You don't like getting the shaft?

BFL has had me by my balls for the past 7 weeks. My left nut is about to fall off.

lulz.  I'm not quite that bad yet, but I do feel your pain.
842  Other / Off-topic / Re: BitForce SC - Pre order delay on: June 24, 2012, 07:31:21 PM
Most seem to agree that people who already have money tied up in orders, should not be forced to the end of the line. We can't even get a hold of Butterfly to get our money back and place a order.

Yep, been waiting for my singles for 7 weeks. Wanted to change to ASIC, sent an email, no response. I am not going to be at the end of the line. Again.

You don't like getting the shaft?

=I think if you take equipment offline selling it (still paying the bond) you would be in violation of the bond.  People bought 5 mh/s, they did not buy a paper trading scheme.

Actually no.  Review the contract.

Quote
The holder of this bond will receive as coupons a number of bitcoins equivalent to 100% PPS output of 5 MH/s, for as long as they hold the bond.

The 5 MH/s is only used to determine the coupon payment, nothing more.

So has anyone on the list received a unit in the last 4 weeks?

EDIT:  I see two.
846  Other / Off-topic / Re: BitForce SC - Pre Order List on: June 24, 2012, 07:21:56 PM
I can't answer that and nether can you with exact to the right numbers and dates.  Thus your guess or generaliztion is inaccurate.  What I do know is enough orders have been filled to satisfy me.

I will agree that preordering from such a small company is a big risk.

My generalization is inaccurate?  Tell that to the list of people that haven't received their orders yet.  I know that isn't everyone, but how likely is it that everyone but the people that have listed their order info on the list have received their hardware?  I think its far more likely that things just aren't shipping.

Are they ignoring others is it just me?

A company that doesn't answers even pre-sales messages is really hard to trust and we're talking thousands of dollars.

This is normal for them Jody will respond to you next week.

So how many weeks do I have to wait before I get a reply to mine?  3? 4?  Busy month I guess.

"We will respond to all emails sent this year within 500 days of receipt."

(note lack of source for quote)

I almost feel like there should be a mailing list, just to prove that the emails are getting sent to them and they're just choosy in who they reply to.

I understand what BFL is saying when they want to give Bit-Pay the first round of pre-orders.  But why would they also accept bank wire transfers?  Are they doing it just because those are the two non-reversible payment options?  They can obviously take Pay-Pal because they take it on there other products.  Seems really sketchy to me.  I can't believe this many people are willing to throw money at BFL without even so much as a picture of what they are buying.

They have delivered on other products.

Really?  4 MR shipped out of how many preorders?  The last singles order was fulfilled when?  What was the order date?

BLF

Its funny you say that, because that is what I think of every time I see their name.
851  Other / Off-topic / Re: BitForce SC - Pre order delay on: June 23, 2012, 10:12:55 PM
It's crazy how many people are willing to fork over their cash knowing it's going to be 5+ months (best case) that anything ships. They're taking pre orders for finished product to fund the development of the product and doing it in a way where you can't be refunded. If there is a hiccup, how do they get more money?

Even worse, the products they ARE delivering ... fail after one day lol

Ask GigaVPS.

Has anyone else received the minirigs they ordered?  AFAIK, Giga was the only one.  I'd be curious to see if the other people are having the same issues.
852  Other / Off-topic / Re: BitForce SC - release notes on: June 23, 2012, 04:37:27 PM
My solution:

Open up a pre–order list from Monday till mid–july, then close it.

This will give everyone ample time to order

Make an inventory of what has been ordered and start producing exactly that amount

When all the pre–Orders have been produced, pack them and ship them off at the same day in october, be it jalapenos, singles or rigs.

That way everone will receive their products around the same time

This is the most fair proposal I've heard.

+1.  Announcing a preorder a day before you do it and not even posting the announcement on your website is a little.. weird.

Does this mean we can reserve the credit up to March 1st, and then ship to you once the SC is ready, or the old product has to reach your office by March 1st ?

Their faq says you don't have to send it in until your sc is ready to ship.

Which means you want to overnight your return to them so they get it ASAP so you can get yours shipped to you.
855  Other / Off-topic / Re: BitForce SC - release notes on: June 22, 2012, 07:08:06 PM
When are the confirmations for orders placed a month ago going out?  I would trying emailing, but you don't return them.

When are the orders placed a month ago going to be shipped?  You say you can rapidly catch up, but Oct isn't that far away and each week you don't ship only costs me more money.

2 Withdrawals today from .B so there's a bit of availability.

It seems the GLBSE idea will need some thinking if it were to work.  It was only an idea to let people get in/out without necessarily having to  talk to me directly.

Didn't you ever notice that "I control your machine," is an anagram of "GPUMax rocks" in Akkadian?  And of course we all know that the Cajuns are the Akkadians who came to America when the Sea Peoples left the Mediterranean after the collapse of Atlantis.

Didn't you ever notice that "El cat knows things: rum, poxrot" is an anagram of "GPUMax controls this network". And in English, too.

If you're going to bite off my awesome, at least step it up a notch.  Your point-missing skills aren't just limited to sports.

These threads are inevitable annoyances.  I'm arrogating to myself the authorship of "Pirate's Law": As an online discussion regarding pirateat40, btcst, GPUMax, or projects to be referred to as M, P, and X grows longer, the probability of speculation and accusation of unethical or criminal activity approaches is 1.

FTFY

I stand corrected, what, three whole cycles in this thread alone?

At least.
858  Other / Off-topic / Re: Butterfly Labs - Bitforce Single and Mini Rig Box on: June 21, 2012, 05:31:16 PM
1x Used Mini-Rig (worth $15,000) + $15,000 cash = NEW $30,000 ASIC Mini-Rig.
This is what I understand from talking to Sonny.

Edit: He also said that you could do something like trade in a multiple of Singles worth $15k, pay another $15k and get an ASIC mini-rig.

Thanks for that...

Have asked this in an e-mail and hadn't heard back yet...

I sent Jody this very question regarding multiple singles for a MR SC but never got a response.  I find it interesting how they pick and chose who to respond to.

How would people feel about me issuing an asset on GLBSE for EIEIO?  Once you hit the 6% threshold, you'd receive 1 bond per 1 btc you have invested and it'd pay .06 every two weeks just like it does now.  The difference being, that if you want out or want to lessen your exposure, you could sell it to the market at large.  The opposite would also be true.. if someone wanted in, they could actually bid over 1 btc which would reduce their yield a bit, but still allow them access to a pretty high, non-pirate related asset.  Should I make this a poll?  Should I only convert those that want to be converted?  I've certainly not made a decision, just stewing over different ideas to help people out.

In short, in the case of a fps&t default, I would honor all of my current debts and investments.

With all this talk nowadays about Pirate defaulting, this statement is still true right?

Yes.  ASIC and the reward halving will have more impact on my long term plans than a pirate default.
