841  Economy / Economics / Re: What you will do if bitcoin price drops to 50$ and you have lots of bitcoin on: November 05, 2015, 07:29:34 PM
Bitcoin will never go under 200 dollars again. We've seen 500 again, almost half the ATH, this means that the fears of it ever reaching such a price are over. Now the future is open and by open I mean high on price, forget about going back to the old floors.
842  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoins via visa prepaid? on: November 05, 2015, 07:27:22 PM
Beware with Virwox, it may seem appealing at first because they deliver your Bitcoin really fast, but their high fees thanks to paypal + SLL rate conversion are absolutely ridiculous. I got scammed when I was a newbie.
843  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jamie Dimond is talking too much shit! on: November 05, 2015, 07:26:06 PM
Can you still remember a rumor that Bill Gates said this about memory needs in computers --> " 640K ought to be enough for anybody." We look back at that now, and we

know he was wrong... very wrong. The same goes for Mr. Dimond ... He is a respected person in the financial world and fiat slaves fall for everything he says. He has enough

influence to sway many politicians to believe him and to support him. JPMorgan and other fiat based organizations has a lot to lose, if Bitcoin succeeds and they will say anything to

protect their interests.  Roll Eyes

Bill Gates has been known for fucking up big time with his bad predictions. He also said that "they would never develop a 32bit operating system".
People are wrong so many times until they learn how everything is possible with technology.
844  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: #Blocksize Survey on: November 05, 2015, 07:23:56 PM
BIP101 will lead to a centralized Bitcoin where mr entrepreneur guy and his multi million dollar venture with a building full of nodes run the show, instead of people around the world.

Yes, bigger fees suck, but I dont see any other solution.
845  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: November 05, 2015, 07:22:16 PM
It seems the OP's forum profile is not there. Did the forum allow for guests to post anonymous back in the day? It's pretty strange that I keep clicking on his nickname but there's nothing there, just a text that says "Anonymous" and doesn't redirect me to a profile. Can anyone explain this to me? Also unfortunately, I think OP might have panic sold already.

Seems pretty odd to me too. Something must've happened with his account that it needed to get deleted or banned? But they decided not to delete the thread because of it's popularity?

My assumption is that maybe OP was someone a bit known like rpietila or something, and he had his real name on his profile, email and so on.. probably thought it was better to be an anonymous multimillionaire.
846  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin Will Not Survive", says Jamie Dimon on: November 05, 2015, 05:57:35 PM
This is exactly the type of shit you look back 10 years later and have a laugh at the same time, while your Bitcoins are x1000 times worth what they were 10 years ago.
847  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I successfully double spended $400 of Bitcoin today on: October 05, 2015, 03:50:20 AM
I haven't done anything with Bitcoin lately so I feel safe. I also only operate with Bitcoin core as well. I keep reading about this malleability problem and wonder when they will do something about this. It's a pretty serious thread. Will the LN help with this?
848  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin core 0.11.0 losing nodes/peers while syncing... on: September 30, 2015, 04:27:57 PM
This used to happen to me coupled with forever increasing ram usage by bitcoin-qt executable, it turns out it was a memory leak caused by a faulty ram slot (not stick but actual slot in the motherboard). I had to buy a new computer basically, then it worked okay. It sucks when you waste a lot of time trying to solve a problem and then you find out the actual computer was screwed up beyond repair.
849  Economy / Economics / Re: Why has bitcoin had success in China? on: September 30, 2015, 04:25:27 PM
There's a big difference from mining to actual usage. Sure, China is king of mining Bitcoins for some reason, probably has to do with the fact they saw profit to be made due their cheaper electricity bills, and sure there's probably something more too hidden from us, such as the goverment seeing the millionaire value this thing may have in the future therefore stacking on it by promoting miners and supplying them with resources. In any case, actual usage is mostly by geeks and in-the-know early adopters like us too. We are too soon in the game yet to expect widespread usage anywhere.
850  Economy / Economics / Re: Alexis Tsipras: "Greece will adopt Bitcoin as its currency for the medium-term" on: September 30, 2015, 04:08:19 PM
Not this thing again lol. Can you guys stop bumping it? Everytime I see it I get all excited but then I see it's just some guy being hypothetical and imagining things.

Well to sum it up: No it's not going to happen. The people of Greece is not ready for Bitcoin (they are clueless and wouldn't know how to adapt) and Bitcoin isn't ready for Greece (the network still needs improvements to deal with bigger transactions per second). But give it time, and the next time something like this happens, we may see ready, and we may see the price go higher than ever. Then the naysayers will learn.
851  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain Technology on: September 30, 2015, 04:05:31 PM
"Speaking to CoinDesk, some of the ecosystem's most frequent and most vocal investors are suggesting they are now working more closely with banks and putting an increased emphasis on projects that use the bitcoin blockchain or alternative distributed ledgers as a payments rail or distributed database."

I think it is the most inspiring news for bitcoin fans, for if banks begin to use bitcoin blockchain as payments rail, bitcoin will be accepted by more people for its excellent technology.

mostly they are not using the bitcoin blockchain because they are morons and building new intranets.

but there are exceptions like Nasdaq, which is using the BTC blockchain.

