slam dunk contest open. I know that it is not looking good for the other players, we do not have any good dunkers in the league that is willing to participate anymore due to getting way too much backlash, so only the ones we see accept, but this dude could have outdunked anyone in the entire league.

Three point contest was a bit of a let down as well, nobody really played all that well, many players missed a ton like Randle, and I feel like Dame was obviously the best one, he deserved that one. I am not going to even talk about skills one, that one was terrible to watch.

I am also quite disappointed with the 3-point shooting contest this year. The competition is very low. I think this is the trend for this contest. It is getting less and less competitive each year. The same with all-star games. It has become a game where the players just let other teams scores. There is no real defense. I would like to see a game where they play for real with defense and all. The last I time I see an exciting all-star game was when the Elam Scoring format was introduced.

Don't attempt to bet on TNT because Mikey Williams did not return due to an ankle sprain he sustained in the first half. It's very risky in my opinion. I suggest taking a bigger odds in favor of SMB, like SMB winning by 11+ points, which is at 9.25 now.  Smiley
Hope no one follow your suggestion because the result is the opposite, TNT won the game by only 2 points. Grin
SMB was struggling and despite Williams not being on the game TNT still manage to snatch the win and take the solo lead.
As expected, it was an epic game between this two teams and no one is giving up until the last minute of the game.

Too bad for SMB for not being consistent on this game, I mean there's a lot of lose ball and opportunity being wasted, they should do better on their last 2 games. SMB's next game is on March 15 if the schedule is correct, that's almost a month of rest and preparation so let's see if they can have a good come back here.
Both TNT and SMB will have a good resting time as they already had 9 games in a row while the others are still catching up. Anyway, the game between TNT and SMS was wild, I’ve watched the whole game and its really hard to predict who will gonna win because both teams have their own good runs. At the end, TNT prevail and I don’t think its a lucky 2 points game fort them because they work hard on that and they game a win as a team.

It was a good game and kudos to TNT. They are undermanned going into the game with Pogoy on injury and Mikey Williams getting injured in the first half but they still kept on fighting. They got the win through the rebound by Oftana. It turned out it was a bad decision for SMB to take out Fajardo on the last play for a better defender even though he was doing well defending the drives of the import of TNT, at least in the last 5 minutes of the game. He could have secured the rebound for the SMB win.

Mac McClung has "save the Dunk Contest", lol, the last time we have this kind of noises in the crowd is of course the Zach Lavine vs Aaron Gordon. But Mac is a different breed coming from G-league, who steal the show and make a name for him himself in this year's Dunk contest.

Malone though, his scoring all throughout the competition,  Grin

Hopefully he will have a good season in this second half of the NBA as he was just acquired by the Sixers.

It was an easy win for McClung right from his first dunk until the last dunk. Even against a 6'9" player, he impressed us pretty well. He is way above the competition. It is a robbery that they did not score all his dunks 50.

They are right when they said he saved the dunk contest since it became very stale since the Gordon vs Lavine dunk contest. McClung made the contest interesting.
816  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 18, 2023, 11:01:15 PM
There's no doubt that a healthy Davis is very important to the Lakers. However, no matter how well he performs on the court, he can't be called a player who provides consistency for the team. I mean, his systematic injuries have devalued his talent since he hasn't played even half of the regular season games in the last two years. Unfortunately, the trend is the same this season since Davis has already missed 24 of 59 games.

Am I missing something here? I don't have that impression about Anthony Davis.

As far as I know, even Anthony Davis is considerably no doubt injury prone which keeps him from playing limited games this season, he's the most consistent player in the whole Lakers roster. It's always a big production you can expect from him once he returns to the court after a long period of recovery. There might be a series of off-night performances on him but that wasn't usual to expect.

I also don't see injuries devaluing his talent right now. He's still a beast. However, the main point is, that was all useless if he's always sidelined.

yeah, he is a beast when he plays but he cannot be a beast on the sideline. That is why his health is crucial to the success of the Lakers. His availability is hard to bank on because he gets injured more and more frequently. And if ever the Lakers get into the playoffs, that availability will be a big requirement to be successful. Every time I see AD on the floor, I ask myself if he is getting up or if is he injured again.

