Nice logo...hire that man!  Cheesy

I explained what I had in mind and he nailed it. I think he did his best logo ever.

I am happy trading the real Ethereum on Poloniex and I think it's fair.
I won't be supporting this clone of it.
All you are doing is cloning them and making a big premine to dump on the noobs who will buy it from you.

Great, have fun, I trade Ethereum as well and I mine it.
823  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] Expanse (EXP) - Fair Mining, Fair Launch, No ICO, Based on Ethereum. on: August 11, 2015, 01:33:01 AM
How much is the premine?  What are the steps to how it will be allocated?

what will be ready at launch? windows , mining tutorials ,etc

from what i know of franco and james, i dont think they are in this to scam but rather wanting to create something here
wishing you good luck. watching closely  Cool

The discussion is ongoing in slack, it would be staged over a great deal of time and multi-sig. It really depends how big the team will be and what we think the market value would be. There is no ICO, and frankly, we can't compete with serious miners and just try to mine like crazy and then work based on that. We are small time hobbyist miners. So we needed some fair plan to hire as much top notch talent as possible, and we need them to stick around and maintain some elements of the tech.

Franko has supported his coin for years, and I have been involved in one other coin over all the years I have been in cryptos, and I still support it. So we are not the sorts to go coin hopping and bsing. The only way we could make a lot of money with this is if the coinmarketcap value goes over a million, and if that were to happen I imagine miners would be very happy and this would be a huge success. We are doing this because we love cryptos and Ethereum is an amazing project, so why not experiment with it and try new things, and have fun? Franko is also talented and honest, and we get along really well, so we have a great core team to start with.

We are a meritocracy, if people get involved and are valuable, they will be rewarded and might be able to join in. I am also very impressed with Mike stepping up and helping with the logo, and a lot of others in Slack are providing valuable feedback as well. Smiley

What do you think about declining rewards over time, either smooth or block halvings? We are currently discussing it.

Rewards should decline. You need to have a way to reward early adopters or else adoption will never happen. A lot of people will cry about it, but it's a reality. Decreasing block rewards are a feature of successful coins.

PoS should also take over, sooner rather than later. Yeah, sounds bad. Boo hoo. But the winning clone will have that model.

I agree with you, I think there should be declining rewards, gradually. If we go POS it would make the most sense to go POS in a year along with ETH. (I just want people to chime in and agree with us)

Wink

Algo???

Make it something both rentable and solo-able.

Actually it should be left the same.  The POW shouldn't be changed.

I've respected James a long time, proud to have done the logo for this project, I think it's going to be big Smiley

Really like the graphic  Cool

I love it as well, it was exactly what I was thinking of with the concept of "Expanse." Vibrant too.

EDIT:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1173722.0

Launch Announcement is here, check it out, thanks!

Expanse (EXP) - Fair Mining, Fair Launch, No ICO, Based on Ethereum.

Pre Announcement:

Expanse (EXP) is based on Ethereum and designed to be fair for miners. We will have fair distribution, a fair launch, and no ICO.

The team is being led by Christopher Franko of the Franko collective, and James Clayton of the Cryptocurrency Collectors Club, along with other coders, marketers, and those skilled at art and publications in the crypto world. There will be a small staged multi-sig reserve to pay for development. This is to ensure long term commitment to development with an increased incentive for the team.

Why make it? Ethereum is a fascinating project and we think it would be very interesting to experiment with some key differences, while also seeking to simplify user experience as greatly as possible.

We ask that you consider mining and perhaps joining the community, everyone is welcome. Help us make this fair version of Ethereum something special and unique, and perhaps even fun and profitable!

More information coming soon -- Franko has already created the build and various possibilities are being discussed. If you want to join the discussion, send a PM  with your email address and I can add you to our slack. Thanks!

bob surplus
crypto-circuits

Nope. The dev and coin I'm talking about were a real deal but something strange happened. He was also testing the main feature on testnet but then just disappeared and a dump followed.

Which coin?

It was probably a clone, not a complete rewrite that had been worked on for over a year before launch.

Not the same situation, I know the coin and avoided that one as I knew it was a scam. There is controversy with this coin as new ideas are being tried, and some disagree on it, but that is what testing is about, to see who is right and if patches are needed. (all coins have challenges) I had someone pro check the code, and we agreed there was way too much work for it to be a scam. Nobody works 6-12 months on something that isn't real, night after night, and I am willing to bet on that with a good deal of confidence. Anyone that has ever worked that much on something understands.
829  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON -- HARD FORK 2015-08-04 - MANDATORY UPDATE TO 0.9.0.0+ REQUIRED on: August 09, 2015, 04:31:47 AM
For everyone with a poloniex account:

AEON has been listed on poloniex before and according to smooth their wallet has been updated. So I would like to ask everyone that has an account to send them a message that you would be interested in trading AEON (again). You can just open a support ticket and I think the mods will pass it along. Personally I hope it gets reenabled, more exchanges means more awareness.