Every idiot not using Bitcoin's blockchain will go bankrupt just like Kodak mark my words. I don't care if it takes 5, 10 or 20 years for us to see this. The future is decentralized and all those guys limiting themselves with their own egoblockchains will eventually bite the dust. What makes me laugh is they still don't understand that to maintain a blockchain that has those special features you need an incentive and Bitcoin is the incentive and already solves this problem.
852  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FBI Agent Threatens to Kill Silk Road Architect, Ulbricht’s Family for Bitcoin ! on: September 30, 2015, 04:03:02 PM
You look at things like this and you think... Is this a movie? This cannot be real.. until you become the target of this. Ulbricht and BurtW family has been drawn into the dark web of lies.

We think we are safe, when law enforcement cross our paths, but it's not true for everyone. Every organization has their bad apples, and you are just lucky, if your path do not cross

one of them. One or two bad apples, do not spoil the whole basket... Our local police force, also has some bad apples, but the majority are good people, with good intentions.  Sad

It's sad to see what people will do for money. Unfortunately no amount of improvements on the money system will solve this. No matter if we are trading goods, gold, fiat paper or Bitcoin, people will still do evil things for money. We need improvement in human soul and not only in the actual system in which money works. It's disgusting to hear he will torture people to get some sad BTCs and it's even more frustrating when he is supposedly an FBI guy.
853  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll: Mike H. Interview - Convincing or not? on: September 30, 2015, 03:59:09 PM
He's still pushing BIP101 which is probably the worst idea since the invention of software. Gavin and Mike are insane to keep sticking with that concept of doubling the max block size every two years.

Increase max blocksize to 8MB and make the change static, that's the best solution. Then fork again in a few years as/if needed.

The limit should be lift off completely. The network has its own limitations and doesn't need an artificial one at all.

Wait are you saying that the blocksize should have no limit? It seems to me that you don't understand how this thing works at all. Are you aware of all the massive exploits the system could be exposed to if that was the case?

To put a more clear analogy, it was as if you went to a regular everyday car's motor and lifted the max revolutions to limitless. You know what's going to happen once you get past what the actual motor can deal with. This is the case with Bitcoin, thats why a blocksize limit exists at all.
854  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The future of bitcoin on: September 30, 2015, 03:56:16 PM
When I started out on Bitcoin, it was the solution to a problem. {More secure online payment method} ...It has grown into a competing currency and a good investment opportunity.

I doubt that it would ever replace banks or become the de facto global currency... but it will be a solution or a possible alternative for many countries.

People are fed up with banks... they are also fed up with corrupt governments... Bitcoin gives them a opportunity to feel how it would be, if they used something else.

The banks and governments will turn against Bitcoin, as soon as they developed their own copy of it, with all the features they want. Mark my words today.. It's coming.  Roll Eyes

Our only hope is thinking that people will wake up from the electronic fiat scam dollarcoin that they will launch and instead flock into Bitcoin's open source nature. Sure, we are still somehow governed by miners, big merchants and devs, but at least everything is transparent and we see the total supply, we see the actual code of the software. All of this will be secret with "dollarcoin".
855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anonymous 0.5+ BTC Received !! (Please Explain) on: September 30, 2015, 03:49:55 PM
Blockchain.info hasn't been reliable for a while. I still use it because im a sucker for the layout design tho... I should get used to blocktrail. I also don't trust MultiBit or anything that isn't BitcoinCore to deal with any relevant amount. I once had something like this happen to me and it was just a bug, Core showed the stuff correctly.
856  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think the use of Bitcoin is kind of complicate? on: September 30, 2015, 03:45:11 PM
Using BTC right now is like using BTC in 1986 with the insane BSD Linux shell and all. Well not that bad actually, but what I mean is, the room for improvement is immense. In 10 years time the use of BTC will make the current use of BTC look like some ancient thing. The interfaces will be much better and the average Joe will not have to deal with ugly looking addresses.
857  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Simplistic fix for blocksize problem... on: September 30, 2015, 03:27:00 PM
There is a stupid simple way to not destroy bitcoin's value and cause forks and still allow for wiggle room when it comes to blocksize:

For smaller faster transactions;  just use a frikken altcoin thats based around speed....

That is all.  Simple right?

I don't see why people can't wrap their heads around this simple concept..... and instead they would rather risk everything falling apart over a whole redesign of the currently stable system.

Input?

The problem will never revolve around using another altcoin. First of all, there's no altcoin that doesn't fall into the same problem than Bitcoin. Second, if we want to support Bitcoin, we want everything to happen within the Bitcoin ecosystem, this is where blockstream + "let a fee market develop" is the only way to go, along with gradually raising the blocksize.
858  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Kids Keep Asking: Bitcoin, Are We There Yet? on: September 26, 2015, 04:08:58 PM
Rome wasn't built in one day. We are getting there slowly. Every day is an step forward, just look at the Bitcoin reddit for constant inflow of good an interesting news. What childs in the future will ask to parents that didn't invest in Bitcoin when they look at other childs whose parents became rich off Bitcoin: "Dad, didn't you see the necessity of Bitcoin?"
859  Economy / Speculation / Re: btc to £1000000 on: September 26, 2015, 03:44:13 PM
It only takes about 1% of the world's wealth to get to 6 figures, so it's definitely doable. There will be a huge paradigm shift and it will be during our lifetimes. If anyone thinks things can go on the way they are indefinitely they are being delusional and victim of normalcy bias.
860  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin price will be deflated!!! by block halving!!!!! on: September 26, 2015, 03:41:55 PM
It doesn't matter if it there is a logical argument for or against a price devaluation, at this point the halving is on everyone's mind and make no mistake, there will be movement upwards with the price. Market = psychology game.