At this point, I think the Lakers will do better next season if they acquire a talent that could be available more even with lesser talent but definitely cheaper than Davis.
817  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 18, 2023, 10:51:03 PM
Either of those though, it's good to see that most teams now are not relying too much on their imports. Am I wrong here? Smiley

Most of the top teams have strong locals that are very dependable. They can shoot and guard and are very active on the court. But we still cannot take away having a good import still puts the win in the tally. The perfect example is Magnolia. They have strong local players and doing really great, but their import was lacking in their first few games. They lost all that games until they replaced their import. In this conference, having a strong local is not enough to get the wins. Teams still need good imports to win. But the scoring is more spread out and the teams are not dependent on the import to score. The locals are good enough to create and make their own shots.
818  Economy / Economics / Re: What will you do if bitcoin crash? on: February 18, 2023, 10:39:05 PM
If bitcoin crash today, what will be your fate? Poor or rich. Most people on the platform have submitted all their life savings to bitcoin investment. There was once a man in my area who sold his house to invest in a local platform called BARAZAR in 4 months missive the so-called BARAZAR was shoot down and now he does not have a cottage. So I ask again if bitcoin crashed today what will be your description rich or poor?

I am invested in bitcoin but not fully. I still have money invested on regular investment and not just cryptocurrency. So, if ever bitcoin crashes today, I will still be fine. I will lose some, but I will still be financially stable.

And what is good with bitcoin, it crashes from time to time but it still recovers. Just give it time and if you are a hard-core bitcoin investor, you will take that opportunity to invest more.

You and everyone else only lose the value of your investment if you hold on during the crash, while you will gain if you are willing to wait for the rise. Know something here, bitcoin has good potential to be more expensive in the future.

You are right, the potential is always there regardless of what the naysayers say. There is always someone shooting down bitcoin but it have stayed strong through these years. It crashes from time to time due to negative news, but it always recovers.
819  Economy / Economics / Re: Can one achieve financial independence through crypto currency? on: February 18, 2023, 10:18:15 PM
Given these factors, the dream of financial freedom can come true by using crypto currency?

We have seen a lot of successful people in the crypto world over the years, so I believe this is doable. I also have seen some of my colleagues go full-time in cryptocurrency and they are doing well. Of course, cryptocurrency is just a tool to be successful though. The hard work is done by the person himself. I think, in any field, without the dedication and hard work, it is hard to become financially independent. But if you do have it, it does not matter if it crypto or not, you can be successful.

Just as every analysis says that the Suns were automatically got the favor to win the championship this year after the KD acquisition. This team could be the perfect team, COULD BE, all because CP3 is a good offensive facilitator. Now, all they need to do is to be healthy for the remainder of the season and most especially in the playoffs.
A healthy Suns is gonna be a hell of an opponent, simply because an opposing team cannot double team KD, Booker, CP3, and Ayton all at the same time. One defender may not be enough to guard either of these 4. So, that alone is going to be their advantage.  However, there could still be a lot of teams that could potentially beat them in a 7 game series, but if the Suns won't win it all this year, it  will going to be very shameful to them, as they seem to be the most stacked team in the NBA today.

Time is the greatest factor here. They acquired Kevin Durant late in the season. There are 22 games left in the regular season before the playoffs. I do not know if that is enough time for them to create chemistry enough to pull a win in a series against the top team in the West. But they are great players on paper and their combination is a killer. Chris Paul is eager to have his ring and he will do everything to make this work because this might be his last chance to get a ring.

I think a healthy Lakers team might be able to make an impact in the playoffs. We have to see how their new lineup goes, if AD can stay healthy, and if they can sign Kevin Love. Never discount LeBron James in the playoffs.

I still doubt the Lakers will make it to the playoffs but if they do, they might end up playing against the Nuggets. I do not think they will make an impact if they get bounced in the first round.

Let’s see how the Suns look together before giving them the ring.

They are a contender though. Even without Durant on the lineup, they are already a contender in WCF and now they add Durant, they have a better chance of winning a title. But the West is a stacked conference, just looking at the standing in the first round will be tough. They can end up going against the Clippers in the first round, which is looking great right now. Healthy Kawhi and Paul George, that is tough to beat.