If you check the options on polo there is an option for suggesting a coin. I have submitted the suggestion and the reasoning. With Monero so popular there, and the great dev here, Aeon is an obvious choice now. (with future potential based on new development)

Seems like a big dump is happening. Buy walls anyone?

Might just be some selling to get ETH, but anyone buying that will find out what happens once people can move their coins. Most people can't install Linux and get Ethereum to exchanges. ETH will get a *lot* cheaper. As for fud about a public test, public tests are about testing, so if they think they can prove something, prove it.
831  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ETH] Anyone else going all in? on: August 08, 2015, 12:32:19 PM
I will think about buying some in the future, not yet. Well over 10 million USD invested and all those early buyers seeking profits. Price should come down significantly. Much more development needed and there are other platforms out there competing.

It is very interesting though.
832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [VNL] Vanillacoin 0.3.1 | TCP/UDP | DarkPP/MinerPP/CoinPP | ZeroTime TestNet on: August 07, 2015, 12:12:00 PM
I'm very sorry, new Smelter version with bugfixes and better diagnostics was almost done when I was distracted by other, non-crypto things Sad

anyone get hw errors on smelter miner with faq config (280x?)
1:0 A:1452 R:9 HW:3 Speed: 2.35GH/s 5s: 2.34GH/s
using config from faq with 1000/1250 clocks.
Looks almost OK, perhaps GPU clock should be lowered a bit. Memory is not used, so memory clock is not significant.

What is the best AMD driver for for smelter miner?
The kernel is precompiled, there should be no speed difference.

1000 mhz gpu clock is already considerably low for the 280x these card are 100% stable with other algo's with upto 1100mhz clocks. Also driver does seem to matter considerably just changing driver from 14.7 > 14.9 went from 12mh/s to 2.2 gh/s Wink
is mineing vnl profitable still ?

Depends on electricity costs. I believe there is a calc at whattomine for VNL, regardless, I am mining it so I can at least slowly add a little to my collection. Although I am a hobbyist miner and not running a farm. Just 4 GPUs.

Looks like a solid project here with a great price, I am in. Smiley

Darkcoin 2014

Vanillacoin 2015

Close enough ?  Smiley

The patterns over time are quite comparable. Along with the tech angle and loyalty. At the time Darkcoin was offering interesting technology and it developed a strong loyal community. So whatever manipulations happened, buyers kept stepping in and getting more and driving it higher. There are differences though, Evan not being anonymous, and Vanillacoin perhaps having better technology.

Not perhaps, imo.  Masternodes are a gimmick.

I was just trying to be fair. VNL appears to have ground breaking technology on many levels. If it is truly the fastest and most secure and most distributed, how can that be beaten?

casual 37 BTC  walls... someone really wants those coin before ZeroTime

Where is this 37 support? Did it run away like a chicken?

Back at 44.5k within minutes. Public testing has begun and now we get to see facts proved out with testing.

^

If you must. I don't support you and I bet most sr./hero members here won't either. Coins are still just soccer teams to people it seems.
gosh it was just a joke you guys are such serious sook bags

I thought it was amusing. Wink

It will just come down to the tech anyway, if VNL has the best tech, it wins by default. Different devs have big egos and strong opinions, but if this works out, those of us holding VNL should be very happy.
838  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [VNL] Vanillacoin 0.3.1 | Hybrid TCP/UDP | ECDHE | O(1) | DarkPP/MinerPP/CoinPP on: August 05, 2015, 11:23:34 PM
Sorry, but who gives a F that the Chinese don't like the name? Are we going to change the name to something they like because we want to make them invest? If their investment choices are solely based on the name of this coin I'd rather not have them as an investor, easy as that. Look at the fundamentals of Vanillacoin, hell it could have been called "I love the cock coin" and I'd still be all over it and promoting it. Sorry for speaking so bluntly, but this whole appeasement policy over something as futile as a name gets on my nerves.

I just want to understand it because it is so odd. Best I can tell "Infinite" has to do with Ying Yang and they do really like the word, and they certainly had a thing for Infinitecoin that didn't have much going for it, but why they heck would they have issues with Vanilla? Just odd. Ideally it would be useful to understand their points of view however. They make up a lot of the volume in crypto trading, they build most of the miners, and they will likely be mining most of VNL in the future.

hey every vnl tweet you do be sure to put @dashpay on the end lol let them feal our wrath

VNL doesn't need such dumb methods. It is backed by intelligent minds and that will make it find its right place in cryptoeconomy.

The anon coin FUD will come at us plenty soon enough, they are already starting with it in advance. Definitely better to take the high road and just have the best specs.

The price is going to keep dropping until Adam addresses the elephant in the room

Adam needs a PR guy/gal. I respect him and think he speaks his mind, and he knows his stuff, but he also says stuff he should not be saying that hurts the price.
